Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

So juat had the most manic weekend filled with lots of family!! However, its all been nicely topped off by having a scan this morning. Everything seemed fine (though getting information was like pulling teeth). Due date moved by one day so its now Jan 15th.
naturegirl how was yours?? Think we have same edd?
Now to catch up on everyone elses wkend :)

Frizz1986 · 08/07/2013 18:50

Just coming on for a quick catch up.
Sorry to see some people are still feeling bad or are catching bugs. That sucks that's as soon as you are getting to the end of ms it seems that the bugs start to arrive and a different sickness appears.

Hope people have had some good scans. I miss seeing mine already and it was only a week ago (we have officially given it the nickname pinnochio due to its hand making it look like it has a huge nose)

Sending positive vibes for blue hope all is well.

nct classes - my midwife hasn't told me about them yet just about nhs ones but my sister said she regretted not doing them and as I don't really have many friends up here I think it will be a great way to meet some new mum's. I booked the other week as I know they fill up fast and they held a place until tomorrow by which time we have to pay. It's £203 (without nct membership) but I think it will be worth it as I know a girl from work (who had hers Jan this year) went and she thought it was worth it.

TarkaTheOtter · 08/07/2013 19:03

I did NCT classes with dd and thought they were definitely worth it. I think a lot depends on the quality of the teacher and ours was great. She was a former midwife and whilst she taught us coping strategies for during labour she also spoke in detail about all the methods of pain relief and intervention. Maybe ask locally what the teacher is like.

I am hating this heat. So glad I'll be heavily pregnant in winter not summer.

Naturegirl82 · 08/07/2013 19:28

Scan went well. Bean was lying on their front to start with and then turned on to it's side. I had to go to the loo to encourage it to move onto it's back which worked and pics were still clear (which makes me wonder why we need a full bladder in the first place!!!) so they managed to do nt measurement which came out at 1.4mm so quite low so fx I come out at low risk. Got my appointment with 1-2-1 midwife tomorrow so looking forward to that Smile . My dates have been moved so now 12 + 5 with edd of 15th so I think we are due date buddies carrot. Started telling people now. Feels very real!

Congrats to everyone on good scans.

Hope your app goes well blue.

lovelilies · 08/07/2013 20:06

Just popping in on way to Wales for romantic couple of days away with dp.
Had scan today, Pip measuring 13+1 rather than 12+3 which is nice, waved at us too Grin
On the down side nuchal measurement was 3.6mm... wish I hadn't had it done now, Sad
dp doesn't seem too worried as you have to take in the blood results etc etc, such a mixed feeling, as soon as I daw the little baby on screen I fell in love...

Pidgy · 08/07/2013 20:23

Scan went well. Seemed to check a lot more things than I remember with Ds and that was less than 2 years ago.
Did they check hands, shoulders, feet, legs, brain, stomach, bladder etc for you all? She took pictures of them all too??

Anyway, growth still fine and the baby did a few waves and body shakes. Swear I saw a willy too!! But not even sure they have one at this stage?! I'm 12,5??

That's means naturegirl and carrot, we're date twins!! 15th Jan!!

SarahJayne321 · 08/07/2013 20:25

Love hearing positive scan news, so happy for all.

Where is pod :(

Pidgy · 08/07/2013 20:28

lovelies, easier said than done but don't worry too much. Your dp is right, they need to look at blood results too.

Did they look for any other markers like nose bone?
That is just one measurement, and I've heard a lot higher turn out fine.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for your results.
X

Evenin' all,
Gosh it's still hot really am not built for the heat. Can't even have good moan about it with other pg lady at work cos I'm waiting a bit longer to announce. I am also glad that by the time I'm heavily pg it'll be winter! So well done us ladies (and good men) on the timings. Pat yourselves on the back!

Glad to hear of good scans today, sounds like we got good wriggly beans about!

So quick role call of the Berkshire/Surrey/West London contingent:
science
farmers
pidgy
percy
...and me!

science I'd be up for a meet up at some point too. Plenty of nice places to hang out at in our region!

curlywurlyllass · 08/07/2013 20:56

Im another with Due date 15.01
:D
saw wee one kicking and waving away, but scan was awful. It must b coz im so fat! Sonographer was digging for potatoes i think, and couldnt get a non blurry pic to take measurements so ive to go back at 16weeks, i thought it was too late by then!

so glad to see lots of good posts today, hope things stays positive!

Thinkin of those with sickness/worries

Sultanajo · 08/07/2013 20:57

Omg paranoid moment sarahL despite having read the box 5 times, going on their website and getting DH to ask the pharmacist, but I just freaked out and double checked with DH that the pharmacist definitely said I could take rennies, which he confirmed they did! I have been having them nightly, so they had better be ok!!! Grin

Great scan news - lots of active little monkeys!

Sultanajo · 08/07/2013 20:58

love as others have said its just one marker, so fingers firmly crossed for good news!

MrsGSR · 08/07/2013 20:58

So happy to hear of all the good scans today! I have a week to wait and I'm getting so impatient!

Sultanajo · 08/07/2013 21:01

sarahL I would still check for yourself before taking them just in case - pharmacist, midwife or call your surgery and ask....

Sending positive vibes blue Grin

Sultanajo · 08/07/2013 21:02

extracrunchy · 08/07/2013 22:56

Tooth I'm west London/Twickenham - does that count?? X

SarahJayne321 · 08/07/2013 23:09

Hope so sultana

Just tackled a spider. Trapped it in a Yankee candle and freed it through the window. It was like the size of a 5 pence. Small and speedy, little shit.

Bluecarrot · 08/07/2013 23:27

Well, maternity ward was sooo busy - 7 women admitted within 40 mins of my arrival, but no beds! Meant a long wait to be seen but I had a good book and some fruit and choccy so was well prepared!

Baby appears to be fine and was active.

Ive been told to rest for 5-7 days, no exercise, bending or stretching above my head, and no sex for 2 weeks. Just gentle walking for 10 mins every few hours in the day. Seems a bit extreme to me but Ill do whatever Im told!

DP away til Wednesday for a funeral so DD will need to be my slave helper til then, though to be honest, only thing I can think Ill need help with is doing laundry and loading/unloading dishwasher.

Pidgy normally its pretty indistinguishable for another few weeks as girls bits can be swollen! From 15-16 weeks I think it can be pretty certain though.

Bikey86 · 09/07/2013 08:04

Hi all,

I've been hovering a lot recently, lonely to hear about all the scans. It sounds like there are some Olympic gymnasts to be born in January!!! I'm waiting (not so patiently) for my 12 week scan on 17th July. It seems to be taking ages...really struggling to keep it a secret now too. Grrrr.

Well today is my graduation ceremony so I'm a little nervous, especially as I don't know any of my fellow students coz I studied online. Also, this weather is madness, hardly a good day for wearing a big black gown!!

Hope you ladies are doing okay and hope this that have nausea or vomming are starting to feel a bit better.

extracrunchy · 09/07/2013 08:10

Bikey big black gown and NOTHING UNDERNEATH?? Grin

extracrunchy · 09/07/2013 08:11

Good luck and congrats!

extracrunchy · 09/07/2013 08:12

Good news, Blue! Take it easy Smile

Bluecarrot · 09/07/2013 09:02

I'm not sure how prescriptions work in England, but they are free in NI and dr prescribed me a HUGE bottle of peptic liquid for heartburn. It's incredibly thick but it works great- better than rennie, but less portable given then size of the bottle!
