Ooh chip all sounds exciting Grin

Halfbaked · 21/09/2013 17:45

Hi all, I'm impressed some of you have already sorted names out. I'm going to find it difficult, our DD has an Irish name as DH has Irish family. However it was one of the only girls names I liked, is reasonably well known enough to be pronounced properly and works with our surname.

I've already vetoed DH choice for a boys name- Patrick and the other two I like Seamus and Finian are the names of my boss and my best friends son. I might have to take a trip to baby names to get some advice.

Have you all decided if you'll find out the gender? I was firmly in the not wanting to know last time, but this time we wonder if it would help DD get used to it? I really don't mind either way, but I did like the surprise.

Chip86 · 21/09/2013 17:46

Wow moomin that sounds like fun

randdom · 21/09/2013 18:12

I got my Positive test today. Have been trying for 7 months with one mc. So still very tentative as early early days. Provisional due date is the 29th of May

Chip86 · 21/09/2013 18:25

Welcome randdom and a massive congratulations what lovely news sorry to hear about mc, positive thoughts for this sticky bean Smile

Hendricks · 21/09/2013 18:36

Congratulations random - hope this nice's nice and sticky

Hendricks · 21/09/2013 18:46

I thought I was doing okay, but tiredness has suddenly overcome me - spent this afternoon asleep on the sofa whist DH took the children out and ended up going to bed over tea time yesterday I was that knackered. Go my scan date through, but I'm going to have to change it as it's at the same day and time as #2 starts at his funded nursery. Plus I'd be about 12+4, which if they have to repeat it to get a nuchal measurement is possibly cutting it a bit fine.

There's a group of us going over to a friend's house for some drinks tonight. I would do my best Blackadder "bring me my extra strong ale" trick, but I think that will last all of 5 minutes, before I have to come clean. I know saying I'm on antibioticis won't work (they've never known me go to see a GP in the 4 1/2 years we've known each other) and I don't think "I'm on codeine as I trapped a nerve this morning" will work either - seeing as I was at work teaching a bootcamp class. I don't mind them knowing though as they won't fuss - just think I'm even more mental than they did before Grin

Oh no!
5+3.
Wishful thinking much?

Halfbaked · 21/09/2013 19:32

chip Grin that made me laugh!

hendricks its always the refusal of booze that gives it away for me too. Wierd as I rarely drink, however I always have a glass or two at book club, so many eyebrows were raised last week, but no-one nosy brave enough to ask!

I checked out private scans today, but don't know if I can justify it. I am nervous as had a mc in May, but I am feeling more confident things will be ok this time. It's just waiting another 4 weeks or so.

We have our girls name sorted (I picked it when I was 9 - it's Irish too as I'm from across the water) but boys name are always so much harder. We sort of have one that my husband loves but I am changing my mind about it. The thing is I don't think it's worth arguing about now - but I can mull it over myself and 'we' can decide should we have a boy (we're not going to find out the sex in advance) otherwise it's a stupid conversation that could cause a row for no reason!

I spent this afternoon having lunch with an two old friend and a 10 week old baby - it was so good as I actually don't know any babies! The little man fell asleep in my arm until it hurt and then spit up on my 3 times - great practice! It was brilliant!

The only thing was that I accidentally ate some soft cheese that I'm sure was unpasteurised - it was melted on some bread and i didn't spot it until I had 2 slices! Felt pretty bad on way home but trying not to be preoccupied about it - people ate and drank worst things in the past and we're all still here.

bush we are due on the same date so I am even more glad to hear that you are pretty symptom free (my boobs stopped hurting the other day too)... hopefully the next few weeks will have more drama in store (but not too much!).

hendricks I probably gave it away at work yesterday when we had sushi delivered - I was first in and grabbed a piece of tuna roll and stuffed it in my greedy mouth before realised then turned and spat it on in my hand. I got VERY weird looks.

moominleigh94 · 21/09/2013 20:59

I just checked to see if my boobs were still tender... by punching one. Ow ow ow ow ow. They still hurt. A lot. And I think pregnancy brain has kicked in if I thought it was at all sensible to punch my boob.

AliOh · 21/09/2013 23:25

Well, had an interesting evening! Went with my mum to see the counterfeit stones, was good but stood in the rain for 5+ hours and now my back is killing! Anyway, was in such a rush to get out of the house before we went as we were late, I quickly said goodbye to DP and said I would see him when he finished work (can be as late as 12.30am). Only realised when my mum said she was ready to leave the gig that I hadn't even thought to take house keys with me - pure baby brain!! Didn't even cross my mind!! God help me if this lasts the whole pregnancy!

JodeyP · 22/09/2013 08:09

So sorry to hear that Allypallyjelly look after yourself, particularly over the next few weeks :-(

mumof2aimingfor4 · 22/09/2013 08:26

Good morning ladies, the sleepover has gone well they all stayed up till 12.45 (parents are probably going to hate me!) 3 of them managed to stay awake till 3am watching the smurfs with my OH in the kids play room! They all woke up at 7am wide awake asking when im going to do the birthday cake (I forgot yesterday!).

JodeyP · 22/09/2013 08:27

Welcome Randdom and congrats on you BFP xx

I didn't find out sex with DS1 and it was a lovely and overwhelming surprise. I had no idea what gender my baby was going to be. This time, I'm tempted to find out. My sister has 2 boys and I have 1. A girl would be amazing but I would equally love another boy. I'm tempted to find out so that it makes the transition from being a family of 3 to 4 smoother for DS1. But we shall see, still very early days.

As for names, we named DS1 after our favourite beach in Cornwall (Harlyn). This new Little Appleseed was conceived last month in France so I want to look at French inspired names. DH wants another Cornish beach name but so far I'm not convinced by his suggestions. We hardly agreed on any names last time.

5.7 so need to phone gp soon to get my initial appointment sorted. Now it time for a Brew Biscuit

JodeyP · 22/09/2013 08:28

Oh, and telling the in laws today over big family Sunday lunch! Eeek!

YikesHereWeGo · 22/09/2013 08:50

Morning all.
So sorry to hear ally's news. Sending you lots of love.
I've had a pretty emotional week myself. Had a mahoosive bleed (/"gush") on weds evening that lasted about 24 hours. Passed a few clots with bright red blood and assumed it was a miscarriage. Told work what had happened and took myself off the maybies stats thread to go and hide in a cave. But then yesterday my boobs were feeling tingly and looked enormous so I wondered if there was a slim chance I might still be pg. went for a scan and hey presto, baby was fine. Even measured 2 days further along than I thought it was. I do have an internal bleed but jt's outside the gestational sac. Means I'm slightly higher risk of having a miscarriage but I have my fingers crossed that the baby will be ok.
