Jolleigh Really - you're due 10 days before me - have you tried calling your hospital?

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 21/08/2013 10:57

Good luck to everyone with scans today.

MTB I had to ring to get a date for my scan (Kings) although I got a date a couple of weeks ago for my local hospital via letter from them. I didn't cancel it I case kings didn't accept the referral and I know appointments are like gold dust. How far along are u? Is it worth a call to the hospital to see what the situation is with appointments?

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 21/08/2013 10:58

pirates sending u Brew and Cake to get through the day. Grin

Edamame · 21/08/2013 10:58

Good luck Lyra and everyone else scanning today

I have my scan date MTB but it's not til Sept 16th when I'll be 13+2, I feel so far behind everyone here! Did you call your midwife already?

I've booked a private scan for Friday (part of Harmony test). Going to be working abroad for 3 weeks and it's going to be maximum stress, extremely long days and may need to tell colleagues about pg who I wouldn't normally tell in order that I can look after myself better, not puke on the client etc, so definitely wanna see a heartbeat first.

commsgirl · 21/08/2013 11:02

Good luck all you ladies with a scan today. Will be thinking of you.

Jolleigh · 21/08/2013 11:04

MTB - I'm calling them today as I'm getting a little concerned. It would be just my luck to be the one whose appointments got ballsed up!

rescoonetwothree · 21/08/2013 11:07

thanks lumpy!

edamame I'm thinking about getting the harmony test too, i don't think I'm high risk statistics wise but my friend just had a little boy with ds and i think it'd be good just to mentally prepare at least either way!

it's all getting very exciting, good luck everyone today!

i also feel a name change coming along, hormones.

Jolleigh · 21/08/2013 11:16

How very odd. Just called the antenatal unit asking about whether they've sent me anything RE a scan date. I was told "oh it doesn't work like that now lovey, your midwife will book you in a scan date when you come to your booking in visit".

Seems this unit works differently to most. Hope it doesn't mean I'll have to wait ages Sad

IceNoSlice · 21/08/2013 11:28

Jolleigh it seems to work differently everywhere. I called my antenatal unit directly to arrange my scan.

I'd suggest you keep at them a bit. Don't worry about being a PITA, but gently harass until you get what you need Smile

commsgirl · 21/08/2013 11:28

I had to ring up and book my own after I'd seen my midwife. Made it so much easier as no waiting around for a letter etc. So funny how everywhere seems to do things differently.

MTBMummy · 21/08/2013 11:29

Well have got off the phone with the hospital - MW is on holiday and our MW team know nothing about it.

I'm booked for the 19th September, which assuming I have my days right will make me 14 weeks. If I'm a few days out, I'll be too late for the screening tests. I'm fuming as they hadn't received my records from my midwife so if I hadn't chased it I would have had nothing booked. this is exactly the same cock up my MW made when I had DD.

OP posts:
Edamame · 21/08/2013 11:39

I'd be fuming too MTB. In fact, I'd probably go and be sick on their doorstep. Are you in / around London? The place I'm getting the Harmony test done offered me a good deal for doing the test in week 10, obvs still costs though. Can PM you (and greymoose) if interested.

MTBMummy · 21/08/2013 11:42

Edamame please do PM the details I work in London so getting there is no problem - Thanks

Hi Jolleigh I didn't get my scan date through until after my booking in appointment. Never had to call anyone, this my midwife did it. Was posted out to me the week after my appointment. Mines in next week when I'll be 13 weeks. Bit impatient now as hit the 12 week mark today and feel like i shuld be getting scanned. Also woke up with a protuding belly day well more sticky-out than normal. Normally when i wake up its normal and I progress to looking 5 months pregnant during the day with a full on bloat, but starting from scratch today!

WRT Breaking Bad DH and I started watching a couple of weeks ago and have actually sat about like lazy pigswatching, we are nearly finished Season 2, so way behind.... I was hoping it would fill a Dexter shaped hole - currently waiting on Season 7 and 8 of this to be updated on NetFlix! I am also waiting on Season 4 of Vampire Diaries, but thats like my dirty wee secret. LOVE Damon Smile

April13 · 21/08/2013 11:43

Apologies for the dreadful spelling!!!

Jolleigh · 21/08/2013 11:45

MTB - I'd be majorly pissed!

Jolleigh · 21/08/2013 11:50

April - I definitely don't want to go much past 12weeks! I'm desperate to check there's only 1 in there! As a tubster larger lady I really hadn't ecpected any non-boob bodily changes for many weeks but the very bottom of by belly is definitely more out than normal and I'm only 10+5.

Beccadugs · 21/08/2013 11:58

Thanks everyone for your good wishes! The lobster (aka baby) was all fine, wiggly around like mad, and trying to high five the ultrasound wand. There was a bit o f a blur over one ovary, so possibly a ruptured cyst (totally forgot they spotted one 4 weeks ago!!) best thing is I only have to wait 6 days until my official 12 week scan!!

MTB - how utterly rubbish, can they put you on cancellation list?

Good luck to those scannees today. Hope you all enjoy the experience.

Jolleigh · 21/08/2013 12:00

Brilliant news Becca! Wine

MTBMummy · 21/08/2013 12:07

Great New Becca - so happy the lobster is ok

The hospital are lovely and have me on the cancellation list - and funnily enough they did remember me from last time, asking "Didn't his happen last time round?" So they either think I'm mad or my midwife is

Lovely news becca

Everyone else I am in the same frustrating boat re scans due 17th March and just been told my scan will most likely be around week 14. And I only know this as I phoned to chase it up. Debating a private scan now but not sure yet.

April13 · 21/08/2013 12:10

Great news Becca

rescoonetwothree · 21/08/2013 12:12

edamame I'm in Cardiff and they do it here but it's £700 which is extortionate, they do fetal sexing too don't they?!

Sorry to hear the incompetence is rife and hope all is sorted now!

Beccadugs · 21/08/2013 12:44

Thanks everyone! Will post a pic in Martians later.

Best bit is I am
Measuring 12 weeks, so have convinced DH we can start telling people before the official 12 week scan next week!

Edamame · 21/08/2013 12:49

That's a lot of money grey, mine is gonna cost £180 or so, assuming my dates are right (must be within week 10). If I'm out by a day, then I can't get the test, even for £700, since I'll be out of the country for the following 3 weeks.

I'm not sure about sexing - technically it's plausible they could identify the sex because they are testing the (tiny tiny amounts of) baby's DNA in your blood. I guess whether they would actually look for that or tell you so early is partly an ethical question...
