Hi all! Providing the ladies who are currently in hospital don't give birth before the last 20 posts in our old thread, we've made it to a new one with babies all still staying put for now!

Here's the stats thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/a1694946-September-2013-STATS-THREAD

Welcome newbies! If anyone wants to join the FB group (better for sharing documents and pictures), please message myself or jennimoo with your real life name and email address and we can add you to the group!

This thread is moving so fast I am struggling to keep up at the moment!

Rake- I think you asked about weights at birth- Megan was 5lb 4 and Luke was 5lb 8. In the picture Megan is on the left.

Latest- Luke is now fine and no issues or concerns any more :) Megan has maintained her weight in the last 24 hours and the expectation is that when she is weighed again at midday tomorrow she will have begun to put weight on- if so we can all go home... Keep everything crossed for us....

kimjayne · 20/08/2013 22:36

Glad it wasn't just me then WaggyBlueElf! Regretting watching it a little now. It must be such a hard job being a midwife sometimes. My heart stopped for a moment when the twins were born .... So glad the little troopers made it through! They were gorgeous. Had a teary moment when they showed the bedrooms for families suffering loss. Not sure il watch again next week! Far too emotional.

Wincher · 20/08/2013 22:58

Evening all! I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow, feels like a good milestone to reach. I have my booking in with the home birth midwife too - not sure if she'll deliver the kit at that point or what.

In terms of internals, last time round in the mlu I had one in triage to check I was in established labour, and then they told me they would only do thievery 4 hours. I was a bit missed off because I was 3-4cm on arrival and they told me I could go in the pool at 5cm, and I had visions of it being too late in four hours time. It wasn't - after 4 hours was still only 5cm! Dispiriting.

I'm not plannIng to do a birth plan this time, though will talk to the midwife about itntomorrw.

WaggyBlueElf · 20/08/2013 23:10

The bereavement rooms set me off as well. How awful that they'd be necessary, but how lovely they're there. A friend of mine has just been through a loss like that couple as well, so I had a little cry at them too. I will still probably watch next week though, i'm a bit of a glutton for punishment!

Depress - fingers crossed you'll be taking your little one's home tomorrow. I had a look at the pic earlier, they're absolutely beautiful. Congratulations again.

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow so really not long now. Scary!

RunningBear78 · 21/08/2013 02:45

Sigh, awake again in the middle of the night for no reason. Gutted as I thought I was on a roll sleeping through.

Currently lying here seething about a colleague taking advantage of my experience and research to apply for a job, which he got. Grrrr. He asked for some details about a piece of research implying that it was work related, I provided loads of useful info and background there is no way he could have found himself and it turns out it was for a job interview not anything work related! Bastard. Vurren

jennimoo · 21/08/2013 03:04

I'm awake too. Indigestion, super-hot and hips aching too badly to lie down for now...
Will have to read for a bit, chew gaviscon, and hope to feel sleepy again soon :(

JammyTummy · 21/08/2013 07:36

Hormonal preggo alert- managed to fall out with DH first thing this morning as he wouldn't get out of his bath to go and scoop up the giant slug I found on the wall down the stairs. Following that I sat on the stairs and sobbed at the offending beast. He is still there...

badguider · 21/08/2013 08:38

Ah bugger! Got a really sore throat :(
Not been around anybody suck that I know of but no doubting the swollen gland and painful swallowing.
37+6 today.
Still I suppose it gives me a good fortnight to get over it. Could do without it though :(

badguider · 21/08/2013 08:39

That should say anybody sick not suck!!

Readytosettle · 21/08/2013 08:47

Just watched midwives....cried my eyes out from start to finish. Always good to get it out of ur system ;-)

fl0b0t · 21/08/2013 09:12

Missed midwives! What channel so I can watch between naps on maternity leave ;)

On my second to last long train journey for work right now and sleeping like a log (baby isn't! ) seems I sleep well on public transport with a stranger to dribble on. ... might spend the first few weeks of mat leave on the train!

Readytosettle · 21/08/2013 09:40

BBC2...it's on iplayer so u can catch up. Also a new series of Don't tell the Bride has started on bbc3 :-)

MrsMangoBiscuit · 21/08/2013 09:41

You'll have no time to watch anything fl0, what with all the sleeping, CV writing and worrying about your impending doom! Grin BBC2 btw.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 21/08/2013 09:52

there you go then fl0 - use your mat leave to take long train journeys if that's the way to get your sleeps! You could hire a bus to drive round and round and round your area if you don't want to end up too far from home... Grin

I had a poor night's sleep - my one hour nap yesterday afternoon and not having really expended any energy during the day meant I laid down at 11pm not completely tired. DH and I had just had a slightly over-stimulating conversation about finances, investments, mortgages and tax offsets (I said stimulating, not fascinating!) and I couldn't get to sleep. The late night baby party kicked off as normal, and then a few really painful BHs where the cramp extended down to my upper thighs, and a little bit around to my back. Briefly considered the possibility that This Was It but decided to continue trying to fall asleep. Woke up this morning and everything back to normal. Boring.

39+1

Mooster1709 · 21/08/2013 10:16

Jammy that is very very funny.

Am 39 weeks tomorrow too waggy... terrifying!

jennimoo · 21/08/2013 10:18

I've been having some cramps then contractiony things but trying not to track or dwell on them after Saturdays extreme disappointment. Have just had a half hour walk with DH and DD and in a bit they're off out for a few hours so I might nap if things don't kick off. Trying not to be hopeful but loads of bits of plug today...

RunningBear78 · 21/08/2013 10:23

Very unhelpful 36 week appointment yesterday. Midwife ummed a bit about very tiny growth of bump since last appointment, and gave me a talking to about my overly fruity/sugary breakfast and high glucose in my wee Blush. Saw the consultant about anxiety/depression issues, and despite having actually been fine, she was so blunt and unsympathetic it left me in tears! I didn't think the 'don't worry it isn't certain you'll get PND' was particularly well phrased. ho hum. And that was basically it. No discussion about birth plans or anything like that, which I was expecting and had persuaded dh to come along to discuss. Anyway, back of to the hospital in a mo for a (hopefully unnecessary) growth scan.

Feeling very tired and hormonal after last nights total lack of sleep, so this may not go well.

ION I have been drinking the odd raspberry leaf tea - about half a mug most days for the past week - and over the same time have started to get a really achy bump. I know it is supposed to increase the strength of BH's and tone the uterus for labour, but SURELY that little can't do anything!? The suggested 'dose' is about 4 cups a day. Is anyone else Raspberry leaf tea-ing? Does it actually do anything or do BHs get more noticeable anyway? They don't feel like contractions or anything, and my bump is permanently hard so I can't tell if it is BH-ing or not. All very strange.

Oh ... and I seem to have developed gigantic nipples in the last few days - absolutely terrifying!

flipflump · 21/08/2013 10:55

Running, how disappointing, I often wish they'd think before they speak.

I have the opposite problem with being measured as they're concerned about how huge this bump is. Anyway, this week tape measure said 38 weeks, a fortnight ago 41 weeks!!!! Take the tape measure with a pinch of salt. Enjoy your scan, just think of it as an extra sneaky look at your beautiful baby, it's the last time you'll see him/her on the inside. Most people haven't seen what's going on in there since 20 weeks.

MammaJandJ · 21/08/2013 11:53

Hie and congrats to all the new mums. Thought i will introduce myself again. Im 35 weeks and expecting dd2. I have a ds who is 6. Due on the 20th and counting down the days now.
Congrats to all the new mamas and enjoy your cuddles. Cant wait for my princess:(

LotsaTuddles · 21/08/2013 12:20

I'm 36+1. Been having a few cramps quite low down, and had a couple of poos today (sorry TMI, but hoping this is "the clear out")

Currently doing the ironing so hopefully gravity will help, I'm far too uncomfortable and hot to be enjoying this at the moment, so would just like baby to be born.

We're moving house 4 days before due date, so would be quite useful if I had baby while still living in iLs especially as they have wood floors everywhere and am slightly less worried about ruining their floor as I would be my nice new carpet.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 21/08/2013 12:31

Hi MammaJandJ, dive right in! Waiting for due date or are you on the raspberry leaf and all that?? I'm actually due next week but that was brought forward at my scan, LMP due date was in Sept.

PurplePoppySeed · 21/08/2013 13:15

running I've just had exactly the same thing - saw a different midwife to normal and she measured me saying I was a bit small (34cm at 36 weeks), I then mentioned that I thought it was similar to my last appointment at which point she got worried, suggested I go back next week for another measure and then maybe a scan.. but then after checking my file apparently I've grown from 33cm to 34cm in 2 weeks and thats fine?!?!?! I don't understand their thinking on this - either I'm small or I'm not, either way, baby is kicking and I'm secretly thinking, good, a smaller head to push out ;)

I am also seeing my independent midwife this afternoon, I checked her notes, and she made me 33.5cm two weeks ago, so she'll probably say I haven't grown at all - argh!

I watched the midwives last night too.... the twins bit was so hard to watch and they made it seem worse by showing the babies looking as they did, I don't think I'll watch it again, too scary.

Dorita75 · 21/08/2013 13:20

Gorgeous babies depress!

I've bought raspberry leaf tea but not had any yet, keep forgetting to google it and see what the recommended dose is and when to start....will look at that now though at 37+4 I think I'm fine to start!

Thanks for the new Don't tell the bride tip whoever said that, will record it to watch during the day when the shit tv is on!

PurplePoppySeed · 21/08/2013 13:27

ps. Hi MammaJandJ do you know you're having a girl? I'm team yellow and getting the room ready has been fun!

EmmaDee · 21/08/2013 13:42

Hi mamaj

I had my 34 week appointment today though I am 35 weeks! My midwife is a bit confusing, she said that as long as my bump was above 29.5 cm then that's ok, I asked is it not a cm per week and she said no.

She couldnt tell me what way the baby is, or any other information really! Hopefully I'll get a bit more out of her at the next appointment!
