Covent good luck for the future lovely lady. I cried when I read your post, not from hormones but because I really feel for you.

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:13

Newbie here, I'm only 4+4 today!

I have questions! Sorry if they've all been asked in previous thread!

I don't feel different at all, did anyone else feel completely normal at this stage? I think my boobs might be a bit more sensitive than normal but I don't feel sick at all and I'm not more tired than normal, I feel like I should feel different!!

When you found out you were pg did you just call the doctors and make an appointment? This is what I've done but couldn't get an evening appointment for a couple of weeks so will be over 6 weeks by then, is this ok? I've been taking folic acid for weeks and have looked up what I'm not supposed to eat/drink/do etc!

I thought the first NHS scan was 12 weeks but some people seem to have it earlier/later, how is this decided? Do you get any say about when it is? Worried about people at work getting suspicious!

I think that's all for now, I'm sure there will be more though!

thistlelicker · 17/09/2013 20:16

Hi and welcome!!! I've had early scans because my first day of my last periods was 30th June. Plus I've been bleeding!!! Normally scans are 12 and 20 weeks

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/09/2013 20:18

Banana I think it depends where you live as to how your antenatal care starts up. I referred myself on line directly to maternity uniit at hospital.

Chip86 · 17/09/2013 20:19

Oh covent all the very best for the future I will be thinking of you Thanks
And yes the pain i was in prob was wind Blush from cake Smile

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/09/2013 20:20

Oops where are my manners forgot to say hi and welcome to the maybies Banana!

CoffeeGuzzler · 17/09/2013 20:23

Covent So so sorry for your loss. The very best wishes for the frozen embies.

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:24

Thank you for the welcomes!

I didn't say I was pg when making the doc appointment as it was on my lunchbreak and was worried about someone hearing! So if I turn up at 6+3 and tell the doc I'm pg do you think that will be ok?

Do you get any choice when midwife appointments and scans are? I don't want to have to take random mid week days off as I don't want people at work to be suspicious! I'm nearly 30 and got married this summer so already feel like people are waiting for an announcement! Probably just paranoid!

Chip86 · 17/09/2013 20:29

Welcome Banana and congratulations
Yes symptoms come and go as your body gets used to it then something will change and it will all come back you will worry when u have symptoms and when you dont its the only constant thing the worry
Your GP will tell you what to do dont worry
You only get early scans if you need or you pay i have had some as thought i had appendicits i was up duff and cyst had burst, the only other way is pay
Not sure what you do if work guess im going to tell work had boob job as they are massive hehehe not sure how that will explain away sickness not rembering stuff and falling asleep in big important meetings not looking forward to going back Smile

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/09/2013 20:29

Didn't waste any time banana Wink congratulations on both marriage and pregnancy!
We're doing it all the wrong way round, have two DD's 9 and 3 years, pregnant 4+5 and getting married in 2015.

NannyPlumForPM · 17/09/2013 20:30

A shrubbery! A shrubbery!!!

Welcome Banana !
If it makes you feel any better, I had absolutely no nauseas ms type symptoms in my first pregnancy - bar gaining 5 1/2 stone and very restless legs it went very smooth

Jodey I havent thought about parties etc. But I have told her there is a baby in mummy's tummy which she has decided is ALSO in her tummy! Just because she kept wanting to bounce on me and didn't know why she couldn't.

I have really got fx for your next two embies Covent - probably twins ;)

I've phoned up ready for my booking in appt now! FX for a happy healthy pregnancy - Am nervous as I have a genetic condition which means that if bean is a boy he has a 50% chance of mc depending on which chromosome i'm giving him Hmm

Good luck girlies!

Hi Banana,

Don't worry if you don't feel differently. We've got a real range of symptoms on this thread including quite a few people with no symptoms. Of the people who do have symptoms think that they start around 5 1/2 weeks or so anyway.

Re your docs appointment. I think that 6 weeks to see your doc is fine. Mine didn't really tell me anything apart from to take folic acid. The midwife generally doesn't see you til 8 weeks anyway so there should be loads of time for a referral to them.

Quite a few people on this thread has had scans. They are a selection of private scans paid for for reassurance, scans at the early pregnancy assessment unit which have followed pain or bleeding and people who for their own circumstances are having more monitoring than normal.

Usually your first NHS one will be around 12 weeks.

Forgotten who said they had more energy? I definitely do too. Not falling asleep in the afternoon has been so lovely this past week.

So nice to hear again from you Covent. Have everything crossed that your last 2 eggs will be sticky ones. Good luck with everything.

thistlelicker · 17/09/2013 20:33

At my gp the midwife is a Thursday! When I have a consultant appt it's on a certain day too which
Will be a Tuesday! But that's here !

Chip86 · 17/09/2013 20:33

Oh you could think of somthing fun like you also work for MI5 and have to go out when you have appointments Grin
Not helpfull sorry bord football on, im sure someone can think of somthing better Grin

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:35

Holy crap NannyPlumForPM 5 and a half stone! I'd be as wide as I am tall if that happened! Not far of it to start with Sad

mumof2aimingfor4 Yep no timewasting here! Feels a bit surreal it's happened already but I was wondering what I would entertain myself with when the wedding was over! Question answered!

NannyPlumForPM · 17/09/2013 20:37

I'm in the NHS so I'm gonna get me one of those 'disguise' glasses and nose things so am incognito?

DD is still insisting on putting football on so it lures DP back Chip - he's not even here and i'm suffering!

Can we have a little picket fence NannyPlum?

Banana on the side of this thread you will see some mumsnet links... Antenatal appointments, pregnancy week by week, do and donts, dating scans etc. etc.. they are super helpful. I am getting a reassurance scan at week 7 because I have lost a few in the past. Your first MW appointment should be at 10 weeks and be 1 hour long to gather all the info... so make sure you have an idea of how and where you are planning to give birth if you can, or MW will walk you through your options. Have a list of important family medical history, your medical history and any allergies you have etc. etc. ready.. I can never think when they aqsk me on the spot.
You will have your first scan at 12 weeks for dating, and a scan at 20 weeks... you can find out whether its a girl or a boy!!

My symptoms were coming and going... but now at 6weeks +1 day I am sick sick sick...... blergh..... my boobs are sore like they get when I come on my period.... don't worry though.. you have us girls now!!

NannyPlumForPM · 17/09/2013 20:38

Haha banana I know! I'm 5"1 hehe

But I was a very svelt 7 stone when I fell preggers so it sounds worse than it was - I'm a not-so-svelte 10 stone now so I can't do it again Grin

mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/09/2013 20:39

Banana, brilliant! That's my concern so we have already said we'll try for number 4 on honeymoon! Plus I had hoped to have all 4 before 30 but finances didnt allow it.

NannyPlumForPM · 17/09/2013 20:41

pfj -we shall place it here... beside this shrubbery! So we can have a two layer effect.... and then we can have a path down the middle - A Path! A Path!

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:41

I know the first scan is at 12 weeks, I don't think I'm explaining myself very well! How is the exact scan date decided? Do you get any say in it or are you just told when it is and that's that?

My mum always makes pregnancy and giving birth sound like a breeze, no morning sickness, easy to handle contractions etc..... but she is v keen on having grandchildren so I refuse to believe a word she says!

NannyPlumForPM · 17/09/2013 20:44

Banana they have so many to do, I think they just fit you in! I rang up today and she took details of my working hours and said she would try and fit it around those times but there was no guarantees!

OP posts:
mumof2aimingfor4 · 17/09/2013 20:45

Your mum may well have had it easy, I have so far why do you think I want four?! Im going to be a surrogate once ive finished having my babies.

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:47

NannyPlumForPM I wish I weighed anywhere near 10 stone! I'm 5'3 and 13 stone Angry Deffo better keep up the gym while pregnant, don't want it to get any worse!

people who have been pg before or who are further along than me... when did you start to put on weight during pregnancy?

BananaHammocks · 17/09/2013 20:49

mumof2aimingfor4 Well fingers crossed my mum is telling the truth and I take after her! Have your pregnancies and births all gone extremely well then?
