Agree MoN you look amazing and have been through so much. I am so cross about how you have been treated recently but mainly just hoping Eliana will be ok. Do you know what the new diagnosis means and what the treatment is?

claphammama · 03/10/2013 21:08

You look amazing MoN and Eliana is beautiful. What a darling. Glad you managed to hold her at least for a minute. Hope you are OK tonight and will manage to get some sleep. I had the same thought as bridget, how lovely of you to be concerned about the lady next to you. Most people in your situation would be totally self-centered with no time and energy for anyone else xxx

pink sorry you are feeling so low tonight. I totally understand and get moments like this too. Hope you manage to relax and have a better evening once your DS is in bed.

nat I'm sure it will be OK. I understand the fear but I haven't met a woman who struggled to bond with DC2 once the baby arrived. I bet, once he is here, you will flood our FB with beautiful photos of him and will be completely head over heels. It's only a matter of days now Smile

flyer good to have you back!!

sorry if I'm forgetting anyone... you've been very chatty today! My DS have been driving me crazy today and told me that I "hurt his feelings" because I shouted at him earlier... hmmm

OrangeBlossom2 · 03/10/2013 21:10

Flyer glad to have you back and really sorry to hear your sad news.

textbook · 03/10/2013 21:26

MoN I agree with everyone else - you are so incredibly brave (and look fantastic in your photo Smile) I've been thinking of you all afternoon, Eliana looks beautiful in your Fbook pics, and I'm so glad you got to hold her. Can't believe how callous the doctors have been though - you should have been given all the information about her condition from the outset. Stay strong, and big congratulationsThanksThanksThanks

Flyer glad to have you back, and so sorry to hear your news. Hope you're doing ok Thanks LOVE the pudding accessories btw - it'd be rude not to dress the babies up festively Grin

GTbaby · 03/10/2013 21:38

Oh no flyer. That will be hard and totally understand u wanting to hide away.

I just been hiding as either baby 1 or 2 get in the way. Ds2 has been Velcro stuck to me last few days.
Still only feeding on one side. But bought nipple shields today so hope to get him on to the other side tonight.

Seeing ds2 react to the baby is so cute. When he cries he crawled over to his Moses basket and strains to look inside.
Yesterday ds1 kept trying to grab baby's hand. When I finally let him hold onto the sleeve. He smiled and start sucking his thumb and just rested his head on my lap my heart melted.
Looking forward to seeing them play together and become close.
Oh dear totally sappy moment.

A bit Angry at my nursing bra totally digging into my arm put. So annoying. Got to order the bravado bra. Wanted to wait to see if I could bf. think I'm doing ok enough to want a few nursing items. Tempted by the jumper flayer n clapham bought.

Right. Ill never catch up ThanksThanksThanksThanks WineWineWineBrewBrewBrewBrew For all the new mums.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 03/10/2013 21:54

MoN, I'm sure its the last thing on your mind at the minute but I really feel you should complain about your treatment. It's appalling the way you have been kept in the dark, there is no excuse. I'm glad you got a cuddle though and hope you get some rest tonight. Flowers x

Flyer so sorry to hear about your friend. X

GT - that is so sweet. It's lovely to hear about your little family :)

Pinkforboys · 03/10/2013 22:16

I agreee with everyone else- MoN you look amazingly good in your photos and Eliana too. You know you'll have all our prayers and support behind the two of you for the next stage. Hope you get to Yorkhill soon xxx

moonblues · 03/10/2013 22:17

MoN I'm so sorry that the communication has been so poor with the hospital. Eliana sounds like such a fighter, she must get her strength from you. Hope you manage to get some sleep and get out of hospital ASAP.

flyer so sorry to hear about your friend.

dontworryjustpanic · 03/10/2013 22:24

MoN am very sad to hear you've had more bad news thrown at you but so glad you got to hold eliana. I really hope you get to have some proper cuddles with her very soon. Wishing you both all the best.

Bridget & Nat I too have been having similar worries about the new arrival. Everybody else seems so impatient to go into labour but I could do with a bit longer to prepare myself!

MotherOfNations · 03/10/2013 22:26

Thankyou everyone for all your lovely comments.
Dd says that it looks like Eliana has Dp's chin. Poor thing, another Desperate Dan lookalike.
The lovely midwife who came in shift a while ago has said that there shouldn't be a problem with me staying at Yorkhill with Eliana once I'm discharged. She's going to push for me to be released early. She's also just phoned Yorkhill for an update for me. She has had some scans and is stable apparently.

Pinkforboys · 03/10/2013 22:27

I managed to get halfway through the bedtime routine then had to handover to DH to go hurl. Feel a bit better, oh the joys of being pg...

GT your DCs sound so lovely- a great welcome to no.3.

I've been really worried about DS and how he's coping with the prospect of no.2 appearing on the scene. He's being quite sweet cuddling and prodding my bump, and promising to teach her how to walk... but on the flip side I've got an appt now to see the school CAMHS woman to get some guidance as to how to support him thru the change. His low moods worried me. Parenting is hard work [sigh]
How are everyone else's older DCs coping with the imminent change? Any tips?!?

Flyer747 · 03/10/2013 22:30

Mon I'm really pleased you have a nice midwife. I hope they keep you updated on her progress until you can get to Yorkhill...x

MrsO27 · 03/10/2013 22:36

Congrats jelly, mon and doobee. Hope I've not missed anyone, it's starting to get busy with babies.
Sorry to hear your news flyer Thanks
I've not been on the thread as much this week but trying to keep up. Have I missed any updates from fav? Was really awful what happened.

SeriousStuff · 03/10/2013 22:36

Just a quick message from me while I can still open my eyes! Well, where do I begin? Mabli Elan Benjamin, born 3rd October 2013 (10 days early!), weighing 5lbs 6oz. Quite a traumatic/intense birth. First twinges at 8pm, regular and very painful contractions at around 10pm, hospital at 1.15am then born at 2.39am (then home at 12pm!!). I was dilating at a rate of a centimetre per half hour and the pain was intense! Will write up properly here soon.

Unfortunately before we left hospital, she did fail two hearing tests - anyone else had this experience only for it to be ok at the follow-up appointment a few weeks later? As you can imagine, it's playing on my mind!

We are absolutely besotted with her and can't wait to start introducing her to family tomorrow x

Flyer747 · 03/10/2013 22:40

Wow serious another 13th October baby born! Congratulations ThanksThanks

Pinkforboys · 03/10/2013 22:43

Congratulations Serious she's a beauty!!

Smitten1981 · 03/10/2013 23:12

Congrats Serious. Re. Hearing tests. My best friend's son failed three. Turns out he had fluid in his ear canal and that was the issue. He's a perfectly fine 2 year old with no hearing issues now.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 03/10/2013 23:14

Congratulations serious!!! Hope all is ok with Mabli's hearing, try not to worry. Love the name!

TheFalconsmistress · 03/10/2013 23:18

Congratulations Serious she is a beauty xxxx

PseudoBadger · 03/10/2013 23:23

Congratulations Serious!!

tuckingfits · 03/10/2013 23:26

Bloody hell!! What a day! Congratulations EVERYONE! I have spent the last 5 hours on & off (in between all my other duties) catching up. I know I will miss someone out so I apologise in advance.

MoN - congratulations on Eliana's arrival. I am so sorry that they have treated you so badly in terms of missing out great chunks of information that you should have had. I hope you get to Yorkhill soon. It keeps crossing my mind that I could offer you a lift but then I remember I am quite hugely pregnant myself & might make a promise I can't actually keep. It did occur to me that surely they can arrange a transport ambulance for you. I cannot imagine that they would expect you to get buses across the city... Your little girl is gorgeous, she has shown such fighting spirit thus far & with you for a mother I am convinced that she will continue to fight & confound her doctors.

Jellycurls - congratulations to you, I'm sorry you had such a scary time leading to the arrival of your little boy. I hope you are recovering OK & have your boy with you.

Oddlife - I hope you are OK & all went smoothly for you with a safe arrival.

Doobeedee - congratulations on Edward Peter's arrival. He looks gorgeous in the photo on fb.

Serious - congrats on your lovely little girl - fab name! Sounds like a bit of a surprising labour, but you don't look shocked in your photo, you look radiant.

Natalie - sorry you're feeling a bit low, I think it must be quite natural at this stage, you're due one day after me & I have been up & down like a yo-yo mood-wise. I had a shocking tantrum in front of my dad last night (most unfortunate, he isn't a very emotional or understanding man, he is lovely but emotions are not his strong point) & then spent the next hour or so in floods of sobs & tears. I feel a bit better today, so hopefully you are feeling better too, or at least due to feel better tomorrow.

Flyer - sorry to hear your sad news. Shocking. I had been wondering where you were. Look after yourself & your Christmas pudding.xx

Roofio - best of luck with your induction, I hope they get you underway tonight & that you have a smooth, easy birth. Are you hypnobirthing, or have I made that up?

Roxvox - glad they were happy enough to send you home, but if you are not happy please don't hesitate to go back. We have all consistently been told to trust our instincts, don't sit at home worrying etc & that they are happy to check us & reassure us. Except for the shit treatment falcon received...

To pseudo, tarlia, pinkbuttons - I hope your BPs are behaving now & that you all feel ok.

This is the point at which I run out of memory. I think I've done pretty well but I know there is more I wanted to say to other ladies. I should have taken notes, but I would still be reading if I had... Best wishes & love to all.

I had a sweep done by my consultant this morning. I am 38+4. I didn't think it would happen because I doubted I would be favourable as I haven't been able to even reach my cervix. Anyway, she performed a "vigorous" sweep, I was 1cm dilated cervix soft but long. I was astonished that I didn't even find it more than mildly uncomfortable. I am sure I was climbing the walls when I had the first two sweeps with DS... Either that MW was shit at them, or the consultant was an expert/my hypnobirthing relaxation is amazingly effective or the pain of my pgp from laying on my back cancelled out the discomfort of the sweep.

Anyway, whatever it was I'm glad it didn't hurt :). I have had mild cramping on & off but no bloody show, nothing regular, nothing major & don't think I'm on the move yet. She has booked me to see her again next Thursday in case I haven't laboured yet. She seemed to think it was unlikely I would see her next week... I also found out the details of my ELCS if I don't go naturally. It'll be 23rd Oct, need to be at the hospital at 7.30am (live about an hour away & am bloody awful at getting up) for a planned start time of 8.30am. Fingers firmly crossed that it doesn't come to that.

OK, I think this mahoosive essay is plenty to be going on with. Hope everyone is OK & either sleeping well or labouring effectively!

tuckingfits · 03/10/2013 23:27

flyer is it just you & me left for 13th?? Race ya!

roxvox · 03/10/2013 23:29

Congratulations MoN, Eliana is a gorgeous little girl! She's very lucky to have such a kind and caring mummy. I hope you can get discharged soon to make it over to Yorkhill and see her again.

Congrats SeriousStuff! I've had loads of Braxton hicks today so now you've got me wondering...! Sorry you had such a painful birth, but Mabli looks like a beautiful little girl so I am sure she makes up for it all Smile ... I was told (randomly) by the midwife the other day that newborns often fail the first hearing test(s) due to amniotic fluid in their ear canals.

Thank you for all of your support today ladies. Baby has been much more active this evening. DH keeps saying that baby was trying to be good and let me rest a bit before I go into labour "this weekend" (he seems convinced for some reason). Fingers crossed he's right!

moonblues · 03/10/2013 23:42

Congratulations Serious!

Flyer747 · 03/10/2013 23:47
