I decided to take a peek into the antenatal club threads, but there's no June thread yet, although for good reason.

I may be jinxing myself here, but after a couple very very faint positives on ICs for the last couple days I got a positive on an FRER this morning, so thought it would be safe to start one up.

Of course, still early days, but if it sticks my due date will be 3-5 June, depending on several websites.... What can I say, I tested early!

I hope someone comes to join me soon. There have to be some more recent BFPs....

Pjen- wow and congratulations!! Sincerely hope that you'll have a double blessing in less than 8 months time :)

Bludger, yes I know, i had to swallow 12 pills. GP said my prescription for 5mg folic acid will be ready to pick up tomorrow.

PJen · 09/10/2013 20:17

Thank you London. I need to not get my hopes too high due to high risk but it is hard.

I am taking 4 mg folic acid too. It is because I have a hetero mutation on MTHFR gene. 15-20% of Caucasians do have this gene mutations, which means that the body can't absorb the folic acid to be absorbed properly, hence the highest dose. Since a lot of people have this gene mutation and it causes blood clotting in baby (or mother) and causing miscarriage, most drs advise 4-5 mg folic acid even if you haven't done the genetic testing. Since too much folic acid can't hurt. I am not in UK right now (I used to live there) and can buy 1 mg follic acids (tiny pills) and there is 1 mg in my prenatal vit so I just have to take 4 pills for that. I also take calcium chews (since I am on clexane - heparin - and it causes bone loss), vitamin D 1000 iu, and omega 3.

GillyBillyWilly · 09/10/2013 20:18

FYI ginger I will be at lewisham hospital as well! That's where my scan is on 20th nov so I guess that's where I am for the duration.
I've heard good things about their new maternity facilities and I'm feeling confident they will be great Smile
I live in hither green se13 Smile

GillyBillyWilly · 09/10/2013 20:20

And wow congrats PJ! Thanks

PJen · 09/10/2013 20:26

Carrot, I agree that there is no need to get midwife referral until then. Specially that the midwife won't see you till closer to end of first trimester anyway and then she does almost nothing but filling forms with your medical history background. Good luck with your upcoming scan :)

cheesysmile · 09/10/2013 20:32

Congrats PJen - I so hope it works out for you, stay positive Flowers

Yay for the 3+ Gilly!

I've been getting CM as well, was thinking earlier I was going to ask you ladies if it was normal so nice to see its already been asked, hence must be normal! Smile

I have my midwife appt on 24 Oct (will be almost 8 wks) but have no idea about the scan date. I'm assuming the midwife books it after I've seen her. I think I'm about 3 days less than the midwife will think but not planning to tell them as hoping I might get the scan a few days earlier. I'm desperate to have a scan so every day counts!

bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 20:33

Congrats, PJen!!!

No wonder I've had problems all day, just wait, penis beakers will be the Christmas present of choice for the man in your life in this year's Christmas magazines!

bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 20:40

Flipping heck, wrong thread, the penis beaker is messing everything up!

What I meant to say was, it takes a mighty effort to get to speak to a GP for a prescription, a call back can take about 2-3 hours and I can't really receive phonecalls at work, so this is really annoying. Might just take all the folic acid I have in the house and then ask at my scan appointment.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 09/10/2013 20:52

Ooooohh, how exciting PJen! Congratulations!

CleverOl10 · 09/10/2013 20:57

I have been struggling to post - it's been crashing all day. After googling penis beaker I now understand lol. Thanks bludger!

TinyTear · 09/10/2013 21:01

Exciting. Our first twins!!

PJen · 09/10/2013 22:02

Thank you ladies. Thanks And double thanks for not throwing me out of your thread. :) In my last mumsnet thread (when expecting DC1) I gave birth 2 months ahead of everyone else (premie) but still they allowed me to stay on the board. I will try to not be too early this time.

Ahhhaa... I didn't know why mumsnet is not working today but googling the penis beaker explained it!

Gingerandcocoa · 09/10/2013 22:22

Gilly I'm glad you've heard good things, makes me feel a lot better! Will still think about going private but will probably end up at lewisham.

Doctor gave me due date of 15 June rather than 13, but can I cheat and keep my 13th June date? I explained I have short cycles but she said it doesn't change how they date it....

CleverOl10 · 09/10/2013 22:22

Oh yes, definitely stay PJen. Always nice to know who is going first (hopefully!)

blondiedollface · 10/10/2013 00:45

Eeeeee congrats PJen! Twins is so exciting!

I've been getting period type cramps all today and haven't managed much sleep today, so the night shift is going s-l-o-w-l-y and I can't stop yawning!! I am TIRED, luckily tomorrow DD is at nursery for a full day so I am planning on sleeping until I have to pick her up :D

I am also hungry, and have no food with me :(

Sorry for the moan. Everything seems worse at night I swear!

So exciting for all of you who've got scan dates _ I rang my surgery today and they've referred me to the mw so hopefully will get a date for booking appt and dating scan soon.

ThreeFromDesire · 10/10/2013 01:00

Oooo Ooo oo! Twinnies!! How many weeks are you pjen?s

I had consultant appointment today and have a scan booked for eight weeks gest Smile also got a provisional section date!!! Lol.

So busy in here, I can't keep up!

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/10/2013 03:42

Another night of waking up at 2.30am :( Just what's going on?!

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/10/2013 03:50

Blondie- hope you'll have a good rest today. I always keep an apple or two in my bag. They are perfect as they never get squashed like bananas.

Pjen - goodness me! Hope that all of these pills concoctions continue to weave their magic throughout the rest of your pregnancy. And I'll say it again, wow! You are having twins!!

I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself but I've decided which hospital I'd like to give birth in.... Royal Surrey here I come! Last time I gave birth in Epsom GH but I've been hearing such good things about Royal Surrey that I'm giving it a shot. Are there any other Surrey ladies on this thread?

Right I'm going to bite the bullet now and go and make myself a lovely decaf coffee.

By the way, has anyone adjusted their diet? I don't drink or smoke and eat relatively healthily. Since getting the BFP I've cut out junk and I'm mostly snacking on fruit. I'm thinking if giving Slimming World a whirl as I need some weight. GP recommended Slimming World. Any thoughts?

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/10/2013 03:53

Three, I'm exactly the same. I can't keep up with the thread- moves so fast!
I usually can only check in here after work. Might sneak in and log on from work when I'm being naughty. But even then I can't comment individually as that takes too long.

adaloveslace · 10/10/2013 04:46

Wow PJen - congratulations! That is brilliant news. I'd be quite happy with twins I think.... Which is slightly funny as two days ago I would have said I didn't even want another baby! I went six weeks early with DC2 as well - hoping to hold on a bit longer this time.

Blondie I'm in Mosman. So love it here. I was just in the city for a meeting and kept pinching myself how lucky I am. It is hot today though ... 39 forecast and bushfire warning nudging catastrophic! Don't know how I'll cope with this heat later...

I just caved and used my second CB digi - still reading 2-3 but it's 3 in the afternoon so possibly should have waited til tomorrow. I am only 26 DPO too, so will just leave it and try again in a few days. My symptoms are kicking in - acne Sad, sore boobs, sneezing and bloating so not too worried. I was exactly like this at this stage with DS and thought I was much further along, but when they scanned me they couldn't find a heartbeat and I had to go back a week later, when he was right there, pulsing away.

Have a good day everyone

tannyLoo72 · 10/10/2013 06:12

Pjen oh my! You can't go anywhere!

Well. I've been awake for an hour. Can't tell what's waking me up, but my tummy is playing a tune.

The last few days my body seems to have settled into a pattern of nausea first thing (true ms!) and on-off waves until after lunch. Then I get the shakes for about half an hour. After that is the best time, when I feel ok and can get on with things.

Still feeling dizzy and bloated, and really hoping the signs are good.

Mad day today, tidying, packing, losing all sense of proportion...

Wish me luck! Grin

IBelieveInEngels · 10/10/2013 06:16

Morning all. Wouldn't let me post last night (DH said I looked quite bereft the whole evening with no MN). Was exhausted and SOOO hungry last night.

Congrats PJ!

Okay, off to work now!

GillyBillyWilly · 10/10/2013 06:31

Morning! I've been awake since about 5.30am..... Better than previous nights when I was waking up at 2/3/4am.
Wondering if I can actually wait til 20th nov for my scan... Seems like a million years away!

adaloveslace · 10/10/2013 06:46

Best of good luck and happiness tanny!

Have a good day everyone else. Should be winding down into evening now but I've got two more work meetings to have tonight. It is currently 37 degrees in Sydney. Think this is the hottest I've ever experienced. And it's only spring...

Feeling okay with it though, but come back to me in 20 weeks

Liquidambar · 10/10/2013 07:00

pjen congratulations. how exciting!
My luggage hasn't arrived yetAngry just had to buy some underwater, toiletries and a nice top. I'm giving a presentation today so I need to look like i haven't been wearing the same clothes for 3 days. My prenatal vitamins are in my luggage. but it should be okay to skip it for a couple of days - i would hope
