sorry about the crap messages Blush

sarahleanne · 03/10/2013 22:58

sultan I feel your shoulder pain! I have frozen shoulder and it radiates all the way down to my hand it's bloody horrible and it has got worse since being pregnant .

TarkaTheOtter · 03/10/2013 23:51

No heartburn for me yet either frizz. Last time only had it in the last few weeks.

BookTart · 04/10/2013 07:02

Luckily no heartburn for me yet, but I usually suffer from it horribly and have a lifetime supply of Omeprazole in the drawer if anyone wants me to pimp it out to them :)
Well, I've had a week of low movement but because she generally doesn't move a lot I've been okay with it. I've been able to prod her into action and have got a good hb on the home doppler. This morning though, I can't get her to do anything at all so I think I'm going to stay off work and call the midwife at 9. I'm sure the baby is just being a menace and hiding, but I think I need to get this checked out because I've tried all the hot baths/cold drinks and nothing has happened :(
extra that bear suit is on my spreadsheet for purchase :) Is it a pram suit or an indoors suit do you think? I am clueless about these things.

MrsVDB · 04/10/2013 07:18

book have you tried having a good poke then lieing down? I find that can work sometimes. Best to check with midwife if your worried though

BookTart · 04/10/2013 07:54

I've had a good prod and a lie down, I've had two glasses of cold juice, a cup of caffeinated tea, sugar on my porridge and a warm bath. I am nothing if not thorough:) She has a great hb again this morning, but I haven't had a kick for days and have only felt a little bit of movement. I've got no idea where she is at the moment either. I think I'll try to speak to my midwife (I've never actually managed to get through to her when I've tried before though), and see what she says. I do feel bad about not going to work because I know she's probably fine, but I think getting it checked is the sensible thing to do. I'll deal with the boss next week.

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 08:19

It's definitely the sensible thing to do, Book. They say that too many people with home dopplers use them instead of seeking medical reassurance. If you can't get through to her, call the WHH labour ward. They'll probably put you through to the Maternity Daycare Unit and they'll give you an appointment to see you today. The mws there are lovely :)

MrsVDB · 04/10/2013 08:43

MrsVDB · 04/10/2013 08:43

book my midwives only answer the phone between 8-9am then you leave a message at other times. Could yours be like this? Also midwife gave me direct number for movement assessment you call if your worried and you can arrange to go in for check when I went this week. Maybe call hospital and see if they have a similar service?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 04/10/2013 10:04

book definitely call or go in - better safe than sorry. Look at space - she could have ignored her labour symptoms, because we all worry about being labelled 'neurotic' or putting people out.

frizz you need a weekend off! Mentalist.

Lego cake went down well - am about to upload a pic to my profile. I might also do a covert bump shot in the bathroom later - it's been ages since I took one, and I'm 27 weeks today! Eek, third trimester is SEVEN days away!

BookTart · 04/10/2013 10:41

Nice cake humpty, but seeing it has made me eat a slice of lemon drizzle. Whoops!

Just back from maternity day care and they said all they can do at 26+5 is listen for a heartbeat (which is fine), because she is still too small to monitor. They have ordered a growth scan for me because I am only measuring 24 weeks, which is a very slight worry but I gather from Dr Google that fundal height measurements are all a bit rubbish anyway so I'm trying to calm myself down with more cake, seeing as I'm officially too small Everyone was lovely though, and I don't feel like too much of a mentalist, which is good.

Did you manage to get any sleep with your shoulder sultana?

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 10:46

My fundal height measurement was always a couple of weeks too small with DD. My MW eventually sent me for a scan at 32 weeks, repeated at 34 weeks. Everything was fine and she was 7lb 2oz born at 42 weeks, so not ridiculously tiny.

They told me in day care and when I was admitted that they do monitor after 26 weeks, because they wouldn't monitor me to see how strong the contractions were because I was 23 weeks or something Hmm
I'm sure it's not a WHH-specific problem, but I do find the conflicting information somewhat annoying.

It's funny that you and I are due date buddies and also booked in at the same hospital, Book :)

Cake looks delicious, Humpty.

I am so bored today.

Lalunya85 · 04/10/2013 11:15

Morning everyone! I'm dead tired today - the last three nights have been awful, I haven't managed to sleep more than 5 hours during each of them and it's starting to show. Got a lot of comments at work this morning about looking pale and thin - except for bump (finally) sticking out. I think I have to take things slower from now on!

I ended up not going to see MW today after all - baby was so active last night I felt reassured enough. Might go next week if movements slow down again.

All I want this weekend is cake and a sofa humpty can I grab a slice?? I don't even fancy doing any baby-window-shopping for a change! 6 hours to go in the office...it will be a loooong day!

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 11:19

Hope it goes quickly for you, Lalunya and you have a lovely, restful weekend.

extracrunchy · 04/10/2013 11:24

Lalunya that's how I'm feeling... Feel like I've just hit a wall of tiredness and am just willing myself through the day! Bleurgh... Doesn't help I keep having really late nights as now working from home and can't get away from work. Ironic it's actually turned out harder doing it at home! I'm 28 weeks (or possibly 30 if bonus scan a couple of weekends ago is anything to go by) - b-day feels like AGES away!!

Book - I measured under for whole of last pregnancy as well. Try not to worry! MW just said the system was outdated anyway and if you're 2cm or so over or under they don't worry. By the way, the bear suit is a pram suit I think! I deliberately got a less padded one as read lots of thinner layers are better, otherwise you end up with either very sweaty or cold baby.

Nearly the weekend everyone!

Lalunya85 · 04/10/2013 11:29

extra we'll get through this - but work is tiring! I struggle to concentrate and as a result am being very unefficient, so will probably end up staying later than I need to. Frustrating indeed! There will be better days I'm sure!

I'm 24 weeks (today, yuhu, does anybody else quietly celebrate every weekly anniversary??) and havent had a growth scan yet. Are they part of the regular care? I'm seeing my midwife in two weeks', should she do one then?

BookTart · 04/10/2013 11:34

Poor you lalunya, make sure you take it easy this weekend.

I have thought my scan dates were a week early all along toby. Because I had loads of tests the month I conceived because I was about to start fertility treatment I know almost exactly when I OVd and when we DTD and so on. There were also some measurements at the anomaly scan that were more like 19 weeks than 20, so I think my revised EDD is probably a bit out. And she's lying transverse at the moment, so that could also cause the measurement to be smaller.
Is choco at WHH as well? We could end up with a Mumsnet group labour situation if we aren't careful!

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 11:36

I can never even remember how many weeks I am Blush I can usually do the days ok because I know the weeks change over on a Sunday, but the actual number of weeks is regularly beyond me.

Growth scans aren't a normal part of your care in the UK. The only usual scans you have are at 12 and 20 weeks. Your MW would send you for a growth scan if she were worried, but if not, you've had all the NHS scans you're going to get!

Sorry for those of you struggling with work. I was complaining to DH last night about various ailments and then thinking how stupid it is to complain when most people manage this and a full-time job.

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 11:38

I thought it was just us two, Book, but I could be wrong. If I get to have a natural birth it'll be 2 weeks late if previous births are anything to go by, so it's unlikely we'll meet on the labour ward!

BookTart · 04/10/2013 11:38

Cheers extra - the bear suit may have just fallen into my virtual shopping basket Grin.
I'm not so worried that she's small as DP and his family are all little, but there is always a bit of a worry for me that she might have one of the trisomies. The combined test came back good for my advanced age, but I know it isn't 100% and DP's brother has Down's so it is always in the back of my mind. DP would definitely struggle to accept her if she did have Down's, and I'm a tiny bit concerned that low movement and low growth are anecdotally linked to anomalies.
But now I will stop being a pillock and go and eat some toast :)

Lalunya85 · 04/10/2013 11:43

toby, the thing with being off work is that you can focus on your ailments more, which makes them feel much worse. When I was really sick during the first four months I was off work quite a bit, but that made me feel even worse! Lying on the couch and feeling the sickness creep up... So I ended up at the office most days anyway because it provided a bit of distraction at least.

Spacefrog35 · 04/10/2013 11:44

Morning ladies. Hope you're all well. We're all good here Smile no major dramas & the little un just wee'd on the doctor. So proud!

Just wanted to echo a comment humpty made. If you're worried talk to someone & if you stay worried then make a fuss, stamp your feet & throw your toys on the floor until you get the reassurance you need. I felt something was wrong but as it had been checked I figured I was being paranoid. I don't want to give you the impression that every twinge is a catastrophe in waiting but anyone who doesn't take your concerns seriously is a cunt puffin & needs a swift kick x.

Lalunya85 · 04/10/2013 11:44

I'm definitely getting another scan at 34 weeks for my low-lying placenta. I'm worried about it, but at least it'll give me one more chance to have a peek at junior! Wink

Lalunya85 · 04/10/2013 11:45

Grin space! Well done Idris for peeing in action - very happy to hear that you're all doing well! How long will you be in the hospital for, have they given you any idea?

TobyLerone · 04/10/2013 11:49

Great to hear from you, space. So glad things are all good. Thinking of you all the time.
