Good luck sanji hope you get a room soon.

pseudo my lochia settled down really early and then yesterday came back bright red with lots of mucus (sorry tmi). Did you say you were seeing mw? Any suggestions??

OrangeBlossom2 · 22/10/2013 20:21

Thank you for posting that roofio Thanks

Woohoo Thomas put on 120g over the last two days, double the midwife's target. So proud of him and quite proud of me for feeding him up. Now back up to 90% of his birthweight and jaundice also getting better.

What are we meant to do with the umbilical cord stump area once it falls off? It looks quite brown and squishy, pretty sure it isn't poo in there but looks like that. I think we will attempt a bath tomorrow but should we be washing it?

OrangeBlossom2 · 22/10/2013 20:23

Good luck sanji

chickieno1 · 22/10/2013 20:35

Well done on weight gain baby orange

Leave umbilical cord clean and dry as before. Bath will be fine

JellyCurls · 22/10/2013 21:08

I can't keep up since DH has gone back to work.

JellyBaby is crying and drawing his knees up in pain and not sure what to do. Have been using Infacol since we got home from hospital, tried tummy massage, we giving him water to drink and trying all sorts of wonderful holds and still he cries. I am exhausted and sore from carrying him and have started bleeding heavily again, actually bleeding heavier now than I did post section - sorry for TMI.

Anybody got any ideas?

Congrats on the new babies

apperleydapperley · 22/10/2013 21:18

Congrats to the new babies and mummies Thanks

Jelly have you tried putting baby on your sholder and going up and down stairs quite vigorously (as much as you can with a little baby) - it used to work for DS1 - it would shift the wind for him...

Also have started bleeding again today after it almost totally stopping, seems its happening to a few so hopefully its normal.

I was also feeling a bit sad today about lack of cards and gifts for DS2 - this is DC3 so they have really diminished compared to last 2. as shooting says they are just as special this time, even if everyone else has lost interest in us having babies.

Good luck sanji and anyone else SWIL or IP and hang on in there to those SC/SFW Cake

Shootingstarsandcomets · 22/10/2013 21:22

Good luck sanji and well done orange
Sorry jelly no advice other than do the massage throughout the day whenever you get the chance, I found it really helped ds1. He then grew out of windiness by about 10 weeks ish but I know that sounds like forever away.
I'm glad others are also lacking in cards for dc2 Grin

roxvox · 22/10/2013 21:56

Sounds as though quite a few of us have babies who refuse to sleep in their cot! I love my little girl to bits, but if she could make use of the NCT bednest which is currently being used as a makeshift bedside table then I'd really appreciate it!

xuntitledx · 22/10/2013 22:13

LO has lots of wind and now 2 very explosive runny poos this evening.

When should I start worrying?

Flyer747 · 22/10/2013 22:14

My goodness I had rent enough hours in the day to catch up on anything.

Clapham hope all on with the bp

Sanji good luck with the induction.

So trying to only bfeed now and Alexandra has only done two shitty nappies today one was only a tiny amount of poo.

I was told she needed to have 5-6 per day so now worrying she's not getting enough milk from me as she only latches for 15 mins approx any advice greatly appreciated x

xuntitledx · 22/10/2013 22:19

flyer - think its 5-6 wet nappies p/day not necessarily poopy.

This morning my LO had only done 1 poopy per day and midwife said that's fine.

Opposite problem now though (as above)!

Sanjifair · 22/10/2013 22:22

Ok, so there has been a shift change, and the new midwife has decided to do the gel. Which is ok by me, at least something is happening.

Flyer747 · 22/10/2013 22:33

Oh and I've only shed a stone in weight! Highly offended thought I'd shed at least a stone and a half especially as Alex was so heavy!

GTbaby · 22/10/2013 22:48

Flyer it's still early days! Give it some time.

roxvox · 22/10/2013 23:02

flyer the health visitor told me Ailla needed 6 or so wet nappies, and 2 poos the size of a £2 coin per day (sometimes she just does one a day but sizeable!)

Flyer747 · 22/10/2013 23:09

Thanks Rox, who'd have thought that this time last year if be excited to see a shitty nappy! Grin

Sanjifair · 22/10/2013 23:17

Ok, I am now officially IP.

Last time I gave birth at the same place, and had been told by the day shift after a pessary that I would be left overnight to see what happened without further intervention. Then the night shift came on and completely changed all the plans and sent me straight to the delivery unit for ARM and the drip.

This time, day shift said go straight for ARM with no gel or pessary but would have to wait until delivery unit free. Night shift said no way could they do ARM without the gel first, let's get on with it and delivery unit will have to deal with it if I go into labour.

Get this though, it is the same bloke on the night shift as 3 years ago! I reckon he likes to contradict whatever the day shift says...office politics on the ante-natal ward!!

Tarlia · 22/10/2013 23:50

Chickie sorry you are having a tough time. So scary about waking to find DD on the bed. I've nothing to suggest, sorry, other than have you tried heating the cot before putting her in. I got the bum cleared up for a few days by bathing him with a handful of porridge chucked in. However it's back now as he poos constantly.

Haha sanji I think he is standing his male ground. He does talk crap though as if you are more than 3cm they can break waters without gel. Still, at least you won't have the 24hr limit.

Not even 5 weeks and he has caught DS cold :( weirdly I'm the only one who hasn't yet.

Tarlia · 22/10/2013 23:51

Sorry I also meant to say good luck with the induction x

Shootingstarsandcomets · 22/10/2013 23:52

Go sanji hope things progress well for you
flyer welcome to the world of obsessing over baby poo!! 5-6 wet and poopy sounds right. B has gad two small poos today, both yellow so presume that means he is getting milk as the green has gone yay!
Who else mentioned Ewan the easy dream sheep? I've dug him out as he worked for ds..........not this baby though, no easy dreaming going on here.

Sanjifair · 22/10/2013 23:57

tarlia I am only 1 cm dilated but the first midwife said she would be able to break waters and therefore the delivery unit definitely would be able to. I was surprised by that tbh, I had expected to be given the gel.

GTbaby · 23/10/2013 00:19

Aww Ewan the sheep! Ds1 was good with Ewan. Tried it one day with lo but didn't seem to phase him.

With dS1 he was almost 3 months tho. And lo only 5days when I tried it. So that may have something to do with it.

Lo has just had a 15 min feed Confused seems to have settled in carry cot. However 15 mins isn't going to last long in terms of a full tummy.

He keeps stiring. Oh he has woken. Right lets feed him up. Lol

TheFalconsmistress · 23/10/2013 01:27

I am still having mucous red bleeding too it nearly disappeared a few times but always its been returning the next day I am only really getting it on wiping now and thats me nearly 5 weeks post birth feels like it will never end!!

kiwee · 23/10/2013 02:34

mrsh sorry you're having a tough time bf. You may have already tried this, but as another one with big breasts and small baby, I've found the 'football hold' to be really good (and when C was really little the only way I could manage to feed her). Trick is to get her well raised up on a pillow so at the right height for nipple when I'm sitting up. If you've already tried that then please ignore!

Congratulations on all the new arrivals Smile

chickieno1 · 23/10/2013 02:50

Thanks tarlia warming the cot with hot water bottle already. Going to try harder to put her back in cot tonight. It's 9.30pm here and she's asleep in cot now. I'm going to try and sleep for an hour and then wake her for feed, nappy change, re settle. Dh working tonight so just me.......

shooting also feel sad re lack of cards etc for second dc. We did get a lot of lovely messages on FB though.

I think I bled for about 6weeks after ds falcon hope not the same this time.

rox does A sleep in bed nest at all? Are you sleeping at night??

Good luck sanji

Hope we all get some sleep xx
