Mmm nature lemon meringue pie cupcakes, sounds lush!

My male boss at work asked me the other day if I had hit the glowing stage of pregnancy yet, I was like errr you tell me!

The nursery worker saidnto me today when picking dd up ' god your really huge now aren't you'
Then she said she thinks the black top I had on made me look bigger. Today is rhe smallest I had felt in weeks when I looked in the mirror this morning. Haha.dammit!

mrsg thats so nice of you, I may steal your idea and do that for dh when he gets home ( whenever that may be).

extracrunchy · 25/09/2013 21:00

I get it every time I pick DS up from nursery! "Wow you're bigger every day - how long is it now?" And then huge shocked face. Ffs. My mum is also convinced I'm at least 2 weeks ahead of dates, despite scans. Grr.

I did just make those sweet potato brownies again though...

Angelesque · 25/09/2013 21:01

sarahleanne I was wearing a nice black top today too - one I thought was really flattering!

Might just not leave the house for the next four months...

Toothfairy78 · 25/09/2013 21:09

Good evening!

Sounds like the public are opening their traps before engaging brains!

We assembled the nursery furniture today. And after much huffing puffing and cursing, installed my bargainous elephant blind that I made from a cheapo B&Q blackout blind, fabric and some ribbon I had knocking about. Window looks a bit plain so will have a think about embellishments later.

The shelves we were painting were a FAIL though, so we went and got some conti board cut for us and will shape and edge those tomorrow.

I even had time to bake a loaf in my slow cooker...fun experiment, not bad for a first go! Have got both my slow cookers running for dinner tonight. One with stew, the other with rice pud. Not bad for a holiday. Tooth Jr's been keeping quite busy too.

And tomorrow there will be even more baking ready for Macmillan Coffee Morning at work!

Frizz1986 · 25/09/2013 21:16

nature yum to cupcakes. I made some lemon meringue ones for the MIL's work for her anniversary. I loved using my blow torch on the Italian meringue. Am sure that they will turn out fab and for such a good cause.

I really want to have a cupcake business and would love to practice big cakes too but just can't afford the ingredients atm and what with the pregnancy I have just felt tired and it doesn't seem the right time. Would love to get back to it after bubs arrives and my friend said I should take samples to some local shops to see if they would sell them. Could just do batches of 12 so not too much work. Am not very business minded tho so it all sounds a little scary. Her mum owns a cake shop tho that does wedding cakes and she said her mum would happily give me an hour or so to learn some bits which is nice.

Midwife went well, but really wanted to get the bump measured and they didn't. Got to hear the heartbeat again which was nice and Dh liked that. Think he was a bit bored but liked being a part of it.

Dh has got a supply job for tomorrow Smile It's only for the day but he was told that there might be a longer term supply opportunity for the right person so got my fingers crossed. He got turned down for an interview somewhere else as well but they put in their letter that there will be another permanent job coming up in the next few days if he wanted to apply which is good too. This one was a biology one and he is more chemistry based so it was a long shot anyway so don't think he was too cut about.

Please keep your fingers crossed for him!!

angel im glad im not the only one :) im sure black was supposed to be slimming haha

As much as I moan though I did miss my bump a bit when it was gone with both my dcs. Mainly because it was replaced with a bag of saggy fat though lol . Ooooh the joys.

Spacefrog35 · 25/09/2013 21:30

Bit of an up and down day today. Been having some brown mucus discharge for a couple of weeks. Midwife wasn't too worried as I had bleeding in first trimester so thought it was just 'remanents' but then woke up this morning with bleeding :(
Spent all day in hospital being observed, midwifed and doctors were all lovely and pootle seems fine :) thought I was going to have to stay in overnight bit then got told I could come home, yay! All was lovely until the senior doctor told me the reason I could go home was that as pootle wasn't really viable yet there was no point in me staying in as if anything did happen they wouldn't be able to do much. What a cuntpuffin.
Angry

Still at least pootle is kicking me silly and the bleeding has stopped Smile

You're all making me feel very inadequate with your lovely cooking / decorating and shopping bits, but at least I have lots of lovely ideas now!

MrsGSR · 25/09/2013 21:36

Lots of productive days, and thoughtless comments!

frizz good luck to your DH for tomorrow, is all sounding very positive :) I love baking but I'm only brave enough to share with my family! I have already planned babys 1st birthday cake though...

sultana I'm making homemade mushroom ravioli in a white sauce, banoffee pie and maybe prawn cocktail. Somehow in my head the prawn cocktail doesn't go with the rest but the only other starter I can think of is stuffed mushrooms which might be too mushroomy (he doesn't really like soup :()

Angelesque · 25/09/2013 21:43

Space so glad bubs is okay, stupid doctor making that comment!

chocoloulou33 · 25/09/2013 21:53

Hope ur ok now spacefrog cuntpuffin dr indeed grrrr.
How us everyone? Just trying to have a catch up. Busy week for me. Work is manic but maternity leave has finally been confirmed and my leaving date is 15th nov yeyyyyyyyyyy. Excited much. Think im only gonna have the 9 months off but gonna worry about that nearer the time. Meanwhile backache is still beyond all evil. Only advice im getting is out wheat pack on it. Wow thanks. Got midwife next week but so pissed off with it all as am now on to my 3rd midwife as others have moved to different area. Have trouble getting a decent appointment time each time too. Anyone else have same probs or is it just my area in kent?
I need to get motivated around the house now. Start making some room for baby. Only got a 3 bed house though with dd and dsd here full time and dss weekends we dont have awful lot of room. Will be a squash and a squeeze! Got a big job ofbgetting down all dd's clothes toys and basically everything from the loft down to see what can be used for little man. Am sure i had mainly neutral for first 6 months so all should be ok. Where is it all gonna go though. Dont even have a spare drawer let alone wardrobe, eek lots of sorting to do. Xx

Toothfairy78 · 25/09/2013 22:00

Good luck to DH of frizz! It may be a days work, but it's an opportunity to get his name known too.

FX for him!

sarahleanne · 25/09/2013 22:17

spacefrog poor you. Glad all is ok now though. How many weeks are you? and when on earth are our pregnancies viable then. A lot of doctors have no tact.

sarahleanne · 25/09/2013 22:21

Just googled, apparently 24 weeks is classed as just about viable

Frizz1986 · 25/09/2013 22:25

space how scary. Glad all seems ok now and the bleeding has stopped. Some people seem to get bleeding all the way through and be ok.

I thought when you got to 24 weeks there was a huge increase in survival rates and then it rockets up again at 27 weeks. Well i think thats what i read.

mrsg sounds delish. How about stuffed beef tomatoes?? Thats if u dont want prawn cocktail (which would be yum)

OP posts:
Spacefrog35 · 25/09/2013 22:27

Thanks all. Yeah 24 is what I'd read too & I'm 23 +4!

All seems cool, looking back I think I was just a bit shocked that she ( yes, it was a lady) could be so insensitive! Just happy to be home to be honest.

frizz fingers crossed for DH

choco first time I read your post I thought you were looking for a spare drawer to put the baby in Confused made me giggle.

Frizz1986 · 25/09/2013 22:28

Just found this on tommys website:

"Research conducted in 1995 on babies born before 27 weeks of gestation in the UK and Ireland (the EPICure study) showed that only 7 percent of those born at 22 weeks survived, 42 percent of those born at 24 weeks survived and 78 percent of those born at 26 weeks survived "

Sorry haven't caught up, stinking cold and brain function minimal.

Just wanted to say space try not to worry, my niece had bleeding throughout her pregnancy and had her daughter at 35 weeks in the end. Just take it easy, no heavy lifting or running for buses. I am banned from penetrative sex due to risk of bleeding from major placenta praevia. Insensitive twat of a doctor, she could have handled that better Angry

sarahleanne · 25/09/2013 22:39

Its amazing the difference a couple of weeks can make ( looking at those stats). Just goes to show how hard our bodies are working to grow the little beans :)

MrsAVB · 25/09/2013 22:47

Ooh tooth tell me more about your blind! I've been looking round for different blackout options, the ones in the baby shops are stupidly expensive.
space hope you're doing ok and manage to get some sleep and rest tonight. Stupid dr, what am idiot thing to say, why say anything if you're going to say something like that!
Thanks for the tops advice ladies, I've bought a couple of non- mat tops from primarni as it was the only option by the time I got to the shops; haven't had a chance to try them on but am hoping something will fit.
choco yippee for mat leave! I have a feeling I am going to be very jealous of those of you finishing work before me!

MrsAVB · 25/09/2013 22:48

And 1995 is aaaages ago, the odds must be even better now! Yippee for viable beans! But please stay in a bit longer little ones!

Toothfairy78 · 25/09/2013 23:33

I don't understand why boring items which have 'baby' or 'nursery' on them are so much more pricey. It's the same with wedding stuff too!

So, the blind... I got a plain cream blackout roller blind from B&Q (£12) and stitched a border on at the bottom (just above the channel that holds the plastic weight/strip). Border was made of a band of brown/grey trouser fabric onto which I stitched 2 bits of green grosgrain ribbon from Wilkos gift wrap section (£1 for 3m) to make horizontal stripes above and below my elephants. The line of elephants are a strip of fabric from John Lewis, which was £14 per metre, I bought half a metre and intend to use the rest to accent any other generic items I get for the nursery.

So I probably spent £20 in total plus some time stitching.

I think Argos do coloured blackout blinds for roughly £12 too. Just keep a look out for scraps of fabric and ribbon for purposes of pimping up!

bymoonlight · 25/09/2013 23:50

Hi, sorry to jump in but I thought someone might have or had similar. I'm 22 wks pg and in between my legs feels very bruised.

Its hurts to lift or separate my legs.

I have done a lot of walking to day whilst pushing 2yo dd2 in the buggy.

Does anyone else have this?

I really hope its not the start of SPD Sad

MrsGSR · 26/09/2013 00:02

Flowers I didn't see your post spacefrog, I'm glad your home now and getting lots of reassuring kicks! My SIL is another one who had bad bleeding in the second trimester, she's due in a few weeks and its all looking good :)

I didn't think of beef tomatoes, thanks for the suggestion :) is made me think of stuffed peppers too... I'm going to have to take another trip to asda!

I'm mostly wearing cheap primark tops, there really stretchy so I've bought a few a size bigger and live in them!

MrsGSR · 26/09/2013 00:05

Sorry bymoonlight I haven't had anything like that yet, but then I've been quite lazy recently! I have just started using the exercise bike and my muscles seem a lot more sore than they usually are so it could be that? I'm sure others on here are much wiser!

extracrunchy · 26/09/2013 01:14

Space - scary day for you! Glad baby's busy though and sure all's well.

Frizz - sounds v positive! Fingers crossed.

Bymoonlight - sounds like mild SPD, try a heat pack between your legs and don't open them further than you have to.

Ugh can't sleep...
