lemon maybe phone up Whittington and ask where their community midwives (I think that's what they are called?) do their appointments. Your current gp must only have a whipps midwives clinic.
They might have a clinic at different gp surgeries or children's centres or you might just go to the hospital for appointments. Find out how their system works.

itsalwaysbetter that is a long time to wait. She is waiting for 6 weeks before the scan as there is more likely to be a heartbeat, so it is more conclusive. Maybe you could ask for 48 hour bloodtests? Finger crossed for you!

doesmybump I'm craving tinned tuna!

sparky great news on the scan :) has the pain in your side gone?

AuntieMaggie · 12/11/2013 20:58

Sssshhh with the carb talk... i'm trying to low carb Wink

coco808 · 12/11/2013 21:03

Wink I'm now stuffing my face with cheesy pasta as I type...

Sparky321 · 12/11/2013 21:14

Pearls, I have pain but it seems to be more in my hip bone, couldn't sleep at all last night as could lie on either side, but I think/hope it's not pregnancy related just a by product of getting older !!
Im also eating loads of bread, something I never normally do but it's all I can be bothered to eat, glad to know we are all in the same boat

Sparky321 · 12/11/2013 21:16

Itsalways I would ask for the 48 hr blood tests to get your hcg levels checked and then to see how they react in 48hrs

mummyzoe2012 · 12/11/2013 21:58

Hi... just got my bfp on sat.. midwife app was today due around the 9th. I lost a baby at 7 weeks in april this year so lots of hand holding needed please! It will be my 2nd child i have a dd who is 2 in jan and is a gem!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 12/11/2013 22:12

Thanks sparky and pearls. I wish I'd asked about that at the time. I think I have a number for the EPU, so maybe I will ask them. Thanks.

liquidstate · 12/11/2013 23:18

Have just got back from romantic holiday in Cornwall. Husband grumpy as the nausea meant I wasn't in the mood for hot loving and we had to keep stopping to car for me to vomit Grin. Am back at work tomorrow and dreading it. Back aching but am recovering from whiplash so it could be that.

Am eating lots of bread though trying not too... Should be easier now am back from staying adjacent to a small village bakery Smile. Midwife appointment not till 26th when I will be 8+4, but I had to decide over the phone whether to have the birth at Reading or Basingstoke Confused. In the meantime really worrying about tests and scans etc as I am an older first time mum.

SmallOlympianBear · 12/11/2013 23:36

Wow much chat! Blue, same thing happened to me so I understand your worry. Will you have an early scan? Lemon, sounds a bit strange that they won't refer you to the hospital you want to use. I guess it may vary between health trusts but at my GP's surgery they let you choose. Is it worth checking with a midwife? Coco, giggling at the idea of eating gerkins in the toilet! During my last pregnancy i spent a lot of time staring longingly at the pickled eggs in the supermarket. Could never quite actually buy them though :) Liquid, Dint know about Boringstoke, but I thought that the midwives at the Royal Berks were fab.

SmallOlympianBear · 12/11/2013 23:42

Liquid, I'm a bit worried about tests too. Would like to do the harmony test - but havent round here that does it for less than £595 though!!!!

SmallOlympianBear · 12/11/2013 23:43

... Haven't found anywhere round here...

lemonpoppyseed · 13/11/2013 00:37

Liquid, I'm sure you stopping to throw up every now and then really killed the mood Grin not quite the 'romantic' getaway planned!

So, came home from work today to a message from the doctor's office asking me to call tomorrow. Eek. My mind automatically thinks the worst. I had a blood and urine test last week. What if I dreamt this all, and there's no baby in there? What if there's a problem? Oh my. And of course I have a busy morning tomorrow, so won't get five minutes peace to call until around 11:00. Not looking forward to night of tossing and turning whilst I speculate wildly...

englishteacher78 · 13/11/2013 06:36

It's official this morning. Despite having just bought a bra size up on Saturday, I need another cup size up already! Does this breast growth thing settle down at all?
I'm considering getting a scan privately if my appointment is not until after Christmas - don't have my first appointment with Doctor until Monday.
I have asthma, a history of depression and my mother was hospitalised for the last month when expecting me with pre-eclampsia. Will they have to monitor me more do you think?

Sparky321 · 13/11/2013 07:10

Lemon, I'm sure everything is ok I got called back after mine because they were higher than the expected I know it is difficult I get the results on the 2nd blood test today and although I can. Not do anything about it I keep wishing that my hcg levels have gone up to over 7000 barely slept but m sure we will both be ok.
English, I really would love my boobs to get bigger, as I'm sure dh would :) so I don know when they settle down.
To everybody else have a lovely safe day x

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/11/2013 08:00

Good luck Sparky. Hope you get good news today.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/11/2013 08:01

Oh and to lemonpoppyseed, and anyone else with worries!

BlueC2 · 13/11/2013 08:16

Morning all-thinking of those with docs apps today-hope all ok!

smallbear I have requested an early scan though doc seemed v clueless and ditsy last week so gonna phone and see if she did actually request it! We may get a private one otherwise but funds v tight at moment.

DS1 up at 3.30am-not sure why but I couldn't get back to sleep properly and then woke up hungry and nauseous around 6.30 so gonna be sleep walking after I've taken him for his swimming lesson this morning!

English I used to be a 32d pre DS and ended up with feeding bras in 34G!! I spent a fortune on bras last time and hoping I can follow similar growth this time to reuse!

I'm with everyone on the carbs thing-toast, crumpets and potato! Yummy Hmm

Pearlsaplenty · 13/11/2013 08:33

Good luck with the blood test result sparky and to lemon with the phonecall!

Can't help you there english I think boob changes are very individual. Mine only went up one size and that was in the last couple of months of pregnancy, they went back to their normal size again after about 6 months of breastfeeding. I hope they do the same again, it is such a nuisance buying new bras, especially breastfeeding ones as it is so hard to find ones that actually make them look ok as well as being comfortable.

ismarah · 13/11/2013 08:39

Morning all,

Am seeing GP this morning to tell him about bean and hope he won't be his usual jerk.

Liquid I've not heard great things about Basingstoke or Guildford. Think I'll be at Frimley Park..

English I don't think any of your issues necessarily warrant more monitoring but I know being over 35 is usually an automatic trigger for a 'high-risk' stamp on you. Many of the same issues here so I've googled till my fingers were blue. I'm 36 now, 37 by the time bean arrives and it's also my first.

On the plus side I decided to go armed with new test to Drs this morning so now I have a shiny new CB digi that says 3weeks+ ! \o/

Cravings so far are mostly oats and cinnamon. Adore cinnamon nutrigrain bars.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/11/2013 09:45

I phoned the EPU at the hospital this morning, and they were really nice and booked me in for an early scan at 6 weeks. It's still over a week away, but a bit less time than the GP wanted me to wait. I asked about blood tests but apparently not. Still at least I have a bit less time to wait for the scan.

Hard to concentrate at work and I'm going to have to work late a cou

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/11/2013 09:47

Whoops, stupid phone!

I'm going to have to work late to make up the time missed for the scan - joys of being self employed and not able to tell clients!

Anyway - have a good day everyone.

Littleangel21 · 13/11/2013 09:57

Hi all.

Wow, there is a lot of chat. I've been reading but have been manic at work.

Lemon - I have my fingers crossed for you, I'm sure it'll be all ok. Let us know.

It's always better- are you having an internal scan? My GP said that if I wanted one that early it would have to be internal. I declined but maybe he was just wrong.

I'm feeling sick for the first time. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. And I'm struggling to relax at night, feel full of adrenaline and can't sleep.

I wish everyone loads of luck with their days are it is a struggle! Xxx

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 13/11/2013 10:16

I don't know whether it's internal, but I'm guessing it probably will be at this stage.

LadyGoneGaga · 13/11/2013 12:14

I've had scans at 6 weeks that were not internal. I think if they can't get a clear view they may then need to do vaginal.

Littleangel21 · 13/11/2013 12:20

Ok, good to know. I might try to get an earlier scan. Because the anxiety is killing me. Thanks x
