Ah Vikks I'm so happy for you and your family!

Spirael · 11/10/2013 16:53

Well done Moomin and excellent news, Vikks! :)

I have a 3 year old to tell at some point too, but I'm not anticipating any problems. We've been hinting over the past month or so that we might invite a baby to come and live with us, and she's indicated that she'd like that and would enjoy being a big sister.

She's pretty chilled out, I expect her reaction will be along the lines of "That's nice Mummy. Can I watch more Octonauts?". Grin

We're taking her to the scan on the 31st, so we can (hopefully) show her the blob on screen. Gives her something tangible to work with, rather than just taking our word!

FacebookStoleMyLife · 11/10/2013 16:57

aww thistle I feel for you, last Friday was like that for me, there were tears. Still feeling pretty rubbish but not unmanageable like it was (9 +4).

Blue thinking about you too, I had bleeding in my first pregnancy and all was well so I don't know if that helps at all. But I do know how scary it is so try to get a scan if you can if only to reassure yourself. Is there an early pregnancy unit near you? Ours you just call and come in, you don't need doctors referral.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet this week, bad news with pregnancies on here and in RL have scared me an made posting hard. But I'm coming round.

PFJ Lovely to see you, we miss you so if you fancy floating in and out you can be our guardian angel :)

Vikks amazing scan news, what a start to the weekend!

My notes are green too (sorry can't remember who said theirs were) and they really wound me up! I can get a bit militant about these things but in what life is it any of their business what our partners job is?! Or how many other children he has?! I can sort of see how my job is relevant in case I do something dangerous but certainly not his. After those and a good 50 awfully phrased and often pointless questions I was ready to throw them out the window. And one day they'd better stop asking for marital status on these forms because it's not like they need to check whether the owner of the notes is male or female so they DON'T NEED TO ASK! Grrrr, rant over

Vikks · 11/10/2013 17:14

I've posted a scan picture (hopefully) x

mumof2aimingfor4 · 11/10/2013 17:15

facebook it was me with the green notes. Shite colour eh. Are you in west london?
I agree with the stupid questions especially when I get embarrassed that my OH went from a hunky royal marine to a health and safety/risk management nerd! ;)

dobedobedo · 11/10/2013 17:17

Aww Vikks that's so awesome! It looks like a little person already! I had a scan at 7 weeks and I could just see a peanut shaped blob!

Can't wait for the 12 week one. two weeks to go!

impatientlywaiting · 11/10/2013 17:24

Saw your scan pic Vikks. The photo is really small on my screen, but very very cute. Congratulations on what sounds like a tough road to getting here. How amazing to have been told to expect the worst and here you are with a healthy little bean.

Facebook I completely agree about asking about your partners job. Couldn't believe that they asked that, but didn't bother to ask about my job!!

Ladies I have always known that we had a lovely thread, but today I am most appreciative of you all. I've had an unexpected day off from work and to amuse myself thought I'd read through a couple of the other antenatal threads!! Wowza, there are a few particularly spikey ones out there, with people who are so far up their own bum that they can't seem to grasp that other people might have different view points, and try and bulldoze everyone into their opinions with the undertone that if you disagree with them you're clearly stupid. I was about to log in and post saying something along those lines, and then realised it would be completely ridiculous and quite confrontational of me to do so. So instead ran back to the bossom of our lovely thread where people actually seem to like and respect each other.

loopylou52 · 11/10/2013 17:26

Yay, congrats vikks, what an amazing day for you.

Facebook - sorry but your rant made me laugh because I thought at first that you were angry because they were green. And then I wondered if the colour of notes they gave you actually meant something specific (which I know is crazy). Clearly I need a weekend! I do agree some of the questions do seem pointless though.

dobedobedo · 11/10/2013 17:28

I have green notes too!

bluestone85 · 11/10/2013 17:29

Thanks Facebook. I might see how it goes and speak to mw on weds. If it gets any worse I will definitely go to my epau xx

mumof2aimingfor4 · 11/10/2013 17:31

Aww vikks your scan pic has made me all emotional! I love it! I would have a football team if we could afford it!

impatiently im going to have a nosey at the other threads you've intrigued me. Have to agree though we do have a lovely lot!

moobaloo · 11/10/2013 17:31

Vikks the picture is beautiful! Look at your prefect little bean. Sooo exciting!!!! xx

impatientlywaiting · 11/10/2013 17:41

Mumof2 I'll give you a clue. They are about as chatty as us Maybies, and aren't too far ahead of us.

impatientlywaiting · 11/10/2013 17:42

Thistle, I think you need to be on a computer, I've never been able to do it on the app.

You click on the persons name, which takes you to their profile and there is a section for their photos.

mumof2aimingfor4 · 11/10/2013 17:43

mumof2aimingfor4 · 11/10/2013 18:00

I started reading but I found their chatter boring in comparison to ours! ;) I freaking hate it when people are up their own asses.
Just opened a pack of cherry bakewells, got shite loads as they were on special, help yourselves ladies Cake

Vikks · 11/10/2013 18:02

Love bakewells!!!! Let me at 'em

moobaloo · 11/10/2013 18:03

mmmm cherry bakewells! Thank you mumof2 I am actually sat here eating cherry tomatoes and they are scrummy - I'm halfway through the packet!

FacebookStoleMyLife · 11/10/2013 18:04

LOOPY hehehe, that made me chuckle. Nope I have no problem with the colour green ;)

mumof2 I'm South London and I think they use these green ones in a fair few London hospitals.

ooh impatiently I'm intrigued, I might have a nose over there over the weekend. There was me thinking being supportive and open was the whole point of these forums, ho hum. Let's make a pact that when we're discussing breast v bottle, sleep training or weaning in later weeks that we'll be nice to each other. There are no wrong or right choices (except maybe hanging babies from the rafters to sleep, or filling bottles with vodka...), we have to pick for ourselves and making other mums feel bad about their decisions is just crappy :)
