We have our first pregnant Sleb due around the same time as us: Nadine from Girls Aloud has announced her pregnancy. To be fair she's not said how pregnant she is, I'm just assuming she's around 12ish weeks.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 15/08/2013 13:10

Exciting times Frankel!!

What a nightmare Sarah! I know some hospitals won't tell you the sex, I think that's why gender scans arose in the first place.

rosyryan · 15/08/2013 13:24

Ime, myself and with friends, private places will nearly always tell you at 12 weeks, the nhs almost never will until 20 weeks. And private places never ever need you to have a full bladder! There ends my scan wisdom.

Dabarai · 15/08/2013 14:35

OMG Pram, your post made me snort in a public place!!

Dabarai · 15/08/2013 14:36

The one about wanking. Grin

PramQueen1971 · 15/08/2013 14:45

Dabarai, did you produce one o' them long strings of snot out of one nostril when you snorted? Grin

PramQueen1971 · 15/08/2013 14:46

Nadine from Girls Aloud has periods??! stick insect

Rockchick1984 · 15/08/2013 14:48

Hottie with only 2 options surely there's 50% chance of them telling you the correct gender at 12 weeks Grin

My hospital will tell you the sex at 20 week scan, but it feels too long to wait with no scan and no kicks after last time's miscarriage so I'm having a gender scan more for the scan than for finding out what I'm having. My dad has offered to pay as its my wedding anniversary when I'm 17 weeks so not going to say no!!

Wuxiapian · 15/08/2013 15:42

Finally got my scan date!

Next Wednesday, 21st August! I'll be 12.4.

Yay!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 15/08/2013 16:03

Hurrah Wux!

Rock it's my wedding anniversary in my 17th week too!!

Prambo you do make me guffaw.

FrankelInFoal · 15/08/2013 16:06

Hurrah wuxia Grin

My midwife just called, looks like they are going to slot me in on a cancellation next Tuesday. Just got to wait for a call to confirm the time.

FrankelInFoal · 15/08/2013 16:07

I should add, while we are doing anniversaries, I'll be 15+3 on our 5th wedding anniversary Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 15/08/2013 16:14

Great news Frankel! On both counts Grin

Sarahb8990 · 15/08/2013 16:17

Also adding about anniversaries, I conceived on my 2nd anniversary according to my dates :-)

mimili · 15/08/2013 16:19

My second anniversary was yesterday!

Coolhand · 15/08/2013 16:31

Good scan news here and now it actually feels real. I had a super active baby in the womb who was kicking and waving non stop.

V positive experience at the hospital as well. If pregnancy progression is fine, They will be super supportive of my decision for VBAC, will be happy for me not to have CFM and will use the handheld monitor instead and even said they would be happy to let me have a water birth which I thought was going to be a definite no. They booked me in to have a chat with a senior midwife at 29 weeks when we have a clearer idea of how pregnancy is progressing and we can look at birth options together. So pleased!

Oh and on full bladders, mine was too full and obscuring the scan. Told me to go and empty half of it -starting and stopping peeing when you really need to go is not easy! She told me no need for full bladder at 20 weeks.

In terms of dates, my doc had me down as 5th March (as he was working off 28 day cycle and mine is only 25). Baby today measured 3rd March but she said we can just leave it at 5th March as that is close enough.

Edamame · 15/08/2013 16:31

I'm not married Shock
But we have been together for a whole year Grin

Smillie0 · 15/08/2013 16:32

Our first anniversary is on Sunday I'll be 10+4.
We are going to Devon to pick up a new purchase, its all very romantic!!

Frank what good news, bet you can't wait.

Does anyone know roughly how long I should expect to be at the hospital for 12 week scan? DH may or may not be at work, he is talking about taking an extended lunch break if he is, I think it might be a very long lunch.

F&T

HotCrossPun · 15/08/2013 16:35

While all this Anniversary chat is going on it will be mine and DP's on the day of our scan (21st). Tis going to be a good day Smile

HotCrossPun · 15/08/2013 16:37

wuxia Scan buddies!!

LyraSilvertongue · 15/08/2013 16:52

Edamame, we're not married either and have only been together for a year.

LyraSilvertongue · 15/08/2013 17:00

Hotcross and Wux, we're all scan buddies Smile

SmillieO, my letter says to allow an hour for the scan. I don't know how it can take that long. I don't remember previous 12-week scans taking so long.

apprenticemamma · 15/08/2013 17:02

happily unmarried, together eight years....cart before the horse as darling catholic mother says Wink !

RaspberrysAndIcecream · 15/08/2013 17:05

Hi Ladies,
I'm de-lurking to say hello!! I didn't want to join until we'd had our early scan, which we had today.
I'm 8+3, due March 24th.

I just wondered if u could answer a question for me? Are any of u going to Kings for ur 12 week scan? How quickly did u get a scan date?
I already have a date for my local hospital but my gp referred me to kings - I'm getting impatient to know when my scan will be!!

HotCrossPun · 15/08/2013 17:05

Less than a week to go Lyra. I don't think I've ever been so excited for anything!

All of you who still haven't joined the FB group need to come on over, there is scan pictures and bump pictures galore Grin
