For those struggling to get comfy sleeping, I can highly recommend sleeping with a cushion between your knees if you're lying on your side - it makes all the difference to me for easing achey hips as it keeps them level. I have a dodgy back anyway so have to do this from time to time even when not preggers.

Somanychanges · 26/08/2013 13:47

Lovestobake yes we are not far, we live in a village just outside Leathethead, just moved here from London. Boxhill is fab, the kids love it so much. Unfortunately because I have been so sick I have not been able to take them much. But I am fine so far today so will be joining in the fun this afternoon. Just waiting on our friends from London to turn up.

I have found adjusting to sleeping on my side difficult as I am usually a tummy sleeper. I have had to add a second pillow for my head and a cushion for under tummy. I have not had pain though luckily but just keep waking due to being uncomfortable and needing to wee.

jazzcat I am exactly the same with my husband poor man but I cannot stand facing him at night with him breathing on me. I might of just turned over and gotten comfortable then he turns over and I have to turn back over and start over.

I really want someone to go baby shopping with even if its just window shopping. My husband is not interested and non of my friends are having babies they either have enough children and are not interested or are have not settled down yet and not thinking about babies. Apart from one of my best friends got pregnant at the same time and we were so excited planning prams and baby names. Unfortunately she had a Missed miscarriage it was awful for her and I feel bad getting excited about baby around her as I know she wanted it so much.

Lovestobake I found the pillow between legs helped to a point, but now the pain is really bad it doesn't help at all Confused I'm experimenting with all kinds of pillow configurations but nothing is helping so far.

Littleen · 26/08/2013 15:33

Can also recommend the pillow between the legs trick - it helps some for me for my achy hips. Although, some nights I've had to resort to paracetamol for the ache, when it's kept me awake.
Perhaps sleeping in a sitting position would feel better, vix?

vix206 · 26/08/2013 15:39

Yes I tried that last night. The ache just shifted to my lower back. I remember last time that nothing I did seemed to help. I ended up at a chiropractor but the only relief was after delivery. Ah well, only another 22 ish weeks then GrinConfused

Can I ask for some advice?

I'm supposed to be going to a cousin's wedding abroad later this week. I had ruled it out because of sickness but that has abated and I think it might be manageable. However, I feel sort of incapable of going - I am still having bad days, and I'm nervous of having one while on the trip; I really don't want to do the trip without DH (tbh at the moment I hate being separated from DH even for the day while he's at work - must be a hormonal thing!) and - really pathetic reason - I can't face the thought of getting outfit, hairiness, and general current hideous state resulting from entire summer being spent in bed sorted out over the next two days.

Main reason for going is that everyone's excited to see me and I don't want to let them down, and there are some family members I haven't seen for years and years who I'd love to see.

What would you do?!! Journey is a real mission - three separate flights.

Marzi that sounds exhausting. I know it would be lovely to see your family but just thinking about it makes me feel exhausted. Personally, I wouldn't risk it...

misskatamari · 26/08/2013 16:28

Awwww Vix I hope you find something that helps your hips feel a bit better soon Hmm

Marzi - i probably wouldn't go as I'd be worried about feeling shit and being stuck there but that's just because I'm a worry wart. What do you want to do? If you take other people's expectations out of the equation I mean as I know it's hard to not feel guilty etc and think of others when you're in this kind of situation. I'd say go with your gut on this one. People would love to see you buy they'll understand if you can't be there x

Thanks all. Yeah...my gut feeling is not to go, but it's good to hear that others probably wouldn't either :)
I am mostly worried about the journey - for the reasons you say Champagne - and can't bear the thought of a long haul flight on my own clutching my zip lock puke bags, only to then have another lay over and another flight...

Gah, feel awful but I know they will understand. Off to send some very guilty emails. :(

Aw, thanks :)

We did a couple of short haul flights earlier this summer and I was delighted to see planes still supply sick bags. They were doable because DH was there but...yes...thinking back, I was exhausted and more ill afterwards, and that was without jet lag to think of! Have been deliberating over this all day, should've just posted here earlier :)

misskatamari · 26/08/2013 17:57

That's a good point champagne made about it making you feel I'll afterwards too. I was feeling so much better recently then PIL came to visit and we were busy doing holiday things with them then DH and I went away (just to York so not far but lots of walking around etc) and it really knocked me for six and I was sick again and so tired for about a week afterwards.

Ooooh I think I might be feeling the "bubbles" that people say you feel before you actually feel baby kicking etc. 17+2 today so I'm hoping its not too early to be the start of feeling something Grin

gnittinggnome · 26/08/2013 19:42

Has anyone else not felt their baby move at all? It's number 1 for me, so I've never felt it before, and don't seem to have felt anything!

My 20 week scan is on the 16th, so a little way away yet, and I can't help being a worry-wart....

vix206 · 26/08/2013 19:47

Gnitting don't worry. 1st babies are always later with kicks etc. my mum reckons she didnt feel me kick once!!

Bearfrills · 26/08/2013 20:14

I didn't feel DS kick until actually at the 20wk. The sonographer pressed the doodad onto my bump, he objected and booted her and I felt it for the first time.

Has anyone got the misery of skin tags yet? I got a couple with DD that dropped off in the couple of weeks after she was born. This time I've developed one and I noticed it today because it's right on the tip of my fecking nipple :( It must have been rubbing on my bra all day too because its bleeding and stinging, that is too sensitive an area for any sort of ouch to be! I'm very tempted to try a bit of DIY surgery to get rid of it.

littlestgirlguide · 26/08/2013 21:03

Gnitting, I've not felt it all yet either.

Milkandtwo · 26/08/2013 21:15

gnitting- nothing here either. 16+3

vix206 · 26/08/2013 21:16

Yes Bear!! I had one just under my arm where my bra sits. I'm afraid I performed some amateur surgery to remove it Grin didn't get any with DS so this is a new thing for me!!

Littleen · 26/08/2013 21:21

Ahh I had one of those under my boob, although it might have been a sort of mole. Not sure, but I errrr surgically removed it with some scissors, and it grew back after a few weeks :P Although I wasn't pregnant, so it probably isn't the same thing!

Can't stop feeling utterly terrified about tomorrows scan, my little sister sarcastically said (when I said I hope the baby is okay) that "nah it's dead" - I think she doesn't realise that you can actually lose the baby? She's rather clueless on these things, too embarrassed to even say the word "pregnant". Anyway, I am so scared, heart has been going mental for several hours now!

misskatamari · 26/08/2013 21:39

Gosh littleen your sister doesn't half suffer from foot in mouth does she! Really try not to worry yourself, site everything will be fine and you'll get to see your lovely little baby giving you a wave Smile

barebranches · 26/08/2013 21:39

marking place
have 16 week check tomorrow.
not felt anything yet. all my muscles ache around my belly area though. Sad

212VIP · 26/08/2013 22:11

Just marking my place as its dropped of my 'I'm on' page... ;)

Whilst I'm here. Does anyone have bump concerns? In so big I looked like this at 7 months with my first. Feeling really embarrassed in case people ask and say 'only 16 weeks' when I tell them...
