Hope you are ok falcon.
Eek ok looking at London nurseries can be a maternity leave job presuming baby is overdue. Thanks for the advice.

GTbaby · 17/07/2013 22:33

Oh no falcon. Hope it's all ok.

rubytwosday · 17/07/2013 22:43

falcon, hope you are better very soon. Roofio, I am glad your work have been understanding - it must have been really worrying last night. MoN, she sounds like a nice lady ....... Sorry your kids had to see someone acting like that. I am glad that the experienced ladies think we can wait a while to organise child care - already feeling stressed about having to go back to work when baby is 6/7 months old. Only 18 more work days for me! 4 this term and 14 in September. Oh, and thank you to who over it was who organised the data sheet (sorry I've forgotten). It was fun to look at how many people are due in such a short space of time!

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 22:45

That sounds fine Clapham, I'll have a go at changing my date and colour coding when I'm on the laptop tomorrow

TheFalconsmistress · 17/07/2013 22:52

Thanks ladies im in overnight so its stressing my poor ds out. I have a vq? Scan tomorrow im in my own room so not too bad hopefully it will be ok.

Mon that sounds terrible xxx

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 22:53

What made you go to hospital Falcon? Sorry you're in overnight, hope it's not too hot?

textbook · 17/07/2013 22:57

Hope all is ok on the scan tomorrow falcon - will be thinking of you Thanks

MotherOfNations · 17/07/2013 22:58

She is such a loud ned (chav). I can't wait to see her show herself up in court. What really annoys me is that this court case is going to end up costing us a fortune but he, an illegal immigrant is entitled to legal aid.
I really don't unserstand why he is still in the country.

LostMySocks · 17/07/2013 23:03

Sorry cant remember who had parking problems. Could you redo your risk assessment and get them to reserve a space for you, particularly in the hot weather? Not unreasonable if you are getting bigger and alternative is a long walk in hot weather if you struggle with the heat. It's definitely a reasonable adjustment and not a difficult president for other pregnant ladies

roxvox · 17/07/2013 23:12

Sounds horrid Mon, do you even have to pay if you win the case?

lostMySocks that was me with the parking. My company hasn't done a risk assessment at all, but I am a web developer so there's not really much risk associated with my job. If I turn up to the office to find no spaces, and no other company will allow me to use their space then I can just come home again and work from home. I work with all males though, and have been offered one of their spaces a few times so they're very good Smile ... I am going to have to have a chat soon though because our parking spaces are incredible slim, and if the only space left is in the middle of 2 cars then I think I might struggle to get out of my car pretty soon! Thank you for the advice Smile

Back from hols now Hmm

Put my foot down DP is no longer going to Vegas.... Idiot!

Falcon sending you Thanks I hope all is ok and you manage to get some rest tonight...xx

Natalieand · 18/07/2013 01:56

falcon a vq scan measures the air flow and blood flow too your lungs. Are u in blood thinning medication? Being overweight I am on 75mg of aspirin daily to help prevent blood clots strokes etc xxx

chickieno1 · 18/07/2013 03:55

Falcon hope the V/Q scan tomorrow is negative and you feel better ASAP!

Shirehobbit · 18/07/2013 04:57

Thinking of you, falcon - hope you've had an ok night Flowers

Welcome back flyer and well done on persuading (!) DH to see the light over Vegas Wink

My turn in the insomniacs corner; gave up half an hour ago and came downstairs for some hot milk and biscuits. It would be that I can't sleep the last quiet night before a mad few days, wouldn't it?! Today is the hen-do (afternoon/evening) for Saturday's bride, followed by a meal/drinks with her family tomorrow night and the wedding on Saturday. (She's organised the while thing from Australia and only flew back yesterday - got to admire her!) But I am a bit concerned about the heat and marathon celebrations. I'm sure I'm worrying for no real reason, but that could be why I'm awake.

OrangeBlossom2 · 18/07/2013 07:25

Welcome back flyer.

Shire no one will mind you going off for a sit down when you need it and are bow out relatively early in the evenings of you need to. Bring a big hat and water. Use the nearly-the-end-of-term crossing the finish line energy boost to get you through!

Another bad nights sleep. Hot hot hot. My ankles have been hugely swollen the last couple of afternoon/nights. They feel weird and look like my DHs do when he gets hit by a hockey ball. Ice packs and elevation didn't do anything but they have mostly gone down this morning. Someone at school told me to show my midwife but I think it is to be expected being much heavier and so hot.

OrangeBlossom2 · 18/07/2013 07:26

Falcon what time is your test? Do you know?
How are you feeling?

Natalieand · 18/07/2013 07:32

Hope u have some more answers today falcon x x

Sorry to those not sleeping x. I actually managed to only get up twice last night which is an achievement for me :-) so I feel a little less emotional today and off round a friends to relax in the garden when dd finishes play school

Do u have have any other swelling orange hands? Face? If so then deffo worth contacting your midwife for especially if the cold water and elevation isn't helping to relieve it a little

I don't actually have swollen feet at all yet which in quite suprised about especially as I already carry excess weight,

Tarlia · 18/07/2013 07:56

Falcon how are you this morning? How scary. Thinking of you x

So exciting to hear how close ML is, I don't have that marker as obv already on semi bedrest but its making me realise I need to do some things for baby! Re bank holiday, everyone is entitled to at least some bank holidays while on ML, but depends on how your contract is worded. Ie if it says you are entitled to 5 or 6 weeks holiday, then that legally can include all BH. It's just those that only have 4 weeks stated still that need to fight for those extra days.

DS last day of nursery before he has 2 weeks holiday - looking forward to seeing his lovely little face during the day :)

HotSoupDumpling · 18/07/2013 08:21

Hope everything will be okay Falcon.

Mon, that woman sounds like a right douchebag. In front of children too.

Orangeblossom, I've also got swollen feet, but putting them up and putting cold wet flannels on them seems to help. I agree with natalie, if your ankles aren't getting better definitely definitely speak to a midwife and don't play down how swollen they are! They usually aren't, but they can be, a sign of PE www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/swollen-ankles-feet-pregnant.aspx#close

I'm planning to be a SAHM - does anyone know when would my child should start going to nursery? Presumably at least part time before they start going to school, so they meet other kids and get used to it. (Trying to work backwards to calculate when I need to subscribe them to nurseries... As someone said, our London ones are very popular and have waiting lists)

Natalieand · 18/07/2013 08:25

hotsoup your little one will receive 15 hours free playschool/nursery from the term after they turn 3 so for us ladies that will be January 2017

Which seems like a lifetime away doesn't it? Lol so probly best to look the January prior to that (jan 2016) if you are in London and spaces are competitive. Xx

Warlin · 18/07/2013 08:53

falcon thinking of you. Hope you're ok and get out today.

MoN that all sounds very messy and stressful, just what you don't need in your third trimester.

clapham I'm mostly veggie too but do eat fish. In my last pregnancy I started craving meat (after more than 10 years of not eating it) much to dh's delight but haven't felt the urge this time. I just take pregnacare and my iron levels have been fine.

Another here with nothing done for the baby. Really need rummage through ds's clothes and decide what I will actually use, wash moses basket sheets and buy in some supplies. My nesting instinct is starting but I just have the energy at night.

We put ds's name down for nursery when he was about 6 weeks old and they couldn't guarantee us a place. I have this baby registered but know it's easier when they have siblings.

Another long day in work I suspect....just can't concentrate in this heat :(

pinkbuttons · 18/07/2013 08:57

Morning all,

How are you feeling falcon and what happened? Hope your ok and get some answers today.
How are you tarlia whats happening with your BP at the moment.
Lovely to hear how close everyones maternity leave is, cant imagine how busy this thread is going to be when everyones off!
Very stressful day here yesterday, woke up with painful crampy bracton hicks. DH is away with work and nearest hospital was a 40 minute bus ride away. Thankfully lying down and doing nothing stopped them but then washing machine broke and uni called me to say that my grades weren't sent to the examination board on time so I wont qualify until December. Had huge emotional/hormonal breakdown last night and only about 4 hrs sleep. Hope everyones coping with the heat, really does seem to make everything much harder. sorry for moan, still feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Tarlia · 18/07/2013 09:23

Dumpling Depending on the area but some London nurseries need you to sign up as soon as you get pregnant to guarantee a place. This is certainly the case is SW London around Clapham for example.

P.Buttons sorry yesterday was a bit of a bumpy day for you. Glad the BH stopped. They really arnt nice sometimes :/. My BP is up and down - rest really helps but I just feel so guilty about it.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 18/07/2013 09:29

Hope you're ok falcon
I managed to sleep and only wake up once last night. Phew! Feel much more alive today.
hotsoup I think I'll be a sahm mum too with the odd bit of work I can do for dh's company but I'm still going to send te small people to nursery. Just a few sessions a week to get them socialising and to give me a break and because I think nursery can be so good for them. The one ds is starting at is fabulous and they do so much with them. Obviously I will only be able to do this if we have enough cash but its in the budget!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 18/07/2013 09:44

Thinking of you falcon and keeping fingers crossed all is ok.

pinkbuttons - hope today is less stressful, what a shame about the delay in sending off your grades.

HotSoup - I am a SAHM too and I'm going to start looking into putting this little one's name down for pre-school as soon as possible really. When when we were living in SW London I started looking about a year in advance and found that lots of the waiting lists were already closed for her intake.

DD started going to pre-school for 2/3 mornings a week in the September before she turned three (December baby) - I don't think we got any free hours at that stage but it was definitely the right sort of age and will probably copy those timings again.

In my experience, if you don't need full day childcare then pre schools/playgroups (I know different areas call them different things) that just do mornings and/or afternoon sessions are a gentle introduction to being independent and mixing with other children. The pre-schools attached to primary schools are also another good option.
