Hi Toby - it's my first. Glad to hear I'm not the only one then! ;) pre-pregnancy I was 64kg at 170cm (I think that's about 10 stone at 5.5), and I do a lot of different sports so have quite an athletic figure. Not skinny though!

Mrs VDB - I suppose they're not made of glass. And perhaps we just need to trust our bodies that they won't go into a sleep position that would be harmful to the baby!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/09/2013 14:49

toby well done you - can I come over please? I love soup and bread and I am a talented baby cuddler? Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/09/2013 14:50

I meant to post that AGES ago. Bloody work, stopping me MNing. Grin

Naturegirl82 · 19/09/2013 14:55

Oh humpty pesky work hey! I usual mn in my team call but I have to take minutes this week. Sad

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 15:04

The baby has gone, sadly. He made me get DS's guitar out, forced me to make him a paper boat, watched me blend soup and demanded a banana he didn't touch. Cuddles weren't on the agenda :o

The soup is slightly too spicy (I roasted a chilli in with the tomatoes and forgot to take it out before I blended everything!), so it'll be heartburn central later. Bread looks good, though. We'll expect you at 7 :o

Sultanajo · 19/09/2013 16:43

Lalunya my Mum was the same weight when I was born as she was pre-pregnancy and no one knew she was preggers! She didn't buy any maternity clothes at all. I haven't followed suit however and bump is properly out there. Everyone is definitely different and if all was well at 20 weeks I wouldn't stress, plus your midwife will check you again at your next check up....

My midwife also said not to stress about sleeping positions, although that hasn't stopped me like the paranoid fool that I am! Wink

My seatbelt things that a couple of you (mind gone totally blank) recommended has already arrived from Kiddicare! Only ordered it yesterday! How good is that??? Will try it out tomorrow....

Right, break over - only 3 hours to go.....yawn!

Sultanajo · 19/09/2013 16:45

Meant to say Toby I am well impressed with your "I can't be arsed but gonna do it anyway" attitude today! Good luck with the heartburn in a bowl, but you can feel really good that you made it yourself!!! I LOVE homemade bread! Can't beat it! I made some pitta bread the other day and had it with humous and it was lush!!!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/09/2013 16:54

toby Grin I'll bring the Gaviscon.

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 17:04

You made pitta bread?! That's always been on my list of 'things Sainsbury's do perfectly well', along with crumpets (actually Warburtons), egg custard tarts and bagels. Was it hard to make? Was it nicer than the bought stuff?

The pesto/sundried tomato bread is amazing, btw. I just cut the end off to test it, and it worked really well, for an experiment. So at least we won't starve if the soup is inedible :o

Hope your last 3 hours go quickly, Sultana!

MrsAVB · 19/09/2013 17:29

Thanks for the responses re. BHs guys. I had an informal meeting weeks back so am now at the stage where, because of no mat policy I have written a long letter asking for confirmation of XYZ in writing.
The BH thing is difficult because all my contract says is 23days annual leave. No mention of BHs in it or any policy. And 23 days is below stat minimum 28 days... And in practice I and everyone else get all the BHs on top of this. The letter's with them; I'm just still unsure where I stand when they respond if they say I don't get them paid or time back in lieu as this seems unfair...
How very very boring. toby may I have some soup please?

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 17:39
enjoyingscience · 19/09/2013 17:47

hello all! Toby, soup and bread sound amazing. Well done on the pitta bread sultana - I'm weirdly scared of making bread, and am always impressed by people who aren't!

The person we offered my mat leave post to has turned it down. I feel all affronted that they don't want my lovely job! The second in line better want it, or we're fucked. I'll have to do it with a baby on boob Grin

I have no idea what happens with holidays here - I know I had a crazy amount of days accrued when I came back last time, so I can only assume they add them on top? I'm hoping that's the case as I'd like to phase back in on full pay using annual leave (i.e. work two or three days and take two or three days leave a week for the first month or two).

Re sleeping and bumps, I agree that your body tells you what the 'wrong' position is - you feel faint and crap pretty quickly if you are lying the wrong way. Babies are incredibly hardy - it's us that suffer. Your small bump is probably just testament to your having good abs Envy, keeping baby nicely tucked up inside!

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 17:54

My mum was a baker when I was a kid. I've made more bread/cakes/pies than Paul Hollywood :o

BookTart · 19/09/2013 18:09

Any spare bread toby send it over here! I'm all about the carbs, me :)

In case anyone didn't get the email, there is a preview of the Mothercare baby/child clothes sale today. Lots of the bits I want are already sold out, but might be worth a look www.mothercare.com/clothing-sale-preview/clothing_sale_preview,default,sc.html?start=0&sz=12&view=grid

Naturegirl82 · 19/09/2013 18:40

MrsAVB the minimum leave per year is 28 days so if you are taking a full year you will accrue 28 days regardless of their stance on Bh. Smile

Toothfairy78 · 19/09/2013 18:58

Ooh sounds like there's some domestic goddess stuff going on tonight.

Today we had some development on the mr mardy pants situation. Not the result I was hoping for which involved moving his desk to a shipping container at the far end of the car park! Anyway dept head had a long chat with him last night and it seems had to explain that what he said in the first place was patronising and condescending and that was why I snapped at him. Then he had to explain the importance of considering what the other person is going through and the emotions they are experiencing before saying stuff. He also explained why stonewalling/ignoring people is unacceptable and that this can cause a toxic atmosphere in the office. And what a toxic atmosphere means...

This is in addition to what a mutual friend had said to him too! Said friend let me know he had no concept of this! It appears he had no idea of what he did wrong or even that he did something wrong! He was so shocked and outraged by what he'd been told that friend was worried he would do something today.

So dept head pulled us into his office and gave a headmasters style talk and we all smiled and agreed to act like it never happened!

Am bloody looking forward to maternity leave, he may be deficient but he's still annoying!

Angelesque · 19/09/2013 19:30

Might be weeks behind everyone else but going to share any way... Just went to Aldi's baby event (think it started today) and got a Slumberdown maternity/nursing pillow for £9.99. I'm sitting on the sofa using it behind my back and I want to weep at how joyful it has made sitting on the sofa. No more back ache!

It's the little things, right? :)

Sultanajo · 19/09/2013 19:59

Toby it was possibly the easiest bread I have ever made and it tasted sooooo much better than the shop bought stuff. I find the shop bought stuff can be pretty dry, whereas this was just blissful! May make some at the weekend to go with the beef brisket left overs. What I like is you only prove it once and then it bakes in seconds!

MrsA I really hope the holidays get sorted for you! Who knew it was soooo complicated going on mat leave???

Enjoying that's a complete fucker your first choice turned it down! I am concerned that although there are two applicants for my post, they may change their mind and we will be fooked too!

Tooth I guess at least your feelings have been aired, even if they haven't installed an ejector seat for the cockwomble!

Angel it really IS the little things! That's fab you have found some relief in a comfy pillow! Pillows really are the best!

MrsGSR · 19/09/2013 22:31

I'll be poping into Aldi tomorrow then, thanksangel!

The doctor did a quick urine test this morning and said he's pretty sure the antibiotics did work, which is great except it means the back ache is just my bad back so there's no easy fixes! I am very relieved the infections gone though.

chocoloulou33 · 19/09/2013 22:36

Hello I went all quiet again after saying inwas back lol. Well I do have a good excuse. Spent mon in hospital. Had a stomach bug and got rly poorly so they took me in where I spent the day on a drip and basically was sick all day and they wouldnt let me into their toilet so had to go on a commode or whatever they call it. Oh the humiliation lol. Am ok ish now and went back to work 2day as we had ofsted in. Wonderful! Roll on the weekend thats what i say. Oh and thanks ladies for your rage stories yesterday. They did make me giggle xx

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 22:42

I've never found a Paul Hollywood recipe which worked, sultana, but seeing as you've managed to make it work for you I'm willing to try...

Poor loulou :( that sounds horrid. Glad you're feeling a bit better Flowers

TobyLerone · 19/09/2013 22:43

Oh, and yay/boo, MrsG!

Penny31 · 19/09/2013 22:45

chocoloulou33 · 19/09/2013 22:59
