Oh, Sultana, you poor thing :(
Do keep trying sips of water. Or maybe flat coke or Lucozade?

Angelesque · 05/11/2013 15:49

You poor lot... hope you all feel better soon and glad to see lots of you are making sure you're getting some rest to feel better.

Roll on the weekend! :)

fryingpantoface · 05/11/2013 16:01

Hi!

i cant keep up! I'm due on 17 Jan.

i keep having braxton hicks which really hurt and so much pain in my bump. It's not fun :(

Mythreeknights · 05/11/2013 16:12

Fryingpan the BHs shouldn't hurt - they should just feel tight...perhaps best to all a mw? I'm due on the 16th and my BHs have been completely 'silent' iykwim so far.

For some reason I suddenly can't see very well whilst wearing my contacts - the laptop is fuzzy and distant, all the letters too small so I'm hunching right over, squelching my bump into the edge of the desk. It doesn't happen with my glasses, but I'm going to get them checked out on Thurs to be on the safe side...can pg swell my eyes to distort vision??

Angelesque · 05/11/2013 16:24

knights could it just be preggo dry eyes? My lenses are definitely drier than they were and my eyes get a bit sore towards the end of the day...

Mythreeknights · 05/11/2013 16:29

Hi angel No it's not just dry eyes - I basically can't see font size ten anymore and have had to type in at least 12 to see what I'm doing, despite my chair being no further away from the screen than before. I've not got flashing lights / dizziness or any PE symptoms, just blurred vision and limited acuity.

Sultanajo · 05/11/2013 16:30

frying I second giving your midwife a quick call - didnt think they should be painful....

space bless ya! The vomming has now commenced so I spoke too soon earlier. Would loveeee some flat coke toby! Have asked DH to get some rehydration stuff on his way home from work....

Sultanajo · 05/11/2013 16:31

mythree is it worth a call to your mw too about your vision just incase?

TobyLerone · 05/11/2013 16:32

Yep, frying, just quickly check with your mw. BHs shouldn't be painful, although they will feel tight and maybe a bit uncomfortable.

:( sultana. Must be a bug. You poor thing Flowers

OnlyThePurpleOnes · 05/11/2013 16:41

I have no awesome anti-sickness remedies, but hope you feel better soon, sultana

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/11/2013 17:28

mythree I think your prescription can change. In the meantime, Ctrl and + will increase font size in many programmes, and online.

frying I third calling MW.

sultana have a hug.

toby how are you doing?

nature how about you? I feel like the sickness monitor!

I'm off out for tea and cakes with a friend. Then it's Operation Pack the Rest of the House in One Evening!

Sultanajo · 05/11/2013 17:34

Thanks ladies. Really hoping the vomming stops at least. Thats always the worst part, especially with a big bump....Sad

fryingpantoface · 05/11/2013 17:50

Thanks ladies. I've left her a message asking to call. We've had a really busy past couple of days (trip into Manchester - a LOT of walking, and Christmas shopping today) so I reckon she'll just say it's that. Still, better to be safe than sorry!

About the eye sight, mine is rubbish at the moment. It was with DS, then it went back to normal within days of his birth. The optician said it wasn't worth doing anything about it :(

extracrunchy · 05/11/2013 18:19

Sultana I had the bug last weekend - apparently it's going around. Lasted 3-4 days for me, vomming only one day. Called midwife and she said as long as I'm hydrated not to worry. Hope you feel much better soon!

Mythree I think prescriptions can change with pregnancy but swelling causing sudden vision changes can be a sign of preeclampsia I think (though don't want to freak you out!) so maybe worth calling midwife??

Frying, Mythree is right, BH shouldn't really hurt so maybe call MW?

DS and I spent this afternoon napping together, hanging out in onesies and snuggling in front of Happy Feet! Both of us are feeling much less stressed out. Smile

extracrunchy · 05/11/2013 18:20

Cross posted with about 8 people..! Grin

Swannykazoo · 05/11/2013 18:37

My goodness hope vomming and painful BHing all settles down all. Its flipping hardwork being life support and grobag all in one! Can't decide what to do tonight. Its Bonfire night in my new town and I had planned to drive down and take a look - next year I'll be able to see the fireworks from my garden yippee yippee yippee, no parking or crowds or trailing about. But, its been a long day and my bottom has hit a seat now. And its Masterchef the professionals with Monica yay and I'd have to go to fireworks on my own.
Ooo the dilemma. Fireworks or sofa?

TarkaTheOtter · 05/11/2013 18:56

Sorry for all of you feeling sick/in pain. Being I'll whilst pregnant is shit. I second whoever said contact NCT about missed breastfeeding class as they are normally pretty good about that sort of thing and will just let you go to the next one instead.

I'm 30 weeks and have started on the raspberry leaf tea which I love.

I also took the toddler to the nearest "big" city today for some Christmas shopping. Bought no presents but did get myself some cheapo maternity wear from h&m. I'm not cut out for being well prepared for Christmas. I need the motivation of a mad Christmas Eve dash to actually commit to anything.

BookTart · 05/11/2013 19:08

I hope all the poorly people feel better soon. The third trimester is flipping hard! mythree and frying I second all those who say to call the midwife, just to be on the safe side.

I have just mangled DH's lovely car on a non-moving gatepost outside my house. It is a bit fucked, and will require bodywork and some respraying I think. He never loses his temper, but he's clearly cross (and quite rightly). I feel like such a muppet Sad. To make matters more stressful the baby has decided to stop moving (yet again), all three cats made a break for it and are now outside with all the fireworks, and work was horrible because they were interviewing for my maternity cover today and I feel really massive and sore. Can we just skip straight to Saturday now please?!

Toothfairy78 · 05/11/2013 19:16

Evening all,

sultana and nature sorry you're feeling crap. Hope you feel better soon! X

humpty you were far too restrained. I would have been sorely tempted to tell em go fuck themselves. What a rude cow!

I was just moaning to DH about how territorial ToothJr is becoming. If I rest my arms or anything at the top of the bump, they kick. I then placed a finger to show DH where and I get a great big low punch!

Right, it's my birthday tomorrow and that means my colleagues need cake. So I'm off to the kitchen!

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 05/11/2013 19:51

I'm the same, thanks for asking, Humpty! Still with the painful contractions, but they're staying sporadic.

Book, it's a horrible feeling, isn't it? Like if only you could go back in time 5 minutes and swing into the drive at a slightly different angle. Are you ok?

altered, how are you doing?

TobyLerone · 05/11/2013 19:51

Happy birthday for tomorrow, tooth!

fryingpantoface · 05/11/2013 19:54

It sounds like there's a lot of stress going around.

don't worry about the car. Neither of you will remember it in 12 months.

escaping cats are never fun!

I've not heard from the midwife, but pains have died down. Will call again tomorrow.

i finish for maternity leave in 5 weeks and 2 days. Crazy! I brought the date forward because I'm shattered. Roll on 13 december

flyawayblue · 05/11/2013 20:10

Happy birthday for tomorrow tooth.

Humpy really impressed with your reply, not sure I would have been that polite Smile

nature & sultana sorry you are feeling so horrible, I hope you feel better soon.

DH is away for work and after 9+ hours at work today and travel from hell I've decided to stay home tonight and watch bad tv on the sofa.

Missing the local huge firework display for the first time in years. I wish I could cope with standing up for 40 minutes but I know I'd be dad faint and on the floor half way though which would be pointless. Wish I couldn't hear it though!

TobyLerone · 05/11/2013 20:22

DS has gone to fireworks but it's cold outside and standing up makes the contractions worse.

You made the right choice, fly!

Mythreeknights · 05/11/2013 20:28

Toby why are you getting contractions?! Please lie down and rest - there have been two babies from the December group already and we don't want to start popping our Jan babies just yet...cross your legs and have a nice warm bath and go to bed early. xx
