Unfortunately he is a Lecturer so cant take holidays outside of the college hols. He will just have been off for two weeks ironically!!!

flowersfortea · 26/06/2013 19:10

Hi all

lovely to hear about all the scans! After a lot of phone calls and chasing I've finally heard from a midwife and have a booking appointment for next tues. phew! By dates I'll be 12+1 so hopefully the scan will follow soon after.

Also glad to hear that many of you are starting to feel better.here the nausea continues (not great when in a client facing job, fetching but luckily very little vomiting) but the main thing is exhaustion. Can't wait for my saturday lie in!

enormouse · 26/06/2013 19:16

humpty ikwym. He lived in a halls of residence with 4 other blokes and they just couldn't differentiate between clean/ a bit messy/a complete tip/ a risk to health. Luckily he has noticed my exasperated face and has cleaned the place up and then made dinner. He's also going to give DS his bath while I eat banoffee pie. So a fairly good result despite the fact it took a while and a possible rise in my blood pressure. I'm just going to take his messiness as a marital hazard. Typical quote from him "i didn't even notice the place was that messy. There's just a few plates out".

Frizz1986 · 26/06/2013 19:18

Wow again this thing moves so quickly.
Congrats to newbies and all the exciting scans. Good luck for people having it tomorrow.
Have been feeling rather bleurgh today but at least its almost the end of the week which means almost scan time.

sultana my dh is a teacher so i know what you mean about holidays. Its a pain but at least when bean is 6 months old dh will have a whole 6 weeks to spend at home with us so there are some good things.

Dh has another interview at a school, but what would be the worst possible day for said interview......monday as its scan day. What day is the interview..... Monday!
I told dh that if he didnt like the school and wouldnt want the job then to not go, but if he liked the school and would want to work there then he needs to go. So have now got mil coming to the scan with me instead as my family live 200 miles away and i dont have any friends who a) know i am pregnant or b) i would want to come with me, that live close enough.
I know she will be really supportive but am completely worried that it will be bad news and dh wont be there. I know its silly as logically most people get good news at the scan but there is still that chance. I also think it would make it so much more real for him seeing baby there. I think he is sad about not coming but having a job next year is rather important to both of us.
I have told him that we can always pay for another private scan in a few weeks so he can see baby.

car talk we have a small clio (07 reg) and i have a stupid, always breaking, always needing work fiesta. We will be getting rid of mine once i have finished work as cant afford to keep fixing it and i dont really need one (although it may make going to clubs etc hard depending on where they are)
We will hopefully upgrade dhs to a more family friendly car, but if dh gets a job then we might be financially secure enough to replace my car instead.

Have been getting a couple of aches and pains today in my belly. Dont know if they are cramps really, but think any new feeling in that area worries me. I guess we will find out come monday and whatever the outcome there isnt really much i can do about it.

enormouse · 26/06/2013 19:19

sultanajo best of luck with the holiday planning.
flowers great news, mines is on Monday. Feels like I've been waiting forever!

MrsGSR · 26/06/2013 19:27

Frizz I've been getting some small aches and pains, I'm hoping it's just stretching.

I've bought some giant knickers that are very, very comfortable! Not very attractive though!

littlealien01 · 26/06/2013 19:40

thanks for all the welcomes and optimism, I will keep my fingers crossed for the 13 wk energy rebound. definitely understanding the groundhog day thing.

bikey86 if the bloat is linked to trapped wind ive found touching your toes/ generally bending over/sticking your bum in the air works wonders, does sometimes make me vom tho.

toby have the yoghurt. ive just sent dh to the shop to buy corned beef and bread (& yet more crisps) for a sarnie as the only food that bears thinking about today
yesterday all i wanted was cheese. definitely no carbs and fat avoiding here. chocolate on the other hand is evil, just looking at it gives me nausea and i normally love it.

sultana 2 days is very little, would he consider taking a day or 2 a week over the first 2-3 weeks or something? can you save beforehand to ease the money issue? i know id hate the idea of being on my own those first weeks

chocoloulou33 · 26/06/2013 19:42

Ah pod rly hope you start feeling better soon. I love majorca! Am sooo jealous Envy we have a little holiday in great yarmouth this year in august & going with group of friends too so rly looking forward to that x

Sultanajo · 26/06/2013 19:46

flowers about frickin time! Bet you are relieved!

Ohhh several scans on Monday! Thats just typical timing frizz & that is going to make the worry worse for you, but fingers firmly crossed all will be perfect! I am not sure any of us have been relaxed and chilled out about scans!

You are so right about the holidays! Bigger picture Sultana! Think it just came as a shock out of the blue, but at least hopefully (unless bubs is really late) DH will be off when I go into labour....Grin

Sultanajo · 26/06/2013 19:51

mrsgsr I too have bought enormous pants which are mega comfy! Such a relief. I said to DH that some of my normal pants are comfy and some arent and couldnt figure out why. Then I realised that the ones that were comfy were ripped at the waist! Omg! Shock He thought it was hilarious!!! Grin

Alien unfortunately paternity has to be taken in one chunk, so no option to split it up. Half term is in Feb so not that long to wait for him to have time at home with us I guess. Just suddenly feeling really real today! Shock

quackojuliet · 26/06/2013 20:07

Glad to hear others are having more energy and less nausea,I think (hope to dear god) I'm getting there now. What I've found particularly tough is my sickness and exhaustion seems to have no routine, sometimes irs the morning, sometimes all day, sometimes just night...

I had my booking-in and met my midwife today, which was fab and really made me feel properly pregnant. Now that and the 12 week scan is done, I'm starting to scout out freecycle and 2nd hand shops for baby freebies and bargains. As the first of my friends to have a baby we don't have much in the way of hand me downs and are tight for cash so it'll be pre-loved all the way!

Good luck to all those with scans next week!

sarahleanne · 26/06/2013 20:31

bloody hell people you can seriously talk, its just taken me ages to catch up haha slow down please !!

my scan went well on tuesday, no obvious sign for bleeding so im happy now.I have also stopped bleeding today which is good.got told no nookie for a few days haha.

Cannot remember who had the skoda but i have just sold my skoda fabia, i was using it for work as my vectra was drinking fuel so dh has now got the vectra and we bought a vauxhall zafira as the family car and I LOVE IT. Its a 7 seater but two of the seats fold down in the back to make it into a 5 and have a bigger boot. This is 3rd baby for me so i felt i needed something big!!
DH has his eye on the range rover evoques which i think are lush!! but at 30,000 to buy ive told him that ones on the back burner for the min!! boys and their toys lol.

about stretchmarks (a few pages back), i got alot on my sides and front of my belly with my first pregnancy, i was 9 stone re pregnancy and ballooned to 13 stone!!
my second pregnancy i put on 3 stone and didnt get any new marks atall, obviously because i didnt get as big.so im hoping i wont get any new ones this time either!! in my opinion, no amount of lotions or potions will stop you from getting them if you have that type of skin ( shit skin!!).I covered myself in bio oil and cocoa butter and still got them...rubbish!!

so nice to see a few of you having holidays! we are off to north cornwall with the kids this weekend, we only booked it on tuesday, to celebrate dh's new job.ok so its not very exotic but it will be nice to get away for the weekend Grin

im 11+2 today, feeling bloody shattered tbh and cant wait to feel better and more ummm ALIVE Grin

i know some of you are still really suffering with ms, really feel for you lot! i had it on and off for a while and its bloody awful.

MrsVDB · 26/06/2013 21:01

sarah glad to hear scan went well, must have been a relief

I'm not sure if any of you already have pregnancy journals but I just bought this one

www.fromyoutome.com/parentandchild/bumptobirthday.html

It's cheaper on amazon and does from 10weeks pregnant to 1st birthday with room for scan pictures etc. just wanted to record everything as I know I'll forget!!

sarahleanne · 26/06/2013 21:08

thanks mrsvdb! yes definitely a relief for me and dh Grin

good luck to anyone having scans soon

im off to bed,yawn!!
xx

Penny31 · 26/06/2013 21:42

Nooooooo just vommed! What is going on? I'm 14+5 according to nhs scan. I'm so meant to bloom now. I feel like the tiredness is never going to go. Poor DP is doing everything while I sit and feel sorry for myself.

Very jealous of the holidays! We usually go to Greece but we decided not to go this year because we are saving to move house.

Please some of you are having less nausea and that your scans are coming soon!

Off to bed for me, I've managed to stay up quite late tonight :)

Toothfairy78 · 26/06/2013 21:43

pidgy thanks might check that on way home from work! Dh will hate them...which means only I can eat them! Mwahahah!

percy I'm out by Slough in Langley so not far from Egham. I hope this evening's task went OK?

Today I unofficially told the boss where I was yesterday. He thought I was out at an interview! I won't tell the rest of the office for bit longer though.

And I showed can pic to friend at work who has a feeling it's a boy! So much fun!

Now cars...I have a petrol Ford Focus. You might think this is a very practical car for a small family but no, mine is a 2 door. DH can't wait to get rid of it. Apparently it's too lightweight and skittish. Am wondering about a Qashqai but much research is needed first...

enormouse · 26/06/2013 22:20

Following everyones car news and reviews with interest. Am trying to find something myself preferably before September/october. I need something small enough for me to park yet large enough for a family of 4/for DP not to be embarrassed driving when he eventually passes his test. I was thinking Vauxhall astra or a mondeo or a skoda fabia.

toothfairy I was quite keen on a Ford focus. Do you know if it's any more efficient as a diesel?

Also massive thanks to whoever posted the casabu link - what gorgeous stuff in the hotmilk sale! Have treated myself to the dark blue lacy set.

Bluecarrot · 26/06/2013 22:32

Well ladies, bit of drama for me today - after breathing a digh of relief at geting to 12 weeks on Monday eithout incident, i started bleeding quite heavily.

Thankfully it also stopped within 2 hours by which time I was already at the hospital awaiting a check and an anti-d jab.

Baby is fine and was extremely active throughout the scan. As DP was hours away with no way to get to us, I had to tell my friend and she came with me. Think she was more excited than me! We got to hear the heartbeat too for just a few seconds. Sad DP missed that part, but I'm taking a day of bed rest tomorrow just cause i can and then tomorrow night, we tell my daughter and parents!

Bluecarrot · 26/06/2013 22:38

enourmous my mum drives a ford focus ( we share it really, but she owns it). Her model (from 2001 I think) does not have the option to temporarily turn off airbag. Bear that in mind if going second hand. I love the car, its given no trouble at all. I learnt to drive in one of the new fiestas. LOVED it. I want one!

I want to read further up the thread but its been an emotional evening and I just need to sleep now! Night everyone.

BuffyFairyTopsTheTree · 26/06/2013 22:57

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted since my first post on the third thread. I had a busy time at work and then went on holiday. It's taken me a few days to catch up on a thread and a half! Welcome to the newbies and I'm so sorry for those who've had bad news.

I'm 11w today and a midwife appointment and blood tests done. Booking in is on Sun and scan on Tues. Can't wait Grin

Enormouse my DD is 20 mths, how old is toddler mouse? She's at the stage where everything is either hilarious or the end of the world. Congrats on getting a first, that's fantastic! Glad your DH cleared up in the end.

I used a dream genii when pg with DD and thought it was great. I wouldn't worry about sleeping on LHS all night. By the time you get heavy enough for there to be much pressure you'll be waking several times a night with leg cramps and needing to pee Wink so you can just turn over again.

I found the 'Your Baby Week by Week' book very good. If you're planning to breastfeed 'The Food of Love' by Kate Evans and 'The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding' are worth a read beforehand.

I swear by Bio Oil for stretch marks. I didn't get any on my stomach (but neither did my Mum). I forgot about my boobs and got angry red marks and found the bio oil faded them really quickly. Some people say the pound world rescue oil works just as well.

Bluecarrot glad everything turned out to be ok. How scary! And sarahleanne, happy bean was fine at your scan.

SarahJayne hope you are ok.

curlywurlyllass · 26/06/2013 22:59

Hi ladies, keeping quiet as for the last 10-11 days ive not 'felt' pregnant ie no 'full' feelngs in the tummy area that i strongly felt then it all suddenly stopped and i could bend to paint my toenails! so ive been scrutinising every symptom Since. 11weeks today.

Have had an awful evening on the loo every 20mins, i think i have a uti. I had my last drink at 4pm but im still running now.
Question is do i contact the midwife team (named midwife is on sick and ive never met her) at the hospital or contact my gp surgery (who are about as useful as chocolate fireguards) in the morning?
Im about to give in and take a paracetamol :(
hope you are not all sleeping (if u are... Im jealous! Think i will b up a while longer working on my loo seat butt ring mark!)

Congrats to those with good scans and appointments!

And on the car topic: we have 3 cars.... Mine a 3door which wont b ideal to get car seat in and out of. His a 5door but lowered with coilovers so kid would most probably get whiplash. A scooby with no cat so exhaust fumes will b toxic.
Think we will need to trade in for a more suitable child friendly motor!

Happy mtoring!!

BuffyFairyTopsTheTree · 26/06/2013 23:02

Sultana I would try and get him to take more days. I was fine for the first few days as still on a high but day 5 was awful. I had boobs like rocks and they were too engorged for DD to feed so she was screaming, my hormones were all over the place and I was exhausted. I needed that support. You don't know how you will feel until baby is here. I know people can and do cope alone but if you don't have it's better not to.

Toothfairy78 · 26/06/2013 23:18

enormouse my focus is a 1.6 08 model. I get around 40 mpg generally. My DH has a 1.8 diesel and it's loads more efficient reckon he gets 55-60mpg. It feels a bit heavier in general tho.

Frogcatcher · 26/06/2013 23:43

curly I would contact drs, tell them you have a UTI & are pregnant & they should see you. At my booking in appt my urine came back with a suspected UTI & they said it could be serious when pg so if confirmed I had to see the dr for antibiotics. In fact it was a false alarm when the culture came back & I didn't have any symptoms.
Lemon barley water is very good for relieving symptoms or bicarbonate of soda in water as a last resort (it tastes foul).

Frogcatcher · 26/06/2013 23:46

Oh & bluecarrot apparently unexplained bleeding most common at the point you would normally have a period so 4 wks, 8 wks & 12 wks. Glad all ok but must have given you a real scare.
