hey roxvox - goodness, imagine if I got all the way down to treliske and then they tried to send me all the way to derriford! id definitely be screaming by then! Yes Ill talk to my midwife next week - the trouble is she seems so busy and keen to shuffle me out the door so i havent mentioned it yet!
If they dont let me in at treliske id choose st austell birth centre as at least they have a pool (i so wish treliske had a pool!), or a home birth in saltash. Derriford sounds so awful I couldnt bear it, and I really want my ds to be Cornish!
Thanks v much for the warning - my thought was that they wouldnt send a labouring lady away and since ill be spending a lot of time with my parents as my dh works long hours chances are high Ill be down there anyway. I shall make sure they understand my intentions & that all will be ok, I will get a treliske baby. I think Mrs Cameron had a planned c section there and shes definitely not from there so only fair I think?

roxvox · 17/07/2013 17:46

empress I am glad you said that Treliske doesn't have a pool, that's one less thing for me to expect at not get! I wish they had a pool too, just so the option would be there should I wish to use it. I might try to check out St Austell Birth Centre too, just in case. But I will be gutted if I got to Treliske and they turned me away. I might just have to do a headstand in the hallway until they have a bed free Wink

Flyer Las Vegas idea totally mad! When was he planning on going? What does he expect you and baby to do when he s gone? I think sometimes men panic when the first dc arrives and do or plan crazy things. It's like they don't want to admit life needs to change and they're responsible. For another human being? It's a good idea to get him to talk to other male friends th at h ave. had children.

Bowlful and pseudoI've done nothing for new baby! Need to sort thru ds newborn clothes to see what's neutral. Need buggy. Need to decide re Moses basket or straight to cot. What to do with ds if I do go into labour before CS date. List is getting longer as the days go by............

shire I think you should wait if you can to find a nursery. You might get recommendations from other people after baby s born too. I had moved to London just before ds w as born s o hadn't sorted anything out. Everyone put me in a panic re waiting lists and all that. In the end went with nursery one of the nct mums was using and ds was really happy there. He was 9 months so took a while to settle due to developmental stage but he loved it. It was hard leaving him at the start even more for dh I think but we all settled into our new routine after about a month

27 weeks today!

Had obs appt earlier. BP, babies heartbeat, GTT, bump measurement all good. Only problem is my Hb is still low at 9.9 and my iron stores are low too :( I've been on iron and expected it to have gone up. Have to take it twice a day now which happened when pregnant with ds and got v constipated booooo. Oh well will just have to keep going with it and have another look at my diet. Not great fan of red meat but eat plenty fruit, veg, salad, beans, lentils etc. Anyone tried liquid iron??

Sorry for moany post.

textbook · 17/07/2013 20:41

tucking Thomas wasn't on our list for boys - but only because it is dp's name! Obviously I like it very much Grin

Just checked - 79 days until due date (but will be less as ELCS, and I will hopefully find out the date of that on 5th August). Don't know whether to be excited or bricking it!!

ananikifo · 17/07/2013 20:44

roxvox I have no idea if it's a legal requirement to give bank holidays on top of annual leave. I've only ever worked for the NHS (in the UK at least) and I know we do tend to get more than the legal minimum.

If anyone's interested the m&s online sale includes lots of baby clothes.

I'm really tempted to buy some of the adorable summer outfits on sale everywhere now but I have to stop myself! I suppose I don't know for sure how big my baby will be when he needs summer outfits, and it's not like there won't be adorable clothes on sale next year.

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/07/2013 20:49

Clapham your maternity pay deal sounds amazing.

The snuz pod looks much nicer than the bed nest. I keep bidding on bed nests on ebay but they always sell for more than rental cost from nct so far. I have also come across the baby bay bed side cot.

Chickieno your iron might. Have increased but then been diluted as you have more blood. My midwife reccomended and gave me a sample of spa tone liquid iron but I haven't tried it.

Had a lovely day with the children for once, they really enjoyed tasting new fruit and making kebabs (found some skewers at homebase!). I wish there were more time for that sort of thing. Very hot though. Still 31 degrees at 6.30. Eugh sweaty sweaty.

I didn't get a spare minute to call the doctors before they closed but they didn't call again today so hoping it is nothing and will try again tomorrow.

Eek should we be thinking about nurseries? I won't need until September if at all. Not even considered it. Definitely head in the sand about post maternity leave at the moment.

OrangeBlossom2 · 17/07/2013 20:55

29 working days left for me! 5 this term, 24 in September/October. That doesn't sound too bad.
And sprout app says 95 days to go.

ananikifo · 17/07/2013 21:01

orangeblossom I had a panic about signing up for nursery last week but I spoke with colleagues and they all already had the baby before putting their names down. They all said it was reasonable not to commit yet because circumstances change and you may feel differently about what you want, once you have the baby. These are people I work with so they live in a similar area (not the exact same area though) and probably have similar budgets. I think it's important to talk to people in your area because it does seem to vary by region, ie apparently waiting lists are long in London.

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 21:01

It is a legal requirement to give bank holidays on top of annual leave.

Iheartcrunchiebars · 17/07/2013 21:07

Roxvox and empress Helston is meant to be really good as well. Everyone I know who has given birth at Treliske says the birth care is fab (although aftercare not as great). I might end up there too!

Natalieand · 17/07/2013 21:09

I'm too tired after last nights shenanigans so I will catch up tommorow but 89 days left according to my apps xx

TheFalconsmistress · 17/07/2013 21:23

Im hospital with a possible lung clot, I tell you this pregnancy is not treating me well Sad

roofio87 · 17/07/2013 21:25

79 days left for me too!! was telling baby today that I can't wait to meet him but that he can come in 9 weeks at earliest (at 38 weeks) and then realised that 9 weeks is no time at all!! (yes I am one of those crazy pg ladies that talks to her bump!!)

Natalieand · 17/07/2013 21:27

Shock hope you are ok falcon and turns out to be a false alarm sending u Flowers

claphammama · 17/07/2013 21:34

orange it is amazing but, trust me, they've had my blood and my soul over the last 7 years... there is a lot of truth in the saying "there is no such thing as a free lunch"... I can't complain though!

chickien sorry to hear about your hp / iron. I had the same problem last time I was pregnant. My diet is mainly vegetarian and, if I eat meat, it's rarely red meat. My iron levels were OK before I got pregnant but, as soon as I got pregnant, they dipped massively. There was no amount of spinach or broccoli I could eat to bring it up... so difficult in pregnancy. And iron really upset my stomach - quite the opposite of constipated actually...

About nurseries - I think it depends which one you like, waiting lists vary greatly and can be long in London. DS's nursery in London had 9-10 months waiting list. So for those of you in London, might be worth doing some research now, at least to know which one you may like etc...

Shall we agree then that those with selective CSs will change their due date to CS date in our spreadsheet and put it in a different colour? (purple for example?) Is everyone already on our spreadsheet by the way?

claphammama · 17/07/2013 21:35

crosspost - oh no falcon!! hope it's just a false alarm Thanks x

roofio87 · 17/07/2013 21:36

cross post too!! falcon hope all is ok Thanks

Empress77 · 17/07/2013 21:40

Iheartcrunchiebars, goodness maybe see you there too!At this rate theyll definitely be no beds left! I do think treliske is good normally - my sister never stayed for any after care - both times she left really quickly-i also think id prefer to recover at home rather than on a ward but dont think i can do that if I want an epidural....and if I cant have a pool I think ill want an epidural! (Which I think you cant have at st austell or helston?) The other thing to know about possibly roxvox is at treliske they still use pethidine which I hear is quite backward? Exeter seems to offer diamorphine instead, I dont know what the rest of the country does but do here cornwalls a little unsual to still use pethidine?

PseudoBadger · 17/07/2013 21:42

Oh no Falcon, I hope that all will be ok xx

roxvox · 17/07/2013 21:42

Hope all is ok falcon! That doesn't sound pleasant at all.

crunchie I have heard similar. How come you may end up at Treliske then? We might all be there at the same time Grin

ananikifo · 17/07/2013 21:52

Iheartcrunchiebars · 17/07/2013 22:03

Get well soon falcon x

MotherOfNations · 17/07/2013 22:25

really hope everything is ok falcon. I'll be thinking of you.
Had a nice day with Ds and youngest Dd at park apart from when we went out into the gardens behind the cafe after lunch. As I mentioned on the last thread I am due in court soon as youngest dd's biological father is fighting for access despite not bothering with her u til he thought he might be thrown out of the country.

As we walked into the gardens I spotted one of his friends and tried to keep walking pretending I hadn't seen her but she stopped me and started screaming and shouting in front of everyone that it was my fault she was having to attend court as a witness and that I should never have allowed things to come this far. When I told her that I didn't see that I had much choice under the circumstances she went crazy swearing and screaming that everything I was saying about him was a pack of lies.
I just told her to believe what she likes and walked off. All this In front of my ex's and her 4 yr old dd.

MotherOfNations · 17/07/2013 22:26

Dc's not ex's.
