The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

Yep me sultana, didn't get to sleep until 1.30am then dd2 woke at 4.30am for a feed, then up at 7am with bouncy kids. Stinking headache all day, paracetamol is crap.

It was our wedding anniversary on Saturday, but it doesn't feel like a date to celebrate anymore. My lovely MIL passed away on our anniversary 2 years ago :( I celebrate the day we met now instead until we can afford a Caribbean beach holiday blessing ceremony.

Nice to hear some have heard the heartbeat.

Birth plans can be useful if you know you want to try to go without pain relief, you can change your mind at any point, but if the midwives know you want to try without they will stall you until you really mean it.

First labour I was all for natural birth with only G&A, but cracked and had pethidine when I had to be static on the bed to be monitored. I was high as a kite and talking about chasing cats up trees. Never again.

One thing I know I will be having this time is a TENS machine on rental, they had to prise that thing off me in theatre last time before my EMCS. Better than Gas and air for me as too much makes me vomit. I got to 10cm and pushing with just the TENS last time.

I will be having a very detailed birth plan because I am going for a vaginal birth after 2 c-sections.

MrsGSR · 31/07/2013 22:51

Thanks Toby, I think colouring is the way to go :) I've also got a bubble machine (because I'm a big kid) which I think we'll keep the younger ones occupied!

sultanajo I'm struggling to get to sleep at night, despite being exhausted! so annoying!

I need an xray to see if I can have an epidural, I don't really want one as the idea terrifies me! I think I'll make a birth plan, but I won't be that bothered if I can't stick to it (due to being a wimp!)

Naturegirl82 · 31/07/2013 22:57

Congrats on all the good appointments today.

Not really sure how to describe how I feel. A bit peed off and disappointed. I'm going on a friends hen do this weekend. I knew I was pg when I had to pay for it (which was quite a chunk of money) but couldn't tell them or not go, for which we were meant to get accommodation, but then have food and drink (everyone elses is alcoholic!) included. So I asked if I could have some becks blue just so I feel a bit included. Just text my other friend who is organising the hen about something else and she has now turned around and asked me to bring my own as the rest of the stuff has been ordered online. I asked weeks ago for my choice and I'm not even sure if I hadn't of text tonight I would have been told. I think it's a bit unfair I've paid the same as everyone else and not having the same included. especially as I can't even take part in most of the weekend (hot tubs and things like tennis and netball). Just feeling really gutted and not looking forward to the weekend at all. Sorry for the moan and long post just feeling really down about it Sad

lovelilies · 01/08/2013 00:10

nature I'm going on a hen do in a couple of weeks too, so expensive! Shock But at least 3 of us are pg, including the bride Grin so don't have the booze problem... I would be very Angry about that, and ask for some money back- it's just not fair for you to pay for the others getting smashed!
As for the sports, you should be ok doing tennis and netball, unless you've been specifically told not to? Avoid the tub of germs though, a friend of mine works for the water people and regularly tests spas hot tubs, and you wouldn't beliebe how gross they are! Ugh.

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 06:25

Thanks love. Wasn't just sure if I was overreacting a bit. Steering clear of the netball as I play regularly and they don't insure you after 12 weeks and playing with a whole load of inexperienced people will make it more likely to get injured and it's not worth the risk. I've text my friend to say I'm not happy and had a good cry last night.

sarahleanne · 01/08/2013 07:32

Re birth plans.. I took one in with me with DS and they never even looked at it. Infact I was screaming at them telling then to ring my mum and they were refusing saying I wasn't in active labour yet , despite the fact I was sucking on gas and air like a loony. Turns out I started pushing an hour after that and my mum missed the birth so I was on my own just me and the midwife. However, I did decide before hand that I did not under any circumstances want an epidural ( personal choice) and I stuck to it. It helped me to have a solid decision in my head about pain relief and helped me cope I think but everyone is totally different when it comes to this. I'll never write a birth plan again as I don't think they're worth the paper you write them on.

Toothfairy78 · 01/08/2013 08:57

nature that sucks. I know organising hen dos can be a bit of an effort. I've organised 2, 1 was a breeze, the other was fine until the very last minute as hen wouldn't communicate exact invite list til 1 week before, when she added the entire (newly joined) footie team to the event. Gah, communication!

Your friend probably has way too many things to juggle, especially when you factor in dealing with a hen who's stressed out and organising an event that they want to be just perfect, but the least they can do is organise a few beverages for you!

So, are you gonna volunteer to do stuff like score keeping etc for the netball and tennis? You could go all PE teacher on them...could be fun? Could you have a cheeky nap while they're hot tubbing?

MrsAVB · 01/08/2013 09:46

nature I would make sure you eat shitloads of food to get your money's worth Grin. It's sucky though. You don't realise how much drinking costs until you're the only one not doing it... All that stuff around splitting bills becomes very annoying and I find it hard just to swallow it.
Re. Birthplans, I'm not sure re. pain relief as I'm a bit of a wimp, but one thing I do want is to make sure things are explained to me clearly before they happen (if poss) and that where there are choices to be made I have as much info as possible. Have been trying to avoid all the threads on internal exams without consent on here... But even aside from that I'm someone who likes to know exactly what is going on!
mrsv we went to Bali last September, it was super relaxing! Let me know if you want any recommendations.
sultana thanks for the pee updates Grin. Can I ask what made you choose the vista?
Have a good day all x

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 09:53

Hi tooth I know hen dos can be a ball ache to organise (done a few myself as well) but they said they would provide beer or wine for everyone and it was included in the cost. they did a big online order for it so I don't think it would have been any additional effort to order it at the same time for me especially as it is cheaper as well. If the hen found out how much we have all paid and then this as well she really wouldn't be happy. My plan was to keep score/ref but will see how it goes. Just really don't feel like going which is a shame. Off work sick today as well which isn't helping. Sad

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 10:04

Sorry everyone just on a bit of a downer today.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/08/2013 10:58

nature I'd be pissed off too. Very unfair. I suggest you work out how much of what you've paid is for booze and ask for that specific amount back, rather than saying 'I'd like some money back' - it's more concrete and less emotional.
I can TOTALLY empathise with not wanting to go - you feel like you don't matter, don't you? I'm SURE that's not what they would have intended. I felt the same about a friend's hen - it was pretty tame during the day, but the evening was all about drinking. Her wedding was also pretty pg-unfriendly (a 2.5hour 'drinks' reception where there was champagne, beer or water, but only one glass per person, and nowhere to sit, in the sunshine; no soft drinks option with the meal, only wine; cash bar after but soft drinks not chilled (only wine/beer was important enough to chill!)). I left pretty early. It's hard though - she's lovely, and would not have intended it to come across that way, and she's never had kids, so won't have thought about what pg people need!
Can you do something on your own as a treat while they do sporty things? Take yourself off for a mani-pedi?

Am in a filthy temper today myself - slept badly, do NOT like the heat, just want a bump/to feel movement. Bah.

BabyshamBambi456 · 01/08/2013 11:00

Morning all, thanks for all the responses on birth plans, like others here I'll be reading up on the options and having some thoughts beforehand, but might not spend too much time writing it down, I want to be able to decide as I go.
humpty I think my midwife was hinting at what others have said, that sometimes they can't find the heartbeat, so they prefer you to wait. It was actually a student and a supervisor so I think the supervisior was pleased I asked as it gave the student practice. I have a colleague at work who's due in December and is having her first baby at 40. She's been in to her MW loads listening to heartbeat!
Nature hope you're feeling a bit better today, was your friend sympathetic when you said you weren't happy?
Sultana glad it's not just me who has to get up every night to pee! I thouhgt the extra peeing was supposed to be behind us now!
Happy Yorkshire day lasses Grin

MrsGSR · 01/08/2013 11:08

nature I'd be annoyed to, it's very inconsiderate of them. I hope your feeling better soon.

humpty I hoe you stay feeling movement soon. I'm getting really impatient to, as is DH, he was only able to come to one scan (at 7ish weeks) so I don't think it's quite real to him yet.

I can decide if I like the name Abel or not. We have a long double barrelled surname so I'm leaning towards short first names. Although now I think about it Abel doesn't sound that much shorter than Samuel (my second choice), but at least he'd be able to fit his name in the little boxes they give you on forms!

MrsGSR · 01/08/2013 11:09

hope and start. Apparently I'm not yet awake.

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 11:36

Good thing about being off sick is puppy cuddles Smile

LittlePeaPod · 01/08/2013 12:46

Hi ladies,

How are you all keeping? It's been sometime since I last dropped in. Not had a chance to review posts but I hope you are all keeping well.

Quick update from.. I am still ill with the wonderful HG. ha ha Baby is fine and growing as excepted. 18 weeks today and still no movement but with a front facing placenta I don't except to feel anything till at least 21 weeks. The really big news is we found out we are having a GIRL?.. Yeaaaaaaa Grin

Sultanajo you did me proud with the entry post! Wink

MrsGSR · 01/08/2013 12:52

It's good to have you back pod :) and congrats on finding out is a girl, that's so exciting! Sorry to hear the HG is still around, fx it doesn't last long!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 01/08/2013 13:02

Hi pea - sorry to hear re the sickness. Hope you're better soon

nature - that sounds annoying. Agree a mani/prdi is in order. I saw that you said you wouldn't play tennis? I've been playing still - not in the heat and not massively competitive games. Thought that was ok....

I'm doings mad cleaning as parents arriving today. DS has decided thatvhecdiesnt want to have a sleep as he needs to practice crawling up and down his cot. So that it is disrupting the cleaning somewhat. V annoying as cleaner coming tomorrow and I'll have done it all!

Think I need to stay of MN today as the heat and enforced ckeaning has turned me in to a professionally offended on one thread Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/08/2013 14:05

pod yay for wee girl! How exciting!

gobbo I, too, am professionally offended at EVERYTHING today. Come join me in the Cross Corner. I have strawberry lemonade from Costa.
DS is clearly practicing to show off for your parents, thereby distracting them from any specks of dust - you should thank him Grin

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 14:13

gobbo you'll be fine playing. part of the reason I can't take part in the tennis or netball is I'm still recovering from a knee injury picked up from running a marathon just before bfp. didn't mean to panic anyone!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 01/08/2013 15:02

Aaahhhh - sorry to hear about the knee but glad to hear about the tennis

Hope you're booking yourself some luxury treatment at the moment Grin

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 01/08/2013 15:08

humpty - thank you Grin

I'm so bloody hot and the ocado man has turned up without loads of things so I'll need to pop out to the shops once the parents get here such first world probes, I know

Meanwhile, DH keeps texting me to remind me if things I need to do - thanks, dear. I want to phone him up and scream "FUCK OFF" but I missed my chance at lunch and he doesn't answer his phone when he's with patients -contemplating asking the receptionist to pass on a message, hmm--

Oh, and did I mention that I'm fucking boiling??!! Aaaarrgghh

At least DS is now being very good. I'm ignoring the banging as he manoeuvres up and down the cot

LittlePeaPod · 01/08/2013 15:32

MrsG thank you. And with regards the HG, I am used to living with it now. I have strategies in place to deal with food etc. Wink

Gobbo cheers

Humpty I know a little girl? What will I do with a little girl? Confused More scary a mini me!!! ha ha ha

Just saw some of the birth plan discussions.. What I am discovering is my MW and everyone in the antenatal field associated to my pregnancy have a deluded idea that I may actually want some sort of home birth and worse case scenario a hospital vaginal birth? As the ladies that have know me since the first thread know. THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! My birth plan will consist of an agreed date to go into hospital for a planned C-Section, followed by lots of pain relief drugs?????.. I am not sure which part of stop trying to scare me out of having a C-Section my MW doesn't get!! This woman is obbessed with home water births.. ha ha ha ha ha

So lovely to see you are all doing well.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/08/2013 15:32

gobbo I dare you to phone, v politely and calmly and ask the receptionist to take a message:

To: Gobbos DH
Time: 4.00pm, Thursday
Message: FUCK OFF

Doitdoitdoitdoit

It is TOO HOT
