Happy Birthday, stom! Thanks Cake Hope you have a fab day and get spoilt rotten!

Whisper, everyone's advice so far has been brilliant. Not sure what else to add to it other than to try going down some of those routes... Just remember that we're always here if ever you need someone to talk to, no matter what it's about! Sending you big hugs from me and bump Smile

frouby, so sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Having a bug is bad enough as it is, let alone when you're pregnant. I found out the other day that if I have to spend too long on the loo then I end up with the most unbearable leg cramps... How is that fair?! Hmm Anyway, hope you feel better in time to enjoy your birthday on Tuesday!

kitty, carpal tunnel isn't something I know much about so I'm afraid I don't really know what to suggest Sad Is it worth calling NHS direct or going straight to A&E to try and get something sorted, even if it's only a temporary solution?

I think little man's been going through a bit of a growth spurt lately. Been feeling really out of sorts and didn't fancy going to bed until about 2am last night.
Feeling so much better for a slight shift in sleeping pattern though and baby now looks and feels a lot heavier!

Off to pick up a lovely white second-hand cot and brand new mattress today Smile
Since we haven't got much space in the flat we were going to wait until little man outgrew his moses basket, but I saw this cot on one of those local Facebook buying and selling groups for £30 and just had to have it! The woman selling it has even said she'll throw in a few packs of nappies for free, haha!

Chelsealady · 19/10/2013 12:31

Not sure if this is strange me asking this but if i do give birth before xmas do i buy my daughter presents....confused??

ringaringarosy · 19/10/2013 12:49

Its up to you chelsea,if you want to!

Stom91 · 19/10/2013 12:55

Thanks for the birthday wishes :) dp just cooked med scrambled eggs on toast! And the brother in law brought me a reflexology session! Looking forward to that!

chelsea I won't be buying dd anything.. She's had enough this year! My parents and brother have bought a cuddle toy and outfit tool wrap up for up for her... She'll be too young to know what day it is let alone that it's Christmas lol x

clare8allthepies · 19/10/2013 14:13

Happy birthday Stom

We only bought DD a couple of tiny bits for her first Christmas as she didn't really have a clue about it and she was 7 and a half months then, she did have lots of fun playing with the wrapping paper though! Grin

DP has taken DD to his parents and though it hasn't definitely been decided they're probably going to stay overnight. Had a snooze as DD had me up at 6, going to try to get a supermarket shop done then will come back and try to sort out this shit tip of a flat, have been putting SO many things off until I started mat leave, I've got no excuses left now!

MrsShrubs · 19/10/2013 15:17

Happy birthday stom hope everyone's having a good Saturday

itsliz · 19/10/2013 15:37

Just collected our cot and it's perfect Smile Lovely lady also gave me some nappies, nappy bags, a baby scrapbook, a load of white babygrows, a sleeping bag, some baby lotion and Johnson's Baby soaps and some maternity tops... All for free!

Can't believe how kind and generous some people can be! I'm currently feeling rather overwhelmed and even more excited for December to hurry up after meeting her little 3 month old Grin

MollySJ · 19/10/2013 16:24

Wow itsliz what a nice bonus! Having a great relaxing day here after an awful two days at school. Came home last night (after 2.5hr traffic hell) with sore shoulder, stitch-like pain in side and SPD hip pain and just wanted to hibernate!
Scared myself by googling what the pains could be (when will I learn?!)
Glad to say good nights sleep along with a lazy day have rationalised it and I'm much perkier :)

WhisperMen · 19/10/2013 17:20

Exciting news guys....I HAD A NAP! 3 hours of sleep! I am so happy I could cry. this probably means that I won't sleep again tonight, but for now I am happy.

ooh that's so lovely itsliz some people can be so nice.

I don't think we're getting baby anything for christmas even if it is born beforehand. It's too tiny to know what is going on so we might as well save our money. All it will want is milk cuddles and sleep anyway Grin

MrsShrubs · 19/10/2013 17:40

itsliz that's fantastic!!! So generous of her.

So glad you got a nap whisper how are you feeling now?

I've just packed a basic hospital bag for me & baby, just need to put clothes in and maternity bras at some point and it should be all done. Felt really strange packing nappies and things, even bought some ready made straight from birth formula just in case for some reason I can't physically breast feed as our NHS won't provide it for you.

WhisperMen · 19/10/2013 18:03

I'm feeling quite groggy actually mrs headachey and actually feel worse for having slept. Typical.

I still haven't even thought about the hospital bag. DP won't let me do it because apparently he has to do it according to the book he read Hmm. This means it won't get done until about 5 minutes before we go to the hospital in labour more than likely.

I am really craving cheesy pizza and skittles. I can't have either though as we have spent our food budget for the month. Bloody bills all coming at the same time this month meaning we have absolutely no spare cash.

PinkWitch803 · 19/10/2013 18:29

Whisper - a shower, some paracetemol and a mug of hot chocolate while watching a feel good film will make the groginess dissapear.

I have packed my bags, but will ask dp to unpack and repack soon so he knows where everything is. But I know we have everything we need!

Happy birthday stom

I have spent all afternoon emptying our bedroom ready for redecorating. Really succesful but have been ignoring a back pain I have had all day and really want a bath, byt have to go to a birthday party tonight. I don't want to miss it because I need to see people and I am not sure how much longer I am going to fit behind the steering wheel, but it means I can leave DP there and treat myself for socialising by having a nice soak before bed. And hope that DP doesn't come rolling home too late! Or too drunkard! He hasn't had a blow out in a while, so he has a pass out and the bar is quite cheap :0

I am sure it will all be fine, but I have told him to stay downstairs if he is too wobbly! I need my beauty sleep

MildredH · 19/10/2013 20:23

Happy birthday Stom.. Hope the rest of your day has been lovely!

Feather- I'm with you on the terrible night front. Had a rich dinner in the pub last night with a weak white wine spritzer which then just repeated on me terribly. Couldn't get comfy at all so came down and dozed on and off on the sofa til 5am when I went back to bed. Urgh.

Had our first nct class today which although i struggled to keep awake through was good. Group seem really nice too- definitely the kind of people id make friends with.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'm now cosied up in pjs watching strictly having dropped DH out to meet our friends. First time I've bailed out with the pregnancy card but I know I'd have been awful company!

BohemianRaspberry · 19/10/2013 20:40

feather and Mildred I went down the posh restaurant route and the rich food gave me indigestion (I regret nothing! It was yum) - upshot being that the entire afternoon has been for just napping and sleeping

Mildred - my nct class barely says anything in sessions - really wish they were more lively

pink Leave a pillow on the sofa as a message!

Nearly finished packing the maternity bag (mini rolly case) and DH had very proudly packed his too. All three lined up in the nursery Smile

Alyssa1978 · 19/10/2013 20:42

That was really nice of her its

I have 2 hospital bags, one for me and one for baby as I found it much easier than diving around in one bag for babies stuff.

Hope you're feeling better soon whisper I'm with you on the cash front. Ds1 is fast outgrowing his jeans too so we need to buy a whole new bottom half wardrobe and I'm starting to panic about going on maternity leave now as my wage is pathetic and we still have rent etc to pay for.

Happy birthday stom hope you enjoyed it.

chelsea ds1 was only 4 weeks old on his first xmas and I went so over board it was rediculous, I wrapped everything too only to open them again myself Confused
We have 2 stockings for ds1 and 2 with their names embroidered on, so we are going to go get bump one of those and just fill it with rattles and tethers, just to say he has something.

frouby hope you're feeling better soon Hun.

kitty I had my carpal tunnel when not pregnant so I had to have the operation for it as it wouldn't have gone away, but ibuprofen which you can't take when pregnant was the only relief for me other than the wrist splint. I went to a and e the very first time I had the pain as I'd fallen and thought I'd broken it at first and they gave me the splint there. It was a proper one with the metal so you couldn't bend your wrist so maybe try your a and e and I really sympathise hunny as its really painful Flowers

Ouch!!! This annoying part under my right boob is getting more painful and numb very weird combination its a sharp pain but if I get dp to rub it, it's completely numb, had it with all 3 pregnancies now this one and the second one being the worst I could cry knowing it won't go until after I've given birth Sad

Featherbag · 19/10/2013 20:50

The bf class was a bit odd, it went on for 2 hours and the first hour was spent extolling the virtues of bf, which struck me as a bit odd as why would we be there if we didn't think it was a good idea already?! Quite a lot of time was spent talking about delivery and first feed, which made me feel very sad about DS's birth, it brought back to me the terror of going from being happily 32 weeks to 3 hours later seeing my blue baby resuscitated and taken away, before I was dumped in a room and given a breast pump in a box (I didn't even know such a thing existed) and told not to press the buzzer unless it was an emergency. I wasn't prepared for those feelings and experiences to come back, but better now than when DS2 arrives I suppose! I didn't feel I got much from the class, but there was a 6-week old boy there with his peer-supporter mum, he was just beautiful, and oh my god his tiny little toes!!,

Random change of direction, but I'd listed some newborn size sleepsuits and vests on eBay which haven't sold, some blue/with cars on, others white or unisex pattern. Does anyone want them? I don't want anything for them, buy I have to go to the post office over the road on Monday anyway and it would save me a trip into town to the nearest charity shop! They're not brand new, but have had minimal wear and are in good condition.

Gannetgob · 19/10/2013 21:41

Hi all,

Haven't been on here for a while (again!) I'm rubbish at keeping up with you all.

I'm sorry some of aren't feeling great and that lots of you have aches and pains. I have had a funny pain today. It's above my belly button and it huuuurts. I'm not too worried about it - baby is moving as normal and I think I'm just stretching more. My belly button is starting to pop too. It's half in and half out at the moment - gross!

I'm so jealous of the people that have finished work already. I only have a week left but it still seems like it is so far away! I really admire those who are going right up to their due dates!

I'm a bit sad about leaving, I've been at the school for just over a year and have made some great friends I'll really miss over the next few months. Although there was lots of talk about us going out as a little leaving thing for me and I mentioned it the other day to a couple of people and it was kind of brushed aside and nobody would commit to a day which bothered me a bit. :(

Glad people seem to be enjoying various classes they are going to. I have had 2 of my NCT ones now and I am finding them really useful.

I'm stressing about finding a nightie for hospital. I don't know why, but it is really playing on my mind! So silly! Will have to plan a trip to primark when I get paid!

Anyway, have a relaxing Sunday all!

MildredH · 19/10/2013 22:13

Sorry to hear that bohemian- I think it's completely pot luck isn't it. There are 7 couples at ours- I'd convinced myself there'd be noone I'd want to be friends with so I'm happy there's at least a few.. ( mind you there are also a few I think I prob wouldn't rush to see again but I can be a bit quick to judge!).

How many sessions in are you? Maybe people will come out of their shells?

BohemianRaspberry · 19/10/2013 23:31

It's our last session this coming week, hoping to exchange some numbers. I tried bringing cakes and cookies and that had more chat. Hoping to leave with at least a couple of friends, at least.

Hi gannet it's been primani for me too :)

kitty213 · 19/10/2013 23:35

aw thank you so much ladies lovely comments and tips, i totally forgot about the carpal tunnel today as my pelvic girdle pain was soooo bad, im going to end up on crutches i just know it! so thats splints for my hand and crutches plus a big pregnant belly, and i thought id try and stay as glam as possible! lol fat chance, ahhh never mind my little girl will be worth it, i just cant believe it. I went to visit my nan and she was giving me tips on how to get around, she gave me a swivel cushion for my car and said go up and down the stairs on all 4's! There is a good 60 years between us lol, got to laugh or ill cry, again!
Thanks for all the lovely support
I wish i could keep up with this board lol, its nice to have a read through and i hope your all enjoying your pregnancies x

qumquat · 20/10/2013 00:37

Hi Feather I'd love the baby clothes if they're still available!

Whisper I am in a similar situation, barely sleeping and depression rearing its ugly head. I slept a couple of hours this afternoon and felt human again for the first time in weeks. Hope you sleep ok tonight. I've found self hypnosis apps on my phone helpful sometimes; I'd kill for a good old Nytol though!

LadyMedea · 20/10/2013 01:28

For those struggling with sleep... nytol (Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride) is FDA category B for pregnancy - which means it's generally considered safe to use and is in the same category as paracetamol. Although of course as always you aren't meant to take anything you don't have too and you must stick to the dose...but sleep is pretty important! But if insomnia is driving you mad it's worth a try.

Whyyyyyyy do kids know when you're off work.
One day off and I have been tossing and turning since midnight with this pain at the top of my stomach, had no sleep and ds1 decided to get up at 5am and has been twisty for the last 2 hours as he's still tired.
Dp just finished night shift and came in and went straight to bed which he's entitled to, he's been to work all night but I could cry I'm so tired!

WhisperMen · 20/10/2013 07:42

hiya
no sleep again and a migraine that made me throw up several times in the night. brilliant night Grin
fed up of feeling rotten now Sad

MrsShrubs · 20/10/2013 08:48

Went out with DH and some of his footy lads and their gfs for a curry last night, had a great night and Indians my favourite food. DH had a few beers which is fine. Went home and went to sleep, about 2 hours later I woke up and knew I was going to be sick so ran for it and was awful, DH got up went and got me water, rubbed my back was so lovely and tucked me back up into bed. Woke up this morning and he doesn't remember any of it lol he thought I was winding him up! Must have had more to drink then I thought he did bless him!

Hope you feel better soon whisper sending you hugs!
