Happy birthday humpty. Fab news about your niece Sarah.

Fx it gets easier for you space.

I'm knackered today. Finally got myself to swimming again last night which I really enjoyed just need to go more often now!

Sultanajo · 03/10/2013 07:41

Yay Nature! It's great once you are there isn't it and while you are swimming you think "I will come much more often", but the thought of it next time puts you off for some reason! I WILL go swimming on Sunday this week! I WILL!!!

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 07:50

Good to see you, space :) Lovely to have you still with us! You're doing a great thing, trying to express. Look after yourself Flowers

sarahl, that is fab news about your niece!

Happy birthday, Humpty!

This morning I am desperate for a peanut butter sandwich and a cup of coffee. Rennies are on hand for immediately afterwards!

MrsAVB · 03/10/2013 08:34

Happy birthday humpty, hope you have a good day and get some lovely prezzies! despite having to work. And I think we need a picture of the Lego cake.
Well I have joined the heartburn gang, it woke me at 2am this morning. Have never had heartburn before so it was a bit of a shock! Any tips?
space - you are being so brave, sounds like you're doing amazingly! Hope that doesn't sound patronising.
sarah so pleased to hear about your niece Smile

extracrunchy · 03/10/2013 08:47

Happy birthday Humpty! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 03/10/2013 09:05

Anybody know if we use anything for insect bites. I have two whoppers on my leg that are driving me mad. I'll ask mw later anyway but wondered if there was anything I could pick up before then.

TarkaTheOtter · 03/10/2013 09:27

I have eczema and have been allowed to use steroid creams on it whilst pregnant so I'd have thought anything with hydrocortisone would be ok as it is about as mild a steroid as you can get and would only be on a tiny area. Should stop the itching.

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 09:45

Witch Hazel gel is excellent. I keep one in my bag and one in the bathroom at all times. Spots, bites, itchiness, whatever.

BookTart · 03/10/2013 09:45

Happy birthday humpty!
So glad things are going well space, but OUCH for your poor nips!
Someone else asked if it was twins this morning Angry I have consoled myself with a currant bun. I think I know why people think I'm having twins now Cake

chocoloulou33 · 03/10/2013 10:06

Thanks toby & another will check them out.
space my cousin had her baby at 30 weeks a couple of months ago. I know not as early as u hun but sounds like u going thru same thing. She had trouble expressing at first too but soon got hang of it. He came home after 4 weeks and is now so so strong you would never think he was so tiny. Make sure you rest when you can though ok xx
sarah great news about your niece.
happy birthday humpty Cake
MrsA I really suffer with heartburn and best things ive found are gaviscon double action tablets x

enjoyingscience · 03/10/2013 10:27

Happy birthday humpty

Well done on the expressing space, I had to syringe feed DS for a few days after he was born, until my milk came in, and I was getting minute amounts. It's so concentrated and full of goodness they hardly need any. You're doing amazingly well :)

I'm full of house sale/purchase rage today. Looks like our chain is falling to bits, so we might have to go into rented and house hunt with a new born. Not frigging ideal.

Sultanajo · 03/10/2013 10:51

Oh no enjoying! That royally sucks! Not surprised you have rage!!!

Book your comment made me laugh! Don't worry about the twins comment - am sure I will get the same next time my mates see me who I haven't seen in a while!

MrsA frickin heartburn - it got me three times last night! Rennies are the only thing I can stomach - they seem to do the trick to let me get back to sleep. Also having to prop myself up quite a bit as if I lay horizontal it comes on within seconds!

Toby I had peanut butter on toast this morning - it just felt like a Peanut Butter morning at 4.30am!!!

Well, the shoulder pain is still lingering on - it comes and goes every few mins and is really really beginning to piss me off now! Hopefully tonight I will be so tired that I will be able to just sleep through the pain.....

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 10:57

YY Rennies are the only thing. Also, homemade milkshakes help a bit. But not in the middle of the night.

My sandwich was delicious! I want another one now.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder pain, Sultana. Is it muscular?

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 10:57

enjoying, what a bastard! That's the last thing you need :(

MrsGSR · 03/10/2013 11:50

enjoying I hope you get it sorted out soon!

Happy birthday humpty! The lego cake sounds amazing.

space he is gorgeous, thank you for staying with us and keeping us updated :)

Homemade milkshakes sound amazing!

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 11:58

I just finished a milkshake actually. 1 banana, half a glass of hazelnut milk (or skimmed milk), and a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. I put a few ice cubes in too. Blend. Drink.

The hazelnut milk was an experiment because I'm not keen on normal milk, but it actually tastes nicer made with skimmed Cravendale and seems to have a better effect on the heartburn.

alteredimages · 03/10/2013 12:04

Happy birthday humpty! DHs bday is on sunday and mine is monday but I can't think what to do without a babysitter. I don't think he'd be impressed with a puppet show, which is about all DD is good for. Grin

sarah, such good news about your niece! Here's hoping she goes from strength to strength.

space congratulations again on idris' birth, and what a great name! tbh, idris is the name i'd picked too, but DH has boringly vetoed it. Fenugreek is great for helping milk come in but not good if you have asthma. It tastes rank but does work.

BookTart · 03/10/2013 12:05

I have enough rage to sort the house sale tossers out for you today enjoying, just say the word and I'll be over to stomp on them.

The cafe in the library where I work has a special offer on banana milkshakes this month. I can confirm that they help with heartburn :)

sarah, I'm so happy that your niece is doing so well - what a little trouper!

Sultanajo · 03/10/2013 12:07

It's definitely the milk and the vanilla ice cream that sort out the heartburn! I can also recommend adding some mint choc chip (minus the banana) to cover up the milk flavour (I hate milk) and add some refreshment! Now I have a craving, but don't have any of the ingredients!

Toby I am not sure it's muscular as it doesn't hurt when I move my arm, head or shoulder. I wonder if it's a nerve - it feels like period pain but in my shoulder, the way it comes and goes..... I have felt similar before on occasion before being preggers and it has usually sorted itself out. I think just not being able to take anything to take the edge off means it's getting a bit wearing now.... An ice cream milkshake would certainly take the edge off! Wink

Lots of nice kicks from bubs is helping though Grin 28 weeks tomorrow - officially the start of the 3rd trimester! Wow! How has that happened!!!

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 12:12

altered, you and I are birthday twins :o

I started a thread about heartburn in desperation last week. Someone suggested mint choc chip ice cream on there, too, Sultana. So it MUST be true :o

I sometimes get a sharp pain under my shoulderblade for a day or 2. It's horrible, and because it's under the bone it can't be got at with massage or anything. Poor you :(

Lalunya85 · 03/10/2013 13:23

first off all thanks for all the tipps yesterday ladies - the ice cold drink actually helped! and just lying still for a while... but I'll still go to the hospital tomorrow, to be sure. i don't have a doppler, so even just having the heartbeat measured would be a relief.

Happy birthday humpty!!

heartburns! i'm on that team too... and I put far too much chili in my pumpkin, cinnamon, chili soup today, so will suffer the consequences in due course... shudder

oh, and just a final note on yesterday's to-spa-or-not-to-spa dispute: I am addicted to massages - reflexology is my favourite! who on here said they were a train reflexologist? sorry, forgot! And I love saunas and pools and the general feeling of doing nothing other than drinking fresh fruit juice (milk shakes?) for a day in a really quiet place, reading a book. that said, i would take a day out rock climbing over a spa trip any (or most...) days! and no wax on foreign hands will ever come near me. or mud wraps or chocolate peelings...

TobyLerone · 03/10/2013 13:27

I'm making butternut squash and sweet potato soup today, Lalunya, and I'm not going to make the same mistake I made with the tomato one where I roasted the tomatoes with chillies and forgot to take them out before I blended it. That heartburn was epic, even with the lemon juice, sugar and cream I added to tone it down.

I'm a reflexologist. I qualified when DD was a baby.

Sultanajo · 03/10/2013 13:34

Toby DH had that a couple of weeks ago and had me trying to get under his shoulder blade while trying not to be grossed out! Lol! Very frustrating for him though. This pain doesn't seem to be helped with shoulder rubbing which is almost as bad....

Mint choc chip definitely works! Plus I LOVE mint choc chip so it's an absolutely bonus! Any excuse! Wink

Lalunya85 · 03/10/2013 14:11

toby, i just realised i said in the post above that you are a "train reflexologist"...trying to imagine what that would look like! Grin

i also roasted my pumpkin with chili flakes...i had no idea how spicy they are. oh well. nothing seems to help - and I've gone off milk since getting pregnant so can't even attempt the milkshake miracle cure...

Sultanajo · 03/10/2013 14:25

OMG chilli flakes are vicious! Lalunya what about some natural yoghurt?
