Stom91 · 05/10/2013 11:00

nom my Mw gave me my GD results over the phone
Hah he won't watch it. All hospital sticks makes. Him feel. Ill.... We watched a scene last night where this guy was having an op.. All you could see wag the drs being passed the instruments but he was like i can't watch it. Is it over yet.... Woose!! Lol.

Im hypermobile - so I'm at risk of rapid birth and more prone to bad tearing. I'm seeing a consultant next week to find out more about how hypermobility affects birth

froubylou · 05/10/2013 11:18

Morning all.

Had a horrible phone call this morning. My dsis is 19 wks pg and was rushed to hospital last night with stomach pain. They are 99% sure it is appendicitis and are taking her down to theatre shortly.

Obviously she is concerned for the baby and in a lot of pain. Only saw her yesterday and compared bumps.

Fingers crossed they are both out of the woods later on.

Featherbag · 05/10/2013 11:25

Oh Frouby, I know you'll be worried sick, I hope you get good news soon - she'll be getting well looked after, try not to sit and fret too badly xx

MildredH · 05/10/2013 12:21

Your poor dsis Frouby.. I know it'll seem worrying but as feather says they'll be looking after her well and keeping an eye on baby. At least it's something which will be quickly dealt with. Hopefully in a few days time she'll be recovering.

I've had a small victory this morning. Went to a midwife drop in session at the hosp re pelvic pain. She did me a physio referral straight away.

BohemianRaspberry · 05/10/2013 13:08

Poor DSis frouby hope everything's okay and congrats MildredH

In terms of birthing music (I so want the birthing centre at my hospital rather than the delivery suite!) I'm going down the rock music route - I'm really getting into "No Fear by The Rasmus as well as the more classic Metallica and Iron Maiden :D DH also suggested using the funny internet songs that I love to 'help laugh Junior out'

He has earned DP points this week with getting me a double decker bar when I was desperate for chocolate

MrsShrubs · 05/10/2013 13:28

Blimey this has moved so fast since yesterday morning!!

We were talking about the hospital bag prep last night, I think we might start putting some bits together like pjs, pads etc this week just in case.

froub hope she's okay Flowers

Welcome pockets Smile

So glad it's not just me who feels so warm at the moment, I'm boiling at night at the moment.

People who have had babies before - or those with knowledge- have you been using a special detergent for babies clothing or just your normal stuff? Keep reading mixed things and want to make a start on washing this gigantic wardrobe he's already gotten as my mum and the MIL have been buying things like mad women bless them!

NomDeClavier · 05/10/2013 13:40

mrs I use the same detergent I use for our cloth nappies, which isn't special baby detergent but is recommended for sensitive skin/babies. At the moment it's EcoSprout but I've also used Rockin Green and Violet's laundry powder, and the slightly more mainstream Ecover.

Stom91 · 05/10/2013 13:41

So after a massive breakdown in front of dp. Told him to stop being selfish and the name calling and talking to me like dirt.. And more crying and hugs and i do love you and sorrys...

I think dp has finally realised that he has been abit of a dick.. And he's now asked if I want to go away for my birthday -

But once I start crying I find it really hard to stop... Going to be blubbing all day now lol

He said he reckons that all us on MN plot against all the men! We don't tall about babies at all. Lol

NomDeClavier · 05/10/2013 13:43

Oops pressed post

I don't seem to be getting too hot at night but I spend half of it out of bed at the moment, falling asleep in DS's room, so I'm more likely to get cold!

frouby your poor Dsis. Let us know how she gets on. You must be so worried :(

Stom91 · 05/10/2013 13:51

frouby hope dsis is ok. Sending lots of love.

I'm not hot at all but then our flat is cold so probably keeps me cool.

Featherbag · 05/10/2013 16:05

Just a quick warning to other ladies with SPD - DO NOT go for a walk along the beach, especially if the sand is dry. I just did and now I'm in agony Confused

EmB1715 · 05/10/2013 16:31

Hope your sister is doing ok froub?

We went to an NCT nearly new sale today. Slightly stressful experience...DH made us late and then we had to queue for ages (cue me whinging everytime someone walked out with a bulging bag 'all the good stuff will be gone'!! Drama queen!). Got baby some lovely bits though

MrsShrubs · 05/10/2013 16:38

Thanks nom Smile

LadyMedea · 05/10/2013 16:47

On the physio front I rang up after 10 days of not hearing anything and they slotted me in to the next session this Wednesday.... Not sure if I would have heard anything yet if I hadn't chased. So worth giving them a ring I found the number of the hospitals website.

OP posts:
Xenadog · 05/10/2013 17:05

To all those ladies who are hot n bothered - snap! Normally I am freezing but i also had to tell DP off for putting the heating on this morning! I keep waking up in the morning with no quilt on me and the window wide open - at least we are saving money on the heating bills!

A friend told me earlier about a tip for snacks for the men (more to suit them Than us I think) for the labour bag and that's to freeze a sandwich or two - no Mayo though - and then just grab that on the way to the hospital. More nutritious and filling than packets of crisps and no need to stop at a shop or the expensive hospital cafe then. Anymore ideas for snacks to go in there?

PinkWitch803 · 05/10/2013 18:25

Frou, I hope things are ok with your Dsis.

Snacks I am thinking of include carton of juice, ginster pies, haribo, dried fruit, cake, biscuits, fresh fruit (grab 'n' go from the fruit bowl) squash, water bottles with sports lid, a couple of cans of cider for DP ;p, breakfast bars. I haven't started packing it yet, so still have some thinking about what and how much.

Is anyone else having paranoia about baby movements! It seems like I can't feel much movement, so I do the cold drink thing and feel enough to reassure me, then nothing again for ages. I keep thinking it is because I have an anterior placenta and the baby has moved to behind it so moevements feel different. Like I say, I am getting moevements but seem to be panicking between kicks.

PinkWitch803 · 05/10/2013 18:29

Since posting this a couple of minutes ago, Razzle has been doing the cancan! I can't seem to move away from the paranoia. I can't sit still for the rest of my pg! :(

Stom91 · 05/10/2013 18:49

pink I get that's sometimes... Yesterday all dd was beat me. Didnt stop all day then today she's been really quiet just small lil pops here and there and the odd kick.. Though she did have hiccups earlier which was funny.
Try not set worry I'm sure. Lil. One is fine and will have a busy day kicking you tomorrow :)

froubylou · 05/10/2013 19:02

Sister now minus an appendix and back on ward. Baby doing ok so far and op went well. Just hope everything stays the same for them.

Her dp is useless tho and not in a endearing way. Dsis has been working every hour god sends to pay bills and save up for baby. Her dp is off sick from work because of stress. But he isn't actually stressed. Just doesn't like his job and is waiting to be made redundant. And has been for about 8 months. Have told him today it's time to nan up and get his arse back in work. The sooner he goes back the sooner they will make him redundant and he can move on. He was on good money too. Triple what dsis gets and she will be off for at least 6 weeks so if he doesn't do something they are going to get in a mess.

And I don't mean to sound as though I don't think stress is a legitimate reason to be off sick. It's just in his case I know he is playing the system whilst she supports them all.

Pink I had exactly the same yesterday. Just think baby moved deeper back iykwim?

MrsShrubs · 05/10/2013 19:23

Well done on telling him to man up froub and glad all seems to be okay.

Just seen something I hadn't thought of for a hospital bag but a spare shirt & boxers for DP in case you're taken in in the middle of the night or labouring through the night so they also have something fresh to wear

PinkWitch803 · 05/10/2013 19:24

Frou, you sound like a good sis. Lets hope mister gets the message.

Thanks for your reassurance on the LO. I sure I will get feet and arms in ribs and pelvis soon and will be whingeing about pain.

Alyssa1978 · 05/10/2013 20:21

Hi everyone, can't believe I haven't posted on the new thread yet, just been busy with work etc.

nom thank you for the advice on the slings, I definately won't be buying a baby bjorn lol, what urge what we are doing yet.

stom sorry you were having a hard time with dp but glad you got it all out in the open with him and I hope you get your trip away

frouby Happy to hear dsis and baby are doing good, well done telling her dp to man up, sounds like he needs to.

mrs I have to admit I have never washed any of the new clothes I bought ds1 and 2 but now I use fairy non bio powder and comfort pure fabric conditioner and ds2 has very sensitive skin and they are fine for him.

everyone who is feeling the heat, I'm exactly the same and it doesn't help that my work has no air con.

My bags are all packed, mine and babies, I have in mine.....dressing gown and 2 nighties, about 5 pairs of knickers, maternity towels and breast pads, nipple cream, wash bag with deodrant shampoo etc in and towel, slippers, hair bobbles, clothes to come home in, breast feeding bras just need to put in snacks and pop for dp as I only drank a but if water in 25 hours lol

Babies bag has a towel, 7 body suits, 4 sleep suits, wipes and cotton wool as the first poos are a nightmare to get off baby and the only thing that works is cotton wool and warm water wipes didn't touch it, coming home outfit, blanket, hats, bibs, dummies, nappies, car seat and a coat.

No one got back in touch about my GTT test so it must have been fine.
Although the doctor keeps sending me smear letters Confused I'm a bit occupied in there at the moment lol Grin

Welcome all newbies and sorry if I missed anything, lots of posts since I was last on.

I'm having less kicks and more full on pushes, it feels like he's kicking my hip bones lol and under my right boob is so painful but numb to touch, I'll not miss that.

I have another growth scan Monday, so it'll be nice to see bump, again and see how much he weighs now Grin

mumoftwoboysS · 05/10/2013 20:39

Wow all of you talking about packing your bags are scaring me- I haven't even thought about it! Think I was 37 weeks or so when I did it last time! Tho I needn't have worried as we didn't need much anyway as we're only in for 7 hours. And DH forgot money to pay for parking in the rush!

BohemianRaspberry · 06/10/2013 00:50

Looks like I'm kicking off the Night owls club tonight. Neighbours have had a late night party and it's triggered an anxiety attack so that's a no on sleep for me.

Wish I could knit properly now, give me something to do. Will just lie here and read the papers on my tablet and let Junior practice chacha on my bladder and to ignore the head demons.

PinkWitch803 · 06/10/2013 01:00

I am still up, not sloghtly sleepy and feeling increasingly hot.

I had my concerns about movement earlier, so the fact my baby is clearly following the same dance class as yours bohemian, is quite reassuring :)

I am going to try to force myself to sleep in a minute and failing that, I will have to give up any hope for sleep tonight! So I may see you soon...
