I'm taking the whole year as well frizz. I have to hand my form in by the end of next week, but my boss is on leave and I can't get my head around it all so I've set up a meeting with HR on Friday. I think I accrue holiday whilst on mat leave, but policy here is that you have to take it in the same leave year. given that I'll be due back on 5th December, there aren't actually enough days left in the year for all my leave! I think I can take some as paid time during mat leave, but will have to check. Also found out that they don't like you working past 36 weeks without a doctor's note and me signing a disclaimer, so that's bought the date I go on leave forward by a week. Yay!
No sign of bubs moving this morning, so am having a cheeky cup of tea to see if I can wake her up. I may also have some sort of cake chaser when the cafe opens. I can't imagine why I've put on a stone already Grin

extracrunchy · 17/09/2013 09:09

Book according to this www.thebabycorner.com/tools/pregnancy/calculators/weightcalculator.php I'm right on track with about a stone of gain at 25 weeks! Reassuring!

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2013 09:34

extra good you're on target. I'm going to ignore my results from that though as it's telling me I've gained half a stone too much for 23 weeks! Sad I'm literally all bump and boobs though. And you can only tell I'm pg from looking at me from the side so the bump sticks out. I bought new underwear in my usual size at the weekend so I can't have piled on the pounds Sad

BookTart · 17/09/2013 09:35

Ooh, I like that link crunchy! According to that I'm at the bottom end of my acceptable weight gain. I'm off to have some extra toast then Grin

Solasum · 17/09/2013 10:20

A long shot, but I don't suppose anyone has excess vests they'd like to swap? After ebay-bundle-shopping, I have ended up with far too many in 0-3 size, all immaculate, mostly white, a few with stripes, stars etc, decent highstreet brands. Has anyone done the same with bigger (3-6, or 6-9) sizes? I am having a boy, so ideally not all pink, but otherwise anything goes...

(By vest I mean short sleeves and poppers between the legs, if this should eb called something else, sorry!)

Lalunya85 · 17/09/2013 11:28

Hi all - I'm joining you at the January 2014 for the first time - I had no idea this existed, how nice!

I have a question about the weight thing: I was 64kg before pg, then lost some weight (down to about 60kg until week 16) and am now on 62.5kg at 22weeks.

How should I calculate my weight gain? Have I lost 1.5kg (compared with pre-pg weight) or have I gained 2.5kg in the last 6 weeks (from my "lowest" weight after ms etc.)?

Any ideas?!

AnotherStitchInTime · 17/09/2013 11:54

Hi Lalunya and welcome :) Have a look here, I think you calculate from your starting weight at the beginning of pregnancy.

Got to pick up dd1 from school, back later to catch up

Frizz1986 · 17/09/2013 12:23

I haven't weighed myself for the past 3 weeks. I was a few lbs above what I should have been then but I don't look massive and am hoping that the mw will tell me if I've put on too much. I might even ask at my 25 week ap just in case. I think they get more concerned about baby being way too big or too small so as long as the bump measures ok. My sister had put on almost 4 stone by the time my nephew arrived and he was 5.5 weeks early. The mw never made any comments tho I just think she felt a bit sluggish and urgh because of the weight gain. I was def too skinny before tho as was 9st 11 but 5ft 8! So am hoping that means I can get away with a bit more weight gain Smile

Lalunya85 · 17/09/2013 12:24

Thanks AnotherStichInTime!

According to that calculation I should be around 13 pounds heavier to reach the minimum weight gain required. Is anyone else so much below the recommended weight gain? I'm not really worried as I'm eating well now and have started putting on some weight.

Oh well - I guess it leaves me with plenty of room to fatten up over the next four months! I've only stopped being sick about a month ago, so have only really been able to eat proper food since then.

MrsVDB · 17/09/2013 12:31

I asked the midwife about my weight at 16w as bmi was 34 at booking in and they said they don't even weigh people throughout any more and as long as its under 2-3 stone I shouldn't worry. She said there's only so much damage you can do in 6 months!!

But at 20w scan when lady was looking for sex she asked the other lady in the room if I was booked in for extra growth scans due to my bmi so I could find out then if not! Bloody rude!! No I am not!

alteredimages · 17/09/2013 12:37

ok ladies, just back from the midwife and i asked about leg cramps. she said that sometimes they can be a sign of magnesium deficiency and so gave me a prescription for magnesium supplements.

she also gave me an appointment with the dietician because i've gained too much weight. Blush i was actually a bit relieved because almost all the 8kg gain came during my first trimester self-medicating with crisps phase so if i stop eating crap now perhaps i'll manage not to gain too much more. i do look like an especially badly dressed whale in the midst of all the parisian women though.

my husband watnted to cry because i also have appointments with a cardiologist, two ultrasound appointments, an information session at the hospital and two midwife appointments all within the next month. this is without the three pages of blood and urine tests. he will have to accompany me to all of them because my french is crap! i think he's given up hope of finishing his PhD.

Lalunya85 · 17/09/2013 12:40

alteredimages - magnesium as well as potassium deficiency can be a cause for leg cramps (I used to get these all the time!). Try to eat lots of bananas! ;)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 17/09/2013 12:50

altered It's a well known fact that those skinny, perfectly dressed Parisian women are secretly deeply envious of us and wish they could eat crisps too, but they are too buttoned up to try. Grin

alteredimages · 17/09/2013 12:52

Thanks lalunya, i'll try and up my potassium intake too. i eat a lot of fish though, so i reckon it might have more to do with dehydration. I don't know if there's a link but i definitely should be drinking more water!

alteredimages · 17/09/2013 13:09

Grin humpty. you almost made me spit out my haribo.

i'm now into day two of my procrastination spree. should probably just do the cleaning. Sad

MrsGSR · 17/09/2013 13:29

Glad to hear your niece is still improving Sarah

I haven't weighed myself for a while, I'm a bit scared to! I've been eating mostly healthily so I'm just going to hope it's fine and stay ignorant for a while!

Sorry to hear of so many useless GPs. My GP surgery is spread out over 3 locations, my appointment Thursday is at one I've not been to before so I have no idea what to expect!

I hope your yoga has gone well nature and enjoying, I've been very lazy recently so I'm very impressed!

Welcome and congrats to those who've just joined :)

altered I've spent all morning procrastinating too! I need to do some revision this afternoon!

I'm still feeling a bit sorry for myself home alone, need to get over it soon!

MrsAVB · 17/09/2013 14:01

lalunya I am 8lbs under my minimum weight gain by that calculator. Am not worried though, I think it's different for everyone, and like you I lost a fair bit with sickness in the first 12 weeks, but have gained steadily since then. And am still being sick and still on meds, ho hum!

Lalunya85 · 17/09/2013 14:35

MrsAVB - how far along are you? Sorry to hear you are still being sick - I hope it will be over for you soon! My sickness stopped/eased off around 16 weeks and is almost gone now. No more vomming at least, only certain smells still make me feel a little nauseous but nothing compared to the first four months. They were absolute hell!

Swannykazoo · 17/09/2013 14:42

Room for another? Budge up! Smile
Due 4th jan. Thought I'd dipped my toe in the water yesterday but must have stuffed up posting. All new at both mumsnet and the actual having a baby bit.
So far have been lurking but MN has saved me regarding hyperemesis (just presumed morning sickness meant not being able to keep water down until I looked at the threads here and was sick cos the morning sickness thread descibed people eating actual food)
I'm in the "painting the nursery cream" / find out on the day what flavour of baby group. Do we have a name?
Good luck to all you house movers - I'll be moving at 32 weeks and bit concerned my dh still counts me as work force rather than decorative accessory Wink

Spacefrog35 · 17/09/2013 16:44

Hi puggle
I think those of us who aren't sure if we're 'pink and fluffy' or 'blue & pee in the eye' are team yellow Smile

Love the idea of a decorative accessory, just wrap yourself in bubble wrap and write fragile across your forehead Wink

Sultanajo · 17/09/2013 17:31

Welcome lalunya & Puggle! Grin

According to that weight calculator I am at the top of the range of where I should be....Blush Must get swimming more!

Absolutely cream crackered today - no time to even think or pee at work today and feel as though I am rapidly dehydrating after a day forgetting to drink! Just trying to psych myself up to go out in the rain to get some apples to snack on.....come on sultana - you can do it!!!

Frizz1986 · 17/09/2013 18:07

I think i am about 4lbs over what i should be Blush
I havent been exercising Blush
And although i have eaten healthy teas i have snacked badly Blush
I also dont think i have eaten as much fruit/veg as i should be or enough fish ... double Blush

Oh well. Like some of you said there is only so much damage i can do in 9 months and i dont feel huge yet so....

Welcome to the newbies. Have some Cake so i dont feel like so much of a pig.
On the up side i do remember to take my pregnancy vitamins everyday so hopefully bubs is getting what it needs.

MrsAVB · 17/09/2013 18:29

I am very bad at taking my vits sultana. But fairly good at eating Cake.
lalunya, I'm 24+6.
Welcome to team yellow puggle!
X

MrsAVB · 17/09/2013 18:30

Oops frizz to sultana!

Sultanajo · 17/09/2013 18:35

frizz I have my moments of being angelic and my moments of being very naughty. Clearly the naughty moments are currently outweighing my angelic moments! It would be much easier if food came in a tablet! Grin

I must not make Toby's brownies because I know I would eat the lot!!!

I am just getting to the point where my bump is starting to affect me being able to get in and out of the car easily. I am just having to be a bit careful I dont hit it on the steering wheel on my way in and out! I am quite short so the seat is quite close to the wheel... Also tried to lean over to pick something up off the passenger floor and gave up as I couldnt breathe and bump was in the way....time to realise I cant do everything I could pre preggers me thinks! Can only imagine what it will be like in 14 weeks! Hmm
