Fucking hell, no way am I resigning myself to panty-liners for the rest of my life.

Yes, yes, BWP, but are you a hippy?

BadlyWrittenPoem · 30/09/2013 16:34

I'm now googling in order to find a definition of hippy.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 30/09/2013 16:39

Wiki says, "The origins of the terms hip and hep are uncertain, though by the 1940s both had become part of African American jive slang and meant "sophisticated; currently fashionable; fully up-to-date"." I think that probably rules me out from being a hippy then.

But being more serious, no I'm not a hippy - I just happen to make some counter-cultural choices which are assosciated with hippies. Smile

BakingEating · 30/09/2013 16:52

Lyra if it's not too late (or maybe next time) you need to make Shakshuka with all your tomatoes and peppers. You cook up onions, toms, peppers, spices into a kind of sauce, then poach some eggs on the sauce and serve. A quick google should give you a recipe.

Cass I should think the answer to "you're not my mum" in that particular argument was "yes, that's precisely my f*ing point! Now give me my stuff back"

Prambo · 30/09/2013 17:45

Who are the event organisers around here? Moosey and Edamame? Can you please arrange for Joaquin Phoenix and Jake Gyllenhaal to fuck me simultaneously? Fanks.

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 17:49

I'm do events Pram. That's a bit beyond my remit though, maybe the others can help!

Prambo · 30/09/2013 17:50

BWP, do you wear tie-dyed maxi skirts? Do you wash your hair only biannually? Are your kids called Twig and Pebble? Do you have those horrible dangly little tits where the nipple covers the whole surface area? Is your large Edwardian house a filthy and chaotic fucking disgrace? If the answer to any of the above is 'yes' you are a hippy.

Grin at Baking

Prambo · 30/09/2013 17:51

That's why I didn't ask you, Comms; I knew you couldn't pull it off.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 30/09/2013 17:53

Nope, definitely not a hippy then.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 30/09/2013 17:54

I wouldn't mind having a large Edwardian house though.

commsgirl · 30/09/2013 17:54

Pram Grin. Need a change of career I think.

Edamame · 30/09/2013 18:02

How uncanny, organising the s'leb DP-ing of pregnant women is actually my speciality, Pram. But Jake's gonna be a bit knackered after I've done him in partnership with the delightful Ryan Gosling Grin

Talking of movie actors, my boyfriend's birthday is this week and I'm going to be wearing a Carey Mulligan face mask throughout dinner. He will not be able to keep his pants on. Though I won't be able to eat as it only has eye holes, no mouth.

Prambo · 30/09/2013 18:42

Laughing my fucking head off here, Edamame. You're nuts, you are. Carey Mulligan is a pre-pubescent tramp and Ryan Gosling is a weak-chinned girl.

Prambo · 30/09/2013 18:43

..the no-eating mask is no problemo. I once 'drank' vodka through my eye socket. That was sensationally painful so I suggest you leave jalapeno out of your din-dins.

BionicEar · 30/09/2013 18:47

Evening Martians and bumps! Smile

Went to GP this morn as been having a lot of pain in my abdomen over weekend and ahem Blush been bit tender below. Saw lovely lady gp who checked me out, and is going to send sample off as I may have a urine infection (due to white cells and blood in wee tmi I know!) and also thinks I have a mild case of Thrush (one of the joys of pregnancy) so gave me cream for that. Got to ring on Wed to find out results on wee sample as she didn't want to give me anti bios unless definitely have one.

Nausea-wise it seems to be ebbing off a bit - yay! Only felt sick when needed to eat so improvement on all day nausea.

Also had good day at work and got praise off my boss which was lovely, as I've been feeling a bit pants lately about it all.

Getting my new car tomorrow, am very excited! Grin Took old car to be cleaned today, looks lovely, not sure about the air fresher dangly thing that they stuck in as that made me feel a bit nauseous.

Jolleigh · 30/09/2013 19:49

I have a dumpling crisis! Do I thicken my stew before adding the dumplings or after everything is finished cooking? Completely drawing a blank here Confused

Jolleigh · 30/09/2013 20:00

Sod it. Half now, half after if it needs it. Nothing wrong with a bit of improv.

Imeg · 30/09/2013 20:11

I know it was ages ago but someone mentioned having irn bru with their dinner - I love irn bru!! Probably some sort of conditioning effect as when I was a child we always went on holiday to Scotland every year and that was the only time we were allowed it, so I associate it with holidays. Or maybe it's because I was born in Scotland!

Was sick again this morning.... at 18 weeks!! I do think it's on the way out though. On the positive side I am feeling some odd twitches so think it may be the baby moving. (Or else wind from eating baked beans last night).

MummyPig24 · 30/09/2013 20:11

So I saw Lovely Linda. Bloods, urine, blood pressure all fine. She measured my tummy which was fine. We heard baby's heartbeat, yay! As we were on our way to the in laws all 4 of us went in so the kids got to hear it too which was great. Ds asked rather too eagerly for my liking "are you having an injection?!" Remind me not to take him to my 28 week appt where I have bloods done. I see the gp at 25 weeks too.

I asked about the consultant appointment and she said as my bmi was .9 above the cut off then she had to refer me but they would more than likely discharge me as I am otherwise fit and healthy and I would definitely be able to go to the birth centre. Woohoo! Except... The birth centre is closed for refurbishment. It had better not take 5 months or I will be seriously upset!

Prambo · 30/09/2013 20:17

Bionic, sorry you are facing the possibility of minge-rot (blame Jolls for that gem) but hooray! for extolling bosses Smile

Jolls, I've never thickened my stews but I put my dumplings into the casserole 30 mins before end time. There's no avoiding the soggy undercarriage of a dumpling sat in stew, I'm afraid.

Nick from Corrie's coming out of his coma if anyone's fucking interested...

LyraSilvertongue · 30/09/2013 20:28

Thanks Baking. That sounds delicious. I meant to do some cooking this afternoon but couldn't be arsed. Tomorrow at the latest before it all goes off.

I did, however, make a lovely seafood noodle soup, loosely based on a recipe from my Wagamama cookbook, for dinner. DP ruined his by putting chilli sauce all over it Angry. He doesn't appreciate the subtle flavours of Japanese food.

OwlinaTree · 30/09/2013 20:32

Ahh, im not on Facebook prambo so can't join the group. Must say I'm tempted tho...

PiratesMam · 30/09/2013 20:38

Hello everyone! I'm on technological lock-down because I still haven't seen the last episode of Breaking Bad and bloody DH is out at a work thing this eve. I know people are discussing it on FB and I don't want to ruin the surprise!! To distract myself I too am watching Nick come out of the least convincing coma in history. I just tried to pretend to be in a coma on my sofa. My coma was better.

So excited to see we have twins on here!! My DH would have loved twins. Welcome to the thread.

Edam I am looking forward to hearing the news on Wednes!!

JK that must have been hard today. My DD starts nursery in Jan - she will be 2.9yrs. How close to 3 is yours? I'm worried mine isn't ready. It will be 2 mornings a week. She's still my baby!!!

I'm on my phone so can't name check anyone else but am glad everyone seems to be over the worst of the sickness. I've been sick just once in the last couple of days and am off the meds. Woohoo! Feeling more movement too. Am 17+4.

OwlinaTree · 30/09/2013 20:40

We are watching last breaking bad at 9pm, pirates, so exciting!!

BakingEating · 30/09/2013 20:44
