Well, here's hoping!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bearfrills · 26/08/2013 22:16

I found with DD (my second) that I was bigger sooner but by around 20wks it kind of evened out and I ended up smaller than my bump had been with DS by the end

tinypolkadot · 26/08/2013 22:17

Just checking in, had dm to stay this weekend and I am knackered! Constant headache and general feeling of wanting my house back. Now I feel guilty for being a misery, even though I've probably not been that bad. Always end up with the guilt for one thing or another!

I'm sharing in the sleep discomfort. Sick of my side already, and deffo can't sleep facing dh either, poor thing. I'm sure it won't be long before separate beds beckons! Sad

Think I've been feeling movements, but not sure.

CubanoHabana · 26/08/2013 22:27

Well I had my first bump rub yesterday... Irritating me already! Not a big bump by any means and didn't have particularly bumpy clothes on. Mil walked into restaurant and came straight over, no hello, nothing but a pat and a rub! How am I gonna feel when it's more noticeable?

For second + time mums, did this happen to you a lot?

Bearfrills · 26/08/2013 22:34

Cubano yes

A nurse at work rubbed my bump last week but I was sitting down at my desk at the time and had my zip undone so I could breathe and she felt rather low down so it turned into a rather awkward "why are you trying to rub my knickers?" situation.

When big with DD and DS I quite quickly figured out who the belly rubbers were and I made sure to always have a barrier in place when seeing them. A handbag clutched in front of me, my own hands on my bump, a jacket over my arm and over my bump, that sort of thing. For strangers (who I didn't care about offending), a quick hands-palm-out in front of my bump and a "please don't" was enough to fend off unwanted attention.

Timpani · 26/08/2013 22:35

Yes it did! Loads and loads!

I have had one already and I cateorically did not have a bump at the time and barely do now (though it's poking out more now). It got really annoying!

17+2

Bearfrills · 26/08/2013 22:35

Just thought I'd point out, my zip was undone but I had a longish top on so no one could actually see it was undone. I don't regularly flash my underwear at work.

CubanoHabana · 26/08/2013 22:42

Aw bear that just made me chuckle, cue odd looks from oh!

gnittinggnome · 26/08/2013 22:44

bear haha, I'm sure none of us were thinking that. Honest. Smile

I'm thinking of investing in a fly-whisk to swish at unwanted hands. So far only the odious FIL, but I'm feeling so vulnerable now I'm beginning to look pregnant, rather than just fat!

gnittinggnome · 26/08/2013 22:44

and 18 weeks today!

vix206 · 27/08/2013 06:44

My bump is huge and I've had 4 belly rubs so far. Makes me cringe every single time!!

Thisisfreakingmeout · 27/08/2013 08:03

I'm on two so far. Both were family, both were without any warning.
What ami supposed to do while it goes on? Grin inanely?

17+3

212VIP · 27/08/2013 08:12

Is there a way we could share bump pics? Might make me feel better to see that I'm not such a moose as I think any bigger than other people...?

misskatamari · 27/08/2013 10:17

I've had one bump feel from an aunt which was weird as I didn't even have a bump just a layer of flab! I think I'll probably be able to cope with family having a bump feel (just about) but god if people at work/strangers start doing it no way! That would just be weird!

Just had my 16 week midwife app and had my bloods taken for the quad test (hopefully come back low risk). She said everything looks fine and I finally know my blood type (A+). Have put on about 10 pounds which she said is fine - phew! Was lovely to hear heart beat again (even tho I have checked the odd time with the Doppler). I think I am definitely feeling "bubbles" now Grin so exciting! It doesn't feel like kicking or anything yet so probably got a few more weeks to wait until there's anything that I can be sure is the baby (17+3 today).

Awwww 212 sorry your feeling so massive - hopefully it will all even out in a few weeks. I'm sure you look lovely and not as big as you think you are!

Not sure how we could share piccies - I'm sure there's somewhere on here we must be able to.

When my friend was on the antenatal thread for her baby her group set up a private Facebook group for people to join so if people wanted to we could do something like that where we could have piccies and things.

Littleen · 27/08/2013 10:24

I'm sure you're not that massive - it shows much earlier with the second one anyway :) I hope mine stays hidden until I have secured a job - not going to get hired with a baby bump, that's for sure!

Found out I have the awkward Bloodtype, A rhesus negative! Another thing to add to my already santa-long worrylist! Off to my scan now, will let you know how it went when I'm back :D

barebranches · 27/08/2013 10:28

waiting for my 16 week check. starting to get to know this hospital pretty well! shame ill give birth in a different one!!
waiting is always so tense!

marzipanned · 27/08/2013 10:51

You can put pics on your profile though I've no idea how, but if people would rather keep identity a bit private we could do as missk suggests and set up a private FB group.

Just had my 16 wk mw appointment - another new mw (have had a different one each time!) and she was lovely. She found the hb straight away, turns out I was looking in COMPLETELY the wrong place with the doppler! :)

She said some first timers don't feel movement til 22 weeks, I don't want to wait that long! But all in all good appointment and so lovely and reassuring to hear that galloping heart.

misskatamari · 27/08/2013 10:56

Bare and littleen good luck for today! Glad you had a good appointment marzi - glad you heard the heartbeat so easily - hopefully you'll find it no problem with the Doppler now Grin

SugarMiceInTheRain · 27/08/2013 11:25

Argh! Just typed quite a long post and lost it all :(

Been really busy over the summer so not had much time to post - can't believe how fast these threads are filling up though! I will have to catch up once the kids are back at school.

I have a definite bump, very obvious and I'm about the size I was at 5 months with DS1 (I am only 14+4 so way behind some of you ladies). My dad and stepmum visited last week and SM said it's all psychological - people can make themselves look pregnant if they are/ want to be. Rigggghhhht..... Hmm I'm petite which is why I'm showing so much I suppose (that and 2 children already so my abdominal muscles have just given up!) Nobody has rubbed my bump yet (apart from DH and the kids) - there are some people I don't mind doing it but I'd be cringing if random people or acquaintances started doing it. Feeling a few movements now and again, usually once I relax and try to sleep!

Have succumbed and made a few purchases, the main one being a travel system as I got rid of the ones I used with my boys. Quite pleased with it, and it was a bargain £46 on Ebay - picked it up on Saturday. DH however didn't want to buy a new cot mattress in Ikea as it might be tempting fate. Eh?!

Sickness has eased now, still feel a bit queasy now and again and crave weird things/ don't fancy eating stuff DH is having but it's a far cry from the constant nausea and several times a day vomiting I was suffering with for about 8 weeks. Still absolutely knackered though, no energy for things and I just want to sleep all the time. DH doesn't seem to understand this (though has been otherwise wonderfully supportive) so yesterday 'to make the most of the BH weekend' found us schlepping round Warwick Castle. Luckily the kids loved it as I was feeling hormonal and quite frankly murderous, so their enjoyment made me seethe slightly less Blush For the first time in the holidays I am really thinking thank goodness they're nearly back at school - they start on Thursday - unfortunately I have something on Thursday but am planning on some regular naps most days they're at school methinks!

Bought a groupon voucher for a fancy 4D scan so can't wait to redeem it - I'm undecided as to whether I should do it before or after my NHS one (for which I'll be 21 weeks) What do you girls think?

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 27/08/2013 11:54

Morning pregsters.

Had a lovely weekend in Somerset with friends (except fo the bits where my drunk friend was chastising me for being a lame preggo and going home early, when actually I hadnt slept the night before because my room was above her roaring Aga and I wanted to get back to let my dogs out Angry , then the following morning saying it again whilst sober, grrrrr.)

Feeling fat and tired but otherwise fabulous. DH thinks im stupid for posting on here because I should only come on here if i've actually got something to say and because I haven't had any pregnancy gripes I should just leave you all alone! Mean.

Eeeeeek 2 weeks until I can see my baby again and get shopping!!

Can't believe that the August thread (yes, rugularly read it to check whats in store) is only on part 6!! I thought we were chatty until I saw that March 2014 is on Part 5!

tinypolkadot · 27/08/2013 12:29

I?ve got my 16 week appointment this afternoon, really hope I get to hear the heartbeat, I feel a bit left out of all the doppler action!

I think my belly is becoming rather noticeable ? I?d be up for a closed facebook group. I?m sure we?ll all want to post baby pics in February too Smile

I had a dream the baby was born early last night, it was horrible. The baby was so small and stiff and in the shape of a gingerbread man and the eyes were iced on in crosses Sad and I was desperately trying to get it to breastfeed. In the end it did come to life and feed - then I tried to put it back where it came from so it could finish growing! Weird.

Sugarmice if you go for your scan early you might get to find out the sex sooner? Otherwise I think if you leave it later you would see the facial features better as they?ve had more time to develop? I could be completely wrong of course!

bugsyburge · 27/08/2013 12:55

hello all,

this tiredness is SO debilitating, it's driving me mad!!!!!! I'm going back to the gym today to see if that helps at all, I'm a marathon runner normally so could do with reminding my body what running is!!!!

I bought my first baby outfit on Saturday.... a lovely selection of stripey babygros from next Smile .... unfortunately DH made his first purchase too..... the villa away strip; although I shouldn't be concerned because he picked the away kit because it's purple & that makes it unisex Hmm

I'm thrilled as I'm sure you can sense!!!!!

Bearfrills · 27/08/2013 13:37

I'm hating the tiredness, I almost stepped in front of a car this morning and all I can think of is that I was so tired :( I had DS by the hand to make it even worse. We were at the crossing, I pressed the button, looked both ways and then just stepped out even though the green man wasn't on yet and I could see cars coming. It's like it didn't even register until after I'd moved forward. Thank fuck for passers by, an old man grabbed my arm and gave me a good telling off. I'm going to have an early night and tomorrow I'm going to the MW drop-in to see if there's a cause (iron maybe?) or a cure (Red Bull, lots of Red Bull).

barebranches · 27/08/2013 13:37

16 week check was fine and was only 15 mins! heart beat was loud and clear which was good!!! Grin Grin Grin very happy mummy to be!

Shropshiremummy2bLaFay · 27/08/2013 13:48

EEEEEEK Bare, isn't it great? Im not a doppler so share your excitement!

Thanks Tiny, now I reeeallly fancy a gingerbread man yet eating one would seem a bit wrong now, especially after you tried to breast feed it!

tinypolkadot · 27/08/2013 14:05

You can?t eat my gingerbread baby Shropshire! Grin I don't think I'll look at a gingerbread man in the same way again
