Our new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NomDeClavier · 04/10/2013 21:42

I may have recommended natal hypnotherapy. I personally think it's worth the CDs and you can often pick then up cheap at NCT nearly new sales, or if you know anyone who's bought them see if you can borrow.

I have absolutely nothing done for hospital bag. I guess I'll need to start thinking about that!

Stom91 · 04/10/2013 21:42

Amazon are going newborn pampers nappies box of 74 for £7

Deya · 04/10/2013 21:55

Pistachio I have to say that hypnotherapy or soothing/relaxing type of CD is not something I could relate to while giving birth. If I'd like a nap during long hours of contractions, then yes, maybe.
I actually want to ask if I can play AC/DC or some other rock music while pushing Grin I mean it's hard work, I need adrenaline, stimulation and power! And blood, sweat and swearing go much better with rock than with "twinkle, twinkle little star". Haha - sorry if I've gone a little OTT here.

Pocketsocks · 04/10/2013 22:02

Hello all, mind if I join in?

I'm another due December 5th and having the joy of SPD. Must be something about the date!

I have two boys already age 8 and 3 and this will be boy number 3, much to MIL's saddness. She aimed so many girl vibes at my uterus before we found out, I'm sure he's going to think he is one!
But due to monty being a guinea pig for my consultants student, we are rather sure of what we are having.

I'm slightly higher risk due to various factors, retained placenta and a 2 litre pph with my first who was only 6lb 7oz followed by the unexpected 10lb 13oz his brother weighed. Both of them needed a few days in hospital for various small issues, so if I get a quick discharge this time I won't know what to do with myself!

Current irritations are the fact that I have to wait till the 30th for my group physio appointment and my upcoming gestational diabetes test. It's been a needle every 5 minutes what with blood tests, whooping cough vaccine and anti d in quick succession! Anyone else feeling like a pin cushion?
I also keep coming myself to death every night which I think is the pregnancy pillows fault.

Glad to see I'm not the only one wondering about movements. I should be glad of the break as things are getting quite painful, but I'm still constantly feeling like prodding him! I'm hoping he had finally turned from being breech and is getting comfy!

So that was my epically long introduction. Hope to get to know you all!

MildredH · 04/10/2013 22:19

Welcome pocket! I'm due 30 Nov- just been through the needlefest too! 28 week bloods, anti D, whooping cough.. Urgh. Glad to be done for a while.

Am going to make a start on a hosp bag this wk.. Smile

5ammy · 04/10/2013 22:24

Hi Pocketsocks,

Welcome :-)

Hope this birth goes a little better then your previous,

What's 'coming [yourself] to death'? If it's what I think it is, then where did you get that pregnancy pillow from, because I want one!!!!!

X

MildredH · 04/10/2013 22:25

Thanks for the amazon tip Stom. Getting some nappies/ wipes might be a good start to the baby bag..

Anyone know what size is a safe bet? Esp if getting a massive box.. Is size 1 going to be suitable if I have a big bruiser ( convinced ill be squeezing out an 11lb'er!)

EmB1715 · 04/10/2013 22:34

Hi Pocket Smile sorry to hear of your SPD too! Great to have more due date buddies!

Pistachio I got the Natal Hypnotherapy CD on eBay for about £6. Have yet to find the time to start it... really must get on with it!

PistachioTruffle · 04/10/2013 22:34

Thanks Nom,I think I might go for it, or try and see if I can get them a bit cheaper on eBay.
Deya, that's fair enough, it would be boring if we were all the same Grin To be honest, I've been feeling quite anxious (not about birth particularly, more generally) so I'm hoping it will help with that, and anything else is a bonus!

Welcome pocket Flowers

Stom, that's a bargain. I daren't buy any more first size though, I've got about 120 in a mix of various brands, and wonder if he might grow out of that size before we finish them if I buy any more. I notice they have the Lansinoh cream and breast pads at really good prices too.

Pocketsocks · 04/10/2013 22:35

See this is why I shouldn't hold a conversation and type at the same time. Auto correct needs vigilance!

I meant "cooking"!!!!

Mildred, I'd go for size 2 as in pampers at least I think they are 6lbs to 13lbs whereas size 1 are 4lbs to 11lbs

Deya, I like the idea of a bit of AC/DC! Thunderstuck seems like just the ticket to get you psyched up!

PistachioTruffle · 04/10/2013 22:36

Oops, cross posts with em. It appears eBay may be the place to look then Smile

Stom91 · 04/10/2013 22:45

Welcome. Pockets :)

I was going to get the 6 - 13lb ones.. As I don't think baby will be any smaller than 6lb. If she is we can grab a few smaller sizes on the way back from the hospital.... Mw hasn't given me any indication of how big she thinks baby will be... I'd quite like to know though.

Just retold dp that im at risk of rapid birth. And he's like Omg what am I going to do if I have to deliver her.. I don't know how to deliver a baby. Why didn't you tell me this... I said you did you just didn't listen as usual...
Then he kisses bump and says Dont worry lil one I'll ge you out - then he says to me i wont have to sew you up will i? Lol!

Stom91 · 04/10/2013 22:46

pockets we also have a Facebook group just message me a link to your profile and I'll add you in

PinkWitch803 · 04/10/2013 22:53

I don't want to get many nappies until I meet the LO and know the size we need, then Amazon here we come.

I can't use my pillow at the moment because I do truly melt every night. And day at the moment. It is October and I was wearing a summer dress the other day! Bearing in mind I usually struggle with being cold. Heatwaves are generally comfortable for me. I am so pleased I am warming up as the weather is cooling down.

Deya · 04/10/2013 22:59

Another hot pregnant lady here! Had to tell off DH for turning on the heating the other day. That has NEVER happened before!

kchapper5 · 05/10/2013 05:42

I could cry I'm in so much pain tonight my lower abs/groin area hurts so much I can't roll over in bed or even lifting a leg up like to go upstairs is horrendous. My hips click everytime I try to push myself over from one side to the other. I know can't sleep can't ring the midwife later as the number I've got is for Monday to Friday between 9 and 10am. Grr.
I really hope everyone else is having a better nights sleep.
Ooo and welcome pocket

mumoftwoboysS · 05/10/2013 07:28

This thread moves too fast! pistachio I also recommended natal hypnotherapy -it's great to relax before the birth- sooth away your anxieties which could make for a calmer easier labour- I have yet to use it in labour, perhaps if I get to the hospital in time this time I will!

Thanks to whoever mentioned getting flu jab in he arm you don't sleep on- mine was killing me and luckily I had it in my right arm so just had to turn over again when it woke me!

Had THE most horrendous dream last night- I was being chased by these people and had to kill them (with a pitchfork through the heart) to survive! I'm a nice person really- no psychotic tendencies honest! Grin so disturbing!...

WhisperMen · 05/10/2013 08:00

morning all Smile

just woke up from the best sleep ever. I didn't wake up for the loo once! I am at PIL's house and have a single bed here, so I think it helps that I don't have DP rolling all over and breathing on me. Grin

sorry you're in pain k hopefully your midwife can refer you to physio Smile

I haven't brought any nappies or wipes. tp be perfectly honest I sort of completely forgot about them Blush

off to London tomorrow as DP is running a half marathon for charity. he's raised nearly £400 which is pretty cool Smile does mean we have to be up at 4am though Shock then I have to stand around for a few hours while he runs the thing.

hope you're all keeping well and enjoy your weekends

LadyMedea · 05/10/2013 08:45

Hey kchapper, SPD is shitty. Don't be afraid to take the full dose of paracetamol, rest as much as you can, keep your knees together when turning in bed/getting out of a car, avoid driving, go up stairs one at a time. Also you can try putting a belt around you hips and tightening it to hold your pelvis stable.

And get on to the midwives on Monday morning they should refer you to physio... Although the wait around here is 2 weeks so if you can afford it you may want to go private. I've got my first physio group session on Wednesday and I'm still thinking a may go private to get some one to one manual physio. My local Spire private hospital has a specialist spd clinic.

whisper I know you want to support DP but standing for hours.....?

Chilli81 · 05/10/2013 08:51

welcome Pocket and other newcomers. I am also suffering from the dreaded spd. it's cheap isn't it?
Thanks for the nappy tip. I guess I better start buying that stuff to spread out the cost.
I think I may also have a look into hypnobirth cds. found breathing and visualisations really helpful last time but would be nice to have guided visualisations. oh God, I sound like a right hippy. I'm not, honest! Wink

Chilli81 · 05/10/2013 08:51

crap not cheap

EmB1715 · 05/10/2013 09:11

What an awful night's sleep! I know sleep will be few and far between when baby is here but I am so looking forward to not being pregnant anymore!

What was the waiting time for those of you who have been referred for physio? I've been waiting for 2 weeks and nothing yet.

Hope you all had a good sleep Smile

kchapper5 · 05/10/2013 09:28

I haven't been diagnosed with spd but I'm assuming that's what it is. :( thank you all for the advice :)
Wow that's amazing he's raised that much money so far whisper could you take a camping chair with you so you could sit down

5ammy · 05/10/2013 10:34

deya,

Your post made me think - we should think up some 'songs to labour to'.

When my mum was in labour with my youngest brother I remember them bringing a TV in and David Bowie being on singing 'Under pressure' - her waters were still in tact and she'd been going on about the pressure. Every time I hear that song I think of my brother being born.

Anyway -

Songs to labour to:
Push it by Salt n Pepa,
All that she wants (is another baby) by Ace of Base

Any more?

NomDeClavier · 05/10/2013 10:49

Argh they won't give me my GD results over the phone because a biologist isn't there to interpret them. But they'd happily hand over the bit of uninterested paper and when I said I was capable of interpreting them myself she got all huffy and said she couldn't let me go that. Still no toxoplasmosis thankfully!

I used the techniques in labour but didn't have the CD is music. I had my own which was considerably more metal influenced than the natal hypnotherapy choice Children of Bodom

I really feel for all of you with SPD :( It just sounds so painful.

We had an amazing lie in! DS stayed asleep until 10.30, although I was on the beanbag in his room between 4 and 7 Hmm DH can take night duty tonight but he never wakes up whereas I'm a light sleeper :(

stom how come you're at risk of rapid birth? Best get your DP watching OBEM!

Welcome pockets!
