Hello all, I've been reading but not posting, hope allis going well Chelsea Flowers

I'm really exhausted now, a week and a bit until mat leave and I can't wait! Mw says that baby has started to engage, which explains the horrible pain in my pelvis that feels like baby's headbutting me constantly. I'm still not finished organising things either which is starting to stress me out, and the idea of Christmas shopping makes me want to cry! Christmas will be low key here, I think we're just going to my parents for dinner and then we can come home whenever we like as they don't live very far away. There's normally a few family get togethers over the Christmas period, and I'm not sure if well be going to those - while I like the idea of seeing everyone, the thought of loads of people clamouring around and wanting to hold the baby makes me feel nervous.

BohemianRaspberry · 12/11/2013 17:35

R.e breastfeeding incentive, it seems cruel to penalise those who can't actually do it due to various issues (friend just didn't produce anything, even expressing didn't do anything). Also, am wondering who would act as the 'breast inspector'? And what about those who do mixed feeding? Or expressing into a bottle?

The skip finally arrived! Spent 20 minutes hurling the light bricks and breeze blocks crossly at it (not allowed to lift anything else!). Feel better now and have a glass of ginger beer to celebrate.

Gannetgob · 12/11/2013 17:54

I’ve missed so much!

Hope you are ok Chelsea – must be scary but you are in the right place!

Frouby, hope your DP is alright by Thursday!

Well done Bohemian - enjoy your ginger beer. Sorry you are having a hard time.

For Christmas, we are going to my aunt’s. My mum said it’s best because then she will be free to help out with the baby and give us a rest rather than playing hostess. My aunt only lives about 15 minutes away, so it will be all good I think.

Well done to all of those still at work, I don't know how you are doing it! I have just had it confirmed that I left at the right time - Ofsted are paying my school a visit tomorrow and Thursday. I feel bad for them all, but I can't help feeling a bit smug too!

I have been on a cooking mission today - I have made two cottage pies, a chilli, a batch of fishcakes and a casserole. Rather pleased with myself - have done nothing for tea though! Ooops. Maybe chippy?

AngryByrd · 12/11/2013 18:01

Hi Ladies!

I'm suffering from a seriously painful vagina. Not sure if I had this last time, I must have blocked it out. Anyone else have this?

BohemianRaspberry · 12/11/2013 18:07

angry I sometime have very sharp almost stabby pains on the right side but MW said it was LO pressing on a nerve. Sometimes I get sharp pains from bladder that is too full.,

I have my family coming to us for Christmas until 27/28th Dec - Can't really travel far with a (hopefully)two week old. My christmas present from DMum is Christmas dinner with rare rib of beef (I want that bugger bleeding!) and evening tea of paté and crackers.

MildredH · 12/11/2013 18:36

Ooh Chelsea- how exciting.. How is it going my love?

13loki · 12/11/2013 18:46

Gannet - when I went off on maternity leave with DD, Ofsted turned up a few weeks later. Now I am on maternity leave and after Xmas Skolinspektion (Kind of the equivalent of Ofsted) are coming. I've been teaching 6 years and have managed to avoid inspections. Grin

Bohemian I replied ages ago, but obviously my phone ate it! Glad you sound happier now. Shit day all round today, I think!

Chelsea Good luck

I forgot that I had told DH to go out to the icehockey tonight. I am doing bedtime twice. DS has done his homework (maths thankfully, at least I can understand maths, not like his RE homework in swedish) and now we are watching Deadly 60. DD went to sleep early, she refused to nap at childminders, she was having too much fun!

Lots of braxton Hicks (I hope) and uncomfortable in lower abdomen. Not at all stressed that DH is out with the babysitter we have lined up for the 2DCs. Although I've felt like this for a few nights, but it never gets past this stage.

mumoftwoboysS · 12/11/2013 19:24

Exactly bohemian it's not as clear cut as either bf or not - and my main gripe is the money should be spent on training support workers or bf councillors to help women to bf as the main reason so many fail is due to a lack of help and support (myself included).

I'm worried about Xmas too- with baby due on 22nd there's a good chance Xmas day could be a write off. Mum lives 20mins away and we usually go to hers so probably so the same (I don't want to be cooking at home!) but with getting bf sorted etc I doubt we'll stay long! Shes actually hoping I go into labour when we're over at hers so the boys are already there and we can just go to the hospital- not my idea of a fun Xmas day tho! Hmm

abcdemma · 12/11/2013 19:45

That "incentive" is a load of rubbish. Not everyone can manage to do it, through no fault of their own, plus who wants Poundland vouchers lol. I think you can chose other shops though. Agree that the money would be much better spent on training and employing people who can help with BF. Plus it can't really be policed and anyone could just say they're BF just to get the vouchers. Hmph.
Feeling knackered too, after yesterday of cleaning the entire flat and washing all bambino stuff, today has been a slob day including Beauty and the Beast & hot chocolate Smile Good job DP leaves for work early cause I've been sleeping in till 1pm these last few days lol

froubylou · 12/11/2013 19:48

Evening all.

DPs ankle is a mess. Has ballooned and gone black from his toes to his shin almost. He is the world's worst patient too so driving me mad. Grrrrrrr.

I have made it clear that Christmas will be a quiet one. DP is being prepared for cooking lunch for us. Anyone can come and visit as long as they don't expect feeding or much hospitality and I will hopefully be concentrating on bfing a newborn. Edd 20 / 12 but he is breech as was DD so not banking on him turning so probably be a elcs around 13/12.

Chelsea hope you are ok and too busy with a newborn to update us!

I have mixed feelings about the bfing cash. On the one hand I would rather there be more support for everyone whatever way you decide to feed. On the other I think the mothers theu are targetting will be incentivsed by the cash and even if they get to the 6 weeks stage it is of benefit to both mum and baby.

And if they get to 6 weeks they are more likely to get to 6 months because then it does get easier. I'm from just outside the area they are targetting and it's more normal to give ff. If they can get rates up then hopefully funding for help for everyone will increase.

Am very achey the last couple of days. And have very active bowels. Hopefully it is just normal and not the sign of anything else. As much as I am fed up I'm not sure I'm quite ready for a newborn just yet lol.

Just had Chinese for tea and have accidently given the driver a 10 pojnd tip. Oh well at least some one will be happy!

Alyssa1978 · 12/11/2013 19:57

How's everything going chelsea hope you're doing ok hunny xx

bohemian what a horrible day. Is the local injection the numbing one? How come he wouldn't do it? I had a root canal the week before ds2 was due or was it my dentist being not cautious enough? I always thought I shouldn't have had it done Hmm

mum I don't think anyone should be penalised for not being able or wanting to breast feed, I mean what's next? A £100 next voucher for refusing pain relief? Wink

Good dodge gannet I'd be feeling smug too, although I will admit, I don't know what ofsted is Confused
All that mention of food has made me hungry Smile

angry I don't so much have a painful vagina but it feels like baby is scraping my cervix only way I can describe it but I constantly feel wet down there, reminds me of when your period is due.

Well the cramps etc i was having all last week have now gone and with it the frequent trips to the bathroom so I'm guessing definately a bug of some sort Sad I was so hoping labour was on its way.
I will regret all the wishing for it once it starts lol.

MrsShrubs · 12/11/2013 20:08

Woohoo I now finish thurs!!!!! So excited!

Featherbag · 12/11/2013 20:25

Hm, DH was meant to be making spinach and ricotta pasta for tea, but after an unsuccessful spinach hunt at the greengrocer, he's doing Savoy cabbage and ricotta pasta. AIBU to be a little dubious?! We live over the road from 3 takeaways and a supermarket so we'll not starve if it's rank, but I do wonder what goes on in his head sometimes!

NomDeClavier · 12/11/2013 20:28

I have a painful fanjo too. It feels, umm, swollen?

DH has gone out tonight and I am unreasonably miffed with him although I did get cake before he left.

This cash for BFing think has had me riled all day, but then again there are some mothers who might be incentivised to do it, particularly in less affluent areas, and that is a good thing because it normalises BF and being in a country where sadly BF rates are so very low anything that promotes and normalises BF is positive for increasing rates. That said if they've got 200 for 130 mothers or whatever it was then that's a lot of funding! If you paid me even 200 a week for nearly 3 years I'd practically be able to be a FT BFC and run lots of support groups and do home visits and help in hospitals rather than the measly amount of time I can commit now. I know being paid is against the spirit of the organisations that provide BFCs but covering childcare would be nice!

mum some breast shells come in two parts with interchangeable backs. One has a big hole and the other has a smaller hole that you poke your nipple through - it'll make sense if you see it!

AngryByrd · 12/11/2013 21:09

yes! it feels swollen!! what does this mean? I'm pretty sure I didn't complain of this last time.

Also, who is heading up the FB group? I tried to join a few days ago and sent two messages...haven't heard back. Can I join?

Alyssa1978 · 12/11/2013 21:45

I think it's stom who does the fb group but I'm not sure as I cancelled my account when pregnant with ds1 due to my dick of an ex.

I have 2 messages from you in my in box angry sent to me by mistake
Xx

Stom91 · 12/11/2013 21:46

Stom91 · 12/11/2013 21:48

I keep getting waves of sharp pain in my lowest tummy.
It's like a sharp ache and then when dd moves it hurts more. Sometimes it's waves of pain it's really hard to explain but it hurts lol

Alyssa1978 · 12/11/2013 22:15

Anything to worry you stom any pattern to them?
If it gets any worse give labour ward a ring Hun xx

Stom91 · 12/11/2013 22:19

Not really. It's a constant shape ache for a while and then it'll go and then be a short sharp stab dd will move and that hurt. It chances between short sharp stabby pains and a long sharp ache if that makes sense?
It's starting to go now. Think maybe dd was sat funny lol

Stom91 · 12/11/2013 22:19

Changes**

AngryByrd · 12/11/2013 23:03

Stom91 · 12/11/2013 23:29

Thanks. Back is killing taken some paracetamol in the hope it eases x

Alyssa1978 · 12/11/2013 23:38

Hope you feel better soon stom just be careful my labour with ds1 was in my back due to him being back to back. Xx

Stom91 · 13/11/2013 00:05

Oh god Loki really don't want a back to back labour! I was back to back with my mum she said it was horrible she had an epidural in the end.
Tbh I think it's just my hyper mobility playing up
But will keep an eye. The pain killers haven't even touched it :) but tbh they never do. I'm used to taking tramadol!
