Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
VinegarDrinker · 27/07/2013 21:56

Oooh dinky how was Open East? We're going tomorrow - mostly just to nose around the park as it's practically on our doorstep.

Congratulations to all the new arrivals!

Grannyapple · 27/07/2013 21:56

Ah congrats in the new arrivals ladies...

I think this one is following in get brothers footsteps...he was 9 days late so she has until tomorrow to get out....I had some cramps earlier just on my left side but they seemed to have tailed off now (tho I have some tightenings in left side at top of bump now Hmm). If not, I have another sweep on Monday morning & induction booked for Wednesday...not what I had planned but if that's they way it is to be, then so be it.

Glad we've had a bit of rain & its a bit cooler now...looking forward to a more comfortable nights sleep as a result.

Grannyapple · 27/07/2013 22:00

Ps how did you guys get tickets for the anniversary games? We went last year & didn't hear anything about it this yr Hmm.

Hoping to go to Commonwealth games in my hometown of Glasgow next year too....I asked sis how to get tickets & she has no clue & still lives there Hmm. Think I'll need to google it...

Abzs · 27/07/2013 22:30

grannyapple There was something on the news this week about ticketing for the Commonwealth games, but I didn't pay proper attention.

Today J went to his first highland games. Dh ran in the hill race and J and I spent a large amount of time in the baby change/feeding tent.

He was good as gold all afternoon, but is now having a crotchety cranky cluster feeding evening.

Congratulations to today's new arrivals!

dinkystinky · 27/07/2013 23:21

It was great Vinegar - top tip, hit sacrilege early ( we dfis it last years when it was touring the country but the boys wanted to go on it again) then head over south bridge to the family hub area - 2 really good playgrounds over there plus a cafe serving Pimms! Loads of walking so take scooter/buggy board for ds.

Granny - we were at a festival in the north of the park father than the summer event series which wasn't really publicised much - seem as to have been sponsored by sainsburys so that's probably how most people found out about it. Definitely Google re the c games tickets!

Persuasion · 28/07/2013 02:01

Congratulations to mightbe, twirlie and waves

Evelyn you could be describing my evenings/nights. I also find it heartbreaking seeing her in pain. Although we seem to be managing it a bit better now, we've decided to try infacol too to see if it helps. She's such a happy baby the rest of the time.

We've had a good last few days of DH's paternity leave going for walks and shopping, and I've fed out successfully a few times which is reassuring. Tomorrow DH's parents are coming for a few days so we'll see how that goes! They're staying in a hotel so hopefully it should be okay.

Mrsd77 · 28/07/2013 03:05

Congratulations Twirlie Mightbe and Waves!

Well I'm hoping I might get a couple of hours sleep now. She's got all I have and seems content enough. Going to give it ten mins before I shut my eyes though as there's nothing worse than being woken after two minutes sleep!

Day three weigh in today snd I was braced for a row after choosing to top L up. DS lost 11% at that stage and I was sure we were going to have to do the same. Anyhow, L only lost 7% so I was taken aback and totally delighted! It shouldn't, but its validated one of the decisions we've made to try to right our wrongs with DS.

I am finding it helpful too that the mws are being so much more friendly this time. Maybe I've earned
My stripes with L being number 2?

Right, well this post has taken an hour due to an unscheduled, prolonged winding session! Hope too many others aren't up too!

MightBeMad · 28/07/2013 04:43

Congratulations to all the other new outies!

For those overdue and struggling - don't lose hope - labour kicked off totally without warning or warm up here so it can happen!

How was the anniversary games [vinegar?] sorry, having total brain fail moment on personals! Blush

MightBeMad · 28/07/2013 04:48

Dinky the hypnobirthing definitely helped and dh was a star (even though I was a demanding nightmare the whole way through! Blush ) I had meconium in my waters so didn't get my longed for Waterbirth but hey, little man is here now and just under 11 hrs from first signs to delivery is a great improvement on my last birth in timing at least!

MightBeMad · 28/07/2013 04:50

Granny commonwealth games would be fab!!! We've got our eye on the 'grand depart' of the tour de France, in Yorkshire next July.

MightBeMad · 28/07/2013 04:51

Waves - fantastic birth story! I hope you are feeling as well and happy as you sound Grin

TotallyEggFlipped · 28/07/2013 06:36

Congratulations, waves!

Good luck with the PIL, Persuasion!

Mrsd - I hate being woken when I've just dropped off. It makes you feel physically sick. I do the same as you & stay awake for a while to be sure it's safe to go to sleep. I can't relax immediately. DH just puts his head down and is snoring again in seconds.
Glad the weigh-in went well.

Our nights seem to be getting a tiny bit better each night. Hopefully things will keep moving in the right direction for a while.

I hope some more of the overdue babies decide to make an appearance today. I was just thinking about how much more energy I have had since giving birth, despite the sleepless nights. Pregnancy is exhausting and I've never even made it to 38 weeks, let alone 40+!

SlouchingPanda · 28/07/2013 09:03

Congratulations to all in our sudden baby boom! Great to read your stories - funny how labour and birth can be so different for each of us.

I am entering Junior Panda for the following events in the July Baby-lympics:

The Marathon
(longest time spent feeding, winding, changing in succession until all three categories are satisfied and the baby settles to sleep. 7 hours yesterday - exhausting!

The Long Piss and the The High Piss
(self explanatory). A single effort covered both categories as it arced off the changing table, hit the door and left a lovely mark on the carpet.

Time to Soiling
(Shortest time in a clean happy before changing us required)
A sterling effort with 5 mins, closely followed by a new personal best of 2 minutes.

Turns our my worries about not feeding/pooing/weeing enough were a bit premature!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone. We might even make it out of the house today.

Silver15 · 28/07/2013 09:15

Panda love the baby- lympics.

Grannyapple · 28/07/2013 09:39

Ha ha slouching my 2.5 yr old still waits til he has a newly changed nappy on before pooing in it...has always done it since he was born....Grin

Abzs · 28/07/2013 09:39

Slouching J sees juniorpanda's 2 minutes, and scoffs at it. He raises you 5 seconds, followed by 20 seconds in a 3 nappy poosplosion late night special event.

SlouchingPanda · 28/07/2013 10:14

We know when we're beaten! Back to the rigorous training schedule...Grin

OP posts:
Cheeseandbread · 28/07/2013 10:36

Slouching I love it! I think Juno could give baby slouching a keen competitor!

dinkystinky · 28/07/2013 11:50

Sorry - dinkystinky3 is the Usain Bolt of the pooing world - he actually pushes out his Dukey before I've finished doing up the tabs on the fresh nappy! He's also in training for the endurance events - awake from 1 last night till just before 10 this morning! Its a good thing he's so damn cute!

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 28/07/2013 11:50

Congratulations mightbe twirlie and waves

Evelyn hope you had a better night. I've had a few like that and it's really hard. Hope your dh is helping out a bit at those times too.

dinky maybe dh will take the big ones out to give you some quieter time today? It's definitely ok to be grumpy some of the time though

slouching we could give you some competition in the marathon but sounds like abzs has the nappies title at the moment! M is also now pooping like crazy so my early worries about her not pooing enough have gone Grin

Well the rain arrived last night and it's been pouring for hours. Dh is pleased as it's good for the garden Hmm but I'm not looking forward to entertaining the boys plus M inside all week if this lasts... Soft play beckons...

dinkystinky · 28/07/2013 12:02

Thanks Thinking - dh has taken ds1 to his specialist appt in Hampshire today so just me, ds2 and J. Off to farmers market in a mo to get food for a picnic with some of ds2s new classmates this afternoon.

TotallyEggFlipped · 28/07/2013 12:38

Re:Time to Soiling for the baby-lympics, N regularly squirts out a poo before I manage to close the tabs on her nappy. My particular favourite though, was when she released a big stream of poo all over the new nappy and my hand at the very second I slid it under her bum. So proud.

VinegarDrinker · 28/07/2013 13:33

B prefers a fresh nappy to poo in too, nowhere near as impressive as your babies though! Does make me grateful for using cloth though, I just see the pound signs disappearing at a rate of knots otherwise!

waitingforwombat · 28/07/2013 17:17

Loving the baby-lympics and congratulations to new arrivals and their potential gold medal winners!

We had an amusing incident in the cinema yesterday with some bloke trying to get us to sign up to a loyalty card - he didn't seem to understand when I pointed at my (frankly enormous) bump and suggested that we might not be coming to the cinema much in the next few weeks....

Had my first sweep today - not nearly as bad as I'd thought. Cervix 2cm thick, posterior but admitted one finger. Lots of bloody show since, so bouncing hard on ball this evening with hope that things will start soon. Anyone got any positive post sweep stories? Booked in for a second in 48 hrs if nothings happening, but at least it feels like I'm DOING something now.

41 weeks today. Only 1 week till wombat eviction....

Grannyapple · 28/07/2013 17:48

Ooh wombat...I had a sweep on Friday...was told cervix was favourable, 1-2cms dilated...but not had much happening, despite walking, ball bouncing etc. Yours sounds much more promising than mine!

Booked in for another tomorrow morning...then if still nothing, induction booked for Wednesday....
