Just Shagging Grads, here is your shiny new Fred!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw plenty of births and we've got loads of new Grads to add to the mix. Bring on the TMI posts, the midnight moans, the birthwatches and the pom poms!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 17th thread.

It is busy! And at the moment we are all a bunch of worriers anyway! Lets hide in here... Did frog never make her way over?

DulcetMoans · 15/05/2014 21:56

Just saw you stuff about appraisal tomorrow - thought I would reply here.

Depends on your relationship with the manager I guess. I have wondered the same thing as I am leading on a number of changes so now I need to put a time limit on that. I will probably tell before 12 weeks to my director but not yet. Maybe some time after early scan. If you have the opportune itty to do it in the right environment tomorrow though then it could be an idea. Maybe you could pitch it as 'this is the situation, I don't feel ready to discuss it in detail yet but I wanted to make you aware'? I think its dependant on the person and work culture though.

JuniDD · 15/05/2014 22:09

Evening!
I still haven't told work. They are being nasty bastards to me atm so I think I'll leave it til it's really obvious or the statutory time...then start my mat leave four weeks later. BOOYAH! I did tell one more colleague who was really excited. I do find it weird how excited people get but I don't know if that's me being a nasty cynical old cowbag in general...?

furry how are you still in normal clothes?! I got some mat jeans at 7 weeks and I was so happy...grown out of them a bit now too!

ness so sorry about all these bleeding. Nothing like on the same scale but when I had minor bleeding at 8 weeks over couple of days I had A Word with the embryo "stop making mummy bleed!" and it did. Worth a try?! I really hope that's the end of it though, it sounds terrifying.

I could never get on with the ante-natal threads, so many people all worrying so much it made me really stressed out.

RPopz · 15/05/2014 22:18

I'm not his biggest fan but he's very professional so I'm sure he'll be discrete. Plus I don't really work in an environment where its acceptable to discriminate on the grounds of upduffage- which judging by some.of the things I've read on here I'm pretty lucky with. The only thing that's putting me off slightly is the promotion that is coming up. I was going to apply (and prob still will) but I'm sure being pg will not make the ideal candidate! But since its STILL not been advertised I suppose I can't. wait forever.

FurryScoob · 15/05/2014 22:33

Hope you've got your feet up ness & are taking it easy.

3 weeks of puking at even the slightest smell of food is probably the reason I'm still in normal clothes. Im making up for it now, had 2 days of eating like a pig & now sat watching telly with my belly out!

RPopz · 15/05/2014 22:38

Grin scoob

DulcetMoans · 15/05/2014 22:46

Ah see that changes me opinion popz! A potential promotion would mean I would keep it to myself longer. I'd hate to think the reason you don't get a job you deserve is because you are pregnant. A girl at work kept it secret until 5mnths while she got her promotion sorted and I don't blame her at all! Do you have any timescales for promotion?

Not the best diet then scoob! Glad you're feeling better.

Some people just love babies I think juni. MIL gets excited when my friends are pregnant and she's never met them! She will ask about them every week!

Nessalina · 16/05/2014 01:31

Glad the epic vom stage has gone by Scoob - hurrah for stuffing your face!
I agree with the scariness of the antenatal threads. They're kinda good to gauge how other people are feeling and see if stuff you're experiencing is normal, but no one seems to care about anyone. It's like posting diary entries, people don't respond to each other, there's no real care IYSWIM?
I'm pretty big at 15+2, totally loving my maternity jeans Grin Still feeling very delicate of stomach here, didn't manage much tea tonite, and I've had the runs all day Confused Not sure if it's baby-related or if I've got a bit of a bug maybe.
Very confused by my cervix Hmm I've had dark brown spotting all day, then just woken up after about 3hrs sleep and there's a bit more dark blood. Seems like it's oozing slightly all the time, but overnight it's building up and giving me a fright in the mornings! I go on holiday on Saturday for a week, in the uk at least, but a bit worried to be away from my hospital. They've been so lovely, they said to keep ringing if there's more bleeding and if I'm not local they'll try to sort me out somewhere closer to go. What I have found weird is that they won't do an ultrasound, only Doppler tests. They keep saying, oh well we won't scan you til 20 weeks now - but what if there's something they could see on the scan that would explain the bleeding? Seems weird to me that they don't. Maybe they had people fake it just to get an extra scan?!
Ah well I should probably try to get back to sleep Smile Sorry for epic post!

JuniDD · 16/05/2014 07:40

It's like posting diary entries, people don't respond to each other, there's no real care IYSWIM? ness that's exactly it! Like a bulletin board or something like that, not really friendly at all!

It seems really weird to me that they won't scan you, have you asked them why not directly? Or maybe go to your GP and request a referral or something? They do seem really tight with the scans, I had to kick up a bit of a fuss to get my early scan.

sorry about the puking furry time to make up for it now!

RPopz · 16/05/2014 08:06

Ness that is exactly how I feel about the antenatal freds - you can't seem to get in a conversation with anyone so it seems pointless to keep checking in on it. And there's so many people on it. Can't imagine how many threads we'll go through in 9 months!

Dulce the department manager sent an email round about the promotion before I was pg!! But they're advertising it externally and it still hasn't gone out yet. So god knows how much longer it'll take. I kinda feel like if I did get offered it, I'd have to tell them there and then I was pg anyway and risk my reputation (why didn't you tell us earlier etc etc). Don't know what to do for the best really.

RPopz · 16/05/2014 08:08

Ness perhaps if you mention the holiday they'll scan you for peace of mind before you go?? Are you going abroad?

DulcetMoans · 16/05/2014 09:01

It's tough popz. Maybe you will need to play it a little by ear and see how the appraisal goes. Its mainly the promotion thing that would put me off but theres really a finite time you have to apply for that before it wild be obvious anyway. The girl I mention told them she was pregnant two seconds after they offered her the job - she did it straight away but just didn't let them know before the decision was made.

Agree with your definition as well ness. It's hard to build a relationship with anyone in there as well. I will probably still read though cos I am crazy and can't stop reading stuff!. Don't understand the scan thing either, but it could be that its to stop people trying to get scans all the time. Doesn't stop you worrying though.

6 weeks today - size of a pea!! Grin

DulcetMoans · 16/05/2014 16:08

Voicemail from midwife! Argh!!! That feels a bit real. Although I am putting off calling her back for some reason...

RPopz · 16/05/2014 18:09

Have you already seen her? Its not test results or something is it??

Told line manager and lab manager and they were both amazing about it. (Also said I'm a v strong candidate for the senior job and can/ should still apply - whether it'll cloud their decision is out of my hands now I guess). Feels all the more real for them knowing!!

Mega nauseous and retchy again today... is there some scientific reason why the only thing that eases it is starchy salty crappy food!!? Fruit makes me heave to even think of. Just had a bag of hula hoops! Don't think I've eaten crisps in about a decade Shock

Minion · 16/05/2014 18:25

Yes, cheese chips and crisps are my go to, too.
You are not alone xx

JuniDD · 16/05/2014 18:41

Ah, sounds good on the job Rpopz. I lived on macaroni cheese ready meals for the first five or so weeks after 6 weeks. I couldn't look at it now and feel quite disgusted with myself! I need to stop eating so much sugar but rarely fancy fruit/veg sticks... Need to sort that out or I'll be giving birth to a sugar addict!

DulcetMoans · 16/05/2014 19:32

Is there any science behind craving stuff your body needs? EG. maybe you don't have enough salt so you crave it to get more. Its something i've heard but no idea if its right or not!

I've not seen her popz, it was to make booking in appointment I expect. My midwife is called Jenny! Haven't been able to speak to her again. Annoyed at myself for ignoring the phone now - thought it was work!

Great news on the work stuff popz! Bet it feels better to have it out there as well. Did they say when the job would go up?

Nessalina · 16/05/2014 19:35

Evening all Smile Just had another 3hr nap Shock I totally need to rein in the sleeping!! About 4pm I just go into a sicky decline and the only thing that fixes it is sleep! Slight issue when I'm about to go on a week's narrow boat holiday...
Really thought the bleurgh would have let up by now Hmm
On the plus side, this morning was pretty much blood-free, just a little old brown stuff (Mmmm lovely!) which was a big relief.
How's everyone else feeling? Smile
I'm going to raid the fridge (thinking about a big slab o' cheese on toast!) and watch Masterchef!

Nessalina · 16/05/2014 19:37

Ooh how thrilling Dulcet, I never got calls from my midwife! That's quite cool.
Glad you're feeling better about work situation Rpopz. It's a bugger for us women isn't it? I know they're not allowed to use maternity as a reason not to give someone a job, you can't help but feel that they'd try their best... I'd deffo still go for it though!

RPopz · 16/05/2014 20:00

Maybe Dulce. Craving really cold water and ice cubes too... I am a walking cliche haha! I feel pretty bad about the state of my diet these past couple of days. I was all about "feeding the baby" before but now it seems just be just whatever my brain is currently thinking will cure the nausea (which is inevitably refined carbohydrate based!!) I guess everyone's got to do it to get by. Hopefully all those months of being saintly whilst ttc will stand me in good stead! Pizza for tea Wink

Good news on the bleeding Ness - hopefully its fully buggered off in time for your hols. Hope you don't get seasick! Envy Grin

Nessalina · 16/05/2014 22:30

Lol, yeah, me too Blush Barge-sickness would be a problem!

FurryScoob · 17/05/2014 06:10

Gggggrrrrrr why am I awake so early again?
I thought pregnant women slept loads hugging maternity pillows according to my bounty pack crap but I'm awake early every day even tho I'm knackered. No sign of this blooming & glowing stage kicking in either I've got spots sprouting in all directions.

Ness have a good holiday, there's loads of narrow boats around us, they look very calm & relaxing.

Anyone else doing anything nice while the suns out?

Nessalina · 17/05/2014 07:14

YY to the stupid early waking Confused
Though mine is probably linked to the stupid massive napping I keep doing Blush
Made it til 7am today at least - now it's packing time! Holiday holiday! Grin

RPopz · 17/05/2014 07:56

Well I am supposed to be working this morning but my genius husband has gone to work with both sets of house keys.....

Also woke at 4.45am with Let it Snow stuck in my head.... Hmm

RPopz · 17/05/2014 07:57
