Lmf your employer should do a risk assessment as soon as they find out.
My doctor had already said prior to my assessment that I should come off shift work and wrote a doctors note/certificate for me to give my work... Which I gave them when I had the assesment with occupational health.
Occupational health lady in work also agreed with the doctor and said I should be doing shorter days and no nightshifts Smile

Ooo Wispa not long now! Grin Loving your reveal plans, great time of year for your name as well!

Lmf that does seem pretty harsh. Do you get on with your manager? It can be difficult sometimes to say anything even if you know legally you can as you don't want to seem difficult etc, but if you're going to struggle could you maybe have a quiet word with your manager. It might be she just doesn't realise how you're feeling, especially if she doesn't have children?

Lmf679 · 13/11/2013 19:20

Thank you for all the advice everyone! I'll definitely speak to hr and raise it in the risk assessment, my manager did mention risk assessment to me but she's so disorganised I received a letter from her last week dated June saying I'd just passed my probation period, if it was left to her I would be on maternity leave before she got round to it. I'll make sure it's done before this event, the event is huge and I'm in charge of it which makes it difficult, it happens twice a year and even when I'm fit and healthy i am like a broken person for a week after. They are just going to have to pull together and take on more without me for this one.

seatfor5 · 13/11/2013 19:21

Tanny thats fab needs, good luck & sticky bean :)

Wispa how very sweet

jaykay987 · 13/11/2013 19:24

Banana sand (in case anyone is interested):

Chop bananas up into discs
Freeze until they get solid (but not ice like) prob a couple of hours
Put in a blender. Pulse until banana starts to break up. Keep pulsing until the texture becomes smoother.

Banana sand is served!

Eat plain, or add a spoonful of Nutella to make it chocolatey or a spoonful of peanut butter.

Yummy!

(I haven't tried it yet.....Im way too cold. My ice cold hands couldn't cope with it!).

GillyBillyWilly · 13/11/2013 19:43

Wispa I'm so excited for you! It's almost Thursday which means your scan is ALMOST tomorrow (Friday!!) Grin
What time is it?

MarlenaGru · 13/11/2013 19:50

So exciting for our first 12 week scan! Mine is 3.5 weeks away

jaykay987 · 13/11/2013 20:06

Has anyone had any problems taking pregnacare?

I've only just finished the pregnacare conception tablets and am only about 3/4 days into the pregnancy ones.

Sorry if tmi - but Ive become really constipated and when I do get anything out it is almost black! Anyone else had this problem?

I know some people struggled with the conception tablets but as I was ok with these I thought I would be ok with the pregnancy ones too.

Could it be related? Or do you think it's something else? I can't say my diet has been very balanced recently.

wispaxmas · 13/11/2013 20:08

Jaykay, I was having on again off again diarrhoea before switching to pregnacare, and it's sorted it out for me, but not made me constipated.. Maybe I just eat more fiber?

wispaxmas · 13/11/2013 20:11

Gilly, my scan is at 10:10am, I'll do my best to show you lot a photo for you lot ASAP! I guess I'm the first?

superlambanana · 13/11/2013 20:15

My scan isn't for another five weeks!!! That's aaaaaages!!! Very jealous of all the twelve weekers! not least because you're nearly out of the sodding first trimester

Lmf679 · 13/11/2013 20:29

I take pregnacare and have been quite constipated, I thought it was just being pregnant and eating a beige diet but maybe not? I've tried to eat a bit more fruit or at least drink orange juice. I also find that beans on toast or a lentil soup helps.

CleverOl10 · 13/11/2013 20:33

I've been taking the seven seas pregnancy ones and not had a problem. Only got them cos they were on offer lol. Was thinking about getting pregnacare ones next but not so sure now.

jaykay987 · 13/11/2013 20:36

I bought them on special too clever. I had 120... Enough to last me through until Im 22w!!!Grin FX they aren't the reason for this!

Wispa....I can't even pretend not to be jealous of your scan! Grin

dramajustfollowsme · 13/11/2013 20:52

I have the on/off diarrhoea too. Not fun. Especially when trying to teach a class of 7yo's. Confused
On days where I'm not sick, it comes out the other end. How glamorous!
I think it is the folic acid. I have to take a stronger dose than over the counter because of a problem in a previous pregnancy.
It will get worse if I end up on iron tablets. That was horrific last time.

MyNameIsWinkly · 13/11/2013 20:59

gilly what is it you do again? I'm still doing nights for the time being, it means I'm in sync with DH, and I don't lose shift allowance. I'm bloody shattered though, my MIL is in hospital so with looking after her and FIL and then a night shift I'm fit to drop.

Anyone else finding drinking water makes them feel sick?

jaykay987 · 13/11/2013 21:06

Drama - that's interesting. I have the higher folic acid too but haven't had that side effect.

My name - if your schedule suits you, the. I wouldn't be in a hurry to try and change it. Try and take it easy in the day though - otherwise you'll be asking on far too much. It sounds like you have a lot going on.
I've been ok with water. I normally hate it but Im so thirsty all the time!

CleverOl10 · 13/11/2013 21:23

Also just started taking extra folic acid due to high bmi but no side effects yet.

Weird appetite today. All I could face for dinner was prawn crackers and grapes!

MarlenaGru · 13/11/2013 21:31

I am drinking litres of water. It is the only thing that agrees with the constant nausea and heart burn! This one is going to be born with waist length hair if the old wives' tales are to be believed (DD was bald til 1 so I know it isn't true!)

MarlenaGru · 13/11/2013 21:32

I remember finding pregnacare awful last time. I am on their conception ones still. Will try 7 seas next week when these runs out.

littlepickly · 13/11/2013 21:36

I'm taking pregnacare and am a little constipated but put it down to beige diet at the mo and sluggish digestion - one thing I have had with pregnacare is that it made me sick when I took it 3 hours after my dinner - thought it would be ok but no!!

Liquidambar · 13/11/2013 21:48

Wispax how exciting! Our first 12 week scan :) Mine will be in 3 weeks, 11 hours and 1 minute

Jaykay I am taking the Sanatogen Mum to Be + Omega 3 and I’m getting the opposite effect. But I have IBS, so in my case it might not be related to the vitamins.

Nessie how are you feeling? Did you manage to ask your doctor about codeine?

Tron fantastic news

I gave all my maternity clothes to friends. One of them is currently pregnant and expecting the baby in January. Perhaps I will retrieve some of the clothes then. But I have been looking on-line and tempted to buy a couple of things. Since Isabella Olive's dresses are a bit expensive I think I might buy this one. It will be nice for work meetings.

I still need to do some work, but I am so tired! (and dreaming about frozen banana with nutella!!)

Bezzabelle · 13/11/2013 22:06

Liquid!!!! I was trying really hard not to look maternity clothes as already have enough from ds and sil but I LOVE la redoute and forgot they did maternity. If I cave and order anything, I will hold you responsible!!

Congrats Tanny!

I am another one suffering with constipation but think its the anti sickness meds and lack of decent food.

Gilly, this time next week, we will have had our scans!! What time is yours??

AuntPittypat · 13/11/2013 22:41

Nutella banana sand sounds delicious!

Oh, and I'm on Pregnacare and haven't had any problems.

ElizaB3 · 13/11/2013 22:50

Hi everyone, checking back in after holiday & it's taken a week to catch up!
Had early scan, he was squirming around a lot already - goes without saying its the best thing our eyes have seen! Dated us three days on (so currently 9+5) but won't change EDD until confirmed at 12 wk scan.

Had booking in apt, MW came to our house but unfortunately I was not a fan! Found her very patronising, know-it-all and she answered some of my questions with straight sarcasm.
I asked if there were choices where I could give birth but she said if it wasn't at 'her hospital' she may as well leave now. Felt quite railroaded.

Haven't researched hospitals properly (thought I had more time!), I have a choice of two but now feel I've been selected one without realising.
Does it matter if you don't like your MW as she only does the PG appts, not the birthing?
Can you change hospitals after your booking in? Not saying I definitely want to but would be nice to feel there is a choice.
I saw a locum doctor to confirm the PG & she gave me no info on how this works!
