I decided to take a peek into the antenatal club threads, but there's no June thread yet, although for good reason.

I may be jinxing myself here, but after a couple very very faint positives on ICs for the last couple days I got a positive on an FRER this morning, so thought it would be safe to start one up.

Of course, still early days, but if it sticks my due date will be 3-5 June, depending on several websites.... What can I say, I tested early!

I hope someone comes to join me soon. There have to be some more recent BFPs....

Thanks for your opinion PJen. Given how difficuly it's been to even get an interview maybe you're right, I just feel like it might not be the best start to a working relationship if it seems like I haven't been upfront. This is of course academic until I actually get an offer!

As for SMP, from the gov.uk website (www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave/eligibility):-

"To qualify for SMP you must:
earn on average at least £109 a week
give the correct notice
give proof you’re pregnant
have worked for your employer continuously for at least 26 weeks up to the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth - called the ‘qualifying week’"

As I am currently 6+5 I wont have been working for them long enough to qualify, at least that was my understanding?

TinyTear · 09/10/2013 11:17

that is true Penguin, but you will get Maternity Allowance which isn't that much different to SMP (I think you lose the 6 weeks at 90% )

That can be more of an issue on jobs where you get a really good maternity package... mine just gives SMP so not much difference

PJen - good luck with your scan.. very exciting times!

I got a letter through the post confirming we got our first choice hospital, I'm over the moon. Got appointment for 12 weeks scan as well on 18th November. Nothing yet about the 8 week dating appointment, but hopefully that will come separately very soon.

I'm glad some others on here are only having very mild symptoms as well. I'm 6+1 now and still only fatigue. I had mild cramping at the beginning, but that seems to have passed now.

By way of a more detailed introduction. I'm 31, DH is 33. Both boringly British, as everyone seems to hail from very interesting backgrounds! I'm from London, my husband Derbyshire. We have been together nearly 10 years and live in the Clapham area of London. This will be our first child (but we have two very needy cats)!

wispaxmas · 09/10/2013 11:37

Clever, I went to the dentist yesterday, too, and told them. How surprised was I to find out the £300+ crown I need was actually going to be free!

OP posts:
TinyTear · 09/10/2013 11:39

Carrie, my 12 week scan is the same day as you...

I see you are in Clapham though, so I won't bump into you at the Royal Free hospital

bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 11:44

I need to see the dentist soon, too, there's a crown I've been putting off for a while now, I'm hoping to get that done sometime in the next 1 1/2 years!

I haven't been very secretive about my pregnancy, I suck at keeping things to myself so quite a few people know.

Our offer on a house was accepted and we'll hopefully be moving soon, now I'm trying to work out the logistics of getting our furniture moved when I'm not allowed to carry anything!

GillyBillyWilly · 09/10/2013 13:31

Today has been a good day!

Got 3+ on a clearblue digi this morning and have found out that I will be having my 12 week scan on 20th November at 9:20am Smile

I will actually only be 11+2 at that point but the doctor thinks I will be 12+1 based on my LMP... Nevermind... I will just have to tell the midwife and also tell them when they do the scan Smile

Exciting! Hope everyone's well Thanks

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/10/2013 13:35

Hi all, sorry I can’t refer to everyone – this thread has grown enormously and I’m on my phone.

I'm so jealous that some of you have scan dates and midwife appointments. GP won't even write the referral letter until I’m 7-8 weeks (due to previous miscarriage).

I’ve now requested a telephone appointment to check the dosage for folic acid as my BMI is over 30.

9 more sleeps until I have my first scan and hopefully I’ll see my little beanie with a lovely heartbeat.

For thsoe that did the CB digital, how many DPO were you?

GillyBillyWilly · 09/10/2013 13:44

London I got 3+ this morning and I'm 23 dpo Smile

carrie105 · 09/10/2013 14:46

Gilly - congrats on receiving your scan date. Exciting isn't it!

Tinytear - Bring on 18th Nov! I'm at St Thomas'.

CleverOl10 · 09/10/2013 15:00

So jealous of all these scan dates! With my first midwife appt not being until 6th Nov, I guess my scan won't be until December!

wispaxmas · 09/10/2013 17:31

london, I didn't get the 3+ until 28dpo! I got 2-3 the day before.

gilly, I'm not sure you'll have to tell your sonographer you're. Week less than they think, isn't it their job to alter the date to what it should be based on gestational age anyways? Congrats on e scan date, it's 2 days before mine! I can't wait, from that week onward we are going to have so many scans on this thread! And as soon as all the 11-14 wk scans are done we will likely be getting some 20-wk scans!

I have signed up with Andrews estate agents today and they've been brilliant. They've already lined up a viewing for Saturday even though they've not yet taken photos or anything. I think we might actually sell our flat by Christmas!

OP posts:
wispaxmas · 09/10/2013 17:32

clever, even though I have a scan date! I've not even heard from the midwife! My GP referred me for both and the scan was booked really quickly by the hospital and the midwives are just not as quick here.

OP posts:
bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 17:36

London, I have a high BMI and wasn't told to take more folic acid than the normal dose, they're happy enough with just ordinary Pregnancare.

My mom had a high BMI when she had my brother and had a perfect pregnancy without any folic acid at all.

Fingers crossed, Wispa!

monkeybananas · 09/10/2013 18:18

I had the dentist today- wee free clea. and polishWink
Got a 3+ on digi this morning too (couldn't resist checking!)
Dr has referred me to hospital for an early scan as I was taking Clomid to conceive and last time I mc but he's not certain they'll bother still, I'm in the system.
Can't stop drinking today, nothing's seeming to quench my thirst (and it's not assisting the frequency of trips to the loo!)

Gingerandcocoa · 09/10/2013 18:22

Had my first GP appointment today. First question was "so you're pregnant?" and I had to think before answering yes!

bludger, I am a little overweight unfortunately (I think my BMI must be between 25.5 and 26 at the moment), and specifically asked about folic acid. My GP said that they would only recommend extra to people with BMI over 30...

wispa did you say you've booked into Lewisham? The GP said I basically have to choose between QE and Lewisham. I asked about St Thomas and was told they definitely wouldn't accept someone from SE10 (good for higher house prices, bad for childbirth!). So I said I prefer Lewisham, but the truth is I've had mixed reviews. What do you know about it there? I am reluctantly considering going private at St Thomas' but it's so expensive. More than 10k!!!

Gingerandcocoa · 09/10/2013 18:24

Can I ask a TMI question... Blush

... is anyone else having lots and lots of CM? I keep rushing to the toilet and it's just CM! Lots of it!

bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 18:36

Well, I'm a size 22/24 so well over and it was never mentioned.

bludgerwitch · 09/10/2013 18:36

Ginger I noticed that today, it's not every day but some days it can get quite, ahem, soggy.

carrie105 · 09/10/2013 18:38

Gingerandcocoa - I have had the same thing. I was at the cinema at the weekend and was sure something was wrong, made myself wait til the end of the film to pop to the toilets as told myself it was just CM, and it was!

I have actually been pleased about it as its the only proper symptom apart from fatigue I have had since my cramps eased off a few days ago.

Gingerandcocoa · 09/10/2013 18:41

I'm sure it won't make any difference :) It's funny how GPs all say different things.

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/10/2013 18:42

Gilly & Wispa, thanks for the info regarding dpo. I'm 26 dpo so might be tempted to test tomorrow.

Ginger, I'm the opposite! I have no cm whatsoever.

Bludger, my husband best friend is a consultant and he told me last night to increase my colic acid dosage to 5mg!!! That's 12 blooming pills I had to swallow just now. In my first pregnancy I was of similar BMI and just had pregnacare. Apparently there are new guidelines regarding this. Think he said it was the royal society of obstetrician & gyna?

PJen · 09/10/2013 19:34

We are so far having twins!! :) No wonder I got 3+ on digi when I was only 4 weeks pregnant!! I was told that I am rated as very high risk and may lose one or both but I am not going to listen to negativity and take it a day at a time. Yes, I understand that I may lose them and with my history my miscarriage risk is very very high (above 50%) but I want to smile today. :)

MS is starting. Since this is my second, my belly is back and I look as if I am 16-17 weeks pregnant. It will be difficult to hide this for long :)
I found my motion sickness wrist bands and they do magic on me. As soon as I wear them the nausea disappears. I know they don't work on everyone and for some they only cut the edge of ms but for me they were great during my first pregnancy (wore them religiously till 20 wks) and they work now.

Oh by the way, my due date is now updated to May 9th!! I know I have to join the May group (and I may in the future join them too) but I just got to know you girls so I hope you don't mind me staying around!! Here is the updated list:

Sheesh, I don't think I could be bothered! My mom is nagging me about the fact that I take folic acid at all, I wasn't going to bother taking any more after the first trimester!

I've just had a quick google and can't find any higher dosed pills so I wouldn't have to swallow a whole handful of the buggers!

CarrotCakeMuffins · 09/10/2013 19:43

Hello all, welcome to all the newbies in the last week.

I am now 5+2. I have an early scan arranged by my GP for 2 weeks time due to RMC. Fingers crossed for then. I'm seeing my GP again on Monday & he's also referring me back to a dr at the hospital who I saw as part of RMC tests & who wants to see me again if / when pg.

I am refusing to see a midwife until after my first (early) scan, so that I don't have to go through my history of previous mc unnecessarily. Fortunately my dr understands this. I'm not sure if I would be under the care of a mw or hospital anyway. Might find out next week.

Generally feeling very tired, sore boobs & a bit off colour, plus have had a cold which I think is now improving.

FX for everyone, and congratulations for Saturday Tanny.
