PLEASE RAIN..........I can't take it much more....ggrrrrrrrr

pol26 · 25/07/2006 20:17

How many pregnant women are praying for SNOW???
I know I am one...
It has been another hot one and yes, I too lie down for a nap and sweat gathers in every crevice... Absolutely fed up of it... and cannot bear it if it lasts til September!!!

Had a nice relaxing day tho... as relaxing as it can get with a nearly 2yr old!

Hope baby Jacob is doing well and hope all other bubbas are cooking nicely.

compo · 25/07/2006 20:19

Another one melting here! I feel so sorry for ds because I can't bear to go out for long and we're all so grumpy with the heat too!

Hello,

Congratulations Lysettes! and I hope everyone else is ok in the heat.
Am suffering in heat here too but checked 5 day forecast and it looks like rain and thunder for rest of week!
Had midwife appointment yesterday and my iron levels have dropped a lot so might have to take iron pills so ate steak last night and roast beef sandwich today and nettle tea which is meant to have iron in it - hope it works.

Angeliz · 25/07/2006 20:23

Myrtle, i have started taking 'Spatone'.
It's fab and i'm sure is giving me energy. (could be psychological but hey, whatever).
My iron levels were 103 and don't know what they are now but it's not tto low.

What are yours?

Here are my gorgeous girls btw waiting for their Nana today.
MyGirls

Angeliz · 25/07/2006 20:23

Also eat your meals with orange juice as it helps the body to absorb the iron.

Marls001 · 25/07/2006 20:24

Hi all - Just finished a VERY unhealthy lunch of mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, yogurt with strawberries, strawberry ice cream and 2 coconut fruit bars, M&Ms & peach gummy candy!!

Saw the Dr. this morning & not dilated at all yet, slightly anemic, and actually feeling more energetic than last time I saw him. He asked when I would be going back to the gym (he's become all for it) and I said was headed there afterward. Had a good workout. Guess was feeling a bit too healthy, so had to eat accordingly.

Still trying to work out plane schedules .. wish we knew when this boy was coming!

Coriander73 · 25/07/2006 20:54

Spatone is fab!!!

Myrtle1 · 25/07/2006 21:49

Angeliz, I think my midwife said my iron level had dropped to 9.25 from 12.7, if that makes sense.
Is Spatone the name of the iron pills the doctor puts you on or is it a different brand I can get myself? I'd heard iron pills were huge which worried me as I have enough trouble just swallowing a little painkiller!
BTW, the pic of your girls is gorgeous!

Coriander73 · 26/07/2006 09:14

Mrytle, Spatone is water from the Welsh valleys naturally laden with iron! It comes in sachets & whilst pg it's recommended that you take up to two sachets mixed with a glass of orange juice every day. It's been a great help to me & crucially doesn't make you constipated unlike those blasted iron pills!!!! You can buy it at all good health food stores

I believe you are anaemic if you iron count drops below 11.1 - anthing above that is fine.

It's another 30+ day here in Suffolk...we've got 26c already & it's only 9.15am....& I forgot my desk fan.....grrrrrr

clairemow · 26/07/2006 09:26

Still a stinking hot morning here in the west too. Poor DS last night was so hot he was rubbing sweat out of his eyes in his sleep - we kept going in and sponging him down with a damp flannel. Anyone got any other ideas to keep the little ones cooler at night? We did debate opening the door and putting a stair gate up so he couldn't escape and fall downstairs, but decided that sleep might not result... And a fan won't work, he keeps getting up and turning it on/off/on/off. Too entertaining!!

Lysettes, hope you're getting on well, and Jacob isn't suffering too much with the heat?

mabel1973 · 26/07/2006 09:49

Hi all
it rained here last night and is a bit fresher this morning and they have promised thunder storms so praying for rain. Po - yes am DREAMING of snow! I even started shopping for a new pair of winter boots on the net yesterday, can't wait to wear jeans, boots and jumpers!
I ordered my tens machine yesterday, it comes 3 weeks before my due date,so hope I last that long!
Well had a trauma yesterday afternoon a friend the the little boy she nannies for came over to play and DS had been grumpy all day but put it down to the heat, but after about an hour playing he just dissolved in to inconsolable tears, which rapidly turned in to drowsiness and convulsions. I was in an absolute panic. He was burning up and just coudn't keep his eyes open. Managed to get him in to the doctors fairly uickly and he's got tonsilitis! Poor little man. He seems ok today I just need to keep his temp under control with calpol and nurofen.
DH has only just returned to work after having shingles - just one thing after another and to top it all one of our cats has gone AWOL..

muminaquandary · 26/07/2006 10:00

oh poor you mabel hope he gets better and the weather is fresher for you!

Angeliz your dds are adorable, hope they had a good time at the beach.

Mabel I hope your ds is well soon, poor thing I really sympathise having had tonsillis on and off for twenty odd years ( removed two years ago).

Coriander73 · 26/07/2006 10:44

OMG...another arrival !!
HK..congratulations......do let us know how everything is when you get a chance. Big kiss to your little girl.....hope she's doing really well

mabel1973 · 26/07/2006 11:16

just clicked on BBC weather - it has changed from half an hour ago (where it said thunder storms today and rain tommmrow) to more sunshinein the next 5 days ....sigh...

Bella23 · 26/07/2006 11:23

WOW another birth - Congrats Hellkat.
Can't wait to hear all the details.
Mabel - poor little one, being ill on top of this heat is not great news! Bless well hopefully he has peaked and now will recover quickly.
As for your puss.......I have 2 which normally get locked in for the night but because of extreme temp I have let them stay out all night and am always relieved every morning to see them safe and sound.
Hopefully yours has just got side tracked somewhere. Ask your neighbours to check their sheds / garages as one of ours went AWOL once and he had been nosey in someone's garage and then got locked in by accident.
Let me know when he turns up ..........xx

Well just had a massage (i found a place on the web that come to your house) and it was total bliss!! Feel like a lot of my aches and pains have vanished.
If anyone is in the London Area I would thoroughly recommend it

Well no bloody rain here!!!...........still really hot and according to GMTV this morning its set to contunue for another 3 weeks..........I may have killed someone by then!!

compo · 26/07/2006 12:02

Sorry to hear about ds Mabel - that must have been so scary but glad you've got a diagnosis quickly.
Well thunder woke me up at 6am and we did have rain but it had all gone by 8.30am and now it's back to being hot as it ever was.... grrr.....

Hey everyone

Well done Hellkat on your bubba arriving so soon... we aren't even in September yet!!! Hope that you're both doing great.

Saw the mw today- what use it was... bp high, swelling high and generally run down- well, you're telling me nothing new there! She said with my back and pelvic pain 'it will pass' JOY!!! Yes... probably will once the bubba has decided to pop out but that could be in 8-10 weeks time depending on whether i'm on time or overdue... (or early ) She did ask if I had any questions... none, unless she can magically change the weather to COLD as it is still so bloody hot.

Also at 3:30am some one was banging on our front door!!!??? Firstly I thought I was dreaming but then I realised someone was knocking and by the time I had hauled myself up to the window- covering myself on the way they had gone... Had me awake for nearly two hours wondering who it was and i'm still none the wiser...

Angeliz · 26/07/2006 14:47

mabel hope your ds is feeling better today.

Wow another one. HellKat Huge congratualtions to you and your family

Hope little one is doing well and home soon+

Woodelf · 26/07/2006 15:37

Congrats Hellkat! Hope you are both keeping well - great idea to get your DH to post.

Hugs to you and lo!

homemama · 26/07/2006 19:35

Just a quickie to say a huge congratulations to HK and family! Glad to hear you and baby are doing well.

Mabel, hope your DS is better soon. I think you were very calm in just taking him to the docs. If my DS had suddenly developed such unexplained symptoms I'd have had him straight to A&E and I'm not the sort of mum who takes him to the dr or every little cold. (He's been twice in his life). The worry is definately the worse thing about parenthood.

I heard someone say today that they'd heard a Met Office guy on tv today saying the heat could well last until September although it may cool a couple of degrees in August! I truly, honestly felt like crying when I heard this!

*Sorry, not such a quickie!

pol26 · 26/07/2006 19:59

Hey ladies

The evening standard said that August would be hotter Roll on me popping, but not before he is 5lbs and can feed well...
