Wonder who is next to pop...

scoutfinch1 · 18/07/2013 14:29

Thanks dinky just getting impatient now. At least things seem to be getting started. Watermelon and coconut water sounds amazing too.

Tomdaley That sounds horrible, hope baby arrives too. I'm a bit worried now about the no fan situation. I'm in SE Wales too and having seen that the weather is going to be like this for at least another week I was going to get one today. Might have to look online. Hope it cools down soon

scoutfinch1 · 18/07/2013 14:31

Sorry, double post.

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/07/2013 15:45

Oh dear. N is having a very unsettled day Sad. She cries every time she gets put down and just wants to be held. She keeps falling asleep on people's chests. This is exactly what I was trying to avoid! She had been so content being put into her crib & carry cot awake and just drifting off to sleep, but since about 4am she hasn't wanted to be put down at all.

shelley72 · 18/07/2013 16:29

Oh dear totally that could ruin your plans for dh later Grin. I'm impressed you're even thinking about dtd already but then I'm old

In other news F has put on a whopping 11oz in 8 days and hv seemed happy with her. Didn't have the courage to tell her I still feel a bit sad though.

TomDaleysTrunks · 18/07/2013 16:52

scout where are you? I'm in Abergavenny. Apparently b&q in Merthyr had a delivery yesterday if that helps!

pocopearl · 18/07/2013 17:29

mean evil midwife wouldnt do a sweep, mean baby is only 2/5s engaged, and mean midwife is making me go up hospital now with high bp, protein, and swelling. fx a dr will do a sweep.

scoutfinch1 · 18/07/2013 17:37

Tom I'm in Newport unfortunately so a bit further away but thank you. Fx there should be some in Newport or at least Cardiff

How are all the newborns coping in the heat? I just put the baby monitor on to check the temperature and it's 34 degrees in our bedroom! Really worried about bringing a newborn home now.

scoutfinch1 · 18/07/2013 17:42

Poco fx for you

TotallyEggFlipped · 18/07/2013 17:46

Well done, F, shelley. That's fantastic.

Fingers crossed, poco.

IcingTheCake · 18/07/2013 17:51

Hope everything turns out okay poco fx for you x

OhGood · 18/07/2013 17:54

Hi all - how are you all coping in the heat?? Terrible if you are still pg and equally tricky with a newborn.

Thomas (we finally named him...) is not that happy - gets floppy and lethargic - and so ironically having prayed for fab summer for last 5 years or whatever I am now a bit housebound.

How are you all coping? Any tips? We bought a fan, which is helping for feeds. Was considering offering him some water.

totally I second the lansinoh breast pads they are awesome.

Hang in there mummyk it's so hard what yuou're going through but you will get there, will get easier - was exactly the same first time round and while it did take a while it all fell into place at about 6,8 weeks and DD1 fed like a dream afterwards.

dinkystinky · 18/07/2013 17:54

We are camped out downstairs in the shade or in the garden before it gets too hot Scoutfinch - only go up to bedroom around 10 at night when its no longer in the thirties (just!). J is spending a lot of time in just a nappy and a muslin!

Poco - hope you get your sweep and all is ok.

princessllama · 18/07/2013 18:15

Mummykanny

Try this lady, she is meant to be amazing and lovely

scoutfinch1 · 18/07/2013 18:16

That sounds like a perfect plan Dinky but we're in a second floor flat at the moment so nowhere to escape to I'm afraid. I think baby will be spending all of their time in just a nappy and muslin too.

princessllama · 18/07/2013 18:17

Hmm try this

princessllama · 18/07/2013 18:47

Lansinoh breast pads rock unless you distractedly put one sticky side in against your nipple...

ReikiMummy · 18/07/2013 18:53

well after a trip to the loo early this morning at 5:30... at which point i was having soreness in lower back and upchucked what was left in my tummy of tea... I thought things baby might actually start to move today....

Nope.... still soreness in lower back on and off, along with lower tummy aches... but its more off than on again.....!

#sits and meditates and remains calm...ommmmmmmmmmmmm#

##picks up knitting again...##

princessllama · 18/07/2013 18:56

Reiki what are you knitting?

ReikiMummy · 18/07/2013 19:02

Hi Princessllama...

Have finished 2 x baby blankets (one knitted, one crocheted), 1 beanie style hat (that might be a bit big for a newborn...) 1 pair of newborn baby bootees... (VERY tiny... so waiting to see size of LO's feet before I make any more!)

Will put photo somewhere... if i can find somewhere to stick it!

Have just started a shawl for a bit of something non baby related. More to just do something... might end up being a pressie for someone. :)

However... if dearest baby doesn't appear soon I WILL be making something REALLY lovely and embarrassing for it to wear and will take lots of photo's!!

Mrsd77 · 18/07/2013 19:09

Marie thanks for that. I think your method will be what happens here. I will give the baby what I have but am very happy to top up with formula if need be. I'm aiming for the best of both worlds really.

Good luck Poco. My DH has just said "oooo your poor feet. Your toes look like prawns stuck onto a balloon!" Humph!

dinkystinky · 18/07/2013 19:36

Scoutfinch - definitely invest in some good fans then - either that or move to the Kent coast. While it was 32 degrees and sunny in our part of london today it was14 degrees, windy and grey at the beach ds1 went to today - not that he minded!

Reiki - am impressed at your craftiness. My sister knitted a blanket for J - she got all the artistic genes in our family....

dinkystinky · 18/07/2013 19:37

OhGood - am feeding J lots during the day. Cool flannels on face, back of neck and wrists.
