LeeHandy · 30/07/2013 07:07

thedemented, yes it's my first. does the terror show already? Grin
I actually went to the gym yesterday and my lovely trainer had a lot of advice about the kind of exercises I should be doing. I have decided to go as long as I can and if it gets to a point where I can't go 2 weeks in a row, then I will cancel.
on the train to work, feeling nauseous. hope I can resist!Shock

FoxMulder · 30/07/2013 08:32

Yeah, that's right Lee (about my hospital situation). I know a couple of people who have had to be transferred from the MLU to one of the main hospitals while in labour. I know of another who had a lovely labour in the MLU though! It probably a much nicer atmosphere than a hospital, but I just wish there was the option of an epidural!

Trinpy · 30/07/2013 11:29

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on here since Friday but too scared to post until now! I'm 4 weeks pregnant, dd is 8th April. Was TTC since April last year, first bfp last month which sadly ended in mc at 5.5 weeks, then became pregnant again straight away! Very nervous but starting to feel a lot more positive about this pregnancy.

I have an appointment with a fertility clinic in 2 weeks time to discuss treatment, which I'm still too scared to cancel. And I also start a new job in 2 weeks - not a great start to be 6 weeks pregnant on my first day Confused .

Very excited to be here and looking forward to the next 8 months Smile .

BartBaby · 30/07/2013 12:42

Welcome trinpy same dd as me Smile sorry about your mc. Fx for a sticky bean this time.

Anyone else feeling really crampy? Feels like af pains today. Im sure its normal. But cant help be a little worried...

FoxMulder · 30/07/2013 13:05

Welcome Trinpy! And congrats!

I got that a lot, Bart at the very beginning. Not so much now I'm about 6+2. Not that I know whether this is good or bad though!

Do you know if I should be counting from my LMP, even though I ov'd on day 17, or should I be counting from 14 days prior to ov?

Trinpy · 30/07/2013 13:18

bart I have had af cramps since my bfp. They've been so strong during the night I keep waking up thinking af has arrived. Everything I've read says it is completely normal and just growing pains.

fox if you know ov date then I would count from then.

FoxMulder · 30/07/2013 13:20

Bugger, that puts me 3 days later then. I knew that was probably the answer, I just didn't want it to be!

Trinpy · 30/07/2013 14:13

Grin sorry about that. You might end up with a completely different dd after first scan though!

FoxMulder · 30/07/2013 14:18

I'm wondering whether to neglect to mention that I know my ov date when I go for my booking in appointment tomorrow. I'm hoping she'll send me for an early scan as I mc last month, but if I know my dates then maybe she won't...

BartBaby · 30/07/2013 17:45

Good glad its not just me then!

fox i wouldnt mention ovulation if i was you. Then you are more likely to het your scan. And also the docs and midwife's normally work it out from lmp. Go by that edd for now. But it might just go back a couple of days at the scan Grin

DaisyLondon · 30/07/2013 18:31

Hello all,

Congratulations ladies.

Could I join this group please? I am very new to this so not sure what all the pregnancy lingo / acronyms mean.

My estimated due date is 6 April 2014 and this is my first post about the pregnancy. We found out five days ago with one of those HCG strip test and then double checked with a ClearBlue Digital test which confirmed the pregnancy along with number of weeks since conception :)

I am 30 years old, live in West London and this is our first pregnancy. DH and I both super nervous. I came off the pill in March and we'd officially been trying since May 2013 so it all seems to have happened rather quickly. We are thrilled of course but a little clueless and holding back from breaking the news to our friends (who are a bit more experienced!).

We have told my mum and MIL but both are overseas so no one around at the mo.

I look forward to reading your updates and sharing these exciting (nerve wracking!) times with you all.

LeeHandy · 30/07/2013 18:37

fox, when i was at the GP she counted from my LMP so that's how I know that I'm 5+3 now.
bart I've been really crampy as well, but have not really had them as much the last two days. And that's making me miss them, because now I can't feel anything and makes me wonder if there's still a bean there. So hold on to the crampy feeling! Smile
Welcome trinpy and congratulations! Good luck for your little bean.

Trinpy · 30/07/2013 19:02

Hi Daisy. Its so hard to keep it secret, isn't it? You're lucky you've got experienced friends on hand, hopefully they'll have lots of helpful advice!

DaisyLondon · 30/07/2013 19:16

I had my appointment with one of the GPs at my surgery today to tell her I was pregnant. She was super chilled about it but as a first timer, I am worried and wanted lots of info - didn't get much - only signposted to NHS Emma's Diary. She took my BP and took a urine sample.

I was asked which hospital I wanted to go to and I opted for Queen Charlotte's Hospital - it is nearby and hubby was born there too. Hope it's good. Anyone given birth there?

The GP did not arrange a midwife planning appointment for me - am I supposed to be doing this myself by ringing the Hospital or Surgery reception? Not sure what the next steps are... but I am going to wait for a letter from the hospital for a week and if it hasn't arrived, I'll ring the hospital to make an appointment with the midwife.

Does that sound about right?

Thanks!

pinkpeoniesplease · 30/07/2013 19:33

Hi all! Welcome to the new posters and congratulations! Grin

I have booked an early scan for 14th August when I'll be 7+2 as I have now convinced myself I'm imagining it! I have zero symptoms Sad

Lee-what was the advice re gym? I've been taking it easy but am still going, not sure if there's anything I ought to be avoiding?! Thanks.

Hi Daisy London
you sound v clued up and organised, not like I was with my 1st.
If you search threads for your hospital name, there might be some stuff on MN about it.
Think your doc will tell your hospital so they will send you a midwife booking letter, at that appointment they usually start your green notes, an A4 booklet full of your personal info you're supposed to carry with you for your pregnancy... they got v cross with me when I misplaced mine Blush

ChocChaffinch · 30/07/2013 20:12

Don't know about anyone else but am enjoying eating lots of fun things ie doughnuts... flapjacks.... et al Grin

ThedementedPenguin · 30/07/2013 20:13

Pink I have zero symptoms as well, which is strange for me as I didn't find out last time for ages and had all symptoms so its very weird knowing I'm preg before the symptoms start.

Cramping is completely normal, so try not to worry about that.

Daisy this is my second pregnancy, I'm from Northern Ireland but anything you want to ask work away and I'll try my best to help you out. Although I don't know anything.

Re: the gym, I discussed it with my doctor and she said they encourage pregnant woman to go to the gym and do everything, they have no limits on what you should do, however from trimester 2 they recommend no contact sports.

cookielove · 30/07/2013 20:49

pink how have you booked an early scan? I have private health insurance and didn't know if I can use it now!!

I had a doc appointment coincidently on the day I found out told the Gp he didn't seem that bothered and told me to call up in a few weeks for a booking in appointment. Had to call this week as chicken pox is in my right at nursery! !

Daisy me and both my siblings were born there due to complications in my mothers first pregnancy. She sayss that its lovely! !

Choc Grin

Ninunina · 30/07/2013 20:55

Hello ladies, I thought I'd pop my head in and say hi since I think I'll be joining you soon. I got a feint line today at 11dpo and if all goes according to plan I'll be due on the 12th April 2014! I'm only having a look around for now since it is all so early and I haven't even missed AF yet, but I couldn't help taking a sneaky peek.
I'm 31, this will hopefully be my second baby (dd is 1y8m) and I'm currently living in Malta (previous pregnancy was in London so it will be interesting to compare).
I recognise some of you from the July Bus and TTC#2 threads.
Fox dd was conceived straight after a MC and my GP sent me straight for a dating scan (they don't really believe you when you say you know when you ovulate). Enjoy the early scan Grin

ChocChaffinch · 30/07/2013 21:12

LOATHE the full bladder scan feeling. gah. nearly pee myself.

ChocChaffinch · 30/07/2013 21:14

HOLY SHIT ive worked my due date out wrong!! was wondering why I was May when I found out 2 weeks ago!

am April 3rd LOLOLO

ChocChaffinch · 30/07/2013 21:23

Ninunina fx'd for you. Ive been to Gozo was a great holiday Smile

LeeHandy · 30/07/2013 21:24

welcome daisy and congratulations!

pinkpeonies, the main thing he said was not to push myself to increase intensity - the goal should be to maintain only. He also said to avoid exercises that involve weights in raised arms for some reason.. maybe to do with blood flow? and to focus on core exercises especially for the back.

Cloudstar · 30/07/2013 21:25

Choc, I was wondering how you could be due in May! Shock

DaisyLondon, it's weird how little info you get at that 1st gp appt..and as for Emma's Diary, it drove me mad when I was given it with my DS and has annoyed me just as much this time around. Her whole pregnancy is so perfect and fear free. She only finds out she's pregnant at 6 weeks? For goodness sake!
