Urrrgh can't sleep tonight. Think I'm worried about doppler/growth scan tomorrow. Just can't switch myself off.

GTbaby · 30/07/2013 00:59

Pseudo it will be fine. My sleeplessness tonight it going to be caused by dh drunk snoring and the mini roll and gold bar I ate with my milk right before getting to bed.

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 07:38

Good luck with appointments today pseudo and falcon.

It's my birthday today. I don't have a very exciting day planned - waiting in for kiddicare and a carpenter to shave the bottom off our bedroom doors! Then a nice meal and a glass of shloer at home with DH tonight. We thought about having friends over or a meal out in London but what I really wanted was some quiet time at home with DH.

The weather has cooled down enough for me to get on with knitting my blanket so I want to get a big chunk of that done today.

pinkbuttons · 30/07/2013 08:03

Hope all goes ok today pseudo amd that you managed to get some sleep.

Happy Birthday orange sounds lovely, especially as its meant to rain all day so can hibernate and knit with something on tv Grin
First night of full sleep in about a month here (and think I feel more tired than I did before!) Confused

legallyblond · 30/07/2013 08:07

Not a full night's sleep here. DD up about four times with bad dreams, poor thing. Still, a dry night after a few wet beds, so that's good!

Good luck with appointments today. Keep us posted.

Slippysnow · 30/07/2013 08:36

Good luck with the apps.

Happy birthday, sounds like my kind of night at the moment too!

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 08:36

Happy birthday Orange!
I hope Falcon is ok today?
My scan is at 12.40 and then I have to wait around to see the midwife at 2...
I eventually fell asleep but was a bad night, also my nose was really blocked which was strange.

claphammama · 30/07/2013 08:46

good luck with appointments pseudo and falcon

and happy happy birthday orange! hope you have a lovely night in.

We are off on holidays later today so just doing some last minute packing. A nice rainy day for traveling. The resort has wi-fi so I'm sure I will be checking in now and then. No way I will be able to keep up with this thread though! take care x

roofio87 · 30/07/2013 08:51

Good luck with appointments today and happy birthday Orange!!

Warlin · 30/07/2013 09:00

clap I'm hoping for less tearing this time round too. Last time I had about 8 stitches. Have a vague memory of my consultant putting something up my bum too but I think it was a pessary..no idea what it was for but he did it during 3rd stage I think. Was too passed out to really notice or care tbh.

I was really sore after but I don't cope well with pain generally! I did witch hazel and tee tree baths. I kept telling the midwife I was fine as I didn't really want examined but then it kept hurting so dh took a look and ended up cleaning up and bathing it Blush Love is!!

MoN one week...madness!!! Just a word of warning re contraception afterwards..you are very fertile for a full year after giving birth so be ultra careful or take advantage whatever you look at it. After trying to conceive ds for almost 2 years, I was a little surprised that one night resulted in this baby...pleased but surprised!!! A number of my friends have less than a year between kids for this very reason!

slippy I did try perineal massage once last time but it didn't feel right!

falcon good luck today

ani I take the pregnacare supplements which come with Omega 3 capsules as well. I eat fish but not meat and have stepped up the mackeral and salmon intake.

Anyone else totally fed up in work??! The next 5 weeks are going to drag, I just know it!

Ordered lots of things online from Mothercare and got text from courier last night to say it would be delivered between 7.30am and 5pm today! What are you supposed to do when you work? It's ridiculous. I bet they want a signature so won't just leave it at the door. Hate that about ordering online, why can't it just come Royal Mail as our postman always leaves things in the porch.

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 09:07

Happy Birthday Orange

Good luck pseudo and Falcon. Hoping all your worry has been for nothing.

Off to the library soon with youngest dd. I've decided that I'm going to do nothing but laze around and read in these last renainng week's.
Dp is working all day, home for a quick dinner and then straight out to a night shift so can read in bed whilst eating tiramisu. Probably what will happen is that dd will come into bed with me and I'll fall asleep reading all her new library books to her.

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 09:11

I think I'm going to get sterilised at the same time as my c-section warlin. The only thing stopping me is the thought that if the worst happens and Eliana doesn't survive then I've taken dp's chance of having a child of his own away from him.

PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 09:17

MoN I looked into that briefly and I think the success rate for sterilisation during c section is slightly lower than for one that isn't during a section. So maybe look into that?

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 09:28

*Pseudo. My consultant said that they would prefer to wait until 6 wks after the birth to do it incase the baby doesn't survive and I end up regretting my decision. He didn't say it would be any less successful but I'll investigate.
I would prefer to have it done during my section as I hate general anaesthetics and also 6 weeks later I'd just be starting to recover from the c-section op and then going through another one. I can't really afford a hospital stay with a new baby and 4 others dc's to consider.
I've never found a method of contraception that really works for me so I feel it's my only option.

star87 · 30/07/2013 09:28

Hi

I was just looking for a bit of advice...

Since last night I've had period type pains. They come and go - I'll have it constantly for about 15 minutes and then it'll go for a few minutes and then come back. I thought it might be braxtons hicks but I'm no getting any tightening, just constant mild pain.

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow, should I call her today or is this normal?

roxvox · 30/07/2013 09:33

Happy Birthday Orange! Sounds like my kind of day too Smile

Hope you have a fantastic holiday clapham, I for one am very jealous!

Warlin can you contact the courier company and ask them to leave it in your porch, or if they require a signature then leave it with a neighbour? I find it really frustrating too, and I just know that my Babies-r-us delivery will be here tomorrow when I am working in the office (working from home today).

roxvox · 30/07/2013 09:35

star87 I am not very clued up on all of this (first timer), but I would say that you should get in touch with your midwife today.

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 09:37

Star I would give your midwife or antenatal department a ring and ask them what they think just to be sure. Do have the number on your notes?

star87 · 30/07/2013 09:46

I'm a first timer too so everything scares me! Baby is still doing plenty of kicks and moving around which is making me feel a little less anxious. But with this still seeming so new I don't know what's normal and what isn't!

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 09:57

Braxton hicks can feel like period pains or the pains could be caused by stretching, a growth spurt is normal around now.
I would still give the antenatal department a ring to put your mind at rest.

Prisci · 30/07/2013 10:12

On the omega front, i had various advice from OB and MW, but i have been taking them on top of my pregnancy supplement but always making sure that the fish oil used to make them has been filtered (the mercury and all the other heavy metals have been removed, it is usually written at the back of the bottle if it is the case), they are more expensive but worth it for the peace of mind.

Flyer747 · 30/07/2013 10:23

Morning, last night I lasted until 1030pm dp and I left and came back to the hotel my feet were killing.

Happy Birthday Orange have a great day.

Star it's worth calling the ante natal dept I've always found them helpful and may help reassure you.

Clapham have a lovely holiday.

MoN have you tried a mirena coil as a form of contraception? The pill never agrees with me, I either forgot to take it or with me being on different time zones every week I didn't think it would be sufficent. I had 2 in, they were great, can stay in upto 5 years and I never got pregnant whilst having one in.

star87 · 30/07/2013 10:28

Hi all, thanks for your lovely advice. I have just spoken to a midwife at the hospital and they have said to take a couple of paracetamol and have a warm bath and if nothing changes within half an hour to call them back.

Flyer747 · 30/07/2013 10:28

Oh and is anyone else having this symptom I am experiencing.

If I eat a lot of food as I did yesterday I find when I lie down it seems to be sat very heavy on my tummy which currently feels like its in my chest, it's not heartburn but makes me feel very sick almost like I could vomit and very uncomfy! And it takes ages for it to go away talking hours...

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 10:47

Yes flyer I have that too.
