Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Smitten1981 · 09/09/2013 11:48

I think I might just take my 14 days before the due date now, I know that you're all right and my company are wrong. I'm not losing those days.

Thanks for the help ladies! I'll be starting mat leave on 3 October in that case. I'm still gonna hold them to working from home from 23 Sept though - ha ha!

roofio87 · 09/09/2013 12:02

I've done all my chores for the day, been food shopping, cleaned the whole of upstairs, hoovered the whole house, change bedding and put away dry washing and wash and hang up another load!! now what do I do?!? happy to not be in work, but not sure how to fill the next 4 weeks!! (in not longer!!)

cazboldy · 09/09/2013 12:05

just back from mw. Everything all seems fine, but she has sent off my urine sample just in case. She thinks that i just need a rest, and it's my body's way of making me!

Am seeing her again on Thurs in any case.

just not good at feeling ill!

JellyCurls · 09/09/2013 12:34

Another night of strong tightenings, pressure and pains like baby trying to claw itself out and a runny bum but still here with a big bump this morning. Took a long walk down harbour this morning with DS after dropping DD at school. DS had great fun looking at all the boats and sans but was much more interested in a man with a fluffy dog. Truly fed up but have to think that meeting baby is a maximum of 5 weeks away at 42 weeks

Hope everyone else having a lovely day today

thethreeblondies · 09/09/2013 12:36

First full day on my own (DD2 went full time this morning Sad ) trying to get motivated re housework but enjoying taking it a bit easy!

Saw mw on sat, everything was ok, bump measuring little bit larger than should be according to the graph but we'll see how it is in a couple of weeks. Mw also picked up some leukocytes in my urine but as I peed on her stick not in a pot I've had to drop a sample in to gp.

FeministInTraining · 09/09/2013 12:49

Glad you got some reassurance Caz please try to slow down a bit!!

Jelly I hope you don't have to wait too long and that baby is nearly cooked and ready! Were you overdue with DS or DD I can't remember anything sorry! Grin @ DS and fluffy dog!

Roofio I can relate! Done 4 loads of washing, waiting for last one so I can take stuff to laundrette to dry... Washed up and filed away some letters. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself though, think I'll have another cup of tea while I watch Loose Women! Sorry to those still at work, I still have work to do though- and it's stuff I should have done over the summer hols so I'm not being paid to 'work from home' even though I am Hmm

DP told his year 8 form class that he's having a baby and they were all really excited and gave him a round of applause. With my hormones, I may have burst into tears if I was there!

Clapham I totally get the way something not really tear worthy can turn into a whole host of other things that you don't usually think about. Mine started with someone saying they couldn't come to lunch on my last day at work (ended up ordering pizza which was nicer anyway) then someone who had been banging on about letting them contribute to baby stuff and me being too proud not doing what they said they would. Turned into me sobbing on DP about 'life' and then sobbing some more because I sounded ungrateful.

Hi Chickieno1 and Heffa - I'm being induced tomorrow but it may end up a cs if I don't progress - thanks for your best wishes.

Kelly - I spontaneously delivered my DS at 34+4. He weighed 2kg - 4.4lbs and spent 2 weeks in NICU. His initial issues were his breathing as he didn't have a chance to get those maturing steroids in him before and an infection which I kindly gave him by inconsiderately also having a UTI at the same time I delivered.Smile

This only took about 5 days to get sorted - the rest of the time he spent in NICU was to do with temperature regulation and establishing tube feeding. He really couldn't seem to get a handle on the whole breast feeding thing and so we planned on taking home with a tube till the day before we went home - he finally figured out that he had to suck the giant nipple I kept putting in his mouth - and then we could go home and he didn't let go of that nipple for the next 20 months - lol!

The staff in the NICU were the best - they are reassuring and helpful - ensuring lots of kangaroo care (skin to skin contact - with both Mum and Dad), teaching you how to express, explaining all the jargon, teaching you tube feeding and using medical equipment, making sure you're eating and drinking properly - so awesome.. I hope this puts your mind at ease about the NICU experience.

roofio87 · 09/09/2013 13:21

just found a tape measure so decided to measure my boobs (as you do!! and remembering to shut the curtains whilst I did!!) I measured 32 1/2 inchs underneath and 40 in round my boobs so bra guru puts me at about a 32 ff. definitley never worn a bra that big. very interesting. going to go to get measured and have a look at nursing bras at bravissimo next week. I have a very low bump and don't think my rib size has changed that much in pg so hopefully can get fitted for one to keep me going at first until my milk comes in and I have a better idea of my size!!

FeministInTraining · 09/09/2013 13:28

Roofio we are boob twins Blush
I checked as I'm wearing that size already and I clearly have too much time on my hands. The only thing I would say is that although there is a bit of a gap between my boobs and bump, it's not that big so I'm finding a 32 is digging in the gap a bit. Although that might be because I'm wearing wires Hmm back extenders are the best invention ever, about a pound on ebay including delivery! Means I can still wear a 32 and stop using the extenders as soon as bump drops or baby comes and I can breathe easier!

roofio87 · 09/09/2013 13:37

yeah I'm hoping that once baby is here a 32 will be perfect as I'll probably be a bit smaller than I am now but not much I think. my boobs got bigger in very early pg but seem to have deflated a bit now so very hard to tell how big they will get when my milk comes in!! will see what the measurer at bravissimo says then will go on a mission to try and actually find some nursing bras in that size!!

FeministInTraining · 09/09/2013 13:46

Good plan, just don't go into bravissimo asking to be 'measured'! The fitter will fit you in specific bras that may or may not be the same size depending on the shape of the bra, your boobs and the way the brand fits. Sorry, you probably know all this. I've been indoctrinated by my mother, she takes her job very seriously. Luckily we have resident bra evangelist MoN on the thread or she may have butted in on conversations- I'm sure she's reading along, bit of a MN regular!

roofio87 · 09/09/2013 13:49

no that's intersting feminist, I'm definitely hoping to find something in there to be properly fitted in. will just be interesting to see what size they get me into in there!!

Flyer747 · 09/09/2013 13:50

Roofio I went into bravissimo in town the lady was so helpful and lovely, she has 2 little girls and we were talking about bumps, boobs, genders etc, I forget her name though.

She didn't measure me just looked at my boobs asked what size I was currently wearing and we went from there. She told me to go back at 37 weeks as my bump is really high, we are talking boobs resting on the bump so my rib cage has increased quite a lot from pre pregnancy.

I highly recommend her she was so sweet and I never felt pressured into buying a bra "Just for the sake of it"

Smile
Flyer747 · 09/09/2013 14:05

My current craving is Dandelion & Burdock, a bit random hey! Never used to be interested in fizzy drinks but craved them loads in the pregnancy.

roofio87 · 09/09/2013 14:06

thanks flyer, that's good to know. I'm planning on going end of this week/beginning of next so will 37 weeks by then so hopefully about right! hopefully will get the same nice lady!

Flyer747 · 09/09/2013 14:09

Just looked in my handbag Roofio as I remember she gave me her card. Her name is Paula.

TheFalconsmistress · 09/09/2013 14:14

Hi everyone not checked thread just back from hospital I am in early labour started contracting when i was on ctg yesterday so they kept me in but nothing has really progressed in 24 hours and they have become irregular so I am home thank god! She is well engaged thats all thats changed really. They are very sore now so i hope it does not last for days/weeks and I "go" tonight or tomorrow. Will update as soon as anything changes!

Racheld33 · 09/09/2013 14:18

chickieno1 definitely still fine to go to the dentist for a clean as long as you're feeling comfortable enough to lie flat in the chair (and put up with the treatment!)

All this bra talk is making me feel like I need to go get measured. Got some lovely ones a couple of months a go which fitted so well, now digging in like mad. Might get my tape measure out this afternoon!

HeffalumpTheFlump · 09/09/2013 14:19

Sorry skull that was me that got that all confused! Good luck with the induction, I really hope it works for you. So exciting!

Cravings! I couldn't live without lift instant lemon tea, reduced sweetness. I was craving sour at the beginning and would have 6 teaspoons of the stuff to make it sour enough. Running out was not an option at all and I was going through 3 or more jars of it a week. All my cravings died off in the second tri though so nothing now!

Racheld33 · 09/09/2013 14:19

Wow falcon, good luck! Xxxx

favellio · 09/09/2013 14:21

First day of maternity leave and I'm bored already lol baby's due a month today. I'm taking the first 3 weeks as annual leave, then start mat leave on 30th sept.
I'm desperately trying not to get all my jobs done today lol 36wk scan in the morning, then off for a haircut!
Good luck to all those thread mummies and babies that are imminent this week GrinGrinGrinGrin

claphammama · 09/09/2013 14:21

Flyer747 · 09/09/2013 14:27

Wowsers Falcon, exciting stuff good luck chick hopefully come this time tomorrow you'll be holding baby willow in your arms Smile

I've started my maternity leave today, 2 weeks earlier than I intended I just couldn't face another 2 weeks! Still in my bath robe Shock must get dressed.

Omg Heffa I used to love lemon tea (minus sugar though) might have to go and buy some.

HeffalumpTheFlump · 09/09/2013 14:27

falcon good luck!!!!

SeriousStuff · 09/09/2013 14:28

Good luck Falcon! How exciting!!!!

I'm so fed up today. Had about 1.5 hours' sleep last night and I'm struggling to get work done, or care today! Trying to work out if I can afford to finish work 2 weeks before due date, but would mean losing out on about £2k!!
