bluecarrot I am meant to be doing pilates (not sure how similar that is).. well i have the ball, the mat and a book - all I need now is the initiative to do it!!
I have severe cramps at night, i wake up screaming in agony and the last one or two I've tried doing something like "breathing" through it, sort accepting the pain rather than pushing against it. I need more practise though. Jabs are not nice! Which has reminded me I have the whooping cough one tomorrow! :( My flu jab went into my arm twice because I flinched causing it to move :S But you're definitely right about the fear aspect and if we can't calm ourself during a jab who knows what it'll be like for birth!

Toothfairy78 · 22/10/2013 19:37

OMG how busy have we all been?

Looks like we're all nearing mat leave and our moron bosses are still don't get it. I got word today our director wants to approach something in a totally dumbass stupid manner. My method involves generating a mere 200 documents. His approach involves 3000 documents through an already overloaded department with me going on mat leave. What a spanner! We worked out it would take 1 person full time, non-stop at least a year to do it his way. Let's unite against cockwomble, eejit bosses!

mythree hope your little one feels better soon!

tree welcome on board and congratulations!

Hi! To Space.

HUGS to those who need them!

Solidarity, encouragement and loans of pitchforks to everyone else!

alice it sounds like your all geared up for uni ! go for it !

mythree ive heard antibiotics take 48 hours to kick in? Infact I think my doctor told me that but please don't quote me. I hope he starts to get better soon.

oh mrsavb it was be with the dodgy lying baby. I'm not sure when we should start to worry but midwife mentioned scanning me at 34 weeks if still not in the right position. I know we still have plenty of time for them to move but seriously I already feel like my baby doesn't have enough room in there.
I also went on the spinning babies website and did a position for 30 seconds that is supposed to help baby move head down. So it may be worth checking out the website for a position you can do? worth a try :)
I know there was someone else with a transverse lying baby? sorry baby brain has taken over.

OK so DH has put his leave in today for January after a brief discussion and us going backwards and forwards on when to put annual leave in for.
I originally thought a week before due date would be good but seeing as i've never gone into natural labour we have decided to take a risk and he's booked in leave for the day before my due date for 3 weeks.
I was worried that if he took leave the week before I was due then if I went 2 weeks overdue he would have to shoot straight back to work as soon as the babies born.
But, now i'm already shitting myself because he works on the oil rigs in the North Sea in Scotland and there is no way in hell that he will get off the rig if I go into labour before my due date. But, at my 12 week scan they brought my due date forward to the 13th and based on lmp it was the 19th so i'm thinking i'll be ok? Oh shit i'm just trying to convince myself now haha.
mother will be on speed dial!!

Frizz1986 · 22/10/2013 20:03

humpty boss is sounding like an arse!

Sorry for all horrible numpty bosses but yay that not long left until mat leave!

Yay bunt for good levels.

tarka hope the scan goes well. At least u get to see the little bundle again Smile

mythree this trip is sounding like a lot of hassle. I dont think i could deal with a bed share with someone else. Dh has to deal with it as he upduffed me lol.

So dh has signed up with another agency to try and get supply work as he hasnt had luck with that either.

And work has been rather crappy. We lost a big customer that someone on my team deals with and it turns out that as she is named as their person in the contract, when they move to another company (30 miles away) her job goes with it along with her! Its some policy to protect the employees from losing their jobs or something (which none of us knew about so its all a bit of a shock). She can refuse the relocation but it would mean resigning from that role and reapplying for a new role where we work now (thats if our place has something) To top it off we only got a new temp in a month ago as someone left and she is really nice but only contracted until end of the year (depending on if they still need my mat cover etc) so if this girl decides she wants to stay and not relocate, the temp would prob lose her job in jan and thats an awful decision to be on your shoulders especially as the temp has 2 kids, has really fitted in with the team and got made redundant from her last job so was out of work for a few months before starting with us.
Anyway i think i feel bad as it used to be my role (although it hasn't been my role for over 3 years and we have had 3 different people in the role since i stopped doing it)

Well i am off to York on sat for the night and am v excited!

Percypiglet · 22/10/2013 21:29

Hope your son is okay Mythree. Look after yourself too.

Space nice to see you on here, I was thinking about you at various points today and wondering how you were. Please keep in touch. x

Nearly mid week everyone, hurrah!

I am count down with work days too. My colleague came in to work today, she is 37 weeks pregnant - she looked massive so now I am a bit scared about the amount of growing this baby is going to do in the next couple of months.

Hello and welcome to newbies.

Mythreeknights · 23/10/2013 10:43

Ha. Get this. The fuckers at Virgin 'little red' have cancelled my flight. I am not being paranoid...greater powers are contriving to completely stuff up this work trip. Next flight still gets me in just in time (sort of) but now I miss seeing my sil who is only in London 48 hrs and flies back to the middle east tomorrow. Raaaaaaaaah give me strength.

TobyLerone · 23/10/2013 10:56

Omg, mythree! It really does seem like someone doesn't want you to go! How is DS today?

Mythreeknights · 23/10/2013 11:05

Without wanting to count my poulets, he woke once in the night with a 'reasonable' fever of 38.4, went straight back to sleep and woke at eight with temp back down to 37.5 and wanting dome cereal!!! This is the first non fruit food he will have eaten since Sunday. I just called DH and he said DS1 is playing happily in the playroom. Think we are through the worst.
Now, if only Virgin could pull their finger out...still sitting at check in. Fuckers.

extracrunchy · 23/10/2013 11:09

Brilliant news re DS and fever down/eating, Mythree!
Stupid Virgin though...

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 23/10/2013 12:04

mythree glad your DS is improving, sorry to hear about the fucking flights. How crappy.

cockwomble bosses I agree we need a support group to help us defeat them!

Society for the Demolition Of Fuckwit Fucktard Bosses, p'raps?

Mythreeknights · 23/10/2013 12:41

...and new flight is delayed...

MrsVDB · 23/10/2013 12:44

Oh dear mythree sounds like your having a crappy day, but it's good ds is feeling a bit better

As I'm wfh today I've just watched a birth video of YouTube. Not sure what I expected but I didn't expect your insides to come out like this or head to be there for so long or bum hole to be stretched like this

It's pretty graphic but if anyone is curios like me take a look

birth video

Frizz1986 · 23/10/2013 12:57

Oh crap mythree that sounds totally sucky about the flights. The world is clearly doing something as this is more than bad luck!
Hope you get on your way soon.

mrsv i am really tempted to watch as want to be as prepared as possible but best wait til I am home (not really a good thing to watch at work!)

NCT tonight as well so I expect i'll forget to watch it anyway!

Mythreeknights · 23/10/2013 13:06

MrsVDB I'm intrigued but not sure the people around me in the airport cafe would appreciate the footage!

When we were expecting DS1 we hired a doula (wasn't brilliant, must admit - she obstructed intervention at every stage until I was in theatre anyhow, and then she left before the birth...Hmm) anyhow, she lent us a DVD of women having orgasms in labour...as if this was a realistic option..."yep, a baby girl and a multiple orgasms for me please midwife!" anyhow, it was HILARIOUS and these women were genuinely giving birth, and genuinely enjoying it in a very sexual, baby is really hitting the right spot, kind of way. Wierd. (just jealous as it never happened to me...)

MrsVDB · 23/10/2013 13:37

mythree there was also a video about that on YouTube! I'm not sure I'd like my birth to be sexual even if it does make it more painful, just seems strange to me

MrsVDB · 23/10/2013 13:53

As I'm on a roll posting graphic videos here is one showing use of forceps and is actually a lot less traumatic than I thought. Might be worth a watch

forceps birth

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 23/10/2013 15:41

MrsV I'm gonna watch them tonight - don't dare open them at work!

mythree yeah. I imagine birth is EXACTLY when you are planning to get your rocks off Hmm.

Just found out that boss blocked my report to the Board (I had to leave it with him, as wasn't in that day). I am now going to email it to each of them directly, with a VERY SWEET cover note apologising for not being able to present it in person, and hoping it might help with the 'challenges' of the next 12 months (my mat leave).
He's a cockwomble wankmeister, and I WILL WIN. Also, he's not here today, so if he says anything I shall open my eyes VERY WIDE and say 'but since you weren't in, I had to make a decision'.

How's everyone else's day? Grin

TarkaTheOtter · 23/10/2013 16:27

mrsv you are very brave! I'll watch "one born" but no I'm totally in denial about the details. I had a 2nd degree tear last time and never even looked at the stitches afterwards until I was SURE things were back to normalish.

Humpty your boss sounds like a massive twat! Do you think he might be a bit threatened by you?

I've had my 28 week growth scan today (because of gd), consultant appt and bloods. All good so feeling very pleased. Was sure this was the scan where they were going to reveal a mega baby. DH away tonight so planning what trash to watch once dd in bed. I think I'll start with "the face".

Bluecarrot · 23/10/2013 17:23

Well, after nearly fainting and falling up the stairs and landing directly on bump I've spent the day at hospital. Got the chance to try out the breathing through the jab thing. Didn't even notice she had done it, even though the liquid normally really stings!

So glad that I don't work ATM ( though extra money would be nice!) though last time my employers were great.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 23/10/2013 17:50

blue! Are you okay, you poor thing? Ouch. Please take it very very easy. Oooh, I got all worried there reading that.

tarka my boss would be threatened by a paper bag Grin. Have sent report around the Board, and chair has come back to me with 'Very many thanks - excellent', so ya boo sucks.
Glad your growth scan is going well, hurrah for no mega baby! Sounds like you are managing your GD really well - I'm impressed!

Off home soon for thai vegetable curry - my personal chef DH phoned earlier to suggest this as dinner. Yum yum.

TobyLerone · 23/10/2013 18:03

Shock Blue! You poor thing! I fell right over when I was about 20-ish weeks pg with DS. I was playing rounders Hmm

Boo to wanker bosses Angry

Hope you managed to get there in the end, mythree!

Glad your scan went ok, Tarka :)

We're having curry tonight, too, Humpty. Chicken tikka masala and sag aloo. I should probably go and finish it off, actually...

Sultanajo · 23/10/2013 18:52

Hey space! Lovely to see u!

mythree Omg! So great to hear your little man is finally on the mend and best of luck for your work trip. Confused Wine

blue take it easy! Hope you are ok!

humpty & everyone else with cockwomble bosses, I feel your frustrations! Grrrr! 3 weeks and counting!!! Finally started training my replacements the last couple of days. They are both lovely and are very much on the same page as me which really helps. They will need a lot of suuport until I go off and I have a ton of loose ends to tie up! My boss hasnt been in touch for ages....beginning to wonder if he will get in touch before I go off if I dont contact him. However, I do need to make contact tomorrow to tackle some issues....Hmm

Cant believe we only have three NCT sessions left! Time is flying by!!! Suddenly feeling quite disorganised! Confused

Cant remember who said they keep getting a sore throat... I was convinced I was gonna wake up with a streaming cold yesterday after a sore throat suddenly came on monday night, but it has gone again. It needs to stay away from both DH and me as its our wedding anniversary on monday and we are having a spa day at the hotel we got married at last year! Cant wait!!! Grin

Bluecarrot · 23/10/2013 19:10

Baby and I are both fine :) though the little monkey, despite being head down for ages, has decided since my scan on Monday to turn around. Will be putting my own advice re turning her back again!

Sultana - sounds like a fab way to spend your anniversary! Enjoy it x

alice93 · 23/10/2013 19:24

blue good to hear you're okay - be careful! i fainted earlier on in pregnancy in a cafe Blush - a lady came up to my dp whilst i was still out and said "is she on drugs? don't worry you can tell us - we won't tell the police!" Hmm
But I survived my jab fine today Grin I hardly felt it Smile I just refused to look at the needle once. Smile

All this talk about frustrating bosses makes me glad I'm still at uni - and my lecturer who I've never talked to, but dp is doing the module too won a bet against him (that the US wouldn't shut down), so he won some cake, and my lecturer gave him extra to send home to me Grin - sorry to gloat!
