Ok we don't. We're sick a lot, cry at adverts, moan about back/hip pain and if we got a quid for each new stretchmark generated we could all give up work and employ a nanny.

In fact if you know any teenagers feel free to show them our threads...we are the most effective contraceptive since sliced bread don't ask.

Ladies...as you were....

I was doing the on call clinic today and saw the email. Fumed. Went onto the intranet and booked them (the classes are at the hospital where I work). Then I rang DH with a list :o

I also hate-booked bonfire night off, I'be decided I'm having a party that night.

DH has banned me from making any decision while hormonal :)

misskatamari · 06/10/2013 18:12

Awww bear that sucks about work - bunch if twats! I like Tristan - it's quite unusual and if your brother doesn't like it just ignore him. It's you and DH that count. That's the reason were not telling people ours. I don't give a flying fuck if they don't like it as we love it but I don't wanna be told as it is natural to start doubting yourself. Now we just need a middle name and I am stuck!

We've decided on Artemis for our little girl (it's one of the main characters in my favourite book) and if people don't like it they can shut up and be glad I'm not using the same spelling (Art3mis lol!). No idea what middle name to go for tho. Originally I wanted Scarlett as a girls first name and maybe Agnes as middle as it was my grandmas name but DH hates it. The only other girls name I quite like is Tabitha - but I wanna save tabitha and Scarlett incase I have another girl. Think we need to get looking thru some baby name books!

Lol my Preggo messing up cooking dream appears to slightly ring true - was planning on roast gammon but (don't ask me why!) I bought pork shoulder joint before. Which I just cooked in the same way I do gammon (cook in water on job for hours). Yeah that's not how you cook it. So now it has become accidental pulled pork - which I'm actually pretty chuffed with as I've been wanting to make that for a while. Shame I don't have apple sauce tho as I realised I could have fulfilled my pork/stuffing/apple sauce bap crazing! Doh!

Bearfrills · 06/10/2013 18:17

Yeah, we've decided not to tell anyone else and I've sworn my brother to secrecy. FIL asked us earlier if we had a name, we told him we've decided on Duke.

I love the name Artemis! Which book is she from?

Stuck on middle names too, DS has Bear because its what DH called him while I was pregnant and DD has Joan after my Nana.

misskatamari · 06/10/2013 18:22

Awwww Bear is sooo cute I love it!
Artemis is from ready player one my absolute favourite book! I have read (well listened to) the audio book about 5 times now and DH is the same. The main boy character is called Parzival which will be middle name if we have a boy one day (DH says not allowed as first name as they are sort of a couple in the book Hmm)

pettyprudence · 06/10/2013 18:55

bear sorry to hear that work is being rubbish. I think you might also need to attend aquanatal and pregnancy yoga (they are run by mw's and the council here so count as legit ante-natal stuff) and a breastfeeding workshop if you have any of those. I only booked anything antenatal during work hours at my last job too (hence I skipped the parent craft/antenatal classes).

I love Tristian btw, it would be one my possibles but I am trying very hard to find a name with a family link. Gilbert is the one I like, dh doesn't like anything so far (nn Gil). He was like this with ds too though and then just one day changed his mind and acted like the names were his idea all along Hmm

Julietee · 06/10/2013 19:05

I love the bed nest, but I'm afraid with the way I sleep I'll end up kneeing the baby in the face!

Tristan is nice - classic (Tristan and Isolde).

Misskatamari - ooh, is it a worthwhile audiobook? I LOVE audiobooks. Just finished 'Bring up the Bodies' by Hilary Mantel which was wonderful, and onto 'Home' written and read by Bill Bryson.

misskatamari · 06/10/2013 19:08

Definitely Julietee - it's read by Wil Wheaton and he just does an awesome job. I literally get to the end of it and restart it again. It's like a nerdy/romantic adventure story, I love it!

EeyoreIsh · 06/10/2013 19:20

bear that's shit about work. I'd forgotten ante natal classes count as legit time off, do nct classes count as mine is on a Friday? (the only option available in my town.)

Tristan rocks as a name.

misskatamari I made pulled pork this weekend as well. I love it, it's lush. We have a slow cooker so it's so easy to make.

so baby brain has officially hit. I'm learning to drive and went for a drive on Saturday and did really well. so today I drove the 5 minutes to a friend's house, and drove into a low wall whilst doing a turn in the road. luckily I was going really slowly, no one or no other car was damaged. But it's broken our front fog light and bumper. FIL thinks we'll need to replace the bumper, light and fitting, which will cost £££. We won't want to claim on insurance. I'm doubly annoyed as it's a brand new car and we really really really can't afford any additional expenses. I really need DH to get a job as we're getting increasingly broke.

CubanoHabana · 06/10/2013 19:26

I love the name Tristan - May have to suggest to dh... Only just heard it the other day as well and it's really grown on me. At the moment, only boys names we agree on are Nathaniel (nn Nate) and Damon. Girls names either Eleanor violet or Sophia Victoria. No idea of middle names for boys...

Also really love Artemis misskat love Classical Greek names but dh not as keen.

Other exciting news, not only am I half way today but also felt my first proper movement in the form of kicks!

winterflowers · 06/10/2013 20:03

Artemis is lovely, would you shorten it at all? I almost wouldn't as it's beautiful as is. Tristan is great bear, don't listen to your bro. And cubano I think February's flower is a violet so that fit a lovely as a middle name! I tend to go go thru phases with names, I love them for a while and then start to think they sound weird. Am going to havr.to become decisive before LO arriv es! At the moment I really like Elysia and Allegra for girls...boys Thomas or Tobias. Will find out which team on Fridau fx.

Sorry to hear about your car eeyore at least it was nothing too bad and you guys are ok. Anf bear I like your tactics! Totally didn't realisr you could take time off for classes etc. But aside from tht they can't treat you in that ways and definitely they should honour what they have said

LovesToBake · 06/10/2013 21:14

Somanychanges that sounds rubbish about your hospital. Just wanted to say that the Roysl Surrey in Guildford is great - it's where I had DS and this time round I plan to have a home birth but under the care of their home birth team. I'm up there tomorrow for my scan in fact. I'm rubbish at remembering everyone - where are you based? Is guildford an ok distance for you to consider switching hospitals?

So, we find out pink or blue tomorrow. I'm beyond excited!

Bearfrills · 06/10/2013 21:39

Yay for kicks!

And good luck for tomorrow lovestobake :)

I'm excited to get to have my 20wk scan again in three weeks time, hoping he gets into a better position before then though.

Cubano, Nathaniel is a great name. I have one of those and he's fab, highly recommend :o

Sassy20 · 07/10/2013 06:41

Good luck with the scan today Lovestobake x

Timpani · 07/10/2013 07:17

Hi all. Not been around for ages. Have been ok. Am 23 weeks now. Had scan and all good but didn't find out. Baby looks so much like DS though! I'm still tiny with not much of a bump! Could pass for not pregnant in some outfits!

Julietee · 07/10/2013 08:15

Good luck with the scans today, ladies. I had the most horrible anxiety dream about mine Confused

Camwombat · 07/10/2013 08:28

Eeyore thats crap but these things happen, usually to me have you thought about going to a scrap yard to look for a bumper etc.
Someone reversed into my dbs car in a car park (no details left) and he got a bumper for very little from there. He then found a small independent garage who fitted it all for him.

laura0007 · 07/10/2013 10:32

Morning pregos hope you're all ok. Good luck lovestobake for your scan.

I'm feeling depressed this morning. I've just weighed myself and I've put just over a stone on Sad

sunflowered · 07/10/2013 11:54

Just back from our scan and it's all looking good - one healthy and (still) extremely wriggly baby with all the right bits. Placenta is now 'high anterior' too so will hopefully start to experience the joys of being belted in the stomach more clearly soon. The only negative was the bit where the sonographer said 'it's at the upper end of the size scale'. She wasn't exaggerating. I think I might actually be incubating a toddler.

Good luck to everyone else who's got scans today Smile

Laura I woke up last night in a cold sweat because I'd been dreaming about excessive weight gain. Am also about 4kg up on the start but I'm blaming it all on the huge baby. It is obviously nothing at all to do with cake.

LovesToBake · 07/10/2013 12:30

Sunflowered glad your scan went well. If it's of any reassurance, they told me at the 20wk scan with DS that his head was measuring unusually large (not what you want to hear) so they booked me in for another scan at 28wks and all was fine and he doesn't have a weird big head or anything. Fingers crossed you won't give birth to a toddler!

So we had ours this morning and we're Team Pink! I am beyond excited as I hadn't dared hope for a girl to be honest. We already have DS so I feel so delighted that our little family will be complete and we'll get to experience bringing up a little boy and a little girl. All looked good in the scan too - long legs apparently. Clearly going to be a supermodel...

sunflowered · 07/10/2013 12:55

Congratulations lovesto bake, and thanks for the reassurance. Sonographer wasn't worried so unless I start measuring big she won't rescan. I know of someone due the same time whose measurements are all really small so am happy that everything's (just about) in normal range and hopefully it'll be a very robust little thing! Enjoy stocking up on team pink goodies. Is your ds looking forward to having a little sister?

pettyprudence · 07/10/2013 12:59

Congratulations on the scan news Loves and sunflowered. Loves I am so jealous - I really want a dd this time, but the fear of gender disappointment stopped me from finding out the flavour at the scan. I know once they are here I won't give a flying fig and tbh being quiet/calm dc is higher up my priority list Grin

Littleen · 07/10/2013 13:06

Ding halfway there today :) 20 weeks!

Going to my first midwife appointment this week, apparantly mine is "early" because they don't normally do one until 24 weeks unless requested. How can they expect pregnant girls not to have any questions or concerns until that late, I do not understand. But really scared of the scales - not weighed myself since I was 12 weeks, when I had lost 3-4 pounds from pre-pregnancy. However, have been eating like a cow the last 2 weeks so it's bound to show :/

We are very much struggling on names, I have two that I am very set on, Aidan or Storm, one as first and one as second. Don't know anyone with those names (Storm is a Norwegian male name, but not very common. But I love it :) )
However, my other half is unsure about Aidan, and only thinks of sci-fi chick names Storm for that name, so has vetoed it. Damn him! He has only got one "acceptable" suggestion, Luka/Luca, but I am not keen as Lukas is the number 1 name popular over here. Hated being "Ida number 1-2-3" in my class of 24 kids at school, so don't want to do that. His other suggestions are all very strange Norwegian names that belongs to 60 year olds currently. Not old enough to be cool again, they just seem awkward.

We have looked through 1 name book from each country, and lots fo websites, but he's soooo picky!! Anyone got any suggestions?

Julietee · 07/10/2013 17:53

Scan went well - all looking good and we're team blue (I knew it!). Actually, that was the first thing she said - he was not shy, luckily! Even I saw definite boy bits and I found much of it hard to interpret visually.

Afterwards me and DH went to John Lewis and picked out a supercute onesie and little fluffy coat suit for going home, plus a LaMaze toy called Captain Calamari :D
By the time we sat down for lunch I was exhausted - I think all the emotions and anxiety being released got to me at once. The dog has had to do without her walk today.

Littleen I love the name Storm!

winterflowers · 07/10/2013 18:41

Congrats on the scans today ladies! Glad to hear the good news.

Litleen I love the name Aidan, I also really.like Adrian.

Sassy20 · 07/10/2013 19:11

Congrats on team blue Julietee. I love the Lamaze toys. X
