Fingers crossed for you Lyra. I know that panicky feeling well!
As far as pain relief goes, the only reason I would try to avoid an epidural is being less active and things slowing down. My first was breech so planned section (and i had aleady had 2 spinals that pregnancy for surgery on my broken ankle -fun!). My second was attempted vbac which was helped along with induction after my waters had gone but contractions being very mild. I was very glad to have the epidural once the drugs made the contractions ramp up. Dds heartrate wasn't great though so still ended up with a section (by this time I had been in hospital 3 nights!) So although I would love my vba2c this time, ultimately I know it doesn't matter which exit they take.
slippers glad to have recommendation for the 100 year old man. Last month my group read the unlikely pilgrimages of Harold Fry which was nice but not amazing and I feel like this might be similar.
cool that is fab about your dad. Be glad it is a male relative - all the female extras seem to have their boobs out!
