star half an hour?! That doesn't sound very long to notice any change. If you are getting any pain at frequent intervals I would go up and get checked. Not to scare you but if it is early labour you don't want to let it progress as they can give you drugs to prevent it for a bit and steroids for the baby's lungs just in case. I know it can be hard to tell and it could just be BH but if you can I would go and get checked out. You don't want labour (if that's what it is) progressing.

moN sterilisation can be reversed can it not? Don't think like that as it's incredibly unlikely but just in case. My cousin had a cot death many years ago and my aunt got sterilised as a reaction to it. A couple of years later she wanted another child, had it reversed and had 2 more. She had her tubes tied...is that still what they do? Not sure what we'll do contraception wise as dh is adament we aren't having any more. I def don't want sterilised and not sure I want him done either "just in case" so need to find a contraception method that works and doesn't make me crazy :)

Sounds awful as I never take days and have't had any in the last few years but I really feel like pulling a sicky and just having a day at home to relax. I never get time to myself and feel so shattered. Would be bliss as ds would be at nursery and dh at work. Is it wrong to plan one for next week? I'd prob just end up sitting at home feeling guilty as I do that even when I work from home.

rox I think it does need a signature so I might ring them tmw if there is a card left. Our neighbours aren't that close and will prob be at work too. I wish they could just leave it. I normally give dh's work address for delivery but baby brain in action meant I didn't think. It's a real pain.

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 10:53

I had a mirena coil for 4 years before I ended up pulling it out myself when we were ttc.
I just felt contstantly pregnant, had severe back ache and fatigue and all my IBS symptoms were worse, just like when pregnant. It made it really hard to control my weight too. I lost 4 lbs the week I took it out without trying.
I don't want to risk anything hormonal again.

roxvox · 30/07/2013 10:54

I get similar Flyer, in that if I eat too much (and it doesn't seem as though very much is too much a lot of the time) then I get extreme pain under my rib cage as though it is trying to expand rapidly. If I eat too much fatty food then it is 10x worse; there have been a few occasions where it has been so painful that I have been unable to walk. Obviously I have learnt my lesson there though and so eat less/try not to eat too many burgers.

I had been on the pill for 10 years, but was taken off it due to DVT concerns (they tried putting me on an alternative that is safe or something, but it gave me migraines). It just so happens that I was taken off it just a few months before DH and I had intended to start trying for a family, so we were just careful for those few months before we were ready to start trying properly! After our baby is born I think that having a coil fitted would be a good move for me. Does anyone know how soon after giving birth I would be able to look to get a coil fitted?

Happy Birthday orange Flowers

Hope all settles down star

Good Luck for all those with appointments today.

I have no idea what we will do for contraception!

It probably makes me sound like a mad woman, but I don't want to get sterilised, and dh doesn't want the snip (and nor do I want him to..... it just seems so final)

Can't have anything hormonal, and I don't think they will give me another copper coil......

Hate condoms!!

Any ideas (apart from avoiding sex!! Grin) ?

cazboldy · 30/07/2013 10:59

roxvox -if your doctors does it they may do it at your 6 week check. I had to go to the family planning clinic for mine, and it had to be after my 6 week check, so think it was about 8-9 weeks after dd2.

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 10:59

It can be reversed but isn't always successful and wouldn't be available on NHS. My own mum had her sterilisation reversed to have me and then went in to have twins 14mths later.

I think I was told to wait 3 mths to have a coil fitted roxvox

Slippysnow · 30/07/2013 11:05

flyer i think I also had what you were describing, for me it felt like my oesophagus was really short and my stomach was close to my mouth making me feel like I was on the verge of being sick, it lasted for a couple of days. So I wonder whether it was baby's position combined with the organs rejiggling to accommodate his size. I don't want it to come back, I didn't enjoy the feeling to say the least - sips of water were the only thing that made me feel slightly better. But, thinking about it now, milk might be worth a try to combat the acidy taste.

roxvox · 30/07/2013 11:35

Thanks caz and MoN, I might ask the midwife at a later appointment and see what she suggests.

Well I'm on my way for my day at the hospital for a fun old time of scan, blood tests, whooping cough jab and anti d as well. I'll be like a pin cushion!! Got soaked getting to the tube too.

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 12:01

Hopefully the scan part at least will be nice, I hope all is well.

Natalieand · 30/07/2013 12:08

Weather is terrible here too psuedo

Good luck to those with appts today x

Wrt:contraception I had the implant in my arm and had that removed when we started ttc I always thought it was responsible for my migraines but I'm still suffering from them now so now I'm not so sure and tbh I rarely have any kind of bleeding/period on the implant so I will probly just opt for that again as I have a BMI I'm not allowed the pill as it increases the risk of a dvt

I feel terrible today, shanky headachey tired tearful. Hopefully just one of those days and will pass tommorow

warlin I don't think its selfish to 'plan' a sick day at least that way u can organise any bits u no u won't be there for and you won't be pregnant forever so if u need a day of rest then definately take one x

Flyer747 · 30/07/2013 12:21

Hope all goes well pseudo look forward to hearing your update with good news xx

legallyblond · 30/07/2013 13:02

No form of contraception agrees with me, so we have to use condoms. The combined pill (tried two types) was bad - apparently I am allergic to man made oestrogen so bled continuously while on both (ie months at a time!). Was on the progesterone only pull for a year or so, but it was fairly hideous. It was like constant pmt/early pregnancy - hugeboobs, terrible mood swings, sweats, weight gain etc. So we stick to condoms. No choice really!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 30/07/2013 13:03

We never sorted out contraception after ds and hence here we are! Definitely got caught out!! Everytime we dtd I thought really must sort out contraception but as I was breastfeeding I thought I was a bit protected- stupid me!!! I hate the pill though and the coil and condoms so not sure what we will do.
Good luck with all the appts today.

TheFalconsmistress · 30/07/2013 13:08

Im the same as you re, contraception legally but I have a added problem that dh has a very large girth penis so majority of condoms dont fit will need to order some ones that do fit before dtd again.

pseudo I really hope your scan goes well mine is ten to three im nervous tbh

legallyblond · 30/07/2013 13:12

Any news from Falcon? Bit worried as (and first timers take note around 40 weeks!) an upset tummy for no reason is fairly classic the day before labour kicks off....

legallyblond · 30/07/2013 13:12

Ah Falcon! You're fine then!!! X

MotherOfNations · 30/07/2013 13:13

Condoms aren't even an option for me as they always give me thrush.

Stop boasting Falcon Grin

Flyer747 · 30/07/2013 13:18

Falcon you lucky girl GrinGrin

Good Luck with your appointment today too I hope all is positive for you

I will probably have a coil as I seem to be quite fertile...one unplanned pregnancy (a few years ago) ended in a termination and I never ever want to go through that again, an awful time emotionally. Then when dp and I decided to try for a baby got pregnant straight away both times, first time ended in mc, second is this one and so far so good...Smile

BowlFullofJelly · 30/07/2013 13:21

I have a added problem that dh has a very large girth penis

Best post on the thread so far I think Smile

Natalieand · 30/07/2013 13:24

I'd call that a bonus not a problem lol

BowlFullofJelly · 30/07/2013 13:26

Certainly after Dc2 Natalie Grin (puerile)

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 13:36
Confused
PseudoBadger · 30/07/2013 14:00

Just LOL at Falcon!! Good luck for your scan.

Well growth is fine but increased amniotic fluid so I'm waiting to see what the midwife says in a minute. Numbers look borderline for polyhydramnios.

OrangeBlossom2 · 30/07/2013 14:17

Glad growth is fine falcon, let us know what the midwife says. I hope you don't have too long to wait to be seen.
