Thanks another.

humpty - you love it more than life itself and it didnt have ears? Shock Thought of you when I saw "ear" outfits in mothercare the other day. Also saw the cutest hooded towel with bunny ears on it! Cant remember where I saw it now...

mrsa how unbelievably frustrating!! I have actually only just now considered the fact that DH and I havent yet discussed how things are gonna work financially when am off on mat leave from "our" viewpoint, so no its not just your DH. My DH is last minute Joe though, so thats why. I like to plan ahead... It really sounds as though your employers are a bunch of cuntpuffins! You are doing them a real favour apart from anything else by trying to get everything clarified asap, so how dare they make you feel like that? Angry Poor you - big hugs! Fuckwits!

Toothfairy78 · 30/09/2013 22:49

Oh dear mrsA your employers sound crap.

Can't believe how crap some places are. My HR person is a bit useless partly cos there's been umpteen restructurings and cos she has to look after 7 sites. So she was unable to give me the name of the person to contact for my mat leave letter and told me to stick it in the internal post addressed to the responsible department and it should get there.

Pregnant colleague still hasn't had a response to her mat leave letter after 7 weeks.

After having to chase my GP for my MAT B1 I'm beginning to wonder if nobody's ever been pregnant before!

There's some serious arse elbow issues out there!

Frizz1986 · 01/10/2013 08:03

mrsa that sucks beyond anything. Employers can be shocking.

We don't really have a hr dept at work just some dude in accounts who interviews people and sorts pay. Don't think he really knows that much about mat leave so i want to try and go to our meeting (whenever we have it) fully prepared knowing exactly what i am entitled to then i will push for it.
Technically they only have another 2 weeks until they confirm my mat dates in writing but i don't expect that to happen at all. God they haven't even begun to start thinking about my leave and my boss is still in denial that I am pregnant. (This massive bump is getting to be a giveaway tho)

tooth i sometimes wonder if no one has ever been pregnant before too. Everything seems to be so complicated and you cant get a solid factual bit of information anywhere. Everything all seems to be do this at this point but if you cant try this and blah blah blah.

Thanks for the good luck wishes for dh too Smile Trying to be positive and hope that all works out. At least he has an interview so early into the new school term so hopefully that will fill him with confidence.

Well ladies, I win Hmm

At 3:15 this morning after a 3.5 minute active labour my beautiful 1lb 8 oz son was born. He's tiny but fighting & mummy & daddy are confused as fuck! ( apologies for the language but I hope I can be pardoned that one.

I'll keep you all updated when I can but obviously my priority is my little fighter right now.

Best of luck everyone & .....squeeze but not to hard please, don't want anyone else popping early

Thanks
TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2013 08:38

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 08:40

Do good fighting, little boy!

MrsGSR · 01/10/2013 08:43

extracrunchy · 01/10/2013 08:46

MrsAVB · 01/10/2013 09:08

Oh my, huge congrats mr and mrs space! Lots of love, hugs and prayers for all of you xxx

MrsAVB · 01/10/2013 09:09

anyone else TOTALLY FREAKING OUT now?

BookTart · 01/10/2013 09:09

What a bunch of mofos mrsA! Harness your pregnaRAGE and go in and shout at them :)

Fingers crossed for your dh's interview frizz.

Still hardly any kicks or movement here. I think she's just lazy like her mother The midwife said maybe she just won't move a lot, but it is freaking me out a bit. If I didn't have my doppler I'd be really worried I think.

I have begun a spreadsheet Grin. I will need to buy 5 things a week until 40 weeks to have all of the things I need. Let the spending begin!

BookTart · 01/10/2013 09:12

Oh no - crossposted!

Space congratulations! 1lb 8 is a good weight isn't it? I'm thinking of you all, and sending fighty vibes to your little boy :)

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 09:15

Bloody hell, book! 5 things a week for the next 3 months? What are you buying?!

MrsAVB · 01/10/2013 09:16

Ps... Thanks everyone for listening to my self indulgent rant yesterday. I was only saying this weekend that the pregnahormonal- crazy emotions hadn't kicked in yet but I think they've definitely arrived now...
It's small fry compared to some discrimination you hear about but it still pisses me off...
Although space's news puts everything into perspective!

MrsVDB · 01/10/2013 09:21

Oh my goodness!! Congratulations space what a shock! 3.5 minutes?? Wow! When you get more time can you tell us about it please? Wow again!!

Spacefrog35 · 01/10/2013 09:22

Thanks guys, don't stress because of me. I've got it out of the way for you all so you lot can have lovely stress free full terms now, ok? Deal Grin

BookTart · 01/10/2013 09:25

It is a detailed spreadsheet toby Grin Boring stuff like maternity pads and Lanisoh is on it as well as stuff for the baby, but at the moment she's only got a hat that makes her a bear, a sleepsuit that makes her Superman, and some pink stuff my mum bought so she's a bit short of things. I'll be hitting up the NCT sale on Saturday hopefully, so will get some bits second hand.

You weren't being self-indulgent mrsA, they are being weasels. Shout at them :)

space, are you doing okay? I forgot to ask, sorry. The shock must be immense, and I can't imagine how crazy it all is for you Thanks

Spacefrog35 · 01/10/2013 09:40

I've actually got a bit of time at the mo. Little one is one his way to an awesome neonatal unit with a view of the sea & DH has popped home to get me some clothes. Sorry if TMI.

Basically as you know I had a bleed last week , all checked, no dramas, sent home. Got home from work at 8pm yesterday ( normal time) went to loo, and felt something 'pop' & fresh blood again. Not loads and no pain at all but something felt wrong. Up to hospital baby heartbeat ok, me no pain so back of the queue!

Get checked by a doctor at about midnight. Odd cramp but honestly thought it was wind Blush. Doctor Doesn't say anything just goes to get senior. I spend the intervening 2 minutes bawling.

Senior comes in has a look says I'm 6 cm dilated (still no pain) and they transfer me into the labour ward.

At about 2:45 I start to feel like I really need to pee but I try (bedpan) and I can't. Feel really really uncomfortable, not pain just 'wrong'. Stand up and waters go. Everywhere! I looked like I'd peed myself twice Blush

At this point all hell breaks loose. I have a scan and they tell me I have to have a catheter put in to empty my bladder ( didn't really know why and this oddly wS what scared me most! Found out after that full bladder wS only thing keeping baby in!).

They do the catheter & give me has and air ( again uncomfortable having a catheter not painful) Three contractions, one push and my little boy was here! Placenta delivered about 15 mins later. Oh & he's that tiny he came out bum first no problem!

I can honestly say at no point was the pain such I couldn't cope. I can see how the pain gets tiring but first time mums who are worried they won't know what to do - you don't have to 'know' something else takes over and your body just 'does' what it supposed to do.

Now just trying to get my head round the fact that I'm someone's mummy!

If anyone has questions shout, I'll try to answer but obviously I'm not exactly 'typical'!

MrsVDB · 01/10/2013 09:46

Wow space thank you for explaining it all. Must of been such a shock. It must be so exciting but scary at the same time. I'd like a labour like yours please (but not until the new year hopefully!).

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 09:47

Wow, space. Have they given you much info on how he's doing?

Book, I might give the NCT sale a look on Saturday too. See you there!

BookTart · 01/10/2013 09:48

Space that's amazing - thank goodness you were in the hospital and they didn't send you home again! I'm so glad you're both doing okay this morning x

TobyLerone · 01/10/2013 09:52

Has he got a name yet, space?

MrsGSR · 01/10/2013 10:07

Thanks for taking the time to write all that space the neonatal unit sounds nice :)

Sultanajo · 01/10/2013 10:12

Thanks for explaining everything and so glad they didnt send you home again! Phew!

You are a mummy! Grin
