HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/09/2013 17:48

tooth I've been considering them - where did you get yours? There's so much choice that I've sort of retreated from making a decision! Do you have to go up a shoe size with yours?

Toothfairy78 · 24/09/2013 18:39

Well my favourite pair (apart from my custom ones) are half length ones from FootMedics. I got them from amazon

www.amazon.co.uk/Footmedics-Slimline-Foot-Orthotic-Medium/dp/B001CVLBYA

I use them everyday in my workshoes (Clarks and Geox). If you're not used to orthotics don't go up a size cos the arch will be very high.

Orthaheels are readily available from Boots and the arch on those is a bit lower.

They take a couple of weeks to break in by the way and you'll be using different muscles, so takes getting used to!

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 19:30

Well toby its only 20 mins from where we live so he thinks its a waste of money staying over. He doesnt like staying in hotels in general whereas I love a bit of pampering!,Grin

Know what you mean about the OJ and heartburn! Gutting isnt it!

Good news is work have finally sorted who will be covering my mat leave, so I can start planning training. The bad news is it was handled very badly and one unsuccessful applicant is very upset which could have been avoided! Doesnt make me wanna go back after mat leave....

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 19:35

mrsa so sorry about your UTI and stupid thrush!,Really hope its under control and no need for hospital! Sad

humpty thanks for the pelvic floor entry! Started doing them as soon as I saw your post! Grin No, DH definitely not trying to put me off the scent of any secret plans unfortunately....we will still have a good time, but would have been nice to chill out for two days instead of one....

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 19:43

frizz you have done better than I have setting up a phone reminder! I really should do too!

another you have been going thru it and how unfortunate about your anniversary date....hope things perk up! Thanks

Today made our first second hand purchases - a graco baby bouncer for £8, two 0-3 month jumpers and a 3-6 month old bathrobe. They were all bargains from DHs work colleagues. Feeling less guilty about the brand new bits I have bought now....Grin

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 19:50

humpty I am still just about getting away with my flip flops....not sure what I am gonna do when its too cold and wet to wear them....OMG! I hadnt even thought about it....

Swannykazoo · 24/09/2013 19:53

Had my first "is there only one in there?" comment today.Angry It was the first bloody time I'd worn a non-concealing dress to work too!
So was thinking of having stupid remark bingo to distract myself from the rage - the other ones that came to mind are:
Twins?
You must be nearly due?
Any news (from relatives around due date)

Perhaps its an unwritten rule you have to reach a certain number of stupid remarks before labour starts....What else shall I add to my list?

MrsGSR · 24/09/2013 20:22

I think you should add
"your bump is really small" as it seems most people get told they're huge and tiny at least once! My SIL told me I'm not showing as much as she'd expected which cheered me up as I feel huge!

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 20:28

Oh puggle that must have knocked your confidence on a self conscious day....

Hmmmm....so far I havent had any silly comments I dont think, although I have had the "you are looking well" comment which I know really means "wow, you are piling on the pounds". Grrrr! Angry

Swannykazoo · 24/09/2013 20:31

I was at least cheered up by being asked "have you lost weight?" later today (Though I was sitting down at the time so bump was hidden behind the desk)
People are funny buggers aren't they?

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 20:44

Well thats a turn up for the books! Grin What I have hated in the past is people saying "you have lost weight havent u?" when you havent. It makes me think "how big did you think I was before to think I have lost weight now?" Blush

Swannykazoo · 24/09/2013 21:12

I know what you mean sultana - unless there's a good reason like not being in baggy unflattering uniform/scrubs for once or breaking out the "nice" clothes...Blush

Sultanajo · 24/09/2013 21:38

I know! It tends to be people I havent seen in a while....ironically when I did lose a ton of weight for my wedding last year those people didnt comment on the weight loss - the time when I was craving people telling me how good I looked! Wink

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 24/09/2013 22:19

Thanks tooth and another I shall do some investigations and hopefully have pain free feet!

puggle and MrsG I've had 'you are looking well', and 'you don't have much of a bump' so far. I also think we could add 'when are you due' (although that's not stupid, so much as the one thing I get asked almost daily) and 'what are you having' (clue: a baby).

sultana the very few times people have said I've lost weight has always been when I've weighed the absolute most Grin.
For a while, when I was fifteen, my favourite person in the world was the mad old granny on my French exchange (extended family holiday), who told me I was 'too thin' (I was a ripe size 14 at age fifteen). I properly luffed her.

Frizz1986 · 25/09/2013 08:34

People seem to say I have a small bump but I think its pretty massive! Am not sure how much is baby though after all the snacking I have done. Oops!

Got my 25 week midwife app today Smile
As dh still doesn't have a job he wants to come with me too which is really nice. He seems to get more interested in this whole pregnancy lark the further we go. I told him it would be pretty boring as I don't think they really do much but he seemed keen. Forgot to pee in my pot this morning though so am going to have to pee in it at work. This should be fun.

Got my new maternity dress on for work today and it is so nice. Its just comfy not having anything round the bump. Its a red butterfly one from new look and has a band under the bust to tie and then just flows out. Its a bit thin material wise but I wear a vest top and tights underneath so its fine and it is winter so not really any sunshine to shine through it.

Sultanajo · 25/09/2013 09:13

Humpty you and me both! That's when I think "how fat did you think I was as this is the biggest I have ever been, so if you think I have lost weight now that's a tad worrying"! Blush Loving the mad granny! Grin

Frizz the dress sounds awesome! Comfort all the way!!! By the end of the day I am desperate to get everything off my bump as it suddenly gets unbearably itchy!

Great your DH wants to come to your midwife appointment. DH came with me to one and he just sat there the whole time without saying anything and looked really bored. However, when my next appointment was due he said he would come with me again. I actually put him off because ultimately all they were gonna do was check my pee and check for a heartbeat....I couldn't bear him sitting there looking bored again! Wink However, if he wants to come to the appointments 35 weeks + then that's fine because they will potentially be more interesting for him.... Hope your DH finds it useful!

fryingpantoface · 25/09/2013 14:17

Today I was told I was "blooming" which was nice. I was wearing a nice mat dress from Next and it suited me :)

Sultanajo · 25/09/2013 14:39

Yay frying! Grin That must have been lovely to hear!

I think you are ALL blooming today and look fabulous, walking around proudly with gorgeous variable sized bumps!!!

Lalunya85 · 25/09/2013 14:56

sultanajo What a lovely thing to say!! Grin

I was just getting into one of my I-wish-I-looked-pregnant moods, but after I read your post decided to not even go there. Not now anyway...

That said, I've been eating LOADS recently. Loads of the good stuff, followed by quite a bit of the chocolate-variety-stuff. Maybe that will give me a bump! Maybe it means baby is having a growth surge or something...

MrsAVB · 25/09/2013 16:25

I agree sultana, we are all looking damn fine today!
On a clothes note, has anyone found any nice going out type tops? I have a swanky do to attend this week and need a nice top I can wear with black skinnies. Preferably from a shop as not much time to order online!
PS am not in hospital - dr decided that vomming was preggo vomming not uti gone to kidneys. Thanks for you kind words though!
X

MrsGSR · 25/09/2013 16:41

Glad your not in hospital MrsA, hope you feel better soon!

I've been feeling down the last few days but am feeling better today :) I've been very productive and done a food shop for a posh 3 course meal I'm planning on making when DH comes home friday :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 25/09/2013 17:44

I agree with sultana, we are all BLOOMING today. I just know it.

lalunya I know that feeling - in certain clothes, I still get it. Haven't really 'popped out', and sometimes don't feel preggo at all.

MrsA so glad you're not in hospital, phew! I have a (second hand) Mamas and Papas silky top, and an H&M Mama one, again 2nd hand. I think M&P are good for going out stuff generally - quite fashionable stuff. Also ASOS do superfast delivery?

MrsG sorry you've been feeling down, but well done on the shopping/menu planning!

Having a crappy day today - have already cried twice in the loos at work, and have had to do a couple of meetings and a tour of the Archive whilst wanting to just lock myself away and have a good weep. Bleurgh.

Sultanajo · 25/09/2013 18:28

Lalunya how far along are you now? Your bump will come - I promise! I am making sure the tops I wear are tight fitting so you can see it's a bump! If I wear anything remotely baggy I just look frumpy! Blush

MrsA phew for not being hospitalised! Grin I bought quite a nice black top with sparkly bits on it from H & M - only £12. It won't last more than a few washes, but am not bothered - as long as it gets me through what I need it to!

MrsG so sorry you have been feeling down! Glad you are feeling more perky today and your dinner plan for DH sounds fab! What are you making she asks drooling in anticipation ?

Oh no Humpty! Stupid shitty sucky work! Massive hugs and chocolates for you! I will say to you what my DH said to me yesterday evening after my similar day of tears of despair "only a couple more months and then you are outta there!" Grin That's the ONLY thing getting me through at the moment.... You aren't planning on going back are you? Cake Brew

Naturegirl82 · 25/09/2013 18:44

I've been told multiple times now my bump is big for how far along I am, swiftly followed by them saying but its a neat bump though! Hmm

Work is odd at the moment due to redundancies so bit of a strange atmosphere Sad

Hope everyone is feeling better and have cheered up. Smile

I'm baking for a friends Macmillan coffee afternoon tonight. Decided to make lemon meringue pie cupcakes. New recipe so hoping they work ok.

Angelesque · 25/09/2013 19:16

I got told I suddenly looked very pregnant today... Oh, and that my bump is massive for five months, so it must be a boy... Suddenly I'm public property it seems! Sigh.
