Sounds like a plan to me April Smile I've spent the last 5 years working in pain, so def think whatever takes the edge off is right!

Joll I have days like that. Again, I found peppermint tea to help. I also sleep propped up if I'm feeling like it. Miserable isn't it.

Jolleigh · 26/08/2013 22:47

Owl - if you ever find a cure, please let me know! It doesn't even sound like a real complaint considering I'm talking in a thread rife with morning sickness. I just feel sluggish when I'm like this and I'd half prefer to just chuck it up so I didn't feel so heavy. It's nearly 11 at night and there's food in my throat from 5pm Sad

Jolleigh · 26/08/2013 22:51

NoMaybe - I have trouble sleeping in any position that isn't on my front (which I'm sure will be hell when I'm enormous) so even though I've been propped up for 2 hours, food won't go down and sleep won't come.

I've run out of peppermint tea...is the mint that grows in the garden the same kind? I have a bunch in the freezer.

Beccadugs · 26/08/2013 23:36

Yes Jol it is (and much nicer) whack about ten leaves in a mug. ( or teapot if your feeling v posh) and steep until nice green colour. Utterly delish.

Can't sleep here as have dreadful left sided pain (6 weeks now, docs etc v unconcerned) also am ridiculously nervous about scan tomorrow even though had one less than a week ago...

LyraSilvertongue · 26/08/2013 23:52

I've had mild cramps on and off all evening and when I went to the loo just now there was a fair amount of blood when I wiped. Trying hard not to panic Sad

Jolleigh · 27/08/2013 00:06

Lyra - stay calm for the time being. I'm sure that's easier said than done admittedly. I'm sure you already know to call the midwife first thing.

Did you have your scan yet? If so, did they see any cysts?

My thoughts are with you hun. xx

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 00:52

No cysts but they found three fibroids that I didn't know I had. Maybe that's caused it. Or sex.

Similar happened about a month or so ago but without the cramps.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 01:21

According to Dr Google, fibroids can cause abdominal pain and light bleeding which shouldn't affect the baby. I feel reassured by this. I wish the sonographer who found the fibroids (I had no idea I had them) had warned me that this could happen or if she didn't know should have directed me to someone who would. I did ask and she said they wouldn't cause problems because of their position.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 01:24

Also explains the weird lumpiness I've been feeling in my abdomen. One of them is about 4cmx4cm and is outside the uterus on the left, which is where I've felt the weird lump.

MummyPig24 · 27/08/2013 02:16

Hope all is ok lyra.

5am thank you for the info about the NT test. My aunt and uncle were expecting a baby about 4 years ago, 12 week scan normal, 20 week scan they find out baby has Edwards syndrome and they decide to terminate. So sad, but it does make me think about having all the tests vs not having any. They have a lovely 2.5yr old boy now so a happy ending to a sad story.

Coolhand · 27/08/2013 06:50

Oh Lyra hope it's nothing serious. Thinking of you - hope they'll scan you quickly for reassurance.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/08/2013 06:53

Hope everything is ok Lyra and that the bleeding has stopped. Pesky fibroids x

Teddybear4 · 27/08/2013 07:30

Just marking my spot as on holibobs and very little bandwidth to read or post on here or FB. Will catch up when we get back. Teds x

firsttimekat · 27/08/2013 07:38

Lyra thinking of you hope all turns out ok.

I'm in a similar position pain and some blood when wiping. Went to AE yesterday but they wouldn't scan me, so off to EPU this morning to find out what's going on. I'm 11 weeks and really thought I was getting to the safe time Hmm.

Rockchick1984 · 27/08/2013 08:10

Hope you're both ok Lyra and Kat, please keep us all updated with how you get on Thanks What time's your appt Kat?

fruitpastille · 27/08/2013 08:27

Fingers crossed for you Lyra. I know that panicky feeling well!

As far as pain relief goes, the only reason I would try to avoid an epidural is being less active and things slowing down. My first was breech so planned section (and i had aleady had 2 spinals that pregnancy for surgery on my broken ankle -fun!). My second was attempted vbac which was helped along with induction after my waters had gone but contractions being very mild. I was very glad to have the epidural once the drugs made the contractions ramp up. Dds heartrate wasn't great though so still ended up with a section (by this time I had been in hospital 3 nights!) So although I would love my vba2c this time, ultimately I know it doesn't matter which exit they take.

slippers glad to have recommendation for the 100 year old man. Last month my group read the unlikely pilgrimages of Harold Fry which was nice but not amazing and I feel like this might be similar.

cool that is fab about your dad. Be glad it is a male relative - all the female extras seem to have their boobs out!

Rockchick1984 · 27/08/2013 08:38

Just felt first baby flutters!! Grin Grin Grin

PiratesMam · 27/08/2013 08:45

Rock how exciting! Grin

fruit how did you break your ankle? That sounds like an eventful pregnancy to say the least!

Lyra and Kat I hope the bleeding has stopped, keep us updated x

Well after 3 days of meds I am feeling much more human. DH on the other hand is a broken man after 3 straight days of solitary childcare. In a way I'm pleased because at least now he knows what it's like for me in the week!! He has been a diamond though.

Have good days all x

OwlinaTree · 27/08/2013 08:57

Hope it goes OK today Lyra and Kat fx for you. Glad you are feeling better pirates.

Rock how exciting! I am jealous.

Me n Mr owl started discussing names last night. He kept saying 'what about ...?' I'm saying ' so and so's daughter called that'. What's the etiquette regarding using a name a friend has used?

Slippersandacuppa · 27/08/2013 09:07

Rock woo hoo!!

Lyra and Kat good luck today, fingers very crossed it's nothing.

Fruitpastille I've read Harold too and much preferred the window-hopping old man. I sort of enjoyed Harold but it was sooo sloooow with not a huge amount going on (I know that was the point but reading time is so precious, the book either needs to be slow and amazing or have loads going on in my humble opinion). Happy reading!

PiratesMam · 27/08/2013 09:11

Oooh I think it's Lumpy for a dating scan today isn't it? Good luck to the Lumpster if so!

Owl I think it depends how close you are, although I wouldn't mind even if one of my bezzies had a kid the same name as one of mine. A friend asked if it was ok to name her son the same as mine and I said of course, was quite flattered she thought it was a nice name too in fact! Thought it was sweet of her to ask though.

PiratesMam · 27/08/2013 09:17

Oh no my mistake its Beccadugs today!

MummyPig24 · 27/08/2013 09:40

Good luck to those having scans today, for whatever reason, I hope they all go well.

I feel so sick right now and I'm off to the farm park all day with 4 children. Bleurgh!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 09:59

Well there's been no more blood this morning, which is positive Smile Looks like it was just the fibroids causing me grief. In the mornings I can feel one of them just below the skin. It's hard as rock, like a golf ball. So weird. This morning it was above my belly button. Surely my uterus can't be that high yet?
My friend is on her way round with the Doppler (took her a while to find it on the loft) so if I can find a heartbeat today and there's no more bleeding, I'll just keep an eye on things and proceed as normal.

Good luck Kat. Hope you get scanned.

Rock, so exciting isn't it? Remind me I said that when my ribs are being stretched painfully outwards and the baby is dancing on my bladder in a few months' time Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 27/08/2013 10:01

Oh and good luck scanees. Report back ASAP please.

Have fun, mummy. You've just reminded me that I meant to take my boys to the farm sometime this summer. It had a makeover in the spring and is supposed to be really good. Hope it's not too pricey.
