The one where hopefully we are feeling less nauseous and knackered (although we develop hippo hands and feet due to the heat!), we are entering or are in our second trimester (phew!), we continue with 12 week scans and test results (ekkk!), we have 16 week midwife appointments and hear the heartbeat (OMG - aw!), we potentially see the beginnings of bumps and feel the first flutters of movement (wow!) and the 20 week scan for some is just around the corner! Grin

Oh and we try to improve our diets after surviving on one food group during the first trimester!!! Wink

Bring it on thread 7!!!

(pod hope I did you proud)!

HI everyone just checking in briefly and trying to catch up!

Also feeling very grumpy this week, no obvious reason but working lots of long hours recently so maybe that's it! MW appointment tomorrow - but will only be 15+3 so doubt she'll want to try and find the heartbeat even if I ask cos baby is so teeny still! Had a lovely cuddle with my friend's baby today, hope I will be even as half as natural at motherhood as she is!

MrsAVB · 01/08/2013 16:58

pod lovely to have you back, but sorry to hear HG is still in full force. Have you been admitted to hospital again? A baby girl, how exciting! Secretly, I really want to have a girl... Don't tell anyone!
gobbo I always find in laws visits stressful. MIL's house is immaculate and although they're not judgey at all I always feel inadequate.
Re. Birthplans; it's weird, but I guess human nature how different we all are and I guess that's why have a vague idea of what you want expressed on paper, in the likely event (in my case anyway) that my brain will turn into cream cheese the minute I go into labour. A c section would be my least favourite option, but equally I'm not of the reciting affirmations, hypnobirthing, no pain relief school of though either.

Sultanajo · 01/08/2013 20:56

nature that sucks! I really hope u can sort it out so u dont end up paying for your own soft drinks plus everyone elses alcoholic ones! Hope yr pupster has been cheering u up!

Awesome to have u back pod & yay for a girl! Grin Grin Grin

mrsavb we chose the vista because after trying all the others in kiddicare, this one felt sturdy, easy to push with one hand, comfortable to push, can face towards us or away, folds easily, came with lots of extras including adapters for the car seat we want, has a huge shopping basket underneath and narrow enough to fit thru doors. It also had very good reviews on which and other websites! None of them were 100% perfect, but it was close....

Feeling a bit better about hen do, friend has apologized as she realised I had asked quite a few weeks ago and I guess she didn't pass the message on to the other girl who was buying everything. Doesn't change the situation but Dh went and bought me some alcohol free drinks to cheer me up. Puppy cuddles (and a lot of sleep) have helped me feel better to. Smile

Naturegirl82 · 01/08/2013 22:14

Oh and pod one2one are very keen on the whole home birthing thing I've found as well!

MrsGSR · 01/08/2013 22:43

nature I'm glad your feeling better :)

Tomorrow I'm looking after a friend puppy for a while, then going to kiddicare on the way down to Devon to stay with our families for 3 weeks. I'm so excited!!!

MrsVDB · 02/08/2013 07:06

nature I went on a hen recently and although I moaned on here a lot looking back it wasn't too bad. There are still lots of fun parts and when people are drunk and your bored then you can get some extra sleep

MrsVDB · 02/08/2013 07:09

humpty I think it was you going to kiddicare croydon? We live pretty close and were thinking of going so could you let me know how it is when you've been please?

TobyLerone · 02/08/2013 07:25

pod, wanna swap? I really wanted a home water birth. It's looking likely that I'll be forced to have an ELCS and I'm very sad about it.

We went to Kiddicare yesterday too. Ugh, it was my idea of hell! And it's so confusing, all the different types of pram. 14 years ago, when I got my first one, you went to Mamas & Papas, chose a chassis type and a fabric pattern, and received a pushchair seat unit and a carrycot. Maybe a matching car seat, if you were arsed about that.
Now you need a degree in Transportation Of Small Children.

We confirmed to ourselves that we want the Super Ridiculously Expensive one, too. We were hoping to like something cheaper, but the more we tried, the more we liked the expensive one.

We got to have Taco Bell after, though, so it wasn't all bad :o

MrsAVB · 02/08/2013 08:44

Morning all!
humpty and mrsv, we went to the kiddicare in Croydon a few weeks back. I did not enjoy the experience at all, to me it was like it had all the boring expensive baby stuff without any of the fun cute stuff. But I'd imagine its great if you're deciding between prams/ car seats etc as they have a big selection... But I don't think I'd buy there unless on sale as the prices didn't seem any better than anywhere else and I think we'll go 2nd hand for most things. toby which pram are you thinking of getting?
Casabu have a 75% off sale on Isabella Oliver maternity clothes for the next 6 days; there are some nice maxi dresses for whoever was thinking of one for their wedding... Sorry have forgotten!
Xxx

Sultanajo · 02/08/2013 08:53

Lol toby thats what we found! Kept trying the cheaper ones, but once we had tried the more expensive one none of the others had a chance! Grin When the sales girl was reeling off all the extras it came with (half of which I had never even thought of) it clinched the deal! Although now its home I have realised how big the carrycot is! Shock

Sultanajo · 02/08/2013 08:56

Thats interesting mrsa as the southampton one seemed to have the best prices for a lot of the large items we were looking at. It helped that I had a good idea of the exact items we want and had seen how much they were elsewhere, so was able to quickly compare. They have a summer sale on at the moment. I will probably go somewhere else for bedding and nursery decs, but for the main large items I think it will be kiddicare all the way....Grin

OP posts:
MrsVDB · 02/08/2013 09:53

Yeah they do a 7 day price match too.

Need advice please. I'm only 15+2 and its my first but last night and just now I've felt an intense fluttering feeling for a couple of seconds. Not like the butterflies or pops people mention. It feels like a vibrating phone inside me. It's not low down its more belly button height on left side. This can't be movement right? Any ideas?

Sultanajo · 02/08/2013 10:11

Omg mrsv! I wish I knew as I dont think I have felt anything yet, but it could be? Its different for everyone.....

OP posts:
Penny31 · 02/08/2013 10:24

It could well be movement MrsV. I am getting the odd movement (20 weeks today) and to me it always felt heavier than a butterfly. Sultana is right, I think its different for everyone.

So someone at work has just said they think I am going to have a huge bump. They said it a nice way like Im going to have a big, gorgeous healthy baby. But Im freaked out, I do have a definite bump now, but that is normal for 20 weeks isnt it? Another friend says I have a compact bump, but then she says that to everyone lol.

Since my BFP I have put on half a stone, is that a lot?

enjoyingscience · 02/08/2013 10:31

I've got a definite bump at 16w penny, which has already been called 'massive' by my lovely childminder. Humph. 20w is totally normal to be showing.

I think people always feel they have to comment one way or the other on bump size, so you'll get 50% saying it's small, and 50% big! People generally have no idea how big or small a normal bump should look for various stages of pregnancy. (That includes me - I forgot everything about being pregnant almost as soon as I gave birth last time). Best just to smile and nod.

I don't weigh myself, ever, so don't know how much I've put on. Ignorance is bliss.

I was asleep by 8:30 last night. So rock and roll Wink

Penny31 · 02/08/2013 10:36

I don't usually care about my weight but I dont want to be massive and I have just been eating what I like! I found this calcualtor www.thebabycorner.com/tools/pregnancy/calculators/weightcalculator.php

It says my weight gain is bang on normal, so I will take that.

I too was asleep by 8.30! I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up at 11pm and dragged myself to bed. Feel much better for it today.

Sultanajo · 02/08/2013 11:15

penny am 19 weeks today and have suddenly started piling on the pounds the last few weeks. 6lbs since my bfp, but it has all gone on in the last couple of weeks! As long as it doesnt keep going on at this rate I wont be too worried. I too have been eating what I like since the nausea left 4 weeks ago, which possibly accounts for some of it! Must make sure I monitor my portion sizes now! Blush

Penny31 · 02/08/2013 11:18

I am going to try and eat a bit healthier now. I have also booked into Aqua Aerobics classes twice a week so that will hopefully help a bit!

Penny31 · 02/08/2013 11:19

In other news, its my 20 week scan on Monday! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

I am a little nervous, just want baby to be healthy. We also want to know if it is a girl or a boy and if all is well we will be going on a shopping spree. I am beyond excited!

MrsGSR · 02/08/2013 11:41

Good luck for your scan penny! Our hospital won't do gender scans anymore so we'll have to get a private one if we decide to find out.

I'm also pretty set on a slightly ridiculously expensive pram. It costs more than our first joint car did, but our car was very cheap and the pram is very cool!

Penny31 · 02/08/2013 11:42

I hadnt thought about if they do gender scans! Hmmmm I will see if it says anything on the hospital website.

We too are set on an expensive pram, icandy peach.....I also like the Joolz Day but DP set on icandy.
