Hello shiny new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
princessllama · 18/07/2013 20:13

Reiki- respect! With dd i managed to knot a v simple blanket and was v hard work but enjoyable . Knitted stuff is fab on babies- my mil does besutiful cardis that are v useful for winter and they seem to stretch with the baby so get a lot of use out of them.
Dinky, as well as kent i recomend suffolk we have a breeze although we also have vast quantities of daddy long legs- i counted 35 on my ceiling last night feeding ds2 and a moth the size of a bat

ReikiMummy · 18/07/2013 20:15

Thanks Dinky and Princessllama

The knitted blanket seemed to take AGES... 4 ply wool and small needles :)

Was going to knit a cardi/jacket, but couldn't decide on size to knit, so opted for a blankie thinking it'd get more usage out of it before outgrowing! :)

Then the hot weather hit! D'oh!

Shockingundercrackers · 18/07/2013 20:43

Hello all... I'm still pregnant. Lots of very painful braxton hicks, lots of period pain style aching, babys head is engaged, so im doing plenty of yelping every time I bend down. Not much sleeping. Got a stinking cold. 3 year old waking up all night with same... To top it all off, I wet myself earlier. Hmm

41+3

cheekbyjowl · 18/07/2013 22:18

Jeez i wrote a long post earlier whist feeding and lost it :( I think there will be babies born tonight- I can feel it in my waters :)

Shelley glad she's such a good weight. Are you feeling ok?
Dinky chuckling already? That must be a delght to hear! Joseph has two noises which are variations on a theme of cry - but still lovely to hear.

Right ladies - i have a mission tonight. Last night I managed 3 hrs of sleep as was J got fed up with his moses basket and i'm trying my darndest not to fall asleep when he's on me as i'm a wriggler. This has meant watching the teleshopping channel at 4am to keep my eyes open. I spent a good 40 minutes last night hearing about an extendable hose - and perhaps gave a good hour to the man selling a 15 way steam cleaner! So now i have his moses basket sheet stuffed down my bra (lovely) trying to transfer the smell. Might try co-sleeping if all else fails but how do you know you won't bulldoze into them - do you just lie them in the middle of the bed? Eject your other halves? x

pocopearl · 18/07/2013 22:53

big grin here, went to assessment unit at hospital did some major hinting regarding getting a sweep to no avail. Lots of protein and bp stayed high (which i know i shouldnt be pleased about) dr prescribed bp tablets and im back in morning to get stuck on the monitor again and another sample etc and then he has suggested i be induced tomorrow, as will be 40+1 and its a big baby. :) very happy and terrified i know i have wanted baby out but this is all becoming a little on the real side now.

PhieEl06 · 18/07/2013 23:19

Fingers crossed for the sneeze birth dinky! & hopefully bloody soon!

Hope everything is okay Poco! Fingers crossed you'll be meeting your baby soon, try to keep calm as at least docs know what's best!

Laughing at your DH's comment MrsD told DP & he laughed & said "aww yours look like that too." Shock

I hope I'm one of those births tonight cheek but very doubtful as life seems to be carrying on as normal here!

Lack of anything laboury at all here, taken the risk & stopping at DP's house tonight, have been avoiding it the past few weeks as if anything starts here it's further from the hospital, I don't have hospital bag or tens & means my mom isn't just in the other room but then again Sod's law & all of that... Still hoping...

PhieEl06 · 18/07/2013 23:59

This is going to sound like a really silly question now but as a first timer I have no idea... Does regular lightening crotch indicate anything labour wise? For the last hour or so, every 5 minutes I've been jumping in agony as I feel like someone is stabbing/electrocuting me in the bits right at the front behind my pubic bone, usually get this when her head is having a good move about, but not a great deal of movement at the moment just horrible horrible lightening crotch!

princessllama · 19/07/2013 02:06

Hi phie, not sure re pains.-regular seems like positive sign, only time will tell, fx !

IcingTheCake · 19/07/2013 04:37

poco i can completely relate to that! I found myself thinking last night maybe if there's a problem they'll induce me!! Its horrible i know but in this weather i think its just so tough being pregnant Sad

Im going to ask for a sweep today (39+6) on the grounds that shes measuring very big (90th centile) and it is a first baby... My mw is lovely but have a feeling it'll be a big fat no! Although she might refer me for high bp as apparently it was ridiculously high using a standard arm thing technical last time, but my doctor had a bigger one and im pretty sure mw doesn't!

Does anybody know how big I'd have to measure to be referred for growth scan or whatever? Just because they keep telling how huge im measuring an that its all baby but not mentioned a scan or induction yet? Do i have to go above the 100th centile?

Hope everyone is sleeping lovely tonight (fan in front of open window brings lovely cool air inside!) Smile

39+6 - full term tomorrow!!!!

twirliedobbit · 19/07/2013 07:12

Argh 41 weeks today and nothing.

Poco, v Envy of your induction today, hope everything goes well for you and baby poco behaves and reacts to the pessary.

Phie, it is quite difficult, but in my experience the sharp pains down below are just the head pushing lower, actual contractions are more stomach tightenings and although the pelvic stabs are sooooo painful. Unfortunately I have been getting those for around a month Sad however if you do feel worried or need assurance, call the hospital.

Cheeky, I have never co -slept for exactly those reasons, I am such a deep sleeper and know that I wouldn't get any sleep being worried about crushing. With the others I did sleep with my arm in the basket, I also slept with a teddy/muslin and put in with baby to transfer my smell. Good luck, no sleep is a killer.

SlouchingPanda · 19/07/2013 07:48

Hello hello!

First things first - no baby here yet Sad. I've had on and off tightenings which stop me in my tracks but they haven't established into anything regular. I heavy-breathed my way through a pub quiz last night, and I had high hopes but it all settled down overnight. Oh well...

Shocking I am still hopeful of beating Tuesday's induction date, and fingers crossed it happens for you too.

Phie I feel the stabby crotch pains too and think it's do to with the head engaging more.

Icing hopefully your MW will do a sweep if you beg ask. I had a growth scan at 39+5 and baby is off the top of the chart, but there was no talk of delivering earlier. My consultant had a feel and declared that it 'didn't feel like a massive baby'. It flipping well will be be 40+12 though especially in view of all the extra time I've had to eat ice-cream!!!

Am impressed re the crafting, ReikiMummy and others. I have made junior a carseat blanket which I need to finish today. The next project was to learn to crochet... at this rate I'll be an expert! This baby has to come soon as I am spending a lot on yarn (and I suspect the staff at John Lewis had the shock of their lives having to serve a 41 week pregnant woman buying a crochet hook Shock).

Poco good luck with your induction - like others I am slightly jealous, but the most important thing is that you and your baby are ok and everything goes well for your delivery.

Meanwhile on FB, LancsLass83 has had a girl, born yesterday morning and as yet un-named. Congruatulations!

Good luck everyone today!
41+1 (never thought I'd be writing these numbers!).

pocopearl · 19/07/2013 07:57

I have it all planned out everythings going to be going to a strict timetable today including baby. being monitered at 10.30, then i reckon by the time all test results are in induction around 1 baby out by 3 and i'll be home in the morning with baby... good old wishful thinking :) I do feel a little guilty twirlie that im being induced as am only 40+1 today and i know there is loads of you who are getting closer to 42 weeks that 40. sorry, its a genuine sorry with a little smugness
icing i had finally stopped thinking to myself i hope i have something that will make them induce me... i mean i didnt mean to give myself pre eclampsia but just something that would have at least got me a sweep. My mw wouldn't do a sweep until 41 weeks but she said if the dr oked it or did it himself then they would do one at 40 weeks, and she wouldnt have even booked an induction until the 1st august which i think is when i would be exactly 42 weeks and i have a chunky baby too am still hopful he/she will be 6lbs though hopefully your midwife may be a little nicer :)

good luck everyone xxx

cheekbyjowl · 19/07/2013 08:21

poco twirlie slouchingphie it is uncomfortable now but it is.most definitely worth.the wait! Smile hold in there. newborns are wonderful. (particularly when asleep..which alas this one isn't).

MightBeMad · 19/07/2013 08:31

Morning all! Congrats lancslass!

Good luck for the induction today poco!

Sympathies with everyone else still waiting or getting little sleep with newborns.

I've got a mw appointment later at which I will hopefully get my last blood results. A bit nervous as, unlike many of you, I really don't want to have to be induced early!

39 weeks today!

dinkystinky · 19/07/2013 08:38

Congrats to Lancslass - was wondering who the mystery person was that had the baby on the FB group.

Poco good luck with induction today - hope all goes smoothly and swiftly.

Icing - not sure you'll get a sweep today but no harm asking. I was told DS1 was an enormous baby - he wasnt, he was only 9lbs - so much of the size thing is guessing, so try not to let it worry you too much.

Cheek - sadly J only chuckles in his sleep at the moment, but it is definitely a chuckle. While away its creaky wardrobe noises or crying or lying there taking it all in.

Phie - pains may be baby moving its way down. As Princessllama says, time will tell. Have fun at OH's place tonight.

PhieEl06 · 19/07/2013 08:42

Morning ladies, unfortunately lightening crotch was just that, lightening crotch, but hey I survived the night at DP's without going into labour woo, he's had a newly decorated bedroom too (finished 2 days ago) with new furniture & carpets so it's more baby friendly if we decide to stop when Moo's here & I don't think he'd be best pleased if my waters happened to go whilst here!

icing I think our pregnancy's must be the exact same, both girls, both same age, due same day, I am also measuring huge, just above 90th centile but I was told not to worry about it as its still in line with the norm as under 100 & it doesn't necessarily mean a big baby!

Sorry to hear your on/off tightenings keep staying off slouching, hopefully when things really kick in they'll be super fast! Thanks for letting us know about lancslass83 - congratulations for whenever you read this I hope all is well!

I like your wishful thinking poco, sending you good luck & hugs & hope everything works out okay! Xx

Anywho, might be nice to OH & leave him to sleep in this morning, I have plenty to occupy myself with trashy magazines...
Hope everyone has a good day, those with babies have stress free days & those without get pushing! Wink
39+6 - well I am getting close now!

PhieEl06 · 19/07/2013 08:46

Oops didn't refresh before my post & cross-posted!
MightBe in contradiction to my previous post I hope your bloods come back normal & they allow you to continue to enjoy your pregnancy. Smile
dinky pains ended up being nothing... I think I've ran out of disappointment now for thinking this is it when it's not. I'm just used to the fact I'm going to be pregnant for another 2 weeks yet!

Persuasion · 19/07/2013 08:54

I'm finding it hard to keep up with you all at the moment, managing to read mainly during night feeds them my brain is too fried to remember many personals!

Congrats lancslass and good luck for induction today poco, and to all others having stop start contractions or signs.

Glad things are a little better mummyKanny having had a few difficult nights where F fed constantly and then the following night struggled to latch because my milk had come in, I managed to get her to latch well on my left yesterday and eventually to my right (my difficult side) in the afternoon after expressing of milk for ages to try to make the latch easier. Hopefully this can give you a bit of optimism, because I just had a good night last night where she fed every three hours and slept between. I swear I didn't do anything different, but it is a good reminder that at this stage every day is different and eveything is a phase that will pass!

Mrsd77 · 19/07/2013 09:11

Good luck poco

Icing this baby is on 97th line and I find the midwives have got themselves excited when I've measured over three weeks too big! For example, at 36 weeks I measured 44!
Thing is this bump measuring business is far from an exact science. Sorry you're a bit worried as well as uncomfortable.

Well, another shocking nights sleep here. Not to worry, finish line is in sight!

Mrsd77 · 19/07/2013 09:14

Ooo! Congrats lancslass!

Grannyapple · 19/07/2013 09:29

Uh oh....DS has chickenpox...not ideal timing to discover this on due date Hmm. Mummies with older DC's-any recommendations for remedies for relief if itching etc? He seems totally fine & is already on piriton for hayfever so that will help relieve itching too...

Now thinking if baby comes a week later, it might be better....

dinkystinky · 19/07/2013 09:34

Oh no - terrible timing Granny but i guess better now than when baby arrives - my top tips are cool bathes with oatmeal in ( pop oatmeal in pair of tights), paracetemol and ibuprofen for temperature and virasoothe good for popping on the spots ( is a gel).

dinkystinky · 19/07/2013 09:38

Slouching - remember, long latent phase normally means super quick active phase. The longer you can ignore those contractions, the better x

BB01 · 19/07/2013 10:25

Aw feel so much for all you innies in this heat. Can't be great if you're feeling all uncomfortable as it is.

Sounds like I'm not alone with baby having sleep issues at night. She slept about two hours last night when I finally gave in and let her sleep on me while I dozed. This was about five a.m. after endless hours of feeding, some of it comfort sucking, some of it proper feeding!! In desperation DH gave her bottle of leftover expressed milk from when DD was in hospital to give my sore nipples a rest. She had some (while I sobbed in background as felt guilty!) but then wanted the boob again shortly after!!

Sorry no personals again. Hope all those with feeding issues are getting on ok. It is such a minefield I find. Didn't expect feeding a baby to be this complicated and full of uncertainty!

BB01 · 19/07/2013 10:26

Sounds like a few people heading for induction. While mine wasn't great later on due to other complications, it was great in that the pessary worked v fast. No need for waters breaking etc. So it doesn't necessarily take days to get going.
