Hi girls thought as that thread it quite full we could start a new one here.
Hope you don't mind pink.
How you girls all feeling today? I swear I keep forgetting I'm pregnant when symptoms disappear randomly. But I'm at such early stages, one of the babies of the bunch at just 5+2

OP posts:

pretty completely normal. Discharge is just part of pregnancy. Only reason to worry is if it's a funny colour or smell.

learnasyougo · 10/09/2013 00:25

I'm dreading telling work. I got pregnant within a month of starting there.

took a year mat leave, returned to work already pregnant. Grin Employee of the year or what!

I'm a trainee still (and shouldn't be) but promoting me would have meant paying me more mat pay, so why would they. Two starters (trainees) who started after me became fully fledged before I went on leave. Angry I've got to start pushing to drop the trainee status BEFORE I give them the news.

Hello Everyone! I have been off mn for a while as I was away on holiday and have been crazy busy getting stuff organized in our new house.
I am enjoying the birth stories but it does make me worry that when the time comes I will be fobbed off by the mw and end up with a last minute disaster.
So far everything is going well though. I have my booking appointment tomorrow and my 12 week scan on Monday. The mw said to expect a call for the nuchal fold scan anyday this week.
I need to tell my managers at work today because of all the appointments. I am also expecting an offer for a new role internally so I want to make sure they know before they make it. I will feel terribly guilty otherwise even though I know it happens. Hmm

I am really looking forward to the scan because I have not had any sickness so I sometimes think I am just putting on weight. I have had that imaginary conversation about mw telling me "no you're not pregnant, you're just fat"
aaaargh.. was typing on the train to work and missed my stop! need to scramble and find another route to work! Angry Angry Angry Angry

catameringue · 10/09/2013 08:07

Morning all,

I've decided I'm going to be thrifty about this whole pg and baby thing. So I've joined a free cycle group and I'm watching ebay.

I don't have many friends with babies so eBay is going to be my friend I think.

runninggirl85 · 10/09/2013 09:56

Hi Learnasyougo

I am in a similar situation..started a new job early May, got pregnant early June and now am 14 + 5 and just told my boss. Got a muttered congratulations a not very happy face. I work from home and travel around so will only see him face to face on Friday - slightly nervous.

I didn't find out i was pregnant until 10 weeks, hence being in this group - i thought i wasn't as far as i am.. and now due 6th March

Eek x

Trinpy · 10/09/2013 11:57

That doesn't sound very positive running. I might put off telling work until 14 weeks...

LeeHandy · 10/09/2013 12:03

I just told my managers now and the reaction is mixed. it seems like there is a real chance I will not get the new role offer but I will talk to the hiring manager for that role only later today. I am a bit nervous about it.

learnasyougo · 10/09/2013 12:08

running, what can they do. ALL companies are faced with this 'risk' so it's just how it goes. it's not as if you're quitting or on long term sick leave, which is, from an operational point of view, harder to resource for.

As you get a lovely bumpety-bump your colleagues will get excited for you - or are you entirely working from home?

oh and good news, I got my scan date moved from 16+3 (surely an error?) to 11+4, so Wednesday week!Smile

Hi all anyone else due on 13th April? Iam 9.2 today and been feeling crap since week 6...as in 24/7 nausea, severe exhaustion, reflux and some vomiting..although feel I can't complain much as I know it's all a good sign! I was never this bad with my first who is now 2.5 yrs, and very busy. I have been signed off work but my boss has been great...think it helps as it doesn't effect my sickness record as related to pregnancy. Also anyone else live in SW London like me?

Vikkijayne2507 · 10/09/2013 12:14

Thats a much better date learnasyougo all the tests etc couldnt have been done by the first date must have been an oversight.

I had a much nicer reaction to my pregnancy even though I only started last December. Most of my team do not know that Im not coming back though and that I will leave in January all going well. Its a strange thought as I work intensivly with families and the thought I would just stop one day is odd.

Nessalina · 10/09/2013 15:36

Just had my booking appointment, which was fairly straightforward.
Bit gutted that my BMI is quite high (31) which means I need to go for extra testing for diabetes apparently - ugh! Sad

pinkpeoniesplease · 10/09/2013 17:20

Ness-me too! I've heard it can make you quite unwell, I've got mine on Christmas Eve Hmm I'm going to reschedule.

cookielove · 10/09/2013 19:20

Hey Ness me to. I was on the cusp and the computer recalculated it while I was having my blood test and it came back as 31 (grrrr)

Ninunina · 10/09/2013 19:57

Don't worry about the Glucose Tolerance Test ladies. I had to do it because I have a family history of diabetes and all they do is test the way your body reacts to sugar. You go on first thing in the morning without eating anything. They test your blood, then they give you some Lucozade to drink and they see how your body processes the sugar and they test your blood again after a couple of hours. It's quite boring, but no big deal. I actually felt quite reassured by doing the test since gestational diabetes is a big deal if it goes undiagnosed, so you really want to make sure that your not prone to it.

Ninunina · 10/09/2013 20:07

mystic I've been given 3 different due dates ranging between the 11th & 13th April. I like to think I'm the 11 th though since that makes me 10 weeks on Friday Wink
I used to be a SW14 girl and spent the first 35 weeks of my last pregnancy there, but I'm now in Malta.
I never went back to work after DD was born (she's 1y9m) but I think I'll be taking a few days off if I was at work. I never took a single day off last time despite being sick several times a day, but I feel much worse this time. I can't wait for the second trimester to get some relief.

Vikkijayne2507 · 10/09/2013 21:17

oh also I brought maternity leggings. my leggings were leaving a sore red mark on me. The new leggings are soo comfy a tiny bit baggy but in sure they will fill out. im also constantly bloated so bump or bloat at least I'm comfy

ChocChaffinch · 10/09/2013 21:40

Hi all. Haven't been on MN for a while - been trying to lie low until my 12 wk scan, which is on 17th - just a week to go now. I'm just hoping I can see a healthy little baby in there and put my mind at rest (for a while!)

Mystic I'm in SW London, where are you?

Tea1Sugar · 11/09/2013 06:20

Mystic I'm in SW London/Surrey border

LeeHandy · 11/09/2013 06:58

I have bought maternity jeans and leggings as well. I have reached thr point where I am no longer comfortable in my regular ones. My booking appointment is today and my scan is on Monday. I am also expecting to take the GTTs because I have a family history of diabetes. I am actually expecting to have gestational diabetes so am eating all the cake that I can before my tests come back. Grin

Mystic73 · 11/09/2013 09:15

Hi ninunina, iam 10 weeks on Sunday, can't wait to get to 12 weeks to see if this sickness passes. Iam in clapham, my son who is 2 and half was born at st Thomas hospital overlooking river Thames and Big Ben which was nice :-) . Do you miss London?

Mystic73 · 11/09/2013 09:19

Hi definatelysometime iam in clapham common. Iam looking forward to my scan also to put my mind at ease. Feel like crap at moment with lots of twinges and pulling...I read its common with second and third child, doesn't put my mind at complete rest tho. Iam guessing your lying down due to not feeling so good? At least you have a week to go for your scan, mine is not until 30th sept which seems so far off :-0

Mystic73 · 11/09/2013 09:20

Hi teal1sugar
Iam in clapham common, how's your pregnancy so far? Is it your first?

CazInLondon · 11/09/2013 11:17

Hi Mystic, am also in SW, near Balham. Had DS at St George's and planning to return for the second one!

catameringue · 11/09/2013 12:11

So I just told my mum.

She was happy of course but started asking if I'd had pg confirmed by gp, had I actually done a test myself to check in case it wasn't etc?! I asked her how on earth she thought people found out. She said gp or you just knew. I explained medical science had moved on a little.
