That's interesting, I had a couple of days of spotting before af started, will ask about that when I see the midwife. I did get quite a strong line on a test a few days before af was due.

spinningirl10 · 27/10/2013 18:29

Is anyone else really impatient?!

I can't wait to be further along and feel more confident that all is well.....12 weeks will be great Grin

I think also that when you find out so early on then the time drags!

Oh and I've found a place local to me that does private ultrasounds for £50 so I'm quite tempted to get an early scan!! Although by the time I could have it at 8 weeks it wouldn't be too long to wait till the 12 week scan where you can see so much more!! Grin

MrsB2013 · 27/10/2013 19:29

Spinning I'm the same, wish I was further along, 12 week scan seems like such a long time to wait!

£50 is really good, the place I've found near me is £75 for a scan from 8 weeks. Which area are you in? Don't answer if you don't want to say!!

I'm still considering the Harmony test, but from what I can see its at least £400!!

LadyGoneGaga · 27/10/2013 19:30

I'm having an early scan also for 50 quid at 7 weeks. Time just seems to be passing unbearably slowly. But it's been like this with all of my pregnancies. Very slow to start, middle passes fairly quickly and then the last month drags because you are so uncomfortable. I am hoping that the usual pre-Christmas time flying by might apply!

AhoyMcCoy · 27/10/2013 19:53

Hello all!! Another passenger hopping on the bus! Due date is 2nd July, but I'm posting tentatively after a mc in august, I need 12 weeks to hurry up so I can stop being such a neurotic mess!! This is DC1 for me.

spinningirl10 · 27/10/2013 19:53

I'm in Devon....I'll give it some more thought. I really think I would just be having it because of my impatience! Although it would be nice to see the heart beat it can't tell you anymore than that can it?!

I too have looked at the Harmony test, that's the one I'd really like, especially with me being older but I'm not paying £400!!

It's really raining and windy outside....the storm is supposed to hit here in the early hours and then travel upwards I think!

Welcome AhoyMCoy and Congratulations Grin

FX for a healthy and sticky 9 months for you.

I'm only having it due to previous mc, Spinninggirl. I won't relax and am hoping that might just set my mind to rest. Would kind of like to check number of babies too! This is our third and I have this nagging, "what if it's twins" voice in my head. Scan at 7 weeks will only tell you number of babies and if the pregnany is viable at that point. And confirm dates.

Harmony test is a pretty new thing I think. I think best thing to do is to have the nuchal scan and bloods and if that shows up a problem then consider paying for the Harmony instead of CVS? Otherwise it seems a lot of moneyy to have to find!

OttersPocket · 27/10/2013 20:03

Hi everyone,

May I join you please? After 18 moths and 5 rounds of Clomid I got my BFP on Friday afternoon (and Friday night, and Saturday morning and today... you get the idea!)

Due date calculator thinks 7th July for me. I'm very nervous - I have a pre-existing condition that make things very hard but I'm determined to stay positive Smile

MrsB2013 · 27/10/2013 20:06

Welcome Ahoy hope this one is a sticky one for you!!

I'd like an early scan just to check everything is ok. I asked my doctor what she thought about the Harmony test. She said to have the 12 week NT scan and see what the results are from that first, but I'd rather have the Harmony test at 10 weeks. £400 is such a lot of money though!!!

spinningirl10 · 27/10/2013 20:06

Thanks for the info Ladygonegaga and in your situation I would definitely be having the early scan!

I think your suggestion of going for the nuchal scan and taking it from there is also a good idea....and i would pay £400 if needed.....but not just because of my impatience Grin

MrsB it's hard to know what to do isn't it

If money was no object I'd have a scan every week Grin

OP posts:
OttersPocket · 27/10/2013 20:11

Hi MrsB2013 - thanks! Yes, it's my first and I'm still in rather a state of shock! DP is also stunned but happy. I'm looking forward to phoning the doctors tomorrow to get the ball rolling Grin

No real symptoms as of yet. I've had more 'symptoms' every other month before AF turned up. I do have a lot of pulling and small cramps going on though - please tell me this is normal?!

jaykay987 · 27/10/2013 20:16

Welcome new joiners!

We've booked a 7 week scan.....cheapest is £99 near me Hmm. But it's important that I see a heartbeat. If I have a mmc Id rather not wait to 12 weeks to find out.

We've also decided to go for the harmony at ten weeks. It is really expensive, but I wouldn't want to have to make the decision of whether to "risk" the amniocentesis or cvs. It's just personal to me.

LadyGoneGaga · 27/10/2013 20:28

But if the nuchal comes out really low risk then surely there is no need to do the Harmony OR consider CVS. Yoiu can still have the Harmony after the nuchal if the nuchal comes out high risk (and the nuchal is free). I just think it's a bit mad when there are so many other things you will be needing to find money for. But obviously it is absolutely your choice. Just chucking another opinion in, feel free to ignore me.

spinningirl10 · 27/10/2013 20:48

Yep it's all personal choices isn't it Grin there's certainly a lot more info available than when I was first pregnant!!

Not too long then Jaykay until your 7 week scan?! How exciting!

OP posts:
MrsB2013 · 27/10/2013 21:06

Otters I had a stitch like feeling the other day and also had the odd pulling feeling. It's all so scary as I've no idea what's normal and what to expect! I know everyone is different, but it's so nice to come on here and ask questions and chat, as no one knows yet, only Dh and I!!

Jaykay Have you got a definite price for the test? I've looked at the FMC in London, it says £400 but don't know if you add on the scan price too?

I'd prefer to find out asap if something was wrong, it's so sad when someone finds out at the 12 week scan :(

4w+5

jaykay987 · 27/10/2013 21:31

Yes - it's £400. This includes two appointments. First for a ten week scan and the bloods which then get sent away to US for the Harmony test. Second is a 12 week scan and the results of the harmony bloods.

You're right lady. That is a good option. I just wouldn't want to go through that and be at 15/16 weeks before getting a result bathe way Christmas falls could make it even later.

Boboli · 27/10/2013 21:38

That's one benefit if feeling sick - as long as that stays, you know everything is ok in there....or maybe that's a big myth? Anyway, that thought Certainly made me feel bit better with my first 2!

Taranta · 27/10/2013 22:37

Hello folks, another one for July 2014, due date 3 July, will be DC2 for me. Feeling quite surprised about it, no symptoms and didn't even test till I was two days late as really didn't think I could be pregnant. Wow. And congratulations to you all Wink

MrsB2013 · 27/10/2013 22:53

Hello and congratulations Taranta We're getting lots of new bfp's joining us now!

Thanks Jaykay that's not too bad then if you get the 2 scans as well! I'm the same as you, I wouldn't want to wait that long to find out.

I've got friends who were sick all the way through and some who had none at all and all had healthy babies!!
