Hi girls thought as that thread it quite full we could start a new one here.
Hope you don't mind pink.
How you girls all feeling today? I swear I keep forgetting I'm pregnant when symptoms disappear randomly. But I'm at such early stages, one of the babies of the bunch at just 5+2

SuzyP36 · 09/09/2013 09:21

Hey we have the same scan date :) and mine is at 9am so ill both inking of u x

SuzyP36 · 09/09/2013 09:21

Thinking lol

MummyBee87 · 09/09/2013 09:26

18th is the same day as mine too! I'm at 14:00 though, so have the whole day to sit and contain my excitement!!

MummyBee87 · 09/09/2013 09:28

Hi Suzy! Thats my due date too! I'm expecting it to change at the scan next week though. How are you feeling? I've put my jeans on for work this morning and have had to undo the button, as they're getting rather tight.xx

catameringue · 09/09/2013 09:33

Choc - I didn't manage a full bladder, maybe half and they saw everything ok without having to resort to the internal one.

I am also not taking pregnacare etc. I can't get it down so I've ordered a liquid one from a website, think they buy it in from the US.

Crazy - my local hospital has been rubbish and made the news about its poor maternity care but seems to be a little better now. I'd rather go to the hospital 40 mins away though.

I've been feeling quite freaked out about the birth thing. Does the exit really get big enough? ? What if it gets stuck? If you tear is it monumentally painful?

ChocChaffinch · 09/09/2013 09:33

04/04/14 is a great due date Grin

simultaneous scans is cool.

ChocChaffinch · 09/09/2013 09:36

cat - try not to worry about the birth Smile

your bits are amazing and they will stretch big enough, and tbh I had a 3rd deg tear with my dd and I didn't feel it. pushing is wonderful after all the contracting, that moment when they're all yelling push!! it's so exciting,. you don't feel it coming out at all, you're so focussed.

after, then you feel it Grin but you heal fast.

SuzyP36 · 09/09/2013 10:06

Hey mummybee yeh my jeans aren't doing up anymore but then I'm eating like there's no tomorrow and I've always been a wee skinny size 6 so then I keep on worrying that I'm not really pregnant and I'm just finally putting on weight!
Yeh I know I'm actually mad ;) x

PainAuxRaisins · 09/09/2013 10:35

Hello and welcome to new people (esp those expecting twins!). I'm on the Sanatogen mum-to-be (small pink box) and no vomming here (although really gagged on it this morning as the pills are quite chunky). I'm almost 12 weeks and still feel rough but hoping that will go soon (pleeease!). Massively bloated - looking about 4-5 months pregnant already compared with 1st pregnancy. I have my scan this Thurs and I can't wait - will be so relieved to see a HB. Anyone else from London on this thread??

CazInLondon · 09/09/2013 10:41

Catameringue you made me chuckle when asking if the exit gets big enough :D

In my experience it does, in fact DS pretty much shot straight out (okay I'm exaggerating, I did labour for a few hours, but it was quick nevertheless - only a couple of hours from being admitted at 5 cm to delivering both the baby and placenta). I had a 1st degree tear but don't remember it being painful afterwards. The wonderful thing is, your body is pumped full of endorphins so it's not like you're doing it stone cold sober!

It was fast last time which makes me wonder if I should go for a home birth this time round... But worrying about: what do we do with DS if it's at night? What about the neighbours? And above all, what if something goes wrong - the hospital is only 2 miles away but wouldn't forgive myself if something happened because we weren't quick enough.

Anyone thinking of a home birth?

xx

MummyBee87 · 09/09/2013 10:47

Suzy! I must admit, when I've been able I've not exactly been 'eating sensibly' I've eaten what ever I fancy at the time ;) I've been worrying the same thing, but all the signs are there plus a positive test, i'll be so embarrassed if I go for the scan and they just say 'no dear you're not pregnant, just fat!' teeheehee. I must admit, even though my pants won't fasten, I don't feel big enough to get into maternity wear, at what point are we expected/supposed to go maternity clothes shopping? I don't have a huge budget so don't want to replace things every month because I get too big. I do however think a good pair of maternity jeans/leggins will be a good investment!! xx

PainAuxRaisins · 09/09/2013 10:51

Not brave enough for home birth (and too lazy to clear up afterwards) so going to opt for the halfway house of birth centre. Like you Caz I have a history of very fast labours so I'm worried I'm going to sneeze this one out in Sainsburys and not have time to get to the BC! (Would I get free shopping if that happened??).

MummyBee87 · 09/09/2013 11:00

PainAuxRaisins, you've just had me litterally LOL in the office!! Can any of you more experienced ladies, give us first timers a bit of a breakdown of labour and giving birth please? It would be nice to know some of your experiences so that we could prepare ourselves? xx

ThedementedPenguin · 09/09/2013 11:18

I was induced at 40+11.

Went in on Thursday had two pessaries. Didn't really work although was 3cm dilated when they broke my waters on Friday morning about 11. Started on the drip after 12.

Was on g&a until nearly 4. At this point ds' heart rate was sky high so they had to stop drip, take blood samples from him to make sure he was okay. Around 5 it started up again but had to be restarted at the lowest setting. Had diamorphine at this point.

At 8ish I was fully dialated (sp?) ds was born at 10.03pm. No cuts, no tears. Had a shower, then some tea and toast then was brought up to the ward.

It was an excellent birth and really thinking back i shouldn't have panicked so much before hand but I didn't know what to expect.

So incase anyone is induced, it's not always a bad or horrible way. I had an excellent experience and can't wait to do it all again.

catameringue · 09/09/2013 11:29

I knew someone that had been having a naughty session with her dh, went to loo to clean their toys, naked I might add, and suddenly had a massive contraction. In rushed her mil who had been staying to find my friend stark naked surrounded by bedroom toys. The baby almost fell out right there.

I have a suspicion that I'll be embracing a 72 hr labour and all the rest.

cathpip · 09/09/2013 11:47

Hello, I will be joining you. I'm 10 weeks today with dc3, and quite frankly feel like poo, but at least I'm not throwing up.........am very nervously awaiting my scan due to a miscarriage in May, but at least I'm nearly there. Maternity trousers are already in use as I look 4/5 months, roll on the cankles and sore hips, I swear I'm going to need a trolley to rest this bump on by the end! (Previous 2 were large!)

mamapants · 09/09/2013 12:13

Ninunina whereabouts in Malta are you?
I have family from Gozo but haven't been in a few years now. We went over when my niece was a baby once was hard work in the heat so probably won't go for a while again now.

Ninunina · 09/09/2013 13:04

We're living in Mosta. The summers in Malta are very hot, but then we have a lovely warm autumn and spring and very mild winter so the weather is lovely for most of the year. Things should start becoming a bit more bearable in a few weeks hopefully. Don't get me wrong, I usually love the summer since I love the beach. I just hate the August/September humidity.

crazycranberry · 09/09/2013 13:19

My 1st time in labour was............interesting!
I felt contractions at about 4am but stayed home for as long as poss and decided to phone hospital at about 9am. A patronising midwife asked "is this your first baby?........then labour will take hours so I would advise not to come in just yet as we will more than likely send you home!"

I lasted until 11.15am at home but at this point i kinda just knew I needed to go to hospital. We arrived and yet another patronising midwife said the same thing to me once she found out it was my first baby. Anyway she sighed and said "I will take you in and just examine you to see where we are"

Turns out I was 8cm dialated already (in your face midwives!!!!) tee hee!

They started to monitor baby heartbeat and each time I had contraction his heartbeat would stop! I was very worried and had no idea what I should be asking them to do etc. after 2hours he was born. They had to do a large episiotomy (& that's a whole different story! Lol which I can laugh about now but was slightly mortified by at the time! ) and cut the chord whilst he was still inside me as he wasn't breathing. Took a little while for him to open his lungs for that all important cry but when I heard that I was relieved.
So in the end, He was born just 2hours after I arrived at hospital! So much for their expert opinion.
My advice to ALL is if you feel like you are in labour and want to go to hospital then go! It would be better to be checked etc whilst there and not be fobbed off on the phone. The worst that could happen is they send you home or make you wander in the hospital for a few more hours.
This time when I start having contractions I am going in no matter what they say.
This was not meant to be a horrible scare story to worry first time mums but simply a story to share so you ladies know what options there are etc. go with your gut feeling! Not every first time labour/birth is like the textbooks say and might not take the hours and hours that I was led to believe.

CazInLondon · 09/09/2013 13:33

Totally agree with crazycranberry - I called the labour ward after a few hours of mild to strong contractions, as I was worried I hadn't felt the baby move for a couple of hours. They told me I was welcome to come in to monitor the baby, but that they would then most certainly send me home as it was my first. So we got there and hung around for a while, during which time I deteriorated quite quickly (throwing up etc). The MW said 'hey, let's check you before sending you home' and I was 5cm. By the time they had a room ready for me I was in transition, and the baby fell like it just came out (no pushing, it was just like I couldn't hold it in any longer) within about half an hour of erring on that labouring bed.

Next time I'll be hopping in the car right as soon as it feels like it's time, won't be waiting for someone to 'assess' me over the phone (they can't even see me anyway, how should they know!!).

xx

Interesting to read other peoples birth stories. Fingers crossed we all have lovely pain-free sneeze births this time.

Is it worth getting the 2nd bounty pack? Are there lots of nice free things and coupons in or is it a load of rubbish? Do they send you tons of junk mail after you've given them your address?

learnasyougo · 09/09/2013 14:54
