Hi girls thought as that thread it quite full we could start a new one here.
Hope you don't mind pink.
How you girls all feeling today? I swear I keep forgetting I'm pregnant when symptoms disappear randomly. But I'm at such early stages, one of the babies of the bunch at just 5+2

I've been having a couple of teas a day, though they don't taste anywhere near as good as they used to, and have gone off coffee completely. V strange for me, as I used to have several a day. I've had one or two diet cokes, but I think full fat coke is better. As mamapants says, it's the aspartame that's questionable.

Do you know whether sugar free squash has the same sweeteners in it? I've been drinking quite a bit of squash, as I can't abide the taste of water at the moment... Hmmmm, will try to go for high juice when I can...

It's a bloody minefield!!

mamapants · 29/08/2013 18:29

Yes most squashes also have aspartame. The sugar free high juices have it but not the other kinds.
Also the pricier cordials tend to use sugar rather than sweetener.
I also find water hard to drink and I really need to drink more.
As I'm still breastfeeding and pregnant I guess I should be drinking twice as much as a normal person which would be aboutfive times as much as I do.

Vikkijayne2507 · 29/08/2013 18:35

I've been having loads of cm tmi sorry. I. guessing it's due ti mucas plug but its annoying

Fairypants · 29/08/2013 18:47

Hi all, welcome newbies!
I haven't had the cm thing yet but remember it from first pregnancy. I was really worried, the Internet was not the fountain of knowledge it is today and I was far too embarrassed to ask the mw. Sad
I've not been on much recently as the morning sickness has kicked in, only nausea so far, but all morning and evening. As I'm still exhausted from 1pm onwards, every day is difficult atm.
I have my booking appt tomorrow though and just bought a Doppler off eBay so feeling quite excited this eve.Smile

Fairypants I was looking at dopplers briefly but could only find one that works much later on.
When does the one you've ordered work from?

Hello all.

I have lots if dizzyness and my head feels fuzzy. I usually work full time in a nursery and I've worked 2 days this week and now I feel wipes out. I have got tomorrow off now. Grin

Also I feel sick so eat a little, feel starving eat more and feel sick again!! Ita not fair.

Good news my sister had her baby :)

cookielove · 29/08/2013 19:18

Oh crap I forgot to say my weeks.

I am 9 weeks today :)

Bodeccia · 29/08/2013 19:38

Congratulations auntie cookie! Hope mother and baby are both well :)

YY to dizzyness
YY to fatigue (not sure anyone actually mentioned it, but I'll mention it anyway)
I'm not off caffeine completely, I can't stand the smell of coffee at the moment (that's when I knew I was pg), but I'm enjoying a cuppa or two during the day. I've started taking sugar in my tea, which isn't like me either, I just fancied it.

Last pg I was well into my squash, but I would always get the full sugar ones because of the aspartame issue (although I'm not totally clear what the problem was with it). I also got well into drinking milk, especially with chocolate nesquick (I'm such a child). I think there was a documentary at the time with that woman called Cherry who did a show about the difference between low sugar/fat and full sugar/fat, and milk came out really well. I tried it and was hooked. This time I am all over marmite and toast. Love it.

Cookie I'm feeling exactly the same and its impossible to do anything when you feel like you might faint any time soon.

I'm trying to stay off the caffeine but I need a cuppa sometimes and now also have a sugar usually to help the dizziness.

cookielove · 29/08/2013 19:51

Glad to know others feel the same, (makes me feel normal) although sorry to hear your feeling bad to.

Ahhhh my nephew was doing well but he's been rushed to the big hospital as he has jaundice :(

mamapants · 29/08/2013 19:56

Congratulations to Cookie on your sis' baby.
I don't know the details regarding aspartame either, I remember reading about it, being suitably horrified and the forgetting it all. I think there was talk of cancer causing properties although some food agencies have passed it as fine so who knows. In general life I just try and limit it but while pregnant I'd rather be on the safe side.

mamapants · 29/08/2013 20:23

Sorry to hear about your nephews jaundice cookie. Am sure it will clear up ok.

Also haven't been putting my weeks as I won't know till the scan but between 6-8 weeks. 8 from LMP but had long cycles so I think more likely to be around 6.

TeaAndANatter · 29/08/2013 20:28

Evening all, just dipping my toe into the antenatal club water. Mostly lurking on the PG after MC thread, but wanted to pop in here and look around . Mmmm, nice!

cookie hope your nephews jaundice clears very soon!

mama I'm in the same situation as you and it's driving me crazy not knowing how many weeks I am. I got caught straight after coming off Cerazette before I had a period so no way of knowing really. I'm guessing between 6-7 weeks.

Has anyone started telling anyone their pregnant yet? I'm thinking of telling family if everything's ok at our early scan but maybe wait to tell friends until my 12 week scan just to be sure.

prettyinpink90 · 29/08/2013 20:34

Congrats teaand come and join in, we're a friendly bunch Smile

bodeccia - with you on the marmite/toast combo
Hello to the new people Smile
Booked in with the midwife today and my scan will be on Sept 12th so it's starting to feel more real now (as if the hideous fatigue and nausea wasn't making it real enough).
I think I'm 10 weeks exactly today but the midwife this morning said I was

I'm 7weeks and the nausea won't let up! Luckily I work from home so constant dry retching isn't as embarrassing as it could be. Going away with friends this weekend though and not sure how I'm gonna cover it up! DH and I are both nervous people so don't want to tell anyone til after 1st trimester

Vikkijayne2507 · 29/08/2013 22:17

me and oh haven't told family yet but I feel really bad but without hearing a hb or seeing anything yet it could all be in my head apart fron being tired and big sore boobs since just b4 bfp

Vikkijayne2507 · 29/08/2013 22:17

oh 8 + 3 wks

LeeHandy · 29/08/2013 22:31

welcome cat and other newbies!
I am glad to see I am not the only one still drinking coffee! I restrict myself to half a cup but I need at least that much to kickstart my brain in the morning. I have been feeling guilty about it because my sil who just had her baby completely gave up even a sip of tea during her pregnancy. but now feeling a bit better.
Congrats auntie cookie! I have heard new born jaundice is easy to treat (i think sunlight does the trick) if diagnosed, so hopefully all should be well.

LeeHandy · 29/08/2013 22:32

oh 9+6 days

Nessalina · 29/08/2013 22:40

Hi all! Welcome to Tea & Cata Smile
I've been such an emotional mess today, as well as being nauseous all day - this pregnancy stuff is way harder than I thought! Confused My DH cooked fish last night and when I came down this morning the kitchen reeked of it, didn't make it to the car without some attractive retching! Blush
Caffeine-wise, I've cut down a LOT, I'm on one cup of tea a day at the mo, with small amounts of Choc if I fancy. Normally a diet coke fiend too, Have switched to full fat Fanta which is tasty. NHS says up to 200mg of caffeine per day is fine - that's two cups of instant coffee, or two teas and a can of coke. So whoever said they're down to one or two cans a week, you could be depriving yourself less! Lots of places think its best to keep it low in 1st trimester anyway though, which is why I'm trying one cup. I normally have about 5 a day!

Nessalina · 29/08/2013 22:41

6+1 btw!
