blue! Glad you and baby are both okay. I took a tumble down some stairs at 20 weeks and had to go to A&E. Felt like a proper numpty.

Sounds like DS is on the mend mythree. Enjoy your work trip (in as much as it is possible to enjoy being at work, obviously :) )

I have spent the day with my mum and one of my brothers shopping. Everything now hurts, but I do have a lot of babygros to make up for it. They are all blue. I think she is going to develop gender identity issues fairly early on Grin

I am too scared to watch the videos mrsv, certainly while I'm not allowed a stiff drink!

Toothfairy78 · 23/10/2013 20:05

blue glad to hear you're ok. Take it easy. Xxx
sultana happy anniversary!
humpty your boss sounds dreadful. So really go for it!

Today's news is that I had to get help putting my socks on!

Right, I'm off to buy more bickies with which to bribe my German colleagues who I am training up to cover some of my work, then I might check out this video MrsVDB posted...

blue glad you are both ok!

tooth when DH is here I ask him to put my socks on, although have resorted to flip flops the last couple of days despite the pissing rain because my feet and ankles keep swelling up! Grrr!

mrsv as tempted as I am, I think in this case the words "ignorance is bliss" when it comes to birthing videos! Shock

Toothfairy78 · 23/10/2013 21:07

Damn, got so far through the video and bottled it!

Think I'll wait til NCT classes start.

Yes, I'm wuss.

MrsV thanks for the links, apprehensive about watching them but need to know what its really like-OBEM always seems quite tame

Frizz1986 · 23/10/2013 23:57

So really good second nct class but one of the women has already popped!
Had a little girl last week at 35.5 weeks and she is adorable.
They brought her in to see people and also to share their story.
Her midwife and her think she went early because of work stress so ladies its time to start telling bosses where to go for our own and our babies health!!

She told us to start getting that hospital bag ready as you never know when you'll need it. Her dh was in 24hr Asda at 6am trying to work out what to buy.
She also said to get all the baby stuff out of the boxes like prams and seats etc and figure out how they work so you know what buttons to push.
I have made a start on my bag list now and have purchased some breast pads and nipple cream from amazon.
Will be going to tesco (maybe tomorrow) to get some maternity pads and disposable pants as she has slightly scared me into getting back to my normally prepared self and getting this s&@t done!
By next week i am determined that most of the bag will be ready to go just in case.

Will catch up with all the posts tomorrow as really need sleep.

MrsAVB · 24/10/2013 08:47

Morning all!
Well, my boobs have started leaking if I squeeze them!
humpty am in admiration of your no nonsense stance with cockwomble boss! I think you should deliver training as part of the new pressure group Smile.
blue glad you're ok after your fall! scary stuff.
I went into mothercare yesterday (they have 20% off all bedding and some other stuff, plus a third off some breast pumps), someone had obviously been moving stuff around as under the aisle sign which said "dinner time" were all the maternity pads and disposable knickers. Not my idea of a tasty meal...

Bluecarrot · 24/10/2013 09:12

See frizz I knew its never too early to start preparing your hospital bag! I did a mini panic yesterday when heading to hospital ( had cramps which were shock induced or BH but thought I might be in early labour) because I hadn't gotten round to pointing out the last minute things to DP. Getting those sorted today.

I've even typed up instructions for DP on how to use washing machine and tumble drier during my hospital stay and the first week or so at home.

And I've already done a months meal plan for around the due date so freezer will be stocked of healthy comfort foods. And ice cream.

Ill look into the cot bed mattresses in mothercare while that offers on. Haven't put much thought into nursery yet as its still not plastered.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/10/2013 12:07

sultana sounds like a fab way to spend your anniversary. I hope not to spend mine in labour (due 3rd Jan, anniversary 7th Jan...) Grin

alice Hmm that's an awful assumption! People are so rude!

frizz I am no where NEAR ready - we have barely started unpacking! Not ordered a pram or cot yet, let alone taken them out of boxes Grin. So, you are already more organised than I, which means you can sit down and have Cake.

Cockwomble boss has said NOTHING about me (sort of) going behind his back. I think he is conceding this round.
MrsA I do love teaching (part of my current job), so I will happily accept a training post in the new group Grin.

toby hope your curry didn't prompt heartburn. I feel a million % better after all the veg in mine - we've been trying to use up fridge stuff, so not eating that well for a couple of days.

Day off tomorrow, to do loads of unpacking - I cannot wait to start getting things sorted in our new house!

Sultanajo · 24/10/2013 12:26

Don't blame you wussing out Tooth. You got a step further than me! Proper wuss here!

Frizz OMG - can't believe one of your NCT's has popped already! Ekkk! Feeling suddenly a bit panicky about the stage we have stalled at in our my organisation! DH did put the crib together at the weekend while I was away and discovered it was damaged! Frickin typical! So that means we will be getting everything else out of their boxes and putting them together at the weekend to check there is no further damage, before taking the crib back!

Curly what have they said about your glucose in your urine? Are they just gonna monitor you?

mrsA I am too scared to give mine a squeeze in case they leak! Am a bit nervous about that at this stage for some reason.... Blush

Blue OMG! Can you come over and organise me please? Am leaving it until I am off work in 3 weeks, BUT am now thinking I shouldn't just in case.... ekkkk!

Yay Humpty. You will feel so much better once you have started unpacking and getting things organised! Really hope you don't end up in labour on your anniversary too! That would suck!

Well at NCT this week we talked about post natal depression and also touched on SIDS.

SIDS scares the absolutely shite out of me and I haven't bought a monitor with a movement sensor, but beginning to think perhaps I should have done as I KNOW I am gonna be super-paranoid when bubs arrives! Not sure if it will help me relax or make my paranoia worse....

Also, the NCT teacher mentioned "third hand smoke" risks from people holding the baby after smoking relating to SIDS. She said they still breathe out toxins for 30 mins after having a ciggie, which has freaked me out as my MIL smokes like a chimney and as she lives abroad, when she comes over she is gonna want TONS of cuddles with bubs for the whole time she is here. I was really glad DH was at the session actually as it really surprised him and made him think. It could be a VERY awkward conversation if we decide to tell MIL she can't hold bubs for 30 mins after a ciggie and must wash her hands etc. I need to ask her next week for more information on this....

Is this me being OVER-CAUTIOUS to even be thinking about this do you think? Has anyone else heard of this?

Solasum · 24/10/2013 12:50

Amazon has a 50% off offer on some of its Maxi Cosi carseats at the moment, in case anyone has yet to buy...

Frizz1986 · 24/10/2013 12:57

sultana I have to say I havent read up too much on SIDS as I think it will terrify me.
I think that if you have been given some info on smoke and SIDS then you should def use it how you see fit.
I wouldnt hesitate to tell anyone to wash their hands, use sanitisors, not hold bubs after smoking etc if I felt I needed to. After all its our babies so its our choice.
Thankfully no one close in my family smoke so I won't need to worry about that side of it.
Am sure we will look at SIDS at some point and I will be highly irrational about the whole thing.
I won't be getting a sensor as I will become overly paranoid about it. I am planning on just doing all the right things to try to prevent it and hope that I am not one statistics.

humpty you have house stuff going on though so you have an excuse. I have just been sat on my backside but will def have some Cake after making a start on the packing of the bag of which I don't have a bag yet so it will be a tesco carrier lol.

Sorry about the fall blue glad all was fine. All these things that used to be really normal and not scary are terrifying.

So went for my UTI test today and got them to swab my bits to check for infection lol.
Had a young male doctor who I think I might have terrified. I don't think he was expecting to have to investigate some pregnant lady's bits today!
He told me what he would be doing and explained he wouldnt be going anywhere near the cervix or baby (I am sat there thinking I've had a few of these investigations before so I know whats coming anyway)
So he asked if I was ok him doing it or if I wanted someone else and my response was...."in about 11 weeks time I am going to be pushing a baby out of it with god knows how many people looking so I may as well get used to people seeing it" He did a nervous giggle.
I like that I am getting myself prepared to not be embarrased though.

Oh and sultana the NCT lady who had her baby, I think she should have been in the previous class as her due date is mid/late Nov but I think maybe there wasn't space and she chose to join the Dec/Jan group instead.

TobyLerone · 24/10/2013 13:04

Sultana, I think it's understandable that you're worried. My mum smokes and it worries me a bit but I probably won't say anything tbh.

As for monitors with sensors, we had one with DS. It was great until he managed to wriggle out of contact with it and the alarm went off and gave us a heart attack!

Shock Frizz. A baby already! It's getting scarily close, huh?

Humpty, I am basically a heartburn-free zone since my Dr put me back on omeprazole. It's amazing! Glad your curry was good :)

I'm not packing my bag yet. I have all my toiletries ready and in a washbag, but that's all. I've got a scan at the beginning of December and I'll pack after that.

My boobs are leaking on the regular now, which is nice Hmm

Sultanajo · 24/10/2013 13:08

Thanks Frizz. I have been back and forth on the sensor mat, from definitely going to get one, then deciding not to and buying a "normal" monitor, to suddenly feeling the need to get one again! Arghhhh! I am trying to be like you and just being sensible, but it's soooo HARD!!!!

Well done you with the young male doc and your bits! I had something similar at the STI clinic once (just routine testing) and he asked me tons of questions about the type of sex I routinely had, including anal! He was really fit so I felt really embarrassed telling him my sexual history, but by the time I had stripped off and he had well and truly examined me I was feeling much more confident! As you say, in a few weeks we will have god knows who looking down there, so may as well get used to it! Grin

How long do you wait for your results?

TobyLerone · 24/10/2013 13:11

:o Frizz. I had to have a smear at my 6 week check. The dr I saw was a right fitty (locum) and asked if I'd prefer someone else to do the smear. I said "I've just had a baby. Everyone's seen it!"

Our first wedding anniversary is on 12th Jan and the baby is due on 5th. I can't imagine we'll do anything too wild!

Sultanajo · 24/10/2013 13:12

Toby if it was my Mum I wouldn't have an issue saying something to her and explaining things, but there is a slight language barrier with MIL as it is and because she lives abroad I don't actually know her that well.... Will just get more info and then make a decision with DH I think. Typical - had to be MIL who smokes!

Great you are heartburn free now! Mine is still pissing me off at night and waking me up and the reflux is getting worse, but am just thinking it's now only 9 weeks to go, so Rennie's will just have to carry me through....

Naturegirl82 · 24/10/2013 13:29

Just back from 28 week rescan and didn't go as well as I had been hoping. Cyst on kidney has doubled in size and now babies bladder is measuring 2-3 times bigger than it should so I think they are worried about a partial blockage. Fluid around baby was good though so something is working. Been referred to the hospital for an appointment with a consultant and possibly another scan next week. Feel a bit sad about it all and had a little cry after the appointment Sad

TobyLerone · 24/10/2013 13:51

Oh, nature, I'm sorry you're sad :(

Any idea what that means or do you have to wait until you see the consultant?

Sultanajo · 24/10/2013 13:56

Oh nature. So sorry the results weren't what you had hoped. Am not surprised you had a little cry and feel upset. As Toby said, have they given you any indication of what they may do?

Naturegirl82 · 24/10/2013 13:59

Need to wait until I see the consultant on Monday. Just a waiting game at the moment. Sad

MrsVDB · 24/10/2013 14:09

blue that must of been scary thank goodness your ok

nature sorry to hear that and fingers are crossed for you. When you told us before I had a bit of a google and think the consensus was that its all fixable so hope it'll all be fine

I haven't had very bad heartburn at all but woke up last night with a mouthful of stomach acid/ sick. Dh was lucky he didn't get it all over his back as I was being big spoon. Is this heartburn related or could baby of just kicked my stomach and made it come up?

Sultanajo · 24/10/2013 14:30

Ughhh nature. Hate it when it's a waiting game. Poor you. Will keep everything crossed for you that these next few days go quickly for you.... HTH

Mrsv that has happened to me pretty much every night this week, sometimes a couple of times. Doesn't seem to matter how early/late I eat at night, it still happens. Not sure if it's heartburn related or just stomach getting squished by bubs, but either way it's minging!

TobyLerone · 24/10/2013 14:55

That was happening to me too,MrsV. It's horrible and I sympathise.

MrsVDB · 24/10/2013 16:11

Yep I managed to swallow it (2 gulps ha ha) but then had to run to loo. At least I know it's not unusual which helps a bit

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/10/2013 16:48

nature oh love, that's hard - hope next week's scan is better news. I worry ALL THE TIME about bean, I think it's preparation for the next 50 years... I really hope all is well.

MrsV sorry to make light of acid grimness, but I snorted at 'being big spoon', so cute Grin

sultana my DH smokes. He's tried to quit three times so far this pregnancy. No joy (he is a bit of a wuss about it, telling me he has 'chills' and 'anxiety' when he does), and I am v unsympathetic as I gave up the day I had a +ve test result, not found it v hard at all Grin.
I hope the NCT teacher tells us the same thing, and it will shock him into quitting. If I tell him, he'll put it down to nagging.

toby yay for the good drugs! Eat ALL THE CHILLI.
